Desde la llegada, la experiencia es impecable: te reciben con una calidez genuina que te hace sentir bienvenido de inmediato. Todo el personal es increíblemente amable, siempre atento y con una sonrisa, cuidando cada detalle sin ser invasivos.

Las instalaciones están en perfecto estado, todo se siente cuidado, elegante y bien pensado. La habitación es una maravilla: impecable, cómoda y con una vista que vale completamente la pena.

La alberca privada es otro nivel; la hemos disfrutado muchísimo y hace que la experiencia sea aún más especial, al grado de que no quieres salir del cuarto.

De verdad estamos súper contentos con la estadía. Cada día nos sorprenden con algún detalle, lo cual habla del nivel de atención y dedicación que tienen con sus huéspedes. El servicio, honestamente, no puede ser mejor.

Sin duda, una experiencia 10 de 10. Un lugar al que seguro regresamos.

We just finished our stay at Cala de Mar.

The positives were the property itself (the location, the design of the building, the layout of the suite, the patio, the plunge pool, and the incredible views from every part of the hotel [even the gym!]) and the amazing staff (the response to requests was speedy quick and each staff member was very friendly, kind, and helpful).

The negatives were the supplementary costs. My husband and our four friends all felt that the cost for food and beverages far exceeded the quality that was provided. We thought that either the quality and variety of food options would need to significantly improve to justify the cost, or the pricing would have to drop by at least half to justify what was being offered. The pricing of food items was a lot higher than what we pay for comparable items in the US or Canada. Our American friends also noted that they spent the equivalent of $70 USD for a tube of sunscreen at the resort (?). The pricing of the return airport transfer was also way overpriced. We were quoted 6400 pesos for that service, which comes out to $500 CND (!). Our friends signed up to use that service only to discover that they were put into a regular cab at the airport and were sent on their way. A regular cab should only cost 600 pesos (about $47 CND) each way. So it should have been 1200 pesos for a return service in a regular cab. Rectifying these elements would definitely push this property’s rating up to a guaranteed 5 stars.

This is a beautiful hotel and a beautiful location. Staff was amazing and very helpful. We did have a few issues of which management and the personal assistant fixed right away. There were some issue with the plunge pool and it emptied out three days in a row, but each time I was able to get them to fix it before we even need to use it. There was also a leak in the bathroom, which was quite substantial at one . but was at the end of our state and was resolved before we left. one item that could not be fixed and just a note for fellow travelers room number 18 beautiful Hirsch floor however you will hear pump noise for about 9 AM to 7 PM from the main pool pump which is below. Not ideal by any means, especially if you’re out on the balcony. Also, the plunge pool in room 18 is not in the sun although it’s always warm outside so it was very refreshing to literally get in and out the food at the restaurant was great a good variety the smoothies and the wellness shots were my favorite. This is a great place to stay if you want to be away from it all. Proximity to play Linda is walkable or rideable on bicycles, but not if you don’t wanna sweat getting there. Ixtapa and zihua are both pretty close for shopping and eating. Zihua is a $15-$20 cab ride each way, but definitely worth it to spend there for the day. We will definitely come back here in the future.

My stay at Cala de Mar in Ixtapa was truly fantastic. The room was stunning, featuring a private jacuzzi with breathtaking views, creating the perfect spot to unwind. The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff was warm and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

While the hotel is exceptional, a few improvements could elevate it further. First, gratuities are already included, but this isn’t clearly communicated, which can cause confusion. More transparency would enhance the experience. Second, while the food was decent, a more skilled chef would bring the dining to the same high standard as the rest of the hotel. Additionally, the Seafood Market restaurant’s reservation system needs improvement—despite requiring reservations, my table was given away to other guests.

Another issue was room service, which often took up to an hour—a long wait for a luxury hotel. Improving efficiency here would be a great enhancement.

