This is one of my favourite lodgings. What makes this property unique is the staff, from service in recreational areas, cleaning, entertainment and restaurant service, everyone is eager to help guests. The place is clean y well kept, although facilites are older. Beach access is great, and there is also accessibility to walk to Playa Linda and visit Ixtapa Island. Amazing place and looking forward to my next stay!

Definitely would recommend paying extra for the beachfront property bc if not you run the chance of being far! Everyone was so nice that worked their and food was good! Breakfast was my least favorite! Our rooms shower did run on the cold side but overall would stay again

Our stay was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The staff were so kind, and the majority remembered our names - truly, we felt important amongst all the other guests, which was unbelievable. The food was all delicious. There were frequent activities. The environment is absolutely stunning. I will without a doubt be back.

Being close to the ocean and hearing the waves was very relaxing. The wildlife from raccoons, various types of birds and of course the crocodiles and iguanas and lizards. Loved the flowers on the property.

This budget resort is the very last resort at the north end of the hotel zone. It’s very secluded and not within walking distance from anything, except for a few local vendors by the pier. The property is clean, but out dates. The buffet style food in the two restaurants, is very plain and of average quality. The front desk staff at the resort are extremely friendly and accommodating. Nightly themed entertainment shows are included, as well as guided use of the resorts kayaks and sail boats. Gracias!

room could be updated, but did not spend much time in it. The property itself is clean, including the beach and pool area. Eating areas are very clean also. Much activities if you choose to participate. Adult pool is wonderful. No children allowed. The activities team is absolutely fabulous. The shows at night were pretty good and catered to all ages. The food was typical resort food. I am a vegetarian and I survived. We were pretty much the only Americans there and they did an awesome job communicating with us and we felt very safe and comfortable. Many shops and nature reserve within a couple minute walk. There were 2 of us and I recommend going to the taxi counter before you exit the airport. Cost around 40 dollars total. Stayed for 9 days and will definitely return. I am hoping the same staff will be there!

Everyone from waiters to bartenders to housekeepers , security even the hands on manager were very caring and attentive.The drinks and food were very tasty.The only thing was the shower was a little cool after a long day other than that this resort was a wonderful stay.Definitely would recommend.

The hotel is very clean, the staff very friendly and hardworking, the Mexican food is excellent, the other foods are not as good as the Mexican, the shows were great, we enjoy our time.

It is a hotel with outdated facilities, for example, they do not have an ATM and it is difficult to have cash, they use a key instead of a card. Is an observation, maybe in the future they can updated, but is not a big deal, we love it

Although the property is simple it is clean and the staff are the real jewels here. They are amazing people, friendly, helpful and are all are very good at their responsibilities. Do not come here if you do not want to try speaking Spanish, or if you want some slick high end experience. But If you want to see families having fun together and experience happy people all around you, then come. The food is not great but the bartenders are amazing. We tried to tip as many people as possible, but if I could give them ALL a raise in pay, I would! Thank you Fabiola, Eduardo, Felix, Yavir, Jesus, Brenda and everyone else! we had a lovely time and my husband was a short walk from a great surf break. oxxo

The staff are wonderful. We like the smaller, resorts. You never have to fight for chairs at the beach or pool. We were treated like royalty. This was our third time at this resort and it never disappoints. The beaches are great and you can walk for ever. The water is swimmable. Would return in a heart beat.

My husband and i stayed at the Qualton 11/17-11/25.
We had a lovely room, with ocean view. The staff were all very friendly, the meals wetr tasy, there were lots of activitirs for those who wanted to participate, games in the pool, volleyball court, basketball, adult only pool. Right on the beach, which had many water sport options and parasailing! We highly recommend this place, we were the only guests from the U.S., it had a smaller, more personal feeling. No high rise buildings on the property, we had no difficulties navigating and enjoying our stay.

Incredibly friendly staff, good food, and a lot to do for quite a small resort. We stayed here for two weeks and had an awesome time (and at such a great price)! Housekeeping was phenomenal and very attentive. Our only complaint was the advertisement of free wifi - it is very unreliable and was completely nonexistent in our suite.

Qualton Club Ixtapa is an older all inclusive hotel catering mostly to national tourists. The hotel grounds are clean and well maintained but dated. The food quality is pretty good for a low price all inclusive hotel. The beach is a darker sand beach but the water is warm and the waves are gentle, great for swimming. The sunsets are amazing. If you are not a high maintenance person this will definitely work for you.

