En cuanto a servicio en recepción un poco malo pues hice 2 reservaciones por que no cabiamos en una habitación y pues nos pusieron en edificios diferentes, La habitación por el precio creo que le falta mantenimiento general; Los alimentos, pues más o menos, por se supone que es costa deberían ofrecer un poco más de variedad en pescados y mariscos, y bueno para los niños no les interesa mucho pues ellos son felices con las albercas y el agua del mar....en general bién por que a toda la infraestructura le falta un mantenimiento.....

This is the second time we stayed. We like the Fontan the staff is very nice this time Julie one of the entertainment staff was excellent, nice funny and made our days and each of the activities we participated enjoyable.
Thank you Julie.
The only complaint that we have is that there is a lot of people and few staff . You have to make line to eat to check in to check out to get or ask for something and thanks a lot of time to get it or for someone to bring it to you .
We asked for pillows and we never got them . Some towels and they didn’t have enough. Please pay attention to those little things that makes a lot of difference.

En general el hotel es bueno. Solo que observé que el área de alberca, restaurantes y bares. Son insuficientes para la cantidad de huéspedes que el hotel recibe. En algunos restaurantes niegan el acceso justificando que son espacios para recibir a grupos. O hasta que ven la fila enorme de huéspedes en el restaurante Palapa. Es cuando aperturas el acceso a restaurantes como el del área de jardín . En el restaurante de playa capacitar al personal en servicio al cliente. Y considero clasista que los de brazalete de socios no realicen fila en el bar, es ofensivo para quienes si realizan la fila enorme de espera a pleno rayo de sol. Sobre poblado de huéspedes.

My family and I really liked the options for dinning and their staff. There was an open Buffett for the adults and another one for the kids which was always a great option for my little one. Staff was always on top of our needs and wants. We also really enjoyed the pool and beach areas. Conveniently had showers at both beach accesses. All in all we were very satisfied with our stay at this location. Would definitely come back.

I would like to start off by saying that the hotel itself is very nice. It is in a great location. Our room was clean and spacious and had an amazing view. The grounds are well kept and the beach area is beautiful. Olivia and Susan from the front desk were amazing. That’s where it all ends. I had no idea that this was a predominantly Mexican hotel. None of the staff even tried to speak English. None of the signage was in English so we missed a lot of information. The food, with the exception of breakfast, was terrible. website said there were 3 restaurants. There was one that we could only visit every 3 days, the others were buffets that served the same food. No information was given as to what was being served. We ate all of our dinners out, despite being all inclusive. The lines for drinks were terrible. If you weren’t in line at the right time for the other meals you had to wait for a long time. The staff was rude and disrespectful on more than one occasion. The front desk laughed at me when I asked if there was a laundromat in the area. My husband and I have never felt so unwelcome and disrespected in a hotel. We will not be back.

The resort is extremely overcrowded for the size of the amenities. It is impossible to get a lounge or chair to use around the pool or beach. Pools are extremely overcrowded all day long. The condition of the common areas of the facility are not being properly maintained. Staff are very helpful and quality of food service is good but drinks require standing in line most of the time. The resort is worn out but it is being kept clean. I will look for better choices in the future.

Starting with the ONLY positive experience of out stay, our room 735 oceanfront was nice. But on our 2nd day, We were locked out of the room for about 5 hours. The door lock malfunctionrd and we could not get access to our room to wash up for dinner or access our safe for cash to go out to eat. No apology given. We stayed for 3 days. Next issue was the horrible food. The only protein offered were eggs beans chicken pork and some fish. Very poor tasting almost inedible. Beef was never served at any meal. There were a variety of vegetables offered but mostly mushed bland tasting. There is no cheese boards or fruit and nuts available. Fruits served were a mixture of papaya and pineapple chunks. Only 2 kinds of beer served. I think it was Tecate. You only had 2 options, light or dark beer. I have never been to a "resort" with only 2 beer options. All on tap served in small plastic cups. There are cocktails served. Some are good. Bartenders did their best to keep up with the crowd. Wait time IN LINE for a drink was about 10 minutes. There is no table service or beach service. Horrible experience. The beach was nice but not swimmable. Red flag was up all during our stay. So that left the 3 overcrowded swimming pools. Saturday was by far the worst day at the Fontan. There were many group tour busses on the premises adding to the turmoil. I will never visit Fontan again. And maybe just avoid the whole area completely. I've traveled to quite a few resorts and never had such a bad stay

Algunas personas del staff fueron groseros, se nos dijo que no podíamos tener camastros se nos removió nuestras cosas zapatos, toallas pero a otras personas si se les dejó tener camastro con sus propiedades, es decir que si me meto a la playa y dejo mis pertenencias alguien ma s puede llegar y quitarlas y el salvavidas permitirles que tomen nuestro lugar. Se sintió que no fuimos recibidos de buena manera como anteriormente, nos encantaba el hotel pero al ver ese trato creo que ya no sentimos lo mismo por volver hospedarnos.

