This was our first stay at the resort and it was wonderful. We traveled as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (10 and 3). Our room was cleaned everyday, help desk was efficient and the staff was phenomenal. The buffet options, pool service and room service was top. Really great place to stay as a family. I was shocked at how pet friendly it is as well. We saw all kinds of dogs during our stay and we will actually be brining ours next time.

Our favorite resort to date and we are fairly seasoned travellers. Food was fantastic! Rooms are incredible. Staff are friendly and helpful though most don't speak great English. Tons of activities to do. Infinity pool was lovely. Use of restaurants and activities at neighboring pool was a great bonus! The only negative would be the lack of beach and fear of crocodiles in the water! But we would highly recommend this property to all and plan to be back!

Very nice accommodations. Friendly staff. Bring a translator app if you do not speak Spanish. Currently they do not exchange US$ for pesos, pay with card for best exchange rate. They will set rate at 14pesos/$ when paying cash with us$. 3 great pools. We had 3 nights in upgraded restaurants with our package. Tips are appreciated. Buffet was just that- decent offer of like food. Hamburger/pizza/salad at lower pool cafe when open. Entertainment shows are at the azul property next door (10 min walk). 20 pesos shuttle to ixtapa (ends 7pm). Taxi available $. Ferry boat to ixtapa island in walking distance, as well as crocodile/bird sanctuary and Mexican markets (northwest). We’d stay again if they offer a similar package.

Clean, comfortable, and clearly well cared for. The resort grounds and rooms felt well kept throughout our stay.

The staff were very good and worked hard, but you’ll likely need a translator app for smoother communication. I’ve been to other resorts where English is more widely spoken, but honestly, we’re in Mexico—not California—so I don’t see that as a dealbreaker.

A few things we weren’t overly impressed with (and wish had been clearer up front):

**Currency exchange:** The front desk **will not exchange USD**—they’ll only exchange **Canadian dollars**.
* **Room service fees:** Room service costs **$150 pesos plus tip**, which surprised us since most all-inclusives we’ve visited don’t charge extra for it.
**Mini-fridge limitations:** The mini fridge is limited to **a maximum of two beers**. We asked for more beer and Coke and were told no—and that **Coke would be an extra charge**. **Canned soda/pop isn’t included** in the minibar.
**Dining reservations:For a **10 -night stay**, you can book **a maximum of four specialty restaurant reservations**. That’s fine, but it should be communicated in advance. If you don’t have a specialty booking, the main alternative is the buffet.
**Alcohol service hours:** **No alcohol before 11:00 a.m. You can get mimosas at breakfast and Bailey’s in coffee, but otherwise you’ll need to wait until 11.
Beach access: The biggest drawback is the beach. There’s a small beach area accessible by stairs, but it’s not a “walk straight out.

I did not like the way my check in precess was handled. My reservation was not in their data base. I had to wait about 30 to 40 minutes before it was resolved. However, a customer assistance which appears to be in charge, her customer skills and support was extremely poor.

First when we check in they told me I had 3 nights reserved I said oh oh no I have 4 and I had to show proof then what we didn’t like was that we had to walk every night to the other hotel to see the show and on weekends when the place on the beach is rented they close the way to get there. At least they should put a sign at the beginning so anybody can see it and save the walk. Also I didn’t like that there is only one restaurant

Overall disappointing. Location was also out of the way. You have to take a taxi everywhere although most taxis were friendly. I would highly recommend staying in \"Hotel 1\" area. Food options were limited to buffet area. You have to stand in a ridiculous line to reserve a table in one of the other restaurants. If you check out a towel, make sure you turn them back in or you will be charged a ridiculous fee of $25 us dollars. I left mine in the pool area and had to pay $50! Staff watched us leave them behind and none bothered to tell us to return them as a courtesy. They probably get a kickback. Easy way to take advantage of people and make money. Will not return!

Grand Resort with options for everyone!!