Amazing staff, amazing location, and amazing price. Veronica was above and beyond one of the best customer service hospitality staff members I have ever met (I worked as a property manager for Marriott for ten years), our housekeeper kept our room spotless and left the towels in the shape of animals (my wife was really impressed), never encounter a staff memeber that wasn’t helpful or smiling. Location location location right next to crocodile habitat, on the beach, and pier for Ixtapa island is a 100 yards from hotel. There is even an area with little stores selling touristy stuff, and multiple food vendors next to hotel. A bus stop and taxis right outside hotel gate. A show every night, dancing, and many activities through the day. The room wasn’t amazing but clean and had an ocean view. Buffet not amazing (breakfast was the best) but was ok. The private dinner on the beach(complimentary) probably the most romantic dinner I’ve had with my wife and food was amazing. Read other reviews about how staff doesn’t speak English and other hotel guest were all Hispanic. This gringos Spanish isn’t that good and I got along fine, and guess what your in Mexico. For the price I can’t imagine a better deal, we’re already putting money aside so we can go back next year.

A Diamond in the Rough..

Feb.26-Mar.23, 2018. My wife and I spent 25 relaxing days at this all-inclusive Mexican resort. We arrived early afternoon, checkin was quick and reception was excellent. Hotel is a bit dated but everything functional. We had an ocean view room on 2nd floor..huge balcony. Air condition with remote was excellent as we had 30 c. and total sun everyday. No problem with hot water. The staff was excellent. One main buffet restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (different cuisine each night. Saturday was Mexican night with tables and buffet set up outside in front of entertainment stage (dinner and show!,) fantastic food, especially my wife's favourite freshly fried churros. There is a restaurant by the beach serving lunch (usual burgers, hotdogs, fries). Mon, Wed, and Fri. they set up an a-la-carte Sunset restaurant by the beach, 5 star dining, reservations a must! Very nice beach (Playa Linda), dark sand with gold specks. There are about a dozen palapas with Adirondack style chairs on the beach, but we preferred to relax by the pool with the swim up bar which was adults only. A security guard was always nearby to enforce this rule. This resort is basically an all Mexican family resort, lots of kids, parents and even grandparents. Most of the staff do speak a little English, but knowing a little Spanish would help. We've travelled 20 yrs to all inclusive resorts booking with the \"big tour companies\" and this trip we've found this gem resort..no luxury, but authentic!

Fine dining on the waterfront, dance shows, disco, water sports, swimming pools and ample beach front, this place has it all! Topping it off is the smiling, attentive and super helpful and friendly staff. We especially enjoyed sailing and kayak ride to the nearby island with 4 amazing beaches!
Can't wait to visit again.

Arrived to happy reception but NOBODY spoke English....took to our room..vary sparse..only lukewarm water ..one pillow and safe a hole in wall with padlock and key...Beach was mud with no beds anywhere...went to get a drink..menu thrown at us and they laughed and chatted to themselves..we were only non Mexican and just starred at and uncomfortable..had no idea where to get food and when we did it was not good :(..woke up to worst septic smell in room and had to move to balcony to sleep as both felt sick..we had paid for week but left next morning and had to pay for another hotel for a week :( ...never written a complaint before but when you save for vacation and have to leave it's heartbreaking :(
Hope Expedia will help with a little compensation ?

We were the only Americans at the hotel so if my husband didn't speak some Spanish it could have been an issue. The staff was nice about trying to understand my husband . The rooms were nice and I enjoyed the towel art. The foodoctor was okay not enough verity.

Pleasant affordable destination relaxing fun fun.

The weather couldnt get any better. 77-85 The ocean is a lot of fun clean sandy beach and shore. The staff are all happy, they serve you with a smile and make every effort to comfort any needs. From dining, extra curricular activities, drinks from any of the many bars available. Even teach Spanish interpretations for correct pronunciations. We were well schooled. We stayed for 3 weeks treated like we were residents. Very affordable accommodations, great food every day, the produce is all just awesome fresh vine ripe so flavorful. If you have little kids their will be many others for them to play with seperate from the adult pool with bar. The shows at night are entertaining for all ages, the out dinner event are outstanding. It was fun sorry to leave.

Mostly Mexican people stay there, very little English spoke. Did not stop our group on having a great time! The food was good, absolutely beautiful location! Hotel is right across from Ixtapa Island, $2.50 boat ride round trip per person, beautiful, snorkeling and restaurants, wild life on the Island. No coffee makers or refrig in rooms, older hotel, made do! Only complain would be the loud microphone use, exercising AM, children activities thru the afternoon! Smiles and tips make for fast friends, would go back! Bus outside takes you to town or Zihuatanejo for 14 peso, $.70!

