Very uncomfortable bed....we literally slep on an inch of foam over two connected box springs. The biggest complaint was the furniture and furnishings are very dated and in need of repairs.

The staff I did interact with for the most part were nice and helpful, however there is very limited dining. The restaurant that will only take you by reservation is not friendly nor helpful and compared to other all-inclusive resorts I've stayed at, the staff that would walk around and ask if you need drinks or anything else is almost non-existent a lot of the time so you dont get as much for your buck on drinks and food.

STAY AWAY - TERRIBLE SERVICE AND FALSE ADVERTISING

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HOTEL. I’ve traveled extensively throughout Mexico, the Caribbean, Central, and South America, and this is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The main issue was the ATTITUDE OF THE STAFF—many employees were INCREDIBLY RUDE, UNHAPPY, and lacked any accountability. Even managers, including the front desk manager and the manager at Pepe Scuba, were disrespectful not only to us but to other guests as well.

Here are the major issues we faced during our stay in March 2025:
•HORRIBLE FOOD
•“NICER” RESTURANT RESERVATIONS IMPOSSIBLE to obtain
•\"ROOM SERVICE\" nonexistent
•NO SAFE KEY
•NO BACK UP LOCK ON INSIDE OF DOOR
•NO REFRIGERATORS IN ROOM
•WATER OUTAGE several hours one day
•HOT TUBS ARE A JOKE - the one working is COLD
•NO LANDLINE PHONE to contact front desk
•LOUD MUSIC by the pool, making it impossible to relax.
•UNPROFESSINAL STAFF lied to us several times and scolded us for not wearing wristbands that kept ripping
•SCOLDED FOR DRYING WETSUITS by pool bc room too damp to dry there

On the plus side, the room was spacious, the bed was decent, the Wi-Fi was reliable, the AC worked, and the hotel seemed generally safe (nothing was stolen from our room).

However, the OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS SO DISAPPOINTING THAT I WOULD NOT RECOMMNED THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The staff and service were excellent. Thank you Paolino, Victor and Fatima for going above and beyond. The facility does need some upgrade. We did not have hot water for most of our stay. The elevator also broke down which made it hard with a baby in a stroller (we were on the top floor).

We found the resort to not be a true representation of what was described in the Expedia listing. It is in disrepair and old. Our room was large but it smelled moldy. The sheets and towels were stained, holes from wear and due to threadbare, felt like sandpaper. Since the rooms are outdated and do not offer enough outlets for phones, iPads and electrical devices. Our sofa was stained and literally one side was completely torn. The food was like a cafeteria buffet which was bland and left us craving food that was authentic to Mexico. You will find you will need to go into town for food. The only saving grace was the staff and the views. They are truly wonderful, especially considering what the staff must work with. The only staff member we found to not be pleasant was Javier.

The staff is amazing and the snorkeling is awesome! The hotel is going down hill. This is our 4th time here and we will not be back. You have to fight for chairs every morning, people are claiming them at 6pm the night before. We had people take our towels, steal our chairs..etc. The rooms are very musty, falling apart, sinks backing up. The food selection is the same every day, if you eat at the reservation restaurant it takes almost 2 hours. No nightly entertainment.

Pros wait staff, beach and snorkeling. Thats it. Cons. Rude front desk, horrible food, gross pool. Bad communication with booking, horrible beds, no entertainment, not many places to sit outside in the evening. Bathfroom ceiling leaked. Hot water worker sometimes same with air conditioning. Wjen we checked in we booked 2 double beds. And they tried to give us one king room and saod nothing else was available. We went to the room and all the electrical was torn aparr and hanging from the ceiling. They said it woild be 15min to fix it. I simply asked for a different room theu said there were none. After a hour the room obviously was still not ready. Again asked foranother room and was told there were none. I said we need a room with electricity. Fonally magically we got a room woth 2 beds. Several others were having similar issues chexking in. Its a 1 star place at best.

The staff, location, and views are amazing (oceanview balcony in every room!), along with the beautiful beach area, great snorkeling, and miniature golf! The property is older but is very clean. The only things that would be nice additions are bike rentals for guests to explore the area, more beach chairs, replacing old mattresses, and more consistency and quality of drinks. Even with those minor issues, there is so much to love about this place-- this was our 3rd time staying here and it has improved each time.

