B&B within walking distance of beach, shopping restuarants & night life. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was amazing everyday! So nice to have a private parking lot to assure always having a spot.

I have never been to a B&B where I was not greeted by a manager or owner. From the moment we walked in until the we left two days later we saw NO ONE except a server at breakfast. There were just notes saying, \"Pick up key here, get a snack here, leave your key here when you leave.\" NO PEOPLE to greet us, thank us for staying there or anything. We mentioned at least twice through Expedia it was our 50th Anniversary and other than a thank you for staying on your 50th email there was NOTHING when we arrived. No card or anything in our room. It is as if they did not care!
The porch was nice, our bed was comfortable and the AC worked but for the price I paid for two nights I could not believe that the TV was a blurry analog signal and set to the wrong size picture with limited channels. How cheap is it for them to not even have high def signals for their TV. It was not on a swivel to watch it from the bed.
The sofa was so hard I thought I was in the Flintstones sitting on a rock sofa. Horrible, uncomfortable and it hurt our backs.
The furnishings and lighting were dark, drab and uninviting. No color at all.
The parking lot was made up of rocks which are terrible for your tires or to walk on with NO LIGHTING at all at night on the walkway up to the hotel from the lot. The steps were uneven as well.
Last this is the 250th birthday for America. Every house nearby had flags or bunting. This house had NOTHING as if they hated America. DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS A MESS!

The Dormer House location was very convenient to the beach and to the famous Washington Street Mall. The parking is definitely a plus, because there is no parking anywhere when the summer is in full swing. The hostess was wonderful and very informative about the area and local activities, including at the house. There was short story reading on the porch, which was nice for something different. The breakfasts were delicious with generous portions. The room was clean and comfortable. I would for sure stay there again!

However some ceiling alarm beeped at 5am for awhile and eventually shut off and the bed mattress was not too comfortable.

Everything was wonderful about the dormer house we had requested through Expedia. Hey, room on the ground floor since we have trouble with stairs. As it turned out, Expedia did not forward our request. And therefore, we were given a room on an upper floor which was extremely difficult for us. The staff at dormerhouse did everything they could to make our accommodations safe and comfortable

My room was clean as was the bathroom. The staff were available if needed but stayed in the background so that you felt a sense of independence as if it were your own property. Breakfasts were wonderful and plentiful. And in the afternoon tea and cookies awaited guests in the lobby. Most rooms require climbing stairs but there are a few on the main floor for anyone with limited mobility. I highly recommend the Dormer House.

The house decor was old Victorian & nice. It had a little musty odor. It did get a little warm while sleepy. There is no AC. The room was clean & the bedroom was comfortable. The breakfast porch was very nice. Nancy & the staff were super friendly & nice. The breakfast for both days was delicious. It was nice sitting on the deck after breakfast & at night. The property has it own parking lot which is very convenient.

Parking is easy & convenient. As Dormer House is a Victorian house built in the late 1800s it is not really handicapped accessible & you will need to do stairs. The B&B is very clean, the breakfast is good & you won’t walk away hungry. The location is excellent, walkable to most anything in Cape May. Nancy, the innkeeper, is very friendly & helpful. With self check-in, Staff is not always physically present but always available by phone. We’ve been staying here 2-3 times a year for the past 5 or so years & we always feel at home & welcome. You need to keep in mind it is an old building so it’s not perfect.

This is our favorite place to stay in Cape May. Many things are walkable from here, and there is a parking lot where we can leave the car. We visit 2 times a year, and have never had any issues. We enjoy the large porch and of course the home baked cookies at tea time.

Nancy is the only one we met and she is the best. She was so friendly, kind and accommodating. She was happy and a joy to meet and talk to. The room was very clean. The parlor is beautiful. The rooms and entire place is warm. The food was delicious. The amenities of tea, coffee and cookies were perfect. Can’t ask for a better place. Great location and easy free parking as well.

We had a wonderful stay at the Dormer House. It is conveniently located between the beach and Washington Mall. The front porch has rockers and a beautiful neighborhood view. Angie was an amazing host. She made the most delicious breakfasts and cookies. We requested a room change and she was extremely accommodating. The beds were pretty comfortable but the pillows could be better. You are guaranteed a peaceful stay at the Dormer House in lovely Cape May.

My husband & I enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Dormer House. The location was within easy walking distance of the center of Cape May, and the on-site parking was much appreciated. Nancy and her staff were delightful, especially during the breakfast hour. The food was delicious and served with a smile. I would highly recommend staying at Dormer House when in Cape May.

A perfect stay in the heart of Cape May

This is a charming bed-and-breakfast right in the heart of historic Cape May. Very easy to walk to the shops and restaurants on Washington Street. Also an easy walk to the beach. Everything is so nice.

A Terrific Place to Stay

What a great stay we had at the Dormer House! The historical house is well cared for & so charming. The parking is easily accessible. The room was clean and inviting. Breakfast was on the enclosed porch & over the course of 3 mornings we enjoyed a beautiful & filling meal (Dietary provisions were made for several guests) However, the true standout here is the staff. Everyone is very friendly and ready to suggest a restaurant or supply more towels. We'll will definitely be back.

Breakfast was exceptional and we loved the private table seating. Rooms very clean and cute. The dormer windows need repair. The staff was mostly pleasant. Some not so warm and friendly but orhers always smiling and pleasant. Location is perfect. All in all, very nice place to stay.

Great location, good breakfast but the room was very run down. Large, Dark stain on the carpet next to the bed. Dusty furnishing and very worn out. Place was tidy but not clean. And it was evident in the reception parlor also. I would not stay there a second time.

Awesome breakfasts in a great setting: front veranda or an enclosed side porch. Yummy tea and cookies in the afternoon. The Diana room was wonderful and typically quirky. Showers were hot. Room was dark and quiet. Nice to have a ceiling fan. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone with stair climbing challenges as the stair is steep and narrow. Parking on site and off-season we had no parking issues anywhere.

The structure is a Victorian era, so there are creaky stairs and oddly shaped rooms and that of course is part of the charm of staying in Cape May's Victorian B&B, If you want modern AC, lighting and so forth go to the holiday inn. The AC worked fine, the lighting was quaint, the wifi was good. The hot water was hot and the bathroom was nice, clean, comfortable and relaxing.
Service and Breakfast were awesome and filling. (I've been to some that had a spray of asparagus with maple syrup)
We parked the car on the private lot and didn't move it until we left. Good deal in a beach town...
Will probably be back one day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dormer House! The house and room were clean and had beautiful antique furniture! The breakfast was varied and delicious and the afternoon snack to eat at your leisure was so nice too! It has parking right beside the house and the location was prime! We walked everywhere! It was a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the Washington street mall.

We have stayed at other Victorian B and B’s so we pretty much know what to expect. It was a little musty but not terrible. I did not realize until later that I had picked a room that had to accessed from a steep narrow staircase, so perhaps that should be more clearly stated. Our smoke alarm battery went dead and started beeping so we had to climb on the bed to dismantle it. We returned it and the staff was very apologetic, however they never replaced it. We just let it go.
On the positive side, the staff was lovely, the breakfast was delicious, cooked to order and there was plenty of ice and glassware available. The bathroom was quite spacious and the bed was comfortable. We liked having a ceiling fan as well. The front porch was a very nice place to relax and enjoy coffee or a glass of wine.
In relation to other B and B’s it was nicely priced