We stayed tor 12 days. We loved it. The staff was great spoke a little broken English, but much better then our broken spanish. The food got old after 7 days, but was o.k. Drinks are good and so was the service to get them. We went on the kayak they offer to Ixtapa island, it was fun ! Evening show was fun to watch. We will be back.

Great 2nd Visit .... there will be more!!

We just love this place. Great location ... friendly faces, many who remembered us from the previous year .... and the most awesome scenery you could imagine. Love the walks on the beach at night .... we had the whole beach to ourselves. This beach has gold dust mixed in with the sand. You have to see it to believe it. Very kid friendly! Lots of little ones, but they did keep the adult pool ... adults only, which was nice to get away from the little ones for a while.

For a 2.5 is rated correctly. Food need to be presented with a higher standard. Price is high for the services and installations prvoided. My food server Aide at the snack and dinner buffet on Sunday, May 22 was awesome and went the extra mile to provide an excellent customer service.
Safe never worked in my room, according was not working properly. I forgot my key and when employee came to open it for me she didn't even ask for an ID or name register to the roo5, very insecure.

Great vacation!!

Really loved this place and will return!! The beach is amazing ..... kind of a charcoal gray with gold specks all over! And soooooo clean ... and nice swimming right out in front of. The food was great, although you have to like to try new things. They had so many choices, you couldn't help but find something you liked. The staff always went out of their way to help you. It does help if you know at least a little Spanish, but if you try to use a little Spanish and tell them you are learning, they will most likely share the limited English they know also. Really liked that they had two pools and one was kept strictly adults only. Also liked that with the all inclusive, drunken and loud behavior was kept to a minimum.

Needs to be updated which was expected. English is not easily understood, but knew that as well, and managed with limited Spanish. The room: door stop near the toilet was an invitation to toe stubbing, balcony uncovered and unusable with only 2 cheap plastic chairs. While rooms were cleaned efficiently, one day we only received one towel, and another day somebody came and took the towels at 9am, and no replacements until late afternoon. Two bottles of water are in the room, a note on the bottles state that if you want more than the two provided, you will need to pay. In terms of restaurants, there is a limited snack bar, and a buffet. The buffet is closed 11:30 - 1 pm, and 4-7. No food available anywhere between 11:30 - 12:30. No food permitted out of restaurants, so forget about eating at your palapa. I saw birds eating the uncovered food in the buffet. Effort needs to be made to prevent this. Open air disco will keep you awake until after 2am. At every all-inclusive we have been at, at check-out if catching a later flight, you could still use the resort facilities. That is not the case here. We checked out just before noon, and were only permitted to wait in the lobby. This was a problem, as we had not yet eaten that day, and were expecting to grab a bite from the snack bar when it opened at 12:30 prior to leaving at 1pm. I had also not eaten at all the day before due to a stomach ailment. When we explained we had not eaten, the clerk just pointed at the checkout sign.

Very few employees spoke any English making it difficult to communicate! The drink selection was HORRIBLE!!! One beer choice, and very limited mix drink ability! The management did not do one helpful thing to make people feel comfortable. The constant dance music got old fast! We went on vacation to get away from kids not to deal with other people's kids, to many kids! There are a couple of very helpful and great employees at this resort!! Bartender Oliver and event planner Tiger were VERY GOOD!!!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Qualton. They upgraded us to a ocean view at no charge and we hadn't even asked! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of the staff knew English, but not all, so we learned a lot of Spanish on this trip-it was fun, and the staff tried hard with communication. The food was authentic Mexican which we love, but we did leave the resort a couple of times to eat, just for the variety. Location was good, right on the beach with beautiful Playa Linda right around the corner. It was a little more secluded from the strip so not many beach sellers, but just a short bus ride away was the shopping district so we chose to shop as opposed to the shopping coming to us! Only drawback was the hard bed, but that is the same in every hotel I've ever stayed at in Mexico regardless of star rating, so its to be expected. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be immersed in an authentic Mexico experience.

Beautiful views and great people

The staff where absolutely wonderful. Some difficulty with communication as I don't speak much Spanish however, the staff were always very eager to help ( I learned a little Spanish and they learned a little English). The rooms were dated but very clean. The activity personal where the best! Went kayaking to Ixtapa Island, snorkeling, biking riding, karaoke, volleyball and much more! Little shops by the pier had great souvenirs and great prices. The open bar drinks were great. The only down fall was the food. It was very traditional Mexican and not to my liking however, others at the resort appeared to love it. I would definitely return. Not your fancy high rise but just absolutely beautiful.

