Great location for swimming and close to Buccanos. Across the street is a great Key Lime Pie shop but get there at 5:30. The lobster restaurants are great also.

Hotel amenities are fantastic. Rooms all have a great view with a nice patio. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and the restaurants are great. Breakfast out on the water with buffet or made to order. Buffet is a little expensive at $30 per person. We did not do the all inclusive so we saved money and ate at restaurants around town.

The only downfall to this property is the distance from the dives. In a slow boat it could take 45-1 hr. We also had a wonky shower that while it worked was difficult to get pressure through a large head.

This is a wonderful place to stay and the beach is perfect!

Alright place to stay overnight for next day flight. Upkeep and maintenance is lacking. Light over sink was out couldn’t see in shower or mirror. Overpriced for what you get $70 US for breakfast buffet that was meh. Hotel staff were great but front desk wasn't very accommodating. Main pool was really disgusting, not clean at all, sludge piled up in one corner. Bar service at pool extremely slow.

Our stay at this resort was fantastic! The grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The pool area was inviting and perfect for relaxing, and the lobby bar had amazing bartenders who made every drink and interaction enjoyable. While the resort has only two restaurants, both were excellent with delicious food. The staff overall was friendly and attentive, making our stay truly memorable. It’s a small resort but highly recommend for a relaxing and fun getaway!

Our stay at the Westin Cozumel had some high points. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch; every staff member we encountered was friendly and eager to help.

Unfortunately, the hotel infrastructure is letting the staff down. The property is very dated and visibly suffering from a lack of maintenance. We actually had to change rooms after checking in because our first room was in unacceptable condition. Beyond the rooms, the hotel shows signs of neglect, including broken items in common areas and visible mold.

It feels like the property isn’t being cared for the way it should be.

We left happy because of the warm hospitality, but management seriously needs to invest in updating and fixing this facility.

Returned a week ago from the Westin and although the hotel is one of my favorite with the snorkeling off the beach and a wonderful place to relax we noticed the quality of the food has gone downhill over the years. There were a few nights that only a handful of people ate at the restaurants on the property which even for off season was noticeable. The shower in our room flooded terribly and it took until the 3rd day to be moved. The cleaning staff the waiters and bartenders are great and work hard to take care of you. Drinks are of decent quality but like some food you have to pay for top shelf liquor. For the price it’s definitely worth it but if not kept on top of things I fear the ratings are going to continue to decline and really hate to see that. This place had the highest ratings the first few years it was open.

Beach - The ocean is very nice but in certain areas several of my friends and I hurt our toes on rocks. MUST have swim shoes. Gift shop sells them for $40 US dollars per pair. They are cheap. Bought two and the sand kept coming into them and the strap broke on one pair the second day. We left them behind at the room.

Mosquitos - Terrible . Bring plenty of off and bug bite spray

The Pool - nice! Ceviche, sliders and waffle fries are great. Everything else is sub par.

Hotel room - We had a “Cabana” room 132. (There are only 2). Location is perfect! (Worn) Next to pool and beach but small bugs were all over the room. Can’t leave food over night. Makes worse all in bed. But the location of the room makes for way to much noise. Constant birds, doors from the surrounding areas opening and closing. Difficult to sleep every night. Water also leaked from from roof and front door.

We asked for extra towels and turn down service daily. Didn’t get it. 1 night they dropped towels off and left. That’s turn down. one night we had to wait “2 hours” for wash clothes because they had to do laundry.
Once asked for wash clothes. They told us we have to wait until the AM because housekeeping went home.

Housekeeping is TERRIBLE! Room never cleaned properly. Hair left in shower. Food left outside the room. Half bottle of water in room upon arrival. MGMT tried but struggled too. If check out is 11am all inclusive is over for you at 11am. Can’t get a bottle of water

Food always took a long time to get, came out cold and very bland. Had the all-inclusive package maybe that was the reason. Bought a bottle of wine for dinner one night, got a call on the phone when my wife and I were in bed saying I had to pay cash. That night, and the server was coming up to the room. Went down to the desk asked for a hold for charged room account. Hotel put $577.81 on hold on credit card. Paid off account at check out, hotel still kept $577.81. 10 days later and calling hotel 3 times still will not release money. Worst hotel experience in my life, I'm 63 years old.

