As you would expect from a Hilton really. High quality service from the check in staff, well designed and maintained.

The restaurant was quiet but I was never offered a dessert or another drink. The table was never cleared and I had to walk to the chatting bar staff to settle my bill.

Car parking is £35 a night (24hrs) and is a stand alone NCP about 100 yds away. The most memorable feature of the car park is its overpowering stench of urine.

Other than that, a lovely stay although Cardiff itself is a bit of a hole.

I booked the night as a getaway for me & my partner..

Duran our stay: we were greeted warminly by the receptionist, front of house looked cleaned and well maintained. After checking in we relaxed in the pool which did bring a calming experience (cant fault the pool).

Our room was clean and ready for us to use, after our time in the pool we went back to our room to shower and get ready to go out to dinner and watch a show. Heres where things started to go wrong.

The shower was completly blocked we didnt realise this untill water flooded the bathroom i go to reception to report and asked for fresh towels and for someone to sort the shower. Within 10 mins we had new towels and the maintanance guy come to basically plung the drain & pour nr muscle done the shower to be told give it 15 minutes to unblock. After waiting we showeed to again the water not draining and the bathroom flooding. We also had an issue with the sink the metal block was completly seized and we didnt realise till after brushing our teeth. The hole palama cost us an extra hour to get ready which we missed our evening show before food not leaving much entertainment to enjoy. I got my money back for the pool (which they dont tell you its extra btw) as compensation but its not good enough considering the price of the stay and our evening away basically runied with nothing we could do because we missed everything due to the delays.

Wont be going back.

Always amazing and friendly staff, with very little issues.
However, on this occasion it wasn't ideal and I felt a little deflated.
We had initially booked a 1 night stay but changed this for 2 nights.

Everything was well and as expected as per our previous experiences.
We started to encounter a couple of issues with some random men (3) knocking on our door on 2 separate occasions which I just put down to random behavior.

Secondly, we had a very rowdy couple next door arguing and shouting, alongside banging and slamming the interal bathroom door.

This was followed by a family with children who were running, thumping and screaming until gone 2am.
I don't blame the children, as a mother of 9 children I know how difficult it can be to entertain them in a single room away from home and they are entitled to make noise. However, it didn't seem like the parents done very much to discourage them, as they had been very loud themselves.

I booked a 2nd night because I just needed the rest and the break. They couldn't accommodate a room change due to a wedding which was fine, so I just chanced it and prayed for a quieter night. It wasn't as bad and the children did settle before 1am and woke at 6am LOL.

The other issue was the draining of the shower. Whilst showering I had to turn it off 3 times just to allow the water to drain otherwise we'd of made a new Hilton swimming pool. My daughter thought it was hysteral.

The rooms and breakfast are always perfect :)

I informed the staff behind the desk that it was my daughter’s birthday. They arranged a balloon and cupcakes in our room. They also gave us free access to the pool which my daughter really appreciated. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely be visiting again!

The staff were all excellent but the hotel itself is a bit shabby. We had a twin room, the plug sockets between the beds didn't work and sparked when we plugged something in.
The shower while spacious would fluctuate between hot and cold non stop. We were kept awake for several hours by children or young teens screaming. We thought it was in the room next to us but it felt like it was coming from the outside area of the hotel. I don't usually expect much from a hotel for one night, but I'd recommend another, slightly cheaper hotel like a Premier Inn, at least their plugs work and their rooms have some semblance of soundproofing. Another American brand being reduced to a rip off perhaps? Not surprised but still a bit disappointed.

The things that weren’t quite right were £5 to use pool (perhaps better indication on web site) segregation at breakfast, why were there seats for “plebs” and seats for the “more affluent people?”

Not one of our best stays but it did have a central location which was its saving grace.

Charged left right and center for things that ive never payed for at hotels- like the swimming pool,10 pound for a child to use is criminal. It was my daughters birthday and i wasn't interested in arguing but the charges just kept coming. After paying 200 for a room, that sort of smelt like sewerage. A room we were moved to by the receptionist as a treat for my daughter 16th birthday.
There was the smell & the Big crack in the sink. 2 towels in the whole room

Staff on desks were some of the most rude and unfriendly people I've ever met let alone in a hotel staff setting. They all look avout 16 which is fine but why so rude? Not our fault you chose to work on new years eve. 2 days later and i havent had the deposit of 25 back yet that i was told would cover things if we wanted to spend anything while we were there. Instead I was tapping my card for every single thing we asked for. Even 10 min at the spa. Probably wouldn't stay at this particular hilton again due to the staff, unfortunate as its a great hotel in a great location just had too many issues & random high charges

Old and tired. Pool area and changing rooms moldy and dirty. Lots of black and pink mould especially in the showers. When we arrived they wanted to charge us an extra £20 to use the pool (they charge extra from 1st Nov) we had already paid nearly £500 for the night accomodation. Room was very cold sheets very thin on the bed. Not a top hotel. Bedroom was clean.

My only disappointment was, on arrival at the spa for a swim we were asked to pay £5 each for the 3 of us to use the pool. We weren’t told that this was now a paid service and were very surprised to find out it was , right at the last minute. All said and done we had a fab time. Many thanks Clive.