Positives: Nice location, amazing snorkeling, decent food for the price, great staff, reasonably clean, not a \"party central\" atmosphere.
Negatives: Property is older, premium foods are limited (bacon, french fries, cheese not on buffet), resort did not respond to multiple emails and messages I sent prior to arrival.
Strangely, the resort charged me 1 penny after I left. I think it was related to the hold that was refunded to me, but it's odd.
Scuba shop on property is wonderful, competent, and cheap.

Here are the pros and cons that I found personally

Pros:

-Room was clean, tidy and very comfortable

-The ocean view was amazing

-Buffet was good food and restaurant was amazing

-Staff very super friendly and nice

-Everything was cleaned regularly (Outdoor pool, chairs, floor, tables)

-easy to commute the resort (smaller)

-

Cons:

-Biggest con was the Weather (rainy, windy)

-Buffet was a little underwhelming for selection but definitely not terrible (10-16 choices)

-Restaurant reservations filled early and before 8am

-Resort was an hour and a half walk away from ferry (costed 10USD each way to get there)

Stayed for 7 nights, after reading some of the recent reviews I was a bit sceptical. Our room was in great condition and well maintained. The view was amazing and the balcony was a good addition. The food selection was not the the biggest but it was very very good and was cooked very good. They did have a restaurant that was reservations only that were to be made at 8am on that day. The reservations filled up before 8am so you had to be there around 7:15am ish in order to get picks on when you’d like to go. The outdoors area was very well maintained and cleaned every morning, the pool was decent but had some kind of filter issue that is to believe was fixed the last day there. The beach and ocean was fantastic the water was amazing for the first day. Clear and calm with fish swimming around and through your legs in the lower tide.

My sister and I both have celiac disease and gluten. Nice to have long or gluten-free dessert brought to us since we could not eat any bread pasta, pizza pastry, or cake.
Corn tortillas are not available at breakfast. Why? For persons with gluten allergy.; it would be nice to have corn tortilla with our eggs, since we cannot eat any other form of bread. Are corn tortillas, a rare commodity?

So the most honest review I can give is that they highly manipulate the pictures of this place. It is VERY dated and things are falling apart. This hotel needs a heck of a lot of updating and by no means should be considered a 5 star hotel, it’s a 3 star at best.

That being said the service and the people who work here are overall amazing and are more than willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay more fun.

We had a wonderful stay! The food was good and the property is beautiful. It is not a 5 star, though it is a small, lovely, quaint property which is super clean. We felt we got a great value for the price paid .I absolutely loved the view from our room and the snorkeling near by was amazing. We will definitely be back!
(The older rooms do need new comforters and some rooms need some things fixed or redone)

I suppose you get what you pay for but this was an interesting trip as we have been to the El Coz multiple times in the past. They have new management and Omar is one of one let me tell you. Our first night our showerhead fell out of the wall and we had paid for a king bed but was given to doubles, so we requested the correct room or atleast one with a working shower head and he acted like he couldnt be bothered that we were upset with our accomodations at the moment. They did make it right after we argued with him and the staff the next morning but we managed to leave our sons blanket in the old room and when we finally realized a few days later they told us we couldnt do anything about it because we were behind in the \"lost and found process\" already, whatever that means. So i continued to ask him every day until the moment we left about it and he couldnt be bothered that someone stole my two year olds blanket. i hope whoever has it really needed it. We had someone misplace a cellphone one night and they gave us a run around about that as well as if they were going to keep it for themselves even after she proved it was her cellphone. You used to be able to order multiple snacks/dishes at the pool side and that is no longer a thing, front desk is supposed to inform you of this but they failed to do so. It was very sad to tell some of our friends that we will more than likely NOT be coming back next time.

The staff were very kind and friendly. However, the place is a run down dump. The room we got was terrible. The shower drain was clogged, the closet door was broken, the air conditioning unit was rattling and poured water out of it, the ceiling tiles were warped and stained, the tile grout was dirty and looked moldy in areas, and the beds were brick hard. It was a terrible accommodation, and we requested a new room and to repair the things wrong, but nothing happened. I will not be staying here ever again and the trip was ruined.