This ocassion I was tterrible dissapointed, I notice that the Hotel did not care about customers anymore, Just MONEY MONEY FOR EVERYTHING.
I rented Oceanview in the app, and when I arrived the charge extra for Oceanview, the room was no clean the floor were full of constuction dust, The room beside us was in construccione making contanst noise, and the staff was no friendly sometimes. pool were oversaturated, they look extreme full, Staff at the restaurant were rude. They did not have not sugar drinks, and I think it is the last time I stay here.

Bed was pretty good Could have used a couple more pillows. The food ok. It's irritating when you stand in line for a beer for 15.20 minutes and people with a black bracelet just walks right up and gets served. After check out we wanted to sit in the lobby for an hour. Because of the noise ( bus loads of people leaving, music blaring out front and a chick on a mega phone, which must be part of their promotion geared towards the tours they're bringing in, we ended up just leaving and stood around in the airport. It was our 5th visit and we don't think we'll be back.

Yuri Prada the front desk supervisor was very rude so unprofessional. I wanted to exchange currency and they kept saying to come back at a certain time when I did they came up with all kind of excuses…very inconvenient for us that we didn’t know the area around. Hicieron de mis vacaciones una experiencia horrible ya que yo lleve a mis dos niños de vacaciones y en el area de la alberca se pasaron llamandome la atención por que el bebé no podia estar, no lo podia acostar, que no deberiamos tener, que no debe de gatear lo tuve que tener en los brazos todo el tiempo o estar en mi habitación ya que las instalaciones no cuentan ni con ábanicos y el calor en los restaurantes, lobby, bar son insoportables, las habitaciones estan muy limpias pero huelen a drenaje, siempre largas filas para todo, y super saturado el hotel. Las instalaciones del hotel muy bien, el trato de las recepcionistas espantoso, en el area de la alberca nos trataron muy mal tienen reglas y solo te estan llamando la atención por cualquier cosa y te lo dicen en muy mala forma. Saturan el hotel con gente al grado de que no comes ni tu estancia es comóda, las opciones del buffet no es muy variable y nunca hay nada gracias a que es un gentio. Las habitaciones muy limpias pero siempre huelen a drenaje especialmente en el baño y huele super fuerte. En lo particular siento que si aceptaran menos gente sus servicios serian mejores ya que nunca habia camastros ni en la playa ni en el area de la alberca, ni en el bar habia espacio para estar ahi, largas filas para la comida y desayuno, los elevadores nunca libres y solo funcionaba uno. En mi experiencia no vuelvo a hospedarme en este hotel.

They only have restaurant for the whole hotel, because if you want yo use the other one near the beach you have to wait a long amount of time to make a reservation and they are open a certain amount of time, so it is not a guarantee yo get a place. Front desk personnel was never readily available to help with our request. We were asked to come back later.

The TV in our room never did work. The technician claimed they had poor signal reception.

The shower did not have a washcloth to scrub your body.

Their all inclusive bars were extremely limited with their drinks. Only two kind of draft beer which was kept on plastic containers and not stainless steel barrels for health reasons.
Mix drinks were basic and pre-mixed, then poured in large containers to be blended with ice. If we asked for a different mix drink, we were told we needed to have a membership with the hotel.
All bottles of hard liquor on display at the bars, were empty. Makes you wonder what kind of liquor the bartender kept at hand to make the drinks???
The welcome bar by the lobby was only open from 6pm to 1am. The rest of the bars in the property were open at different hours. You had to walk around to find one that was open for service.

Their food in one of their restaurants made me sick for three days. They were not willing to take responsibility by providing medical assistance. For this reason we had to go outside the resort to find other restaurants.

I’ve been a Expedia member for several years, and I am disappointed to see that Expedia has an agreement with a Resort that does not try to provide good service to out of country visitors.

We will never go back to this Resort. We are extremely unhappy with their overall service.

This place is really made mostly for Mexican families like a previous review mentioned. If you are coming from the states this is not your best option! Most bartenders & food service staff were rude! Food wasn’t pleasing, pool was dirty (didn’t seem like it got filtered & there was a water leak on the roof in our room (maybe AC unit problems)! I would not recommend this place. I’m not one to care so much about the cost of things but it gets ridiculous when it’s “busy” season and they know your from USA. The place promises things they cannot keep. The liquor offered with the stay is watered down. The place charges for extra towels, they charge if you lose your wrist band, the things that are offered are not open at the times they are promoted as. In addition the breakfast is cold and nasty, if you don’t make a reservation “in time” you don’t get in therefore dinner is now being bought elsewhere. The service for the most part was good other than one waiter who rolled this eyes when I asked for coffee. It was a horrible experience, so I left after day two to a different one.

It's the 3rd time we've stayed here. The rooms in the original tower need to be remodeled. I believe they are working on them slowly but surely. They put water coolers on each floor since last year. A good and smart move. Less plastic bottles. It was also a lot easier to stay hydrated. The food is 3* but the service is always great. The snack bar needs a better system though. It's reasonable for the price.

