I traveled with two kids and my husband. Overall, we had a good time. The location is beautiful right by the beach. The beach is clean no vendors harassing you. You are just steps away from the beach. Across the street from the hotel you have little stores and restaurants. as I mentioned I traveled with kids. one of the main reasons I booked at this hotel was for the kids club. The kids club is very limited not very much activities. They only open for a couple hours. Another reason why I’m giving it three star is the lack of room service staff. The staff does not really answer the phone when you try to order and they have a charge every time you order. The choices of food at the resort were OK. The food was not bad, I just wish there was more choices. Overall, it was an ok resort.

Beach is amazing, staff is very hard working and room was spacious and clean. We absolutely loved, Aldolfo, who was our server on the beach. His job is very demanding but he works super hard to keep everyone in his section happy and well hydrated. He spoke very good english which is difficult to find in the hotel. The commercial area across the street is awesome and offers really good shopping options and every restaurant that we went to had good food but not cheap. Negatives were, too many guests in the hotel so one could rarely get a lounger and pool was loaded with kids/families. The lineups at the restaurants could be very long and food was not great, so we started going across the street for food. There was very little storage space in the room - no drawers and only 5 hangers.

I’m not sure how it normally is but there was a shore break here that was so loud that we couldn’t even sleep. The ocean was so strong that it pulled the lounges almost into the water. One of the focuses here was drinking as it was all inclusive. As you can imagine people were doing stupid things under the influence.

The resort was run down.

The a/c was old, very loud and ineffective.

I expected more from hotels with the IHG name on it.

We arrived to our room not being available due to them extending someone else's stay for a night. So, the trip did not begin well. We finally got our room at 5pm the next night. Adan in the beachside \"snack\" shack was the best and Cleo at the towel bar also! Both greeted us daily and made us feel welcome. We loved our beachside room, however the Emporio (hotel next door) had speakers blasting at our room until 12 or 1AM most nights. Food at the \"snack\" shack was the best. The two buffets were ok. We generally eat out most nights so the fact that the buffet was mediocre didn't matter much to us. We found it very hard to know what was going on or how things at the hotel worked. We had to seek out help often as no one really helped in that way. We have been to Ixtapa multiple times since 2005, and have tried multiple hotels over the years, if not for the loud music next door I think we would stay here again. We found staff to be kind all except the one beach waiter who would not give us the time of day EVER! He would literally come as far as our chairs and turn around. Was quite disappointing.

The staff were really nice and very helpful throughout my stay. Housekeeping was a little unusual, as I had to ask them to come and touch up the room instead of it being done automatically. The shower also doesn’t have a door, so quite a bit of water splashes out and can make a mess in the bathroom. Aside from those minor issues, everything else was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place.

The large majority of guests are Mexicans and if you don’t speak Spanish, you’re out of luck with everything programs because nothing is said in English.
The pool is very shallow, full of children. The beer on tap is non alcoholic.
Check out is long, just because the beach towels.

Location, location, location. Close to shopping, restaurants, pharmacies. Room was spotless, lots of hot water. Restaurant food was the best yet. We have been coming here for many years and the a-la-carte menu very much improved. The staff are incredible, friendly, helpful, polite, they make us feel like we are being welcomed home. The beach is amazing, great for walking every day.

We reserved a Kingsized bed room and received a 2 bed room instead but decided to keep it. The room was clean, the housekeeping staff were very good and the bottled water supply was kept full. Strangely, there was a coffee machine and ice bucket in the cupboard. No coffee was supplied (except the morning when we were checking out) and there was never an ice machine anywhere to be found. Others told us the same story. Suggestions? A small fridge would be helpful, plus packets of coffee for the supplied machine. The hotel staff are great, the ambience is one of a slightly “tired” hotel and certainly caters to Mexicans. The food is “good”, salads and fresh fruit superb. The location on the beach is very good as one can walk either way. Overall, the stay was a bit disappointing.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn many times and plan to return next year. The staff including all services we know by name. We feel like we are family . They make us feel special. We made new friends again this year. We will miss Cleophas greatly when he retires. The hotel is always clean, there are plenty of food choices, the activities are varied , the employees are always the reason we come back and never consider any other hotels.

The hotel pretty nice, but could use a little update. It does cover all the necessities. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, the food was delicious. They did this beautiful Mexican fiesta night in front of the lobby. Beautiful!!! The only bad part was that it was so packed, but we went during high demand season. To get breakfast or lunch we had to wait around 40 min to an hour since at certain times they only have one restaurant open. The staff is friendly, overall I had a pretty good experience.

location is central to beach activities and right in front of night life activities. Felt Very safe to leave hotel and explore day and night in Ixtapa. Bike trail runs in front. You can grab “urban” vans right in front. Hotel room: we got a ground level room. smelled horribly musty and almost moldy. Extremely humid outside and I did notice the smell got better as the humidity decreased the last day of our stay. Our thermostat never worked even after we asked for someone to come check it out. They supposedly unlocked it to allow us to adjust temps. Never worked. At times it was extremely cold and other times it was fine. The water temp is EXTREMELY dangerous. It could get extremely hot very quickly and actually burnt my leg when I was testing the water to shower. Make sure to test it for your kiddos as it could easily cause severe 1st degree burns. Bed and pillows super comfy. Menu: it’s ok. Not a lot of variety, wish they offered more seafood options everyday. They offer a ceviche restaurant for lunch about 4 hrs everyday but the lines are ridiculous and sometimes not worth it. Wish they had future menus everyday so we could see what the two buffets offer for lunch and dinner. Some days they were great, others blah. Staff very friendly for the most part. Speciality dinner restau. would never look full, empty tables , and yet they still would say it was full capacity and not let us reserve a spot. FAMILY friendly hotel with small pool. Lots of children and families.

