I have never tried to check in and have to dial someone to show up. He then gives me a room key, tells me it might not work, and when we get to the room, it actually does not. Now I had to call him again just to get into the room. Burned out bulbs in the room and nowhere bedside to plug in a phone to charge. Shameful inn!

I arrived after dinner and left before breakfast. In that case it is hard to find a better place: quiet, and bed was decent

My latest stay in Barrington, Il.

The check-in was excellent, as always. The rooms are clean but very dated. However, while attempting to move our luggage up to our room, I discovered the elevator isn't working. Had to lug it all up the stairs. The manager did apologize later and offered to help however we were already done.
When attempting to connect to the internet I found that it was not working in our room or even in the hallway. We had no internet for 2 days before someone came out to fix it. .Management did let me use the front office internet.
Latter that evening went to get ice and found that the ice machine isn't working either. Management did give me an ice try to make my own. and was very helpful in getting work arounds for these issues however they shouldn't have occurred.
All these things need to be watched by management and kept in good working order.

Pictures online looked nice, but looks can be deceiving. Property was old, run down. Parking was limited. Room smelled of stale cigarettes and not very clean. Burn spots on the carpet where previous occupants had dropped cigarettes prior to the the no smoking rules went into effect. AC blew nasty smelling air into room all night long. Bathtub area was not very clean. Towels were very old and thin.
The best part of the experience was the desk clerk who when out of his way to help this senior couple get safely into their room, offering to help with luggage, etc. When arriving back from our evening event, parking was scarce. The desk clerk met us in the parking lot to help find us a parking spot and escorted me to my room, making sure I didn't trip on uneven walk-ways. I walk with a cane. 5 stars for the clerk; 2 stars for the property.

The hotel was as advertised - it's an older hotel well-maintained and clean, which is great if you want a cheap bed in the middle of suburbia. Right on the Northwestern Highway. Great for what I needed, but not a destination in itself.

Dennis I believe is the head honcho here and he is absolutely reasonable, and able to work with one when life goes awry. Very quiet and quaint. Great location, for instance, 20 mins to Woodfield mall, and an hr into the city; depends on where one is going.

We debated staying Bc we were so tired & trying to get a refund & couldn’t reach you. Non refundable for a reason- it’s a trap. Bad. Please refund immediately. Left during a disagreement with owner. The photos are misleading to say the least. Read past reviews - this property has been under some sort of construction for months if not longer, but the work didnt appear to be active. Rather, it’s like they started to renovate a very worn and dated property and never finished. Bathroom had old unpainted spackle repairs on walls, mildewy caulk around old plastic shower panels, cheap broken plastic shower head, and drain didn’t flow well so water collected in tub when showering (would not have considered using tub for a bath). Beds had dated and cheap sheets and blankets, plastic liners under thin sheets, and we found hairs in beds. Main room otherwise appeared fairly clean. Newer TV in room. Water was hard and had strong chlorine taste. Only two very small and thin bath towels (for two adults). Hallways showed heavy wear, water staining on carpet, and soiling. Exterior literally looks like a war zone. At least one exterior door had unfunctioning security card locks, so anyone could just enter.

The Hotel was great and accommodating for my dad and his needs. He has troubles getting upstairs and they quickly changed his room to a 1st level room! Also keeping it at the same price I had booked it at which was very nice of them. The staff here is awesome and super nice people. Will stay again.

I thought I was in a war-torn country! One end of the building had fallen OFF, had fecing around it, the office was an old room, unmarked, WITH AN UNMADE BED IN IT! All vending machines, ice makers, etc....were derelict, broken, ancient, still sitting around. I should have known better. Foreign owned.

We went specifically to this Motel cause we had for adults and wanted to avoid the cost of breakfast and they offered a free breakfast. However, when we arrived we were informed there was no breakfast only snacks, consisting of cookies. The room we got was filthy oh, there was stains on a chair, mattress cover, pillow and rugs in the hall. In the morning there was no hot water in the shower. Booked for an accessible king bed room and is listed on hotels.com and in the room as offering breakfast at 6 am. Room was second floor, and elevator made that possible except did not have a handicap accessible bathroom. No rails, high tub. I'd been healing from a leg injury so not what I'd requested. When I first came in and went to the desk to check in, the staff member seemed surprised I'd booked a room for a night. Needed the 6 am breakfast to get my SO to work on time. At 6 am, the room designated for breakfast with sign on the door was not open and no one was at the front desk. Ended up leaving key in room for express checkout and had to go elsewhere for breakfast. I would not have booked here had I known the 2 features I'd booked for would not be available!

We got there, everything looked like it should for the price. We finally get to bed around 4/5am and barley an hour later my boyfriend wakes me up asking if we can leave because he has bites all over his body. As were grabbing our stuff, we see this little bug, just one, crawling on the bed sheets. At closer look we see it’s a bed bug. The employee at the front had no idea what to do or say so we did not get a refund and my boyfriend is now in pain and we have no where safe to sleep.