Really impressive resort. We visited in mid sept which is the slow season and it was great. The resort has a lot for its guests to enjoy. Nice large rooms all with ocean views. There are three pools, two outside bars, inside bar and club. Most the time we had the entire adult pool to ourselves. You have access to the resort next door, it was nice to stop for a drink when walking on the beach. There is a cafeteria style restaurant and the food was really good. They changed it up everyday which was nice. Traditional local dishes, and lots of other options like salad bars, sandwich bars, breakfast bars and pastry bars. Great Cafe onsite with fresh ground drinks. One day they did a seafood \"feast\", lots of options and they were cooking whole seasoned fish. The resort also has three very nice, reservation only restaurants. The Asian restaurant was great. Fresh seafood and creative dishes to give guests lots of variety. The resort has a list of daily activities for guests to sign-up for. Employees that host the activities work hard to make them fun and enjoyable. We had Natalia on several adventures and she was great, full of energy and very positive. Be sure to sign-up for the bike ride, they take through an Eco park in the jungle on a great flat path. For a change, we walked down the beach and caught the water taxi to Ixtapa Island and had the back side of the island to ourselves all day. Great food and snorkeling while relaxing all day in lounge chairs. Definitely recommend!!

Room was lovely. Special dining was very good the reservation woman was unfriendly and unhelpful. We simply went to the restaurants, spoke with the Capitan and were seated. But the reservation office just said dining rooms were full but each night we went they were not at all full. Day dining was only at one buffet or the small snack area which we found very disappointing. No sit down restaurant was an option. Layout of public areas was poor because there were no ocean view areas for dining or tables and chairs for sitting outside near pools.

Excellent 4 night stay at Azul Grand. Service in every department was prompt, friendly, and met all our needs. The views and sunsets are amazing. Beautiful pools and spa. Make sure you reserve speciality restaurants early in your stay to take advantage of the choices. Very close to Isla Ixtapa ferry and Playa Linda. Only notes I have is the hotel should consider adding more furniture to the large balconies and reduce the amount of bright (almost blinding) white light in some areas and restaurants. Overall highly recommend this hotel.

Our family, consisting of my husband, our 17-year-old daughter, and myself, spent our spring break at the Grand Azul Resort from March 9th, and it was an unforgettable experience! Even though the resort was fully booked and busy, it never felt overcrowded or hectic. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like returning guests, with the staff going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The resort itself was incredibly comfortable and offered plenty of activities for us to enjoy. The amenities were top-notch, from the beautiful pools to the delicious dining options. We were so content with everything the resort had to offer that we only left the Azul properties once to explore downtown Ixtapa and Zihua.

It’s rare to find a place that feels so relaxing yet full of life at the same time, and Grand Azul Resort provided the perfect balance. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, family-friendly destination with fantastic service.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome! Gethsemane helped us with our luggage and after we checked in, he took us up and gave us a tour of our room, how to use the AC / Sauna / Jacuzzi Tub / other services. The mini bar was stocked with Tecate, water and sodas. Isabel maintained our room and left us little surprise towel critters on our bed and on the bathtub. She was super friendly and responsive. The view off our balcony was impressive and such a great way to relax, whether eating breakfast with room service or just drinking and relaxing in the evening. The Buffet was okay, but had a lot of options, I understand they have a large and varied palet to cater to. The 3 restaurants we tried as part of our week long stay, where amazing. Marion was our server and she was detailed and kept our drinks filled. We didn't do many of the activities on site, but enjoyed the pool and pool side bar service. Short walking distance on a really cool boardwalk over to the pier to go to Ixtapa island.

I think this property is lovely. The staff are super attentive and friendly, the food was excellent, the views from the room are unmatched, and it felt so safe. I would have given it 5 stars, except they didnt have a lot of different show options, the pools closed really early and there wasnt a lot to do in the evening. The hotel is pretty far from town so if want to do anything at night you have to leave the hotel. Otherwise it was amazing!