4. Delicious breakfasts, beef dishes, some appetizers, & some desserts
5. Great selections of alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks.
6. 24-hour spacious gym with adequate equipments for complete workouts.
Negatives: 1. a-la-carte dining only, most of the time took 40-45 minutes just to get the food
2. No consistent flag updates on the ocean condition. We had a scary windy storm one day & really rough water, but flag was yellow!!
3. dive-shop water sports was non-existent, they kept yellow flag on rough 3 days including during a scary storm, but red flags on last 2 days perfect days of no wind, no wave. The staff at dive shops just said: “cancel, maybe tomorrow”.
4. Absolutely no on-site activities, other than (small) kids club.
5. Location is far from any attractions or markets
6. Bland pasta & fish dishes.
7. Although we paid for all-inclusive, taking food out of the restaurants or to-go was discouraged.
8. No grab-and-go snacks, you’d have to actually order and eat them at the restaurants or get room service for additional fees.
One of the main reasons we booked this one was because of the complimentary kayaks & paddle boards, but we were denied using them on 2 perfect super calm days!! Advertisement is misleading!!

Read for a full experience review:

Beautiful location and views, but service and management are seriously lacking. Here’s the reality:

•Beach & bugs: Sand flies everywhere, mosquitos swarm at night, no fans, no bug spray sold at the shop. My legs and back are torn up from sand fly bites. We’ve never been to a beach that infested before. I have scars a week later.

•Service: Staff mostly stand around chatting instead of helping. Several times we had to walk down to the street to hail a taxi because there was no bell hop working. Westins are known for their level of care - not this place.

•Towels: Charged $20 for “dirty” towels. I asked for proof and they provided a generic picture of a towel used by a woman 10 shades darker than me. I am very fair skinned and this picture they sent is no where close to my tone. The housekeeper is either very mistaken on room numbers or they do this repeatedly using the same photo.

•Noisy rooms & housekeepers: You can hear everything from neighbors. Housekeeping cleans with music blasting — impossible to rest when they are on your floor.

•Food & dining: They will not allow you to order drinks without ordering very expensive food. They say it’s law, no one else did this to us. Just something to be aware of.

•Pricing issues: Bartender offered 2-for-1 mojitos — ended up charging $18. $18 for 2/1 special is crazy work. Get drinks at a fraction of the cost down the street.

Family Trip to The Westin Cozumel – Disappointing Experience

We stayed at The Westin Cozumel for a 7-day family trip centered around a destination wedding, and unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations. For 5 out of the 7 days, there was only cold water in the showers, which made basic comfort a challenge. The food selection was extremely limited, and the customer service from staff was consistently poor.

Despite being a group of 6–8 people, we were not allowed to sit together for meals—whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner—as the staff refused to accommodate us by moving tables. This lack of flexibility and hospitality was very frustrating, especially given the reason for our trip.

Additionally, the hotel offered no entertainment whatsoever—not even background music by the pool—making the atmosphere feel dull and uninviting.

Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay. If you're considering The Westin Cozumel, we strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Avoid at all costs.

We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary here and couldn’t have picked a more beautiful spot! The entire property was incredible and instantly put us in vacation mode. We loved that we could snorkel right there on the property, such a fun experience to share with our kids. The restaurant staff at Gaviotas were incredibly kind and truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. The views from both our room and the restaurant were absolutely spectacular, the kind you want to soak in all day.

If I could suggest a couple of improvements, it would be to provide more hotel information at check-in, like hours and details on amenities, even a simple printable would be perfect. Also, the shower door seal in our room wasn’t working properly and let out quite a bit of water.

Overall, it was a memorable and relaxing stay, and we’re so glad we chose this hotel for our special occasion!