Well I don't have anything nice to say about this place! We ended up getting there late at night, well no one was at the first desk so we had to call them. Then we get pur keys and get into our room and the smell could knock you dead. We started to inspect the room, my husband found animal poop on the table which looked like it was from a mouse. The blankets had cigarette holes in it; mind you we were in a non-smoking room, and the bed had no sheet just this thin cover across the top of the mattress that had straps to keep it on the mattress. The bathroom tub was dirty and there were no amenities in the bathroom. Our experience was all around horrible. I wouldnt even rate this a full star! If it wasnt for everyone being booked because of the holidays we wouldnt had even stayed there!

Knowing the price I did not have high expectations. That being said, I was highly disappointed. The heat was on but the room never got warm. The toiled had a sanitized paper on it but a circle stain in the bowl. The carper had burn marks all over it. The bed had plastic over the mattress. I looked under the bed and found among other things beer bottles and a remote for the TV. So they obviously don't look under the bed. Like I said I did not expect much for the price but come on man.

Couldn't eat the few breakfast treats they had available. Had to change rooms because of failing key cards. Recommend all door key-card systems be replaced. They have a shelf life. I need to check in and go to my 40 year reunion less than a 10 minute drive away. Because of all the key not working and changing room issues, I was almost late to find parking and attend my event on time.

This hotel was not what we expected. The staff that checked us in and out were very friendly and pleasant, but unfortunately the room was quite bad: light in bathroom did not work, room reeked of smoke, no coffee pot, stains everywhere, and stairway to get up to second floor was blocked off. Despite the rate being very affordable, I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family.

Checkin-Checkout was easy. Apart from that, everything else was very bad. The microwave was full of dust and dirt, bathroom tiles are having crack, no drinking water in the main lobby also. Moreover, I booked it based on the free complimentary breakfast. They don't have complimentary breakfast. They only have coffee and cookies. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Check in and out was quick and friendly. Room was in another part of the hotel that was nicer than the main area but still pretty outdated. No air conditioning, cobwebs, and interior was at least 30 years old. Room was spacious, bed was clean and comfortable and had great AC (it was legit the hottest day of the year). Chair at desk was disgusting..had ungodly stains...you dont want to know what it looked like. There was no attention to detail...vents covered in dust and dirt. Restaurant only took cash??? Its 2019 people not 1979.

Unfortunately the WORST property I've ever visited so far. The lady at the front Desk was OKAY. Room was far below our expectations. AC compressor was extremely noisy. Couldn’t sleep at all. Bathroom wasn't properly cleaned. Commode was yellowish.
Breakfast was EVEN MORE WORST. Hotel description says \"free breakfast\" but all they served were few cookies and coffee (coffee pot was empty BTW). If few cookies and coffee are what is called BREAKFAST, yes, they serve breakfast. Do not waste your money staying in this property.

Reception area was rundown to the point that I wondered if we should even stay there. Took the reception person 5 minutes to locate reservation. Assured me we had a non-smoking room. Drove to parking area, and there was a car with all its windows broken out- made me wonder if it was safe to leave my car there overnight. Room was clean and free of bugs, but room was definitely heavily perfumed to cover the smell of cigarette smoke!!! And all through the sheets and pillows as well. And then no hot water for a shower. And there was supposed to be breakfast included, beginning at 6:30. The room where breakfast was to be served was locked up tight at 7:15. Would not stay there again, would not recommend to anyone else- there or any other Americas Best Value Inn.

Requested room for 6 people. We got a room with two double beds and no extra room. I have no idea where they expected everyone to sleep. Room was definitely dated and in need of upgrades but that was expected for the price. What wasnt expected was that the room was freezing. Cold winter air was coming through the window and door. We had heat turned up all the way and it was barely coming out. Our hands, feet and noses were so cold. The positive is that the beds had nice mattresses, which is a rare find with these lower end hotels and they had a continental breakfast.

They service was great from the staff overall. Except for being able to book my room and enjoying it from check in time 2pm to 4pm. There was no power and I wasn’t suppose to be able to reserve the room yesterday because they were doing electrical work in the building. I was told that Expedia was informed about it in the morning but there weren’t any warnings on the Expedia site. Additionally the last 2 hours of my stay was littered with noise from the electrical work they are doing here at the building which woke me up from a deep sleep. I’ve never had a problem like this and would like to be compensated for the inconvenience and aggravation.

The room was more than expected. It was roomy and comfortable but the amenities were lacking. No extra blankets since the heater was not programed to work until later in the year but the nights were getting too cold for the summer weight blanket that was on the bed.
Also, the continental breakfast consisted of Little Debbie snack cakes and coffee. No cereal or fresh sweet rolls that most motels offer.
The Staff was quite attentive (maybe to make-up for these over sights).

Front desk man super rude. Probably a homophobe. He was very disrespectful to me and my girlfriend upon arrival. I would not go back here. I was calm and collected when asking how to get to my room and he told me to shut up. Also, in the morning we checked out late but were willing to pay extra. Very old, smelly, noisy. Small children run at the corridors all night long, multiple families were camping here. It dId not feel safe at all. AC's in both of our rooms were not working, the room smelled like rust mixed with boiled beans. Kids had pissed in the elevator, my wife threw up with the smell. Suspicious looking guys were grilling right outside the stairs exit. Beds were also terrible, if you have back pain do not stay here no matter what.