The staff was wonderful. Rooms were very nice. Quite far from anything. Need to take bus or taxi. Beach was not walkable. Very rocky. Two kinds of beer. A light (takate) and a dark beer(not sure name) no smoking anywhere on grounds or beach. Need to walk to street out front of hotel on street. Not much of a nightlife as only one lobby bar after 4pm. Pool bar closes at 6pm. One musical show at night at sister resort at 8:30pm. Dogs are welcome. Always keep your pool towel receipts each day. Tried to charge us 50 Us$'s at checkout. But i had all receipts. Food is very good and specialty restaurants very good. Really liked shrimp kabobs at bbq/steakhouse but they don't tell you they have them. Just ask! Great stay but very very hot and humid and far from everything.

Clean and well appointed hotel with a very friendly staff. Lot's of great options on the buffets. The specialty restaurants left a bit to be desired. Their availability was limited and the staff seemed rather stretched to handle the the customers they had. While it was nice to have an occasional \"sit-down\" meal, the food quality was actually below what we found at the buffet. The only other issue we had was our in-room refrigerator did not work and was not repaired or replaced during our stay.

t was our first time in Zihua/Ixtapa and we had a lovely time at this resort. If you're looking to be in the thick of either town, this resort is a ways from both but accessible by taxi. It is perfectly situated to enjoy Isla Ixtapa, Playa Linda, etc. When I booked, I saw that this was rated a 5-star hotel, I'd say it's solidly a 4-star hotel after our visit.

The good:
* amazing view from our room - we were on the 23rd floor right below the penthouse suites and the views were amazing. miss the gorgeous view and people watching. Initially, we were on a lower floor but I just asked if there was anything higher available - just ask nicely!
* the food - generally solid food at the specialty restaurants - italian, bambu asian fusion, the steakhouse BBQ, the oysteria and I thought the buffet options (especially lunch) were solid
* the service was generally great - we both speak a bit of Spanish and were able to converse with the team and they really appreciated the gesture and that maybe improved our services. special shout out to: Vale, Tatiana, Yair, Tono, Alejandro, Alberto, Cinthia and Beatriz

The not so good:
* limit to specialty restaurant reservations - this wasn't clear to us at check-in but even staying for 7 days, we were limited to only 3 official reservations during our stay. * limited restaurant availability - la cevicheria is only open certain days, this should be clearer
chair reserving - this was insane to see.
all that said, we had fun and would come back!

The property and staff are amazing. The buffet food was very good. I've been to other properties in Ixtapa and the food was by far superior compared to the others. The only downside and reason for a 4 star verses a 5 star is that the beach is small. We normally like to do a morning beach walk. This is not possible at this location. They do have a board walk along the ocean which is nice and you can walk the street side as there is a nice wide sidewalk. But beach walking is not possible. If beach walking is not top of your list, then do not hesitate to stay here. You will not regret it. We plan to be back. I just miss my beach walking.

The Azul Grand is absolutely stunning, every room has and ocean view, the hotel is very minimalistic but not negatively, every aspect is meant to draw your attention to the outside and surrounding! The staff was friendly, kind and accommodating! Food on the other had was fair, the restaurants were hard to book and honestly the food was mediocre to say the least! The all inclusive food buffet was ok, lots of amazing fresh fruits which was nice, but the variety was only ok! The is a gorgeous board walk from the Azul Grand to the Azul, the oyster bar restaurant at the Azul was totally a 5 Star experience! I could have eaten there 5 nights in a row! The lack of drink variety was also poor! Very minimal in options but we made due! The pools were beautiful, I wish the gorgeous infinity pool was adults only so we could enjoy the view with out the kids screaming! The “adult” pool had no view but no kids screaming made it ok! Overall it was good!

We loved our stay at the Azul Ixtapa Grande! It was so quiet when we were in our room and the view from our room was incredible. The fine dining restaurants were great and there was good food at the general buffet. The staff...everyone and everywhere....were excellent, so attentive and ready to serve! Make sure you tip frequently because they deserve it!

Very nice facilities and there are many food options. Clean and good service.
The only negative is that there were supposed to be sealing boats and kayaks and snorkeling available, but the hotel cancelled them due to dangerous marine wildlife, although other hotels in the area didn't have restrictions.