I have been to many hotels in Mexico, but this one was the worse. I dont know how it got so many positives reviews. Rooms need serious renovation. The paint is coming off the ceilings and walls, shower has no shower doors, faucets are so old and rusty that you barely can open them for hot/cold water. The room was smelly. Don’t expect your room to be clean at least until 4pm. Check in was horrible. We did pre-check in at 2pm, we supposed to get room at 3pm, the room wasn’t ready until after 4pm. There are only two restaurants, one of it only for breakfast and dinner (no lunch), and to eat there at dinner you need to make reservations same day. They don’t let you make reservations a day ahead, you need to stand in long line at 7:30 am to make reservations. The other restaurant not much better. There is no breakfast until 7am, so if you have early flight or activity forget about breakfast or coffee. Very disappointed in food. Not much help from hotel staff if you need any. The only nice thing about this property was the clean ocean and the beach. Very beautiful view and clean pools, but that’s about it.

Overall the property itself was pretty from the outside. The amazing staff is why I’m rating it three stars, they go above and beyond for you. They are very kind and are always happy to see you. But overall there were more problems than not.
One, the AC doesn’t go lower than 23.5 degrees Celsius, which is pretty pathetic in my opinion. When your in 28-30 degree weather, you’d want the AC to at least go down to 18/19
degrees.
Another annoying feature is the fact that the hot tub is listed as an amenity but it’s cold. When I went to ask them why they listed a hot tub as an amenity but it’s cold, I was told twice that it was cold water tub and that’s how it is. Ok… that’s not a hot tub then and you shouldn’t lie on your hotel listing saying that it’s there.
Cups also didn’t seem to be washed very well in the buffet/dining area. Also did not like how moldy the inside of the room was, sink and showers had mold, dirt and grime all in the bathroom floor, room always felt damp. Cleanliness was bad. The smell also really put me off, not sure what it was. The property did have very clear water, but does not justify,a lot of work that needs to be done. I think you could stay somewhere better in terms of the hotel itself. The food also wasn’t the best at the buffet, made us very sick. You can ask the servers and the chef to make you something else off the menu and they will. As I mentioned, staff was incredible but that doesn’t justify me wanting to stay here again.

We stayed a week at Hotel Cozmeleno and enjoyed every minute of it. There was always something to do if we wanted to or we could just hang out and relax. We had the premium sky top room and enjoyed the extra perks that came with it. The food choices were excellent and always available. The resort was very affordable. You get what you pay for. Rooms were dated but worked just fine for us. Food was okay. Order off the menu not just the buffet. They will make other items for you. You just need to ask. The views were absolutely amazing ! The beach was quite and clean. The staff was exceptional! So friendly! Leo was amazing ! They have lots of free stuff you can do on the resort.
Bike tour snorkelling tour. So many fish too see. Even stingrays! Overall it was a good stay!

Facilities wise the property needs a renovation. Bathroom area is moldy and needs a desperate update. Mirrors are old and rusting. The room felt very moist. However the tv is updated and has Netflix and YouTube capabilities. The free wifi is a huge plus! The main buffet restaurant also needs a major update. The buffet is very limited and repetitive but when ordering off the a la carte menu and the grill the food is much better, food is about a 7/10. The bar area has no stools which is an opportunity for the bartenders to make more tips. There was also zero much being played anywhere. The swim up bar was closed our entire stay. But what this resort lacks in facilities is made up with hospitality. The waiters go above and beyond!!! They are so friendly and attentive and really make a difference in the experience. They sang happy birthday at our dinner reservation and each person hugged me. Sometimes at resorts the workers are flirty but here they are so respectful! The front desk people are also very attentive. They noticed it was my birthday and displayed it on the welcome screen. They made the experience worth it.
Location wise you want to fly in from Cozumel because a flight from Cancun will require additional travel time plus a ferry to the island. The island is packed with everything you need in the centro which is a $10 cab from the resort. I also booked an excursion around the island and enjoyed its beauty. I prob won’t stay in this resort again but would visit again.