By using Expedia you have no access to the Ala Carte restaurant. But for the price thats not such a big deal.. The staff at this resort are amazing, super friendly and helpful. Beach front rooms and excellent house keeping. Beach towels are starting to get thread bare and a limited number of beach umbrellas otherwise excellent value.

The hotel is on a beautiful beach, but the hotel itself is pretty outdated. The food was not great, I was expecting to go to Mexico and have fabulous Mexican food, but they tried to Americanize it too much and it wasn't great. The entire area is not very Americanized.
If you are looking for a quiet get away this is for sure not the place, if you are looking for a place to take your family and all of your kids this is definitely the place. There were tons of families and A LOT of kids. The day we arrived they closed 2 of their 3 pools for the entire week which made it so we couldn't enjoy any pool time because it was so crowded. Our last 2 nights they played VERY LOUD music until 5:00 in the morning and that only stopped because I had to go down to the front desk at that time to ask them to turn it off. I was hoping for a very quiet vacation spot, but this was not quiet, it was very busy with kids.

Extra charge

When booking 2 adults and 2 kids They charged an extra adult fee. Over $300! They said because kids over 12 count as an adult! ( my kids were 11 and 13)
I couldn’t cancel because I got the non refundable booking. When I found out about the extra charged I called Expedia . They called it took hours but they still didn’t refund my money.

The good thing about the hotel are the pools. 4 .
Staff was nice. But I’m mad about my money .

Close to beach, room smelled musty hallways and outside doors were dirty. A/C could not be adjusted to make it warmer. Room was clean just outdated. Food was not bad but a small buffet, if booked through Expedia no a la carts. Staff was great very helpful all though when they talked over loud speaker they never said anything in english. All in all not a bad hotel a 2.5 star at best good low budget vacation.

Comfortable stay-staff excellent

We enjoyed our stay. Staff were excellent. Nice location. The only concern we had was the apparent mold in hallway near our room, and in our room. Room smelled very musty. Due to mold or air conditioner?? Not sure. I would recommend to friends but perhaps one of them he remodeled rooms.

Perfect location

I booked this hotel for a few extra days before we moved to our timeshare room at another hotel. I was just looking for a place to sleep near the beach and I was pleasantly surprised by the Fontan.

It is an older hotel and it is showing its age, but the rooms were clean and the staff was wonderful. The food wasn’t bad, but downtown Ixtapa is directly across the street where you can find whatever you are looking for. The pools were clean, we did get up to ‘save’ chairs but that would not have been necessary, there was plenty of room.

Lots of local kids and families, particularly on the weekend, but I don’t mind that. Everyone was just there to have fun.

the breakfast is very good but the dinner buffet is horrible don't even go. We just ate across the street at other restaurants. Other than that service and location are great!

Nice hotel right on the beach.

This hotel is great :) We were really happy we chose it. The hotel is older, but it worked well for us. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to assist at all times. The rooms were great, and very clean, and we had amazing views from our balcony with beautiful sunsets. The hotel is a little bit ‘rough around the edges’ and could do with some upgrades here and there, but the hotel is working on doing updates, and it did not affect our holiday at all. The activities for our boys (ages 10, 12, 14) were great, and kept them busy all the time with beach soccer, ping pong tourneys, water polo, bingo, volleyball and much more. The activity staff were excellent. If you are looking for a 5* hotel, this is not it. However, if you are looking for a good value, family orientated hotel, this hotel is great. We had a wonderful family vacation, and we would stay at this hotel again. The hotel is also close to shops and restaurants across the street, and for 12 pesos, you can take the city bus into Zihua (Zihuatanejo). We also walked to the marina every morning and walked back along the beach, which is beautiful.

old hotel, makes Super 8 look good

Requested 2 rooms next to each other because traveling with kids - did not get it. Asked for 2 rooms with 2 beds each, did not get it. Only had 1 outlet in the room, loud music until midnight right outside window - no water (sink, shower, toilet - had to request it turned on) - kids rooms could not control temp. Food was OK, but bland.

It's about expectations

This is a 3-3.5 star resort. If you are attracted by the price, it is worth it, but don't expect 5-star treatment and amenities at this price point. So many reviews I read criticize the resort for things that they should not be expected to produce at this price. It is a great location on a beautiful beach, for a very reasonable price.

Didn't do Reservation right. As for joining room on the reservation, when a week earlier to confirm, they said no problem...Did not happen

Check out was terrible. Have up my room on time at noon, had two in a half hours before leaving to airport. Then cut me off of everything, no food no drinks. Nothing.

Four restaurants in hotel that were advertised could only eat in three of them. Had to pay extra for ala crate. In an all-inclusive.

Will not go back and will let everyone know .
This Hotel seems to cater more to non speaking English people.

lying with a smile

it was a mix up right from the start, the room was on the second floor right beside the trampoline and kids pool and noisy. it took two days to get what we asked for and for and paid for, ocean view with a balcony. after two days we started to unpack our bags, what a joke that was.
Because we booked threw hotels .com we could not get alacart dinners , or a ride to the airport on the buses. it was one thing after another . food was good and cleaning was staff were good. .
