DON'T GO TO THIS RESORT!!!!!! the hotels cleanliness was terrible. Everyone in my family got a food born illness during our stay except for my husband. My six year old was vomiting uncontrollably on our second night from the reservation Italian restaurant. He was so ill that he wasn't better for the rest of the trip. I started to notice at the swim up bar and the snacks stand that the servers were washing the dishes by hand rather than using a dishwasher. This is clearly why we got sick. In the morning all the items were fresh and hot from the dishwasher but clearly the staff were far too lazy and would rather wash the items by hand than trolly them back into the restaurants. They were not using the proper hand wash method with bleach either. My kids ended up contracting Hand Foot and Mouth disease from the kids pool. The children's pool area looked clean upon first inspection but after my daughter mentioned green slime that she slipped on, up near the slide I had a further investigation. Turns out children aren't as important as adults at this resort. All it would have taken was one pool guy to notice and clean but there was green slime all over the landing of one of the slides, which meant the area wasn't being cleaned properly. I'm sure this is where he contracted Hand Foot and Mouth as it is very contagious. We have been home for three days and been to Emergency back here in Canada and it is confirmed HMFD. Now my daughter also has contracted HFMD.

This hotel has a lot of fun activities and the staff is very friendly. At checking I was not provided with the rollaway that my reservation included because of possible floor damage to the recently remodeled bedrooms’ floors. After talking to the staff and the manager the issue was resolved.

bad experience when checking in, one of the rooms not available, rooms in poor condition, air conditioning does not work in one of the rooms, in the others the thermostats did not work, there is no mini bar in the rooms, if you need water at night or something refreshing you need to call room service, the beds did not smell good and the only thing they told us when asking for help with all the problems, they said that the best rooms are for the hotel members, when booking through website or application does not guarantee rooms , first and last time at this hotel.

The food was good, the rooms comfy and clean, the resort within short distance to shopping area (besides the hotel's store).The location is great, the beach is wide, clean, safe and very pretty. The vendors on the beach are not aggressive or overbearing, and carry "licenses".

The staff we got to know were fantastic. 2 named Omar and 1 named Santos. They were friends to us, always glad to see you and genuinely happy at their jobs. Access to the beach is a little challenging. Food was good, breakfast is excellent. Loud and I mean LOUD, thumping music on the pool deck needs to be eliminated. We won't be going back.

The property is roughly 30 years old and the rooms are clean; however, the property is slightly dated. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was extremely tight for shower/restroom. If you are OK with those comments then the rest should be very good. Solid food at the buffets each day, great friendly service, great beach with ample lounge chairs. Great views from the room, great AC in the rooms and we had a fantastic balcony with an ocean view. They had entertaining shows almost nightly which was nice unless you want to sleep before 10:30 PM and then the sound was rather loud in the rooms. For cost to value - I would say this was an excellent option.

It was a good value for the money. Great service and environment. We really enjoyed the place. The only downside was the ocean beach. Ocean had high waves that was too dangerous to go swimming for anyone. I am surprised that no one mentioned in the reviews that it could be dangerous and impossible to swim. The same applies to all near by hotels/resorts. We were there at the beggining of July and not sure if it the same all your round.

There were so many children at the resort could not use the pool. The local guests were rude and cut in line at buffets. One restaurant server would not give us bacon as we were “Americanos”. The maid one day took the money we had put on pillow for her and left without cleaning room. Had to get another maid to clean it. Would not stay here again.

The Staff was very friendly and it is right on the beach. I enjoyed the location as it is on a nice beach. Also, there are several beach chairs for people as I saw some other Hotels had very few. I purchased the All Inclusive and for Drinks I loved it, but for Food there weren't too many options. Overall, I would still return just wish they had a few more food options.

In Ixtapa, I have stayed at Holiday Inn, Brisas, And Barleco. Of all Royal Park was the worst. The pools were small and unclean. The rooms were nice but the bathrooms were unclean. We had to call maintenance because the shower backed up.
What we did enjoy was the variety of food. The Italian restaurant was excellent.

Loved the cleanliness and decor of the restaurants. The food was good but they served the same dishes everyday. However, the food was amazing in the Italian restaurant. The main pool doesn't have a area for adults only. There is a kids pool but is more for 10 and under so the older kids are everywhere jumping shooting water guns. Kid don't belong at the pool bar playing on the stools. in floats and water guns and jumping off the island where adults are talking and enjoying the water. The main pool should have an adult only section for those people who are taking an adult vacation.