We were assigned a room with a king bed when we asked for 2 beds, also there was no coffee maker or fridge in our room. When I asked about getting a coffee maker I was told I could upgrade my room for 60.00 a night lol.
The manager said he could rent me a fridge for 10.00 a night, but when I asked if I could rent a coffee machine instead he got rude and said no.
Our room was a deluxe ocean view, and the shower door would not close, the bathroom faucet was loose and hanging, the a/c would not cool below 77f,and the slider to the patio took both of us to open and close.
Fatima at the front desk was absolutely a gem in a very negative stay however.

We had a wonderful stay. It's not a 5 star resort and we knew that when we booked it. The food was ok and there were a few issues with the water flow in the sink and shower in our room, but we made it work. The mini golf was pretty much unusable as it was flooded. But the A/C worked good in our room and the friendliness of the staff made up for any small issues we encountered. The beach and snorkeling was amazing. It was a nice quiet stay without a party crowd and always plenty of beach chairs. We would definitely stay here again.

This is definitely by far the best hotel that we’ve ever been to in Cancun. We have been coming for years and probably been to almost every single hotel, all inclusive, and not all inclusive. The food is absolutely amazing, the property is stunning. The pool, the beach, just breathtaking. Now, let’s talk about the staff, you hear online about how wonderful they are, but I can’t tell you how right they are. When I tell you this staff is amazing. The staff gets 20 stars out of 10. The management is the most wonderful person. We’ve been coming to the hotels even that we have a beautiful condo here. We will continue to come to this hotel before everybody else from now on. We can’t wait to come back and we’re still here.

No fue una buena experiencia para el costo por noche, desde la llegada no tenían la reservación, check in muy lento, servicio muy mal por parte del personal, (un mesero al solicitar una bebida me dice eso lo tiene que ver con su mesero no conmigo), encontramos una mosca en nuestro platillo, servicio en alberca muy escaso, no tenían un licor básico durante todo un día en el bar de lobby y tenía que ir a otro bar para poder obtenerlo whisky

While this is an older hotel, the staff were amazing! We had a fantastic stay. We loved that it was quiet and the pool area was never overfull. The beach, while small, is great for snorkeling. We were able to snorkel right there in front of the hotel. The buffet is just okay, but there are great options on the menu. The beef tacos were delicious! We plan to return next year.

We really enjoyed the catamaran and jeep tour with Kevin that we paid extra for. I would recommend going to the tour desk and setting up excursions. Bring extra cash for the services. Great place if you want a quiet island experience. I would fly in directly to Cozumel instead of Cancun next time I go.

Everything you need for a fun vacation is on site. Now this is the 2nd time at this resort and the only thing i miss from 2years ago is that there are no more nightly shows and early morning yoga. I wish they would bring them back. Also they had a Lady making fresh tortillas everyday at the buffet at lunch time and this time she was not there. I asked mangnt about it because she was a main reason for us returning to El Cozumeleño. They have the tortilla Machine in storage., bring it out and make us fresh tortillas. That was a highlight.
Covered pool to get away from the sun is also great.

This hotel served the purpose we intended to have. The room was spacious. The staff were friendly with great hospitality and guest service. Leonardo at the restaurant was an exceptional server~Thank you.
I enjoy the ala carte menu over the buffet. Having the Pepe scuba at their premises was the highlight of my stay there b/c I was able to do beach dive without traveling anywhere else. Oh and the beach was also my favorite and perfect for snorkeling b/c of the so many different species of fishes that hangs around the beach and seems not bothered by the people at all. It was a perfect stay and I strongly recommend it and I would definitely stay again..

We didn’t have high expectations for this property based on some of the reviews. And honestly was surprised it wasn’t as bad as we expected haha. It was hot, the ac was horrible in the rooms and no fans in any of the common areas. Just some fans at dinner would’ve helped tremendously. The food was ok, few options but was tasty. A la carte and room service was always a good option if nothing great on buffet. The birds in the buffet area were annoying, but they kept the food covered. Drinks typical resort drinks. Rooms very outdated, definitely needs renovation. My kids loved the kids club (1&2 year old) pools definitely needed some upkeep and were about 8/10 on cleanliness. Beach amazing, views spectacular!! Event coordinator was great and helped us have a perfect vow renewal. Staff was great, always friendly and helpful. Slow to get things to room sometimes, but understandable. Convenient location to downtown, about 10 min drive. Taxis were always outside resort, but we rented a car so we didn’t need them. Overall this was a good experience, it’s a budget friendly vacation.