Despite these minor issues, Cala de Mar remains an incredible destination. The breathtaking views, exceptional rooms, and welcoming atmosphere make it a wonderful place to relax. With a few refinements, it has the potential to be truly world-class. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a luxurious, peaceful, and scenic escape in Ixtapa!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Cala Del Mar. I cannot wait to return. It was the most romantic and luxurious stay I could have ever imagined and I have traveled all of the world and stayed in some incredible places. We came for our honeymoon and everyone there made it so special. I don't think I have ever felt that relaxed in my entire life. The rooms, the private infinity pool, the food, drinks and special amenities were just stunning. The margaritas were INCREDIBLE. Come here to just relax and soak in the most incredible view you have ever seen. Only downside is they don't have beach access. Our honeymoon was truly perfection because of this stunning resort and the incredible people that work there.

My partner I researched obsessively over the right choice for the first full week we’ve had in over a year to solely focus on rest, relaxation, and our relationship. With high expectations, we were blown away. From booking, the communication was superior explaining on-site and excursion options, then proceeded to sort the details for us. Given this was a vacation to escape constant day-to-day schedules, we started the week with a full detox treatment– set the tone for the most relaxing, mind-clearing, grounding, and growth we could have never planned. Because of the nearly flawless location, ambiance, amenities, service, and a broad list of options to eat in-room, one of the 3 on-site or local options, we extended.

It truly is a wellness retreat with broader appeal, providing, or facilitating, bespoke experiences. We found the prices to be as expected; do watch the bill line items as there are separate resort charges from tips, etc. The food was spectacular across each meal. We can’t wait to visit again but are very appreciative that Cala del Mar is a place for slowing down and losing yourself in the beauty.

Iur suite was gorgeous and with the patio area with the plunge pool overlooking the ocean, we barely had to leave the room. The service is excellent, the food delicious. Overall good but wedding party booked took up space by the pool, noisy and rude guests, and we had to give up our time for one day at the pool to accommodate the wedding. Music playing all night either by the pool or in the wedding party rooms. I don’t think this resort is set up for weddings they don’t have the space so it gets done at the expense of the other guests.

This was our second stay at the property. The first time, it was operated by Capella Hotels & it was marvelous. Since then the resort has been sold/rebranded as Cala de Mar and is even better (which we didn’t think possible).

The resort is situated in a lovely cove well away from the tourist zone of Ixtapa. As a result, it is a favorite destination for Mexico and Latin America residents who want to unwind in the most exclusive and relaxing way - without the typical “international” tourist demanding parasailing, snorkeling, or body-shots. That can all be found 5-10km S in the Ixtapa tourist zone.

Come here if you desire privacy, minimal distraction, amazing service and engaging conversation with regional residents on holiday.

Cal de Mar is like paradise, the place and surroundings are amazing. Staff is very courteous and attentive to detail. Unfortunately the service in restaurants is very slow, and there are a few details related to housekeeping and general maintenance that need looking into. Additionally, the prices of wines is ridiculously high. I understand mark-ups, but in this case it was too much.

Everything about our stay was amazing. The room was great, and the service provided by the staff was top notch. My girlfriend had a cold during our stay which prevented us from being able to get out but the staff made sure we were well taken care of making runs to the pharmacy and cooking off menu food. The only thing I noticed that needed improvements was the internet service. It was slow and unreliable especially during peak hours. Usually I would not have an issue with that on vacation however due to my girlfriend being ill access to Netflix would have been nice.

It was at that point I knew this resort would truly give us a first class experience. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Of course, we were welcomed with drinks and we did not have to lift a finger with our baggage because they took them from us and delivered them to our rooms once we arrived in the taxi.

We had the chance to fall asleep gazing at the stars out on our balcony and to wake up to the most beautiful sunrises. Not to mention the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the shore below us as a constant reminder that we were in paradise. We had daily room service, an evening snack delivered to our room, and nightly turndown service with an additional little treat.

Our experience was truly the best. I’d go on, but I want you to go visit so you can experience all the wonderful perks yourself. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful I’ve never had a better experience staying at any other resort, and I’ve traveled to many places all over the world.

Unbelievably Good!

This place is unbelievable. The accommodations, the location, food, service, but most importantly the STAFF. Wow. Everything about this place was phenomenal. Cannot recommend strongly enough.