Clientele mainly domestic tourists and mainly families as opposed to singles and couples. This is in Ixtapa's second hotel zone, removed from main drag. Fewer amenities in immediate neighborhood but still nice. Beach good. Hotel staff very eager to please. Food not top notch but OK.

As good as we remembered!

We stayed at the Qualton for a week 11 years ago. Since then we have traveled to many places in Mexico. We continued having extremely fond memories of our time at the Qualton. \"They\" always say \"you can't go back\". We were wondering if going back to the Qualton would prove our memories had exaggerated the positive aspects of the Qualton. Our memories were correct. We had a fantastic time of activities & relaxing. We love that the food is real Mexican food. It is sometimes difficult to get good Mexican food at an all inclusive. The rooms are comfortable and very clean! The views are amazing! We loved the food! Really like that because the weather is always perfect we ate every meal outside in the fresh air. (I hate going to Mexico in the winter to get away from the cold and have to wear a sweater in the restaurants) WE LOVE THE QUALTON CLUB! Hope to go back soon!

It is right on the beach so location is great right next to the water taxi that takes you to the Ixapa Island. The food was good authentic mexican buffet style. The drinks were wonderful. They had everything you could need....several bars, volleyball, jazzersize on the beach, kayaking, snorkeling, jet skis, parasailing, alligators, an adult pool and a kiddie pool, entertainment at night....what else is there!!!! Only problem is that there were no handicap steps and railings into the pools which made if difficult for the elderly to go swimming and anyone handicapped to make use of the pools. Many water and other sports available. Excellent for young families.

Arrived on a Thursday afternoon (Feb 6) check-in was a breeze. Alex the bellboy took our bags and while taking us to our room he gave us the tour of the hotel grounds, very helpful. We stayed 9 days and enjoyed everyone of them. The food, shows. pools, grounds, bars were good. Being so close to Ixtapa Island was a bonus, we spent 3 days there enjoying the beach, food and drinks, and the great massages (by Marta) at Paraiso Escondido, look for the Mexican, American and Canadian flags and ask for Tina at the restaurant. Fishing off the pier was fun, didn't catch anything but talking and watching the locals was interesting. We have stayed in Ixtapa area twice before but enjoyed the Playa Linda area much more, quiet and relaxing. Went deep-sea fishing caught sailfish one day and lots of Bonita's another. Look for Capt. Gilberto Guzman of Zihuatanejo he knows where the fish are. Cons of the hotel, beach has mulch-like debris, restaurants and bars close for lack of people Mon-Thur, Weekends are busy, NO COFFEE early! 6:45 if you're lucky and then its not fresh. Hotel grounds lighting are shut-off at 6:00am so bring a flashlight!

Great location & wonderful staff

January 11th to 25th, 2014 My wife and I spent two Wonderful weeks at the Qualton. The Pacific was warm, the pool was fun, the food delicious and the drinks were great. But what was the most delightful were the front desk people, the waiters and bar staff who were polite, friendly and delightful to deal with. Thank you Qualton for a great vacation.

Our extremely white and tall family went to the qualton last year for spring break. The price was right, so we did it! When we arrived, the shuttle driver asked if we were sure we were going to the Qualton? We soon discovered why he asked. We were the only American people at this resort. Since we are comfortable just hanging out with our family, it was no problem......but we also love the Mexican people and culture.....so with our limited Spanish skills, we decided to join the fiesta! We had a blast and loved being with everyone and truth be told, I believe they loved being with us!!

Great service and quiet relaxation

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel, staff and ease of check in. They welcomed us by name! It was clear that this is a hotel that is popular with Mexican families on vacation but we were welcomed by the other guests with open arms. As the only two non-Mexicans (of almost 400 guests) we were a bit overwhelmed at first but were adopted most evenings by families inviting us to dance and eat with them! It only takes a few words of Spanish to have others open up to you! The room was cleaned (with lovely towel sculptures every day) and the view of the ocean was magnificent. The activities staff are among the hardest working I've ever seen! Meals were served buffet style so not always piping hot but a good variety. Don't be detered by the star rating: it was great! The drinks flowed freely, the staff served us by the pool and there was almost no need to reserve chairs by the pool early in the morning to ensure a spot. The lobby bar was opened early several nights by staff as we were sitting playing cards: we appreciated that extra attention! The palapas on the beach were lovely and drink service there by hotel staff was an unexpected plus. Remember to bring bug spray as the mosquitos can be very aggravating but it is beside the crocodile habitat! No worries, though it was well fenced! Smudgepots were used but they weren't that bad. It is 11km from Ixtapa but the bus runs regularly for 8 pesos. We only felt the need to go into town twice. A lovely quiet get-away!