They were black birds in the eating hall and when you was eating birds were trying to taking things off your plate and popping every where. The birds were also eating from the serving trays. So unclean, your utensils was left on the table while the bird was flying around them. They were also not very clean. The drinking plastic cups was old and worn out And the food was not the best taste in food.

Needs a major update and our room’s air conditioning did not work. They did not offer me a new room only a fan. The staff said there was not any rooms until I showed them I could rent a room still with Expedia. They finally gave me a room with air. The showers have mold and the water was rusty when you first turned on. The beds felt wet and were very uncomfortable.

Location was excellent, potential for 4 stars is there, there is a lot of deferred maintenance and upgrades are drastically needed. Food was good, pools and beaches were clean and well maintained.

Julietta did an amazing job! After our romantic dinner on the beach was not properly communicated, Julietta got us in for dinner and scheduled the beach dinner for the next night. It wasn't our anniversary the next day, but it DID rain, just as on our wedding day. Julietta had our room decorated while we were having dinner. She was great the entire stay!

Can't beat this property for the price. Sure there are fancier places, but this is great for a getaway if you are not picky. If you are a picky person, stay away. I can't emphasize that enough. Taxis are very cheap around there and there is plenty to do as far as excursions. There are 2 restaurants to choose from. The furniture in the rooms need updating as well as the showers. I was in room 1511. Great view, cold AC and fast elevators. Very close to the airport and very friendly people. Love the swim-up bar they had. Again, if you want the most modern decor and are picky, dont go here. All in all, I would go back here for future vacations.

Overall it wasn't a bad experience. However, there are some things that could be better. For example, the outside dining bar often had dishes left open and birds were able to get into the food. The facility is quite old which could be charming, but the gym equipment was the worst.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a room on the newer side of the hotel! Our first day and night there, was miserable. The beds were rock hard and the food wasnt good. The rest of our stay they let us switch to a new room and its a night and day difference! To get better food, you can order off their menus instead of eating at the buffet. To enjoy their only dining restaurant, you have to get up at 730 and go and stand in line down stairs to make reservations, otherwise itll get booked and youre out of luck. Overall its a good hotel and we enjoyed our stay. Y9u get what yiu pay for, as others have said. PS... Get a room in the newer side of the hotel!!!

I felt this property lacked in \"outstanding\" customer service.

Very minimal towels. Asked for our room to be cleaned and it was not. Had to personally go to the front desk to get clean towels.

TV did not work at all.

Thought the AC worked, it never seemed to reach its temperature, so the compressor ran all day and all night when attempting to sleep.

Even for an All-Inclusive resort, the food was very below standards. Very minimal selection. Bar staff was not engaging or outgoing at all.

La ubicación es regular, el servicio es el peor, a tal punto que les pasas por el lado y ni los buenos días, las habitaciones son del siglo XV , el agua es salada en el lavado y en la ducha, la iluminación pararece apagón con velas, el baño parece de una terminal, all inclusive?? A que precio! el HELADO se acaba antes de que llegues al restaurant la comida es de tercera, las opciones son escasas muy escasas, y ni hablar de la barra, solo tienen un tipo de cerveza la cual ligan con agua, al igual que tooooodas las demás bebidas alcoholicas, aguadas y sin sabor a nada…bueno si, saben a agua… por otra parte reservé una suite de dos camas con vista al mar y resulta que me dieron una sola cama porque según la señora es según la disponibilidad, pedí cambio de habitación y me dijeron que lo que más podían hacer por mi era darme una cama extra,…. Me trajeron un catre, como si me hubieran regalado la estadía aquí y que estuvieran haciéndome un favor….. las habitaciones no tienen mini bar, el aire acondicionado no tira aire, las sábanas no las cambian… y podría seguir escribiendo…muy triste todo y horrible, gracias por arruinarme mis vacaciones honestamente evítense venir a este mugrero, no veo la hora de largarme de aquí y JAMÁS regresar!

