The executive suite we had was spacious and comfortable, especially the bed. The hotel staff are very welcoming and accommodating. My wife enjoyed the spa facilities. The hotel is located within close walking distance to the Queen Street train station and close to the St Davids centre where there are plenty of nice restaurants and shops.

Very expensive one-night stay for a concert at the utilita arena, and when we got back after the concert we discovered our room was opposite a nightclub and above an area of the hotel where an event with loud music was also happening. Extremely noisy in the room. Went to reception and their first statement was \"we're fully booked\", which was annoying as an opening gambit, when clearly they weren't fully booked and I suspect actually meant \"we don't have any available different rooms of the type you booked\". To their credit the manager sorted out a different room quickly, which was an upgraded room, at the back of the hotel and higher up, which was nice and quiet for our night's sleep. I don't object to noisy hotels if the websites state that, but this didn't. Didn't have a chance to use any spa facilities which would have made it better value I suppose. A nice hotel and handy for the car park opposite and walking distance to the main Cardiff shopping areas and the castle, but I would seriously think twice about staying here again. Very expensive and runs the risk of being noisy.

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my daughter on a social trip.
When we arrived, there was a slight queue at reception, which was perfectly understandable given how busy it was. A gentleman called us forward, but before completing the check-in, another member of staff intervened and very sternly informed me that he was still in training and unable to process my check-in — acting as though I should already have known this. I was then passed to another receptionist who, quite honestly, acted as though she would rather be anywhere else.
We did not receive a warm welcome in the slightest. There was no basic hospitality etiquette, which surprised me as I am very accustomed to staying in hotels across the UK and internationally. This is the first time I’ve experienced such a lack of welcome.
I also asked the receptionist what our room number was, and she simply glanced up and said, “If you open your key card holder, it’s written inside.” This felt abrupt and dismissive.
The room itself was perfectly adequate. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom, however, was extremely small, with the toilet door opening directly against the toilet — though I appreciate that space constraints can’t always be helped.
At checkout, we returned to reception and placed our key cards in the designated box. Not a single member of staff acknowledged us — no “thank you,” no “did you enjoy your stay,” not even a goodbye.

A gentleman called us forward, but before completing the check-in, another member of staff intervened and very sternly informed me that he was still in training and unable to process my check-in — acting as though I should already have known this. I was then passed to another receptionist who, quite honestly, acted as though she would rather be anywhere else.
We did not receive a warm welcome in the slightest. There was no basic hospitality etiquette, which surprised me as I am very accustomed to staying in hotels across the UK and internationally. This is the first time I’ve experienced such a lack of welcome.
I also asked the receptionist what our room number was, and she simply glanced up and said, “If you open your key card holder, it’s written inside.” This felt abrupt and dismissive.
The room itself was perfectly adequate. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom, however, was extremely small, with the toilet door opening directly against the toilet — though I appreciate that space constraints can’t always be helped.
At checkout, we returned to reception and placed our key cards in the designated box. Not a single member of staff acknowledged us — no “thank you,” no “did you enjoy your stay,” not even a goodbye.

The hotel was cold, the atrium lobby had a wind blowing through it, the bar / restaurant was cold and my room was cold. So disappointed that this was not sorted in a 4* hotel. The only saving grace was the leisure club, pool which was sedate, calm and ... warm !! Walls were paper thin so we could hear everything happening next door, windows didn't close properly so no sound proofing from the traffic of the road despite paying for a \"tree line\" room. Room was okay, nothing special especially at the price. Room service was excellent however with really tasty food. Facilities are excellent but you go to a hotel to sleep and we couldn't really do that with all the noise. From the room we were in, I wouldn't class this as a four star hotel. When we mentioned the issues, hotel staff said we should have said something during the night. What are they going to do? Come to the room and install soundproofing? Turn up at 2am with screwdrivers to fix the window? That's a blanket response to shift responsibility onto the guest because I'll guarantee despite us saying about the window nobody will have been sent to fix it before the next guest stayed in the room.

The location of the hotel was good and overall the experience was fine, but I had a major issue with the air conditioning in my room. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, and despite raising it with reception, no one ever came to check it or offered me an alternative room. This meant I was stuck in an uncomfortably hot room throughout my stay, which made it difficult to relax or sleep properly.
What I found most disappointing was that, when I raised the issue again in the morning, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the problem. A bit of care and accountability from the staff would have made a big difference.

Disappointed, as specifically rang hotel a few days before booking to check if there was any extra charge for spa facility, and was told no extra. So i booked a girlie weekend for my daughter & myself as a treat. Only to find on arrival, spa & pool closed for upgrade. Why was this not relayed during my phone call specifically asking about these facilities? Receptionist quite blasè about situation. Was told you can use the facilities at the Hilton hotel at the end of the street. If i'd known this I would have booked hotel with an onsite spa instead. Not ideal having to walk down the street to use a spa, when you expect it onsite.