Our room had a great view of the Ferris wheel and Cardiff castle.
The rubbish bin in our room had a broken bottom which the cleaners knew about but didnt replace. It seemed that they cleaning regime for our floor was around 3pm daily which wasnt good for us as we would go out early and wanted to come back and relax but couldn't.
The bathroom is and clean and spacious but the water pressure for the shower is terrible they need to address this.
Breakfast has your staple foods which is good.
The 2 lifts are old and slow. Just some observations for management to review.

Well...it was definitely one of my most exciting visits to the Hilton, between multiple fire alarms and having to change rooms early hours (it definitely got my steps in and those stairs to the 6th and 7th floor really are a weeks cardio...they are no joke)

The staff are always amazing and really helped the best they could.
We managed to break a chair during breakfast, which resulted in a game of musical chairs and the laughter was very much needed.
I spilled water everywhere (it was one of those mornings) safe to say I'm glad the staff know us very well or it would have been embarrassing.

I will say, even with all the crazy going on. The girls on the desk and the night staff where amazing, jumped into action. When we returned from the evacuation, we wouldn't enter our room due to a strong sulphur odour and even though we had to wait for another room, they really did a great job and held it all together.

The young lad who helped us move room with our bags was so nice and was able to laugh with us during this funny ordeal.

A dedicated and friendly staff, really make these situations easier to handle.

The hotel was great , good location . Close to bars and shops . There is no on site parking , but you can use ncp car park close by but only get 10% of stayed for less than 48 hrs but charged over £60 which is a bit pricy . The other thing we were woken up at 3.30 with the emergency alarm all guest had to evacuate , someone in the hotel must of set alarm off . We did get apology from hotel . I would stay again but may look for other hotels first due to this experience

We googled if the hotel provided free parking and found that it did. Hotel does not provide free Parking!!!!! Parking around the hotel is very expensive and you would have to fend for yourself.

Don’t charge me for castle view if it’s going to be behind a tree.

Very bad lighting in the room. Very old carpet in the room.

Very old TV didn’t have smart functions and we were stuck with limited BBC channels.

Paid extra for room decorations which was a ripoff. Normal hotels do the swans on the bed without extra cost when they are told it’s for a special occasion. I paid extra £15 for fake rose petals and no swans.

Got a cocktail in the bar around 9pm.
Asked for room number. Couldnt remember at first so got room card out of purse and gave number when drinks arrived to the table. Decided to take drinks back to our room and were followed to the lift by the female bar tender, asking me to go to the bar and sign for the drinks. Highly embarressing. I returned to the bar with the member of staff and made the full payment but will never stay at this hotel again. Was made to feel in front of other guests that we intended to not pay. Do not expect that sort of service at a high end hotel. To make matters worse, the coctails werent even very nice and we both left them. What a waste of £22 and poor service.

The room was overlooking a busy street, which was very noisy, especially at night, even though we were on the 5th floor! I suspect the window needs looking at, as we could hear lots of noise and could also be the cause of the mould around the window.

The room was ok but lacked drawer space, who needs ironing boards & irons on a city break? but a towel rail in the bathroom & a couple more hooks would be helpful! A big cupboard to hold a mini fridge but no fridge, so stupid when hotels in Europe all provide the same! The drinks prices in the bar are ridiculously expensive too! We stayed 2 nights the whole thing felt a bit soulless but functional thank goodness for Bassam on duty in the breakfast room this morning, as on our first morning it was chaos! Everything was running out food & cups, teapots etc!
Bassam wassuper efficient, supervising youngsters who just stand around without a clue, but friendly & helpful too!
Give the man a reward.

The room was cleaner than clean, light and airy. The staff were helpful, informative and friendly. I had a small issue with one of the locked window being slightly open, allowing cold air in, but this was dealt with same day by a member of the maintenance with no fuss. The gym and pool were great. There were decent breakfast options all of which was freshly prepared. Only real complaint was the size of the duvet could have been larger given it was a king size bed I'd have expected the duvet to match, but thanks to the air-conditioning it wasn't a major issue.

The room was lovely..exactly what i expected however the spa facilities let tje hilton down..the changing room was dirty and the lockers wwre not clean. There was a mother and baby class so it wa a bit crowded. I waited ages for the guy at the desk for a padlock i ended up jist carrying my bag into the spa..which wasnt the best ...the sowers etc were a bit grotty... it definitely needs a refurb

I am a little biased because the Hilton look after me as a regular visitor. They always go above and beyond to make sure my stay is comfortable. The room is always comfortable and clean. Breakfast is always perfect (the coffee machine even behaved for my last visit).
Rachel, is not only great at her job, but she is such an amazing soul. I also really appreciate the security on the door, who make it a safe environment for everyone and he's always so friendly.

There was no towel rail to dry towels on and the shower head could not be moved up so I couldn’t stand underneath it properly.