Return trip to Ixstapa after a 12 year absence. Very nice Mexican resort setting. Much safer than what other areas have been reported to be. Hotel food, service, pool area, and beach top notch. All inclusive bar service a plus. Entertainment nightly in the lobby bar area. Very pleasant experience.

This is a nice resort for locals and especially children as it is what it caters to. We went because my niece and her husband invited us to celebrate their 10th anniversary with them. The stay was ok except for a couple of things. One was the nightly barrage of music from the disco every night from 11-2AM. My brother and his wife had to get another room on the other side of the noise in order to get sleep. My wife and I saw it as an annoyance, but still was able to get our sleep. The worst part was the continuous requests to give them just an hour of our time to hear about their hotel time share. The very first day we told them we were not interested, but a couple of ladies would not let up. They cornered my wife out last full day at the resort and told her it would help them out as they were on commission and had to reach a quota. Also, that their boss was watching them right then and he was very mean. My wife said I'll go talk to your boss and they said, oh he doesn't speak English. And it went on. My wife told then if it's so bad why don't you get another job, but that lead nowhere either. My wife finally called me (I was by the pool) and she asked if we could do it for them. I basically hung up. As a result my wife stayed in her room the rest of the day feeling bad for not "helping" these ladies.

We had so many issues at this hotel. Since we got there they charged us wrong then when we came back to get our room key they charged us again due to their mistake. The food was horrible, the same things and the snack bar the hamburger meat was raw. The employees where not very accommodating every time we asked to put tables together they had excuses of why they couldn’t. We got an upgrade to ocean view but the view was not that great. We would never go back to this hotel. The only thing that was good is that it was very close to the dolphin place. Other than that there is nothing good about this hotel. The food was the worse part. Bad experience overall.

The staff are amazing. Very friendly and make the trip very fun. Room was ok for some reason when we showered water would get all over the floor no matter how we moved the shower head. (That said no one else in our group of 8 had that problem) the room kinda had a moldy smell one other couple had the same. The food is ok kinda boring the menus don't change much we ate put a lot so that really wasn't to big of a problem. Nice pool. (Lots of kids at the swim up bar) the beach is beautiful. The resort overall is very clean. If u don't like loud music ask for a room off the first floor we were on that floor the band is pretty loud until midnight. I would probably stay here again.

I made reservations 50 minutes prior to arriving, but the hotel had s hard time finding my reservation. I had to call Orbitz support and although they faced in the information the hotel still took another hour to get me checked in. They mentioned, they’ve had other people scammed them in the past with bogus reservations so they take longer to check in people when the reservation is made within the same day. Other thang the check in everything else was fine. I’ve never had this issue in other hotels in Mexico so it was odd.

My stay started out well with the hotel giving me an ocean view upgrade but there were a few issues. The power went out on my floor one early evening for a few hours, I got stuck in one of the elevators for a while (it just stopped moving and the doors wouldn’t open- finally they did) and the Wi-Fi was down for about 24 hrs towards the end of my stay. The food was good, employees good and hotel facilities were nice. You can “reserve” a sun lounger in the mrng with your towel, if you don’t... be prepared to ask then wait but they will bring you some.

There were so many kids in the swim up bar pool that you couldn't even get to the bar. There was a wonderful kids pool but hardly no kids in it because they were all in the adult pool. And the Mexican guests were very rude in the morning when trying to get a lounger. They saved a bunch of loungers which we observed that weren't sat in all day. Never again will we stay there.

We enjoyed our stay here. The food was average, always able to find something I like. It was busy with families which is fine but the swim up bar was crawling with kids. There is a bridge tgat separated the pool Into 2 pieces. A small section with a swim up bar and then a very large area. I cant understand why the hotel doesn't relegate children to the main pool area and the kids pool with the really cool water park and leave the adults a small section where we can relax and not be constantly splashed. The staff and grounds were excellent. I probably wouldn't go back as I'm looking for a more adult friendly experience.

Food was ok at best. The location is the best part of the hotel. Drinks were free which was nice with the all inclusive. The bed and pillows were absolutely terrible but the ocean view was great. Wouldn't recommend to a friend. There has to be better locations with better food.

Full size beds with old mattresses that need to be replaced. Only if you upgrade and pay$150 more dls they give you a room on the second floor which doesn't change that much then they tell you if you become a member then you get a nice room on the very top. Not good quality food, no entertainment at night they send you to the bar across the street called "mangos" where you have to pay for your own drinks.

I would rate this hotel much higher EXCEPT there was a night club on the property that opened around 10 PM and didn't close until 5 AM and the entire time music and the DJ was blaring through the night making it impossible to sleep. Also, the hotel advertises 3 restaurants, which is true, but one of them is open at a time. Food was good, staff was amazing!