We enjoyed our stay. Loved all the different pool options. Mini golf was fun as were the daily snorkel tours. We also enjoyed the daily activities they had offered. Overall happy. Would stay again.

The rooms floor 5 and above have a nice balcony and an excellent ocean view. The buffet and a la carte restaurant are ok for the most part and very good on certain foods.
The pools are pretty good for cleanliness and size, but there not enough pool towels or chairs by the pool or beach. The snorkeling is pretty good. The staff is excellent in almost every area. No refrigerators or coffee makers in rooms. I think maybe available for an extra cost. The bed is terrible, very hard and lumpy.

Great value. Loved the location, beach, and ocean view. Reservation dinners was very good and was easy to get reservations. Baffet was decent. Rooms are a little dated but the cleaning staff did a great job. We really enjoyed our stay and I was expecting a lot less for what I paid to stay were.

Good food and rooms for the price!
The beach area is great for swimming and wading,
and there is direct access to fine snorkeling in clear water with many fishes. Various Activities are available throughout the day.
My only suggestion for improvement is for the beach lounges. People claim them for the week, so many of us never had a chance for one on the beach.
Sugestion: put a sign telling guests that beach chairs need to be emptied by 11pm, and all personal belongings left after that will be removed and can be claimed at lost and found. That would give everyone a chance to sit on the beach.
We had a great week at a great location!

Room was not ready upon check-in. Everything was manual which extended check-in and check-out time. Food options were very limited for an all-inclusive resort. The resort ran out of many items for food items and drinks such as mint leaves, sprite, and ingredients for sauce at the reservation only restaurant. Reservations for 1 of the only 2 restaurants on site was supposed to start at 8 AM per signs and communication relayed by front desk but reservations started at 7:45 AM and were gone by 8 AM. There was a line every morning for this restaurant. There was confusion on how to get to the hotel because there are 2 postings with 2 different addresses and different names. This confused the taxi. The rooms are outdated and caused multiple problems throughout the stay. You cannot control the temperature in your room, maintenance has to come and change it with a password. I could go on, but this should be enough for you to get the point.

The snorkeling was amazing! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was good. Green enchiladas in the morning were amazing. Chicken parm at night was good. Buffet had different options each day. The grounds were clean. Our snorkel tour we booked through the hotel with Carla’s company was incredible!! Store on site. Dive shop on site. Restaurants were close. Free parking.
CONS
We didn’t get a king room like we requested at first. Our first room had two fulls and the AC didn’t work. They were able to switch us rooms later that night to another full room with working AC which was better but still out dated. After two nights they switched us to a King room that was very nice and more updated. But we had to pay $100. There were booze cruises that were loud outside the room until all hours of the night. The default liquor was not name brand liquor more like a liqueur; we figured out we had to ask for name brand that was hidden in a cabinet behind the bar. We were never able to get a reservation for the restaurant because they were booked first thing in the morning. People left their stuff on the lounge chairs all night so we were never able to use one.

Would have left an in depth review, but my character count exceeded what was allowed. Full, longer review is on google maps.

Hotel was dated and our room was gross. Bathroom was musty and air took 3 days to get our room cooler than outside. The beds were about 30-40 years old and hard as rocks. Housekeeping constantly shorted us towels for our family of 4.

Food was okay, but not great. Servers were excellent. Front desk staff, wasn't very concerned about any issues. Drinks were alright.

No after dinner activities, so place was pretty dead after 8pm. We tried and never were able to get a reservation at the restaurant. Loungers were rarely available as they're reserved by either staff or people before 8am.

Overall, we've stayed at much nicer all inclusives for the same price on Cozumel. We would not return to this one.

Easy check in.
Rooms are a little dated but our maid service was excellent!! Would like to have refrigerators in the rooms and telephones!!

Emanuel Gabriel Santiago Randy. Always very helpful and friendly. We thought the food was good. We especially liked the idea of being able to order off a menu if we didn’t like the buffet. Pool area was clean. We missed nightly entertainment. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