I was very disappointed with my recent stay at Hilton Cardiff. The entire room felt extremely dated and poorly maintained. One of the most frustrating issues was the bed — it actually moved when we sat or leaned on it. It wasn’t properly fixed in place, so it would slide across the floor with even the slightest movement. This made it incredibly uncomfortable and gave the impression of very poor upkeep.

The beds was also extremely hard and uncomfortable, and i didn't sleep all night. The curtain nets on the windows were old and tired, adding to the overall run-down feel of the room.

This is far below the standard I expect from a Hilton hotel. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this location unless serious renovations are made.

The hotel itself was clean and spacious with standard decent breakfast. Also the spa area though a bit dated, is lovely with a warm good sized pool and hot tub.

The only issue is they need to pay attention to the toilets in the lobby as they are always a proper mess, almost like using public toilets in a park. Also, I would advise everyone to always check the bedding as I found out that there were horrid pee stains on the mattress topper that were hidden by clean sheets! Totally unacceptable. The fact that this is a pet friendly hotel makes it difficult to tell whether the pee stains were from a baby or a pet. This should have been washed and not merely covered with a clean sheet. Other than that, I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here as the location is perfect and the spacious and clean rooms live up to the Hilton name.

I stayed in the executive room on the top floor and it was absolutely incredible. Fantastic huge, super comfortable bed. Gorgeous view of the Cardiff castle. Executive lounge offers snacks/drinks and magazines to read. Before going out in the evening I popped in for hot/cold hors d'oeuvres and a glass of wine. Breakfast is delicious and varied. Pool had perfect refreshing temperature. And there’s great sauna/jacuzzi + separate lift to take you back to your room after the swim. The stay is truly 5/5 and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I stayed at Hilton Cardiff with my family to celebrate a special occasion, but unfortunately, the experience was quite underwhelming.

We booked what was described as a double family room, but it was just a standard room with two double beds. There was nothing particularly spacious or family-focused about it. At £265 per night, I expected a much higher standard. The hotel felt tired and clearly in need of investment, especially considering the reputation usually associated with Hilton.

The spa was a major letdown. The steam room was out of order during our stay, which we weren’t informed about in advance. The overall facilities felt more like a local leisure centre than a four-star hotel. The changing rooms were small and dated, a tap was broken, the toilets were not clean, and basic toiletries like body wash and lotion were missing. I was told they were waiting on a delivery. I even had to leave the spa to go to the gym reception to ask for basic items. There was a clear lack of attention to detail.

I chose Hilton expecting a certain level of comfort and quality, but this hotel did not deliver. What was meant to be a treat for my family ended up being a disappointment. For the price we paid, it simply wasn’t worth it. Expedia you described as luxury, you should check in future

Dreamy pillows!!

I absolutely love this hotel from the moment I walked in to waking up in the morning. Everybody couldn't do enough for you. The breakfasts were outstanding and the beds were fabulous. Not to mention the pillows which were out of this world. I need a set!!!

Great central Cardiff hotel, yet quiet in bedroom where it counts.

We were unfortunate enough to have a horrible interaction with a random person who was \"on something\" whilst using the indoor swimming pool. Somehow, he'd navigated his way from the street, past security, through the swimming pool/spa front desk and directly to the poolside. I had my 6 year old daughter with me and he walked straight up to my face as we were getting out of the pool. It was incredibly intimidating and when i complained the hotel about their lack of care, they offered me £30 discount off the room. Appalling. They also over charged us for dinner by mistake and one of their porters randomly let himself into our room whilst my wife was getting changed to bring us \"the shower gel we asked for\" that we didn't ask for. The air con was broken in the room on a boiling hot day. Overall, a disaster. Don't stay here with kids as they can't protect their own pool area.

I'm a regular at the Hilton, but this is the first time I've left more tired than when I arrived.
We had room 437 and oh my goodness it was awful for external noise. The double fire doors just kept banging and I mean wall shaking and bed rumbling, this lasted all evening and throughout the night. I was nodding off only to br abruptly awoken with very loud bangs, as someone with a heart condition this was unsettling. It resulted in me sleeping with earbuds and forest sounds just to save from jumping out of my skin.

The bathroom door doesn't close and stay closed unlesa you really push hard. The handrail to the shower was very loose, the hand cream dispenser isnfalling off the wall which looks to have been fixed to the wall multiple times. The hook on the back of the door was also wobbling. The carpet was threaded rather badly.

Everything else was great as always, the staff are always amazing but this stay really left me exhausted which isn’t great.

Wow, what a stay!

The staff at this hotel were amazing! It was our son’s birthday and the guest services manager Rachel went above and beyond by filling the room with surprises for him! He was absolutely delighted and so was his sister, as there were plenty of treats to share, plus a bottle of Prosecco for us! The room itself was spacious for the 4 of us, and very clean and well equipped. We had an issue with aircon but this was reported and someone was sent to try and sort it. Unfortunately they couldn’t before we left, but we were given a discount on our bill. The pool facilities were fab, very clean and lots of options like a hot tub, sauna and steam room! Plus, there were plenty of fresh towels. The breakfast buffet was fresh, varied and all allergens identified which was great as our daughter can’t have milk. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and smiley which makes all the difference! We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.