Great Place to Feed MOSQUITOS

The hotel is right next to natural crocodile habitat and this is probably the reason for the large number of mosquitos out in the evenings. Not sure what was worse though, the bugs or the smoke the hotel staff was spreading around the guest areas. During dinner a staff member would be walking around the dining room with a bucket of smoking charcoal to try to eliminate the mosquitos but by the time dinner was over I felt like a smoked ham.
The food was not too bad but seemed very simialr every night, just a different colour sauce, but still tasted much the same.
The beach was calm, waves not too large so it made it easy for swimming. The beach was cleaned each evening and that made it nice.
The girl that made the rooms up was very nice and very much an artist. It was a race to get back to the room after she was there to see what she had left this time. She would make animals or figures from towels and decorate the bed with flowers, very nice.
There were activities such as kayaking and biking but that was only with staff suprvision at certain times.
To go any where, shopping or dining out, it was a long bus ride or expensive taxi ride.

Fantastic famoly vacation!

Staff was fabulous and friendly. Mostly Mexican tourists - very down to earth. Beach and pool great. Fishing great! Snorkeling good. Food was excellent. This was our third time here - we keep sending family members, and they all love it! This is a basic, small resort - not fancy, location and activites are great.

\"Not Fancy\" but \"Totally Relaxing\"

If you want a fancy high rise resort don't go here. It is simple, close to the beach, and very relaxing. The grounds are kept up beautifully with all the flowers. Room was very clean and motel had great hospitality. Food was as expected at most all inclusive buffets. Fresh fruit and genuine Mexican food was great. Not many of the motel workers spoke much English but worked very hard to communicate with us. Many Mexican families choose to vacation at the Qualiton which made our visit to Mexico very authentic.

En general, todo estuvo bien, solo que las instalaciones son algo anticuadas, la música de la disco bastante retro y repetitiva toooodos los días...la atención de algunos miembros del personal NO muy buena (bar margaritas, disco, área de toallas - aclaro, solo una mujer de baja estatura, llenita y morena con muy mala actitud), del resto el trato fue excelente; habitación e instalaciones limpias y funcionales...

Todo muy bien, personal muy amable, las habitaciones muy limpias, en la playa puedes caminar hasta 30 metros y el agua te llega abajo de la cintura, solo que el Internet no llega a ningúna parte del hotel solo el looby. Si te ubicas en los camastros que están pegados al hotel azul Ixtapa te puedes conectar al internet de este hotel, de ahí en fuera todo excelente.

La habitación limpia y fresca, buen aire acondicionado.
Alimentos suficientes, ricos, falta variedad.
Áreas verde muy bien, bien cuidado, agradable.
Alberca, cuenta con dos albercas, una de adultos muy bien para aislarse de los peques. y otra familiar, muy amplia, con diferentes alturas para los más pequeños. Ambas climatizadas.
Piso de la alberca en malas condiciones por ahora, falta darle mantenimiento, muchos azulejos sueltos o faltantes.

En general fue una buena estancia.
Pros: Fácil acceso del hotel a la playa y para llegar de la alberca a las habitaciones ya que están cerca y el hotel no es de elevador ni pisos. Es un conjunto de habitaciones como de 10 en 10 (planta baja y primer piso) distribuidas en la propiedad.
La comida es buena.
Las bebidas son buenas.
Hay actividades en la alberca a lo largo del día y la alberca cierra a las 8.

Contras: Solo hay Wifi en algunas partes como el lobby, bar y albercas. Habitaciones no.
No hay You tube en el menú de la televisión.
El mosaico de la alberca grande está en pedazos y por partes y si llega a lastimar, tengo entendido lo arreglarán en marzo.
Hace mucho calor en el restaurante a ciertas horas del día, faltarían más ventiladores.
En mi baño no me tocó cancel y es molesto que todo el baño se moje cuando te bañas, ya que tienes que esperar al otro día que hagan la limpieza.

Si llegabas temprano, te recibían y daban el desayuno sin costo, pero ya no.