The Hotel is an older facility, that said, it was very well taken care of. The largest issue with this resort was that the food always seem to taste the same. The Restaurants were appointed nicely, but the food was bland overall. The Pool Bars were staffed well and accommodated with enough of choices (note to others, bring an insulated mug for whatever you want to drink to minimize trips to the bar) however the drink cups are quite small.
Staff were were very nice to work with on any questions or services requested.

WELL MANAGED MID-RANGE HOTEL

This was our second vacation at Park Royal. It is a very well managed mid-range all-inclusive property offering outstanding value. The friendly, helpful staff is on par with five star hotels and adds greatly to the experience. Guests are never hungry or thirsty with food and drink available all day and night.
The beds are very hard but we asked for and immediately had a soft-top placed over the mattress. The open air entertainment is loud until midnight. Running the AC helps dampen the music. The "Garden View" rooms with king beds actually face the ocean but are on the lower/louder floors. Regular and delux rooms with king beds are in higher/quieter floors. Rooms with two beds face south and are much quieter.
Although there is an abundance of food served by an army of servers the qualify of the food is bland. Reservations can be made at the Italian restaurant and requires slacks, shoes and shirts with collars.
There are better hotels but in our experience none offering a better cost-value proposition.

We did enjoy the stay - although food choices were limited the food was actually really good for an all - inclusive. The specialty Italian restaurant was really really good! Our only complaint was my husband left his cell phone in a cab from the hotel to a fishing excursion and attempting to have the hotel staff track they told me there was no way to track a cab that left their hotel as they are independent owners and drivers of the cab however, once the guys were on the fishing boat the fishing boat captain did track down the cab, the cab driver delivered the phone to our hotel which we provided a handsome tip his way, and then the cab driver told us that they all work for a cab company and that the hotel has a log of a cab number and time of pick up from the hotels so..... they made no attempt to help us with this situation but thank goodness for the boat captain! Phone back in hand! Although our stay was very enjoyable - great wait staff on the beach during the day - clean rooms - happy about the food and wonderful beach - we were really disappointed with the lack of trying to help us in a bad situation with the phone - guess they didn't want to do anything extra. Would stay again but just know they don't seem to go outside there normal to assist you.

Staff and service was excellent. Rooms left much to be desired. No refrigerators or coffee pots. Rooms need updating. Food was terrible and drinks were watered down. Money would have been better spent on a cruise

Be careful.....

I have stayed in many resorts in Mexico, so know the drill. I have never written a review but felt it may help someone else make their decision. There were 3 things I will identify as positive. The staff was excellent. The food quality was excellent. The price was literally almost half of what we could find at the time. So, in our case "you get what you pay for". As I said, the food was excellent quality, however very little selection. By far the lightest options I have ever experienced in all-inclusive. If you want to dine in the Italian restaurant, you will need to stand in line at least 30 minutes for a time before 8pm and you will be competing with people who book by phone. And, if you want a palapa, you need to be up well before 5am. The last day we were there, I was at the pool at 5 am and no palapas were available. The gym has 5 machines and the only thing that worked was a nautilus weight machine, the rest were unplugged and pushed into a corner. The store was only open the last 2 days of our trip with sheets hanging over the windows the other 7 days. Bring a flashlight because there are no lights turned on before 7am. It is literally pitch black in the halls and I used my cell phone to navigate. DO NOT walk barefoot anywhere near the pool. I saw 3 people fall on a single day. The WORST was the day passes. At 10:30 the pool goes from quiet to inundated with at least 50 screaming kids with every type of imaginable floatations device.

Not fancy but everything you need!

We got a great deal on this hotel and couldn't of asked for anything more! The hotel was clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They don't have much for waiters around the pool during breakfast and lunch hours but otherwise they will be there. The bar staff is awesome! The hotel was very clean!! They were constantly mopping, washing walls, etc. incredible pride was put into the hotel. The hotel was not a fancy hotel by any means but it was clean and fun and that is all that mattered to us! It is in a great location compared to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was fine it has a egg station for any way you want them made. The outside restaurant was better than the indoor in my opinion. Lunch we mostly ate at the outdoor station and the restaurant has a grill going with a bunch of salads and stuff. I felt everything was very safe to eat. Dinner was not great. If you can get into the Italian restaurant do so otherwise I would suggest checking out some of the amazing restaurants all around the restaurants around the hotel. Down by the marina there was some very good ones and the one directly across the hotel with the eiffle tower was also very good! The american dollar is strong so prices are very reasonable just make sure you convert to pesos.