Staff is excellent they try hard to assist and make a great vacation for guests. The one star is for the property. It is old and very tired and showing its age of almost 60 years. It is also extremely over crowded. Constant line ups for every amenity from food to drinks to beach towels. There is always a smell of sewage too. No idea why? But it’s gross. I booked based on reviews I read but most of then gave it 8 stars? Maybe they are paid for a good review? I do not recommend booking here.

A/C fantastic, ALL staff wonderful - friendly and helpful. We did not know, however, that Tuesday and Saturday nights are Fiesta nights. People from surrounding areas check in by bus loads… lineups for the buffet and pools overcrowded continually. Elevators not a/c and very hot. We stayed two weeks - beautiful beach, great for walking, but waves are intense. Lifeguard on duty who blows his whistle if you’re too far out.

I push just all inclusive as per the rating of this hotel.I thought it'll be a quality service and quality food will be there. The space is really congested. It's not that huge what you see through picture. It looks the space is big, the quality of the food is okay. It's not that great. There is 3 restaurant. Unfortunately, the 2 restaurants are serving the same food and one of the restaurants need, reservation. The drink what they serve to us it tastes watery rather than you feel the taste off cocktail or ale beverage. As an example, if I order a cola, it tastes like water and color. My expectations of this hotel. I thought it is quite good. The price? What I paid is not that great, as is rated as 8.

Property was a little dated but very clean and maintained well. Beach access was perfect. There were not a lot of food options, the hours should overlap instead of all closing at the same time for lunch. The lifeguard was more focused on girls and his phone and hardly watched the kids/pool/beach. No info was provided regarding property amenities or a map, and the entertainment area was closed for renovation. Overall a good stay, enjoyable for all.

Varios de los empleados tienen grandes áreas de oportunidad, mal capacitados y poco amables, en especial el Sr. Ramiro, capitán de botones, muy descortés y prepotente. Tanto así que al comentarlo con gerencia, comentaron que el Sr es todo un caso. Mejorar capacitación en empleados. Otra persona en área de bar lobby, no quiso prender una máquina de café, otro compañero le decía que podía hacerlo, que estaba en horario, pero se negó que mejor hasta más tarde. Ese tipo de detalles hacen que lugares así poerdan su encanto.

Por otro lado hay también excelentes empleados que son los que “sostienen” al hotel.

Reconocimiento para Javier e Iván en recepción, son totalmente agentes de cambio. También Virginia, Hugo y Eduardo de animación, excelentes.

I was very disappointed with my stay at the holiday inn resort. The hotel is very outdated and needs major upgrades to the structure of the buildings, elevators, and rooms. When we arrived, they gave us a room that smelled like chemicals and paint. We changed our room immediately. Then we had to wait in line for 30 minutes to eat. The pool water looked cloudy and gross every single day. The property is too small for all the guests they allow. We also had to wait in line to get and return towels, which was ridiculous!!!!! Every day I saw lines at the restaurants. Additionally, the food was terrible!!! it was the same food in each area every single day for breakfast and similar items for lunch and dinner. I’m very disappointed with this booking and I will never stay here again.

What I liked about the property was the different room locations . I liked the “Noche Mexicana” event. It was fun. The pool water on the kids side was really cloudy and had a lot of debris. Yes, it rained the days before but staff could have cleaned up the water with nets before pool opened up. The food was okay . Breakfast was poor , almost the same every morning. The burgers that were given at the buffet is the best burger I have had in my life. Not even In-N-Out compares. That says a lot. I saw more than one baby roach in my room. I think the hotel should take care of that ASAP . I’m glad it wasn’t the mom roach that flies . Anyway, overall it’s a nice hotel . Wish the pools were deeper. I’m 5’10” and in the kids side the deepest went to my belly button and on the other side, up to my ribs, so not a big difference in depth. The staff is amazing. Extremely attentive and nice.

This is a nice family oriented all inclusive, offering a budget minded price for the cost conscious. Our room had a nice ocean view that house keeping looked after everyday. The pool is large and the property borders the beautiful sandy beach.
Food is average, but dinner was varied every evening we stayed. Al a carte meal was standard 3 choice entree. Both our choices were over cooked, but the staff were attentive. If youre lucky enough to get a festival night, you're in a for a delightful night of food and entertainment.
A/C in the room did not keep up to the heat, so we were often to hot. Our room had a musty smell and despite housekeeping using deodarizers, the smell remained. Front desk was responsive to our concerns, but did not follow up, so I give them a C-.
Staff are friendly, the grounds are pretty and the property is next to local amenities.
Zihuatanejo is $160 peso ride in a cab, or the bus is 38.
The bar is open until midnight and is active with loud party music. As a senior, I didn't appreciate the noise, but anyone younger would enjoy.
The pool has a kids area then transitions to more young adult and party section. The far end is not connected and caters more to quiet, family side.
The beach is beautiful and clean, well kept, plenty of early walkers. It boasts a beautiful sunset.

Property is well located and staff are amazing. Property is old/run down but the sheets/towels are clean. We stayed on a Friday/Saturday night and there were special dinners with entertainment outside providing for a more authentic experience. The entertainment and music lasted until 5am so light sleepers should be aware.

Was pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed the resort. We went just for 3 nights, but had a great time, food was really quite good, as we’ve been to many All-Inclusive places, and many expensive spots, have terrible food. Workers there were ALL excellent! We take the bus, as we live in Mexico, and all we do is walk across the street to hotel! Loved it, can’t wait to return