The ocean view was great from the 6th floor and the room was clean and stocked. Snorkeling right off the property is great and somewhat addicting. The staff is friendly and hard hard working: Alex at the snack bar kept us fed and hydrated and was very available and attentive. Vicky, also at the snack bar has a great personality and treated us well. Rosendo and dinner is very professional and provides top notch service. I can't say enough about the entire staff as they are all very helpful and friendly.
Areas for improvement was the pool as it had debri and was not kept clean during the day. The barking pets was something I could do without.

We were really disappointed with our visit. The beach was small and extremely overcrowded, which made it hard to enjoy any time by the water. Before boarding our excursion, we stopped at Gaviotas Restaurant expecting a decent meal, but the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed and couldn’t get food out in time. We had to switch to the buffet, and to make things worse, they tried to charge us for an extra plate just because I gave my husband a slices of watermelon — even though he wasn’t planning on eating a full breakfast due to time constraints.

To top it all off, there was a roach in our room, which completely panicked our kids. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, and we won’t be returning.

Worst Westin I have stayed. Not worth the money at all, shouldn’t be a four star hotel.
Lights broken, dirty bedsheet, AC not functioning properly(cannot adjust the temperature, either freezing cold, or turn it off), took forever for the staff to come fix all the issues, plenty of empty rooms still refuse to change a room for me. I stayed two nights, the light bulb got replaced on the second day, AC problem was not fixed at all.

A very nice first stay at this hotel. Out third trip overall to Cozumel. We took the all inclusive option because we knew we’d be eating the majority of our meals at the hotel. Three good options for food, our favorite being Cuzamil restaurant. The lava cake dessert is amazing.
Good lagoon and great snorkeling at this resort. Taxis were always accessible and waiting out front when we wanted to go and shop in town.
Our servers Alex and Efren were amazing and made this such a great stay. I do note the musty smell in the lobby a bit, due to the humidity
One suggestion I would have is the hotel needs maybe 10 more umbrellas outside for patrons. There were around 10 or so but the property needs 20. All in all a great stay though

Overall I would rate this property very well, with few exceptions. Positives- We had the junior suite on the 16th floor, which I thought was exceptionally nice with a big tub, shower, kitchen space, and furniture. Overall the staff was great. Highlights to point out - The housekeeper, Lorenzo, was incredibly nice, a great personality, and gave the room a nice touch on top of regular cleaning. I just hope I tipped him well enough because he did make your day so
much better. The bell hop staff were also swell gentlemen and also very helpful. Even the front desk staff were just great and helpful to any needs. Negatives, and maybe this is unnecessarily critical - it’s nice there’s a beach, but of all the north side water, the ocean there is kinda meh. Of course they can’t control the ocean life, but just South of the hotel, there’s great areas to snorkel with a lot of ocean life. We normally stay at Hotel B, but chose Westin because it’s child friendly compared to B’s adult only hotel. Another criticism, and it’s minor, but the kitchen was kinda strict on rules. So when we wanted to order to-go food for our child for a day trip, there’s no to-go boxes and aluminum foil was a $5 charge. One more thing- it was kind of a bummer there were so many intoxicated guests, but no one can control grown adults bad-decision making. It’s Mexico and everyone is on vacation, but geez take it down a notch and leave that negativity at home. For what it’s worth, we still think it was great.

My room phone didn’t work at all. Kept having to go downstairs for everything.

Beautiful views of the ocean but disappointing for an all inclusive. Nothing to do but sit by the pool or the beach. Food was terrible. They did upscale but there wasn’t anything good about the food.

Absolutely beautiful property, amazing snorkeling and swimming right out front. All rooms have an ocean view which is gorgeous! Away from the hustle, but a close taxi ride if you want to go into town. Hotel is beautiful, beds comfortable and spacious rooms. Wish they had some entertainment at night it was a bit sleepy.

Great property on the water. All rooms face the water. It's what I would expect for a Marriott Westin. Great staff, clean property, gorgeous views. The food was a little redundant but of good quality. Would definitely recommend for families.
