Pool and waterslides were amazing ! We had so much fun. Kids play zone was also a ton of fun, kids really enjoyed it !
Well stocked kitchen (plates, cutlery, bowls) in our room was great for meals in.
Amazing quiet location, beautiful views of the mountains, walking trails right out the door. We watched Elk pass from the patio.

Con’s:
This place DESPERATELY needs a deep clean and updating/ maintenance. You could tell the surfaces were wiped, it was Vacuumed and bedding changed. But the carpet edges were visibly dirty, carpets and couch stained, couch edges torn up dust and grime on furnace intake / blow dryer and windows, dirty in the nooks and crannies. Cracked and mouldy ceiling tiles in bathroom, broken vent covers and pieces pulling off the walls.

We loved so much about it, but was really put off by the lack of cleanliness ! Price still felt high considering the state of the room.

We had a really good stay at the Douglas Fir the first week of June! We stayed in one of the apartments in a fourplex and our backyard view was the forest with daily wildlife! We saw many elk and their babies and on the last night we heard and watched 3 coyotes run through! The location was perfect for downtown Banff and the free bus passes anywhere in Banff (routes 1,2 and 6) were a nice surprise! You get a full kitchen in these units and our favourite part was the wood fire that we enjoyed each evening! Staff were very friendly and super helpful when needed! I’d definitely stay there again if we return to Banff.

I had really good experiene with Douglas Fir Resort during my stay. Property was clean and with all required equipments. Room service was provided everyday with satisfactory job done. We also got helped out by front desk for all other requirements as well. Property is also located in good environment and close to downtown so it was win-win situation for me.

We had large 2 stores until with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and sitting room and 2 bathrooms.
Staff was very helpful and friendly, we got free tickets for local transit (strongly recommend to use). Aqua park is wonderful. A lot of wooden local animals on the territory and 2 real elks were greasing grass in front of our unit.
I would like to suggest to wash windows and window panels, they're dirty.

An older spot, but well maintained and spotlessly clean. We loved our spacious room with a REAL wood burning fireplace! Cute balcony, comfy furnishings and a decent kitchen. The waterslides were a hit with our 15 year old (and us) and the outdoor hot tubs were also lovely. Too bad there wasn't an outdoor pool. Great location, near the bus and easy to get to town and back. 20 min walk (but it's uphill one way). We especially loved the loft.

The check-in process was very smooth, and the receptionist was friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the entire process.

Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing. The property feels very old, and our room had a strong musty, moldy smell. The furniture was worn out and no longer looked presentable. The room was also quite dark, and even the bedding appeared old and unclean.

In all honesty, the room did not feel clean, and the moldy odor was concerning. I would recommend bringing your own bedsheets and essentials if you decide to stay here. While the staff provided good service, the condition and cleanliness of the room need a total improvement. If you can find another place to stay, it would be much better.

My family have been coming here for over 15 years. We love where it is, often walking into town and back, beautiful. Wildlife outside the door, hot tub wonderful. Room was fab with full kitchen. Loft bedroom had its own bathroom so that was nice, I could do my makeup and hair in there haha. View was amazing. Indoor pool is refreshing in summer. Just a peaceful gorgeous place.

Indoor hot tub was great after long days of hiking. Room wasn’t over the top but had everything you need including full size fridge, oven, microwave range and toaster. Cleaning staff was excellent. Large balcony you share with other units separated by a privacy wall. Parking is convenient and make sure you get your complimentary bus pass as parking downtown is either paid or hard to come by. Buses every 20 minutes or so and only 2 stops to get downtown. About 7-10 minutes.

Everything went pretty smoothly, the room was nice, the mini split a/c worked well, and the fireplace was a nice, unexpected touch. I didn't use the kitchen but if you want to cook your own food everything needed to do that is there. Staff was friendly. The hotel is right at the #2 bus route, so if you want public transportation it's literally right there, and they gave me a free bus pass for the duration of my stay (I only used it once though, I had a rental car). There's also a restaurant right across the street, too, and has pretty decent food.

There were a couple trivial things that I experienced, but nothing major. The router had to be reset to get internet, and 2 different people parked in my spot on two different occasions when I was staying there (they have assigned parking). None of that is really the hotel's fault though. Routers need to be reset occasionally and I did that myself, and people do what they want. Apparently there were 2 guests who were either lazy, or can't read numbers. Not sure, don't really care. I'd stay here again :)

The check in process was great the staff were very helpful in the navigation of the building. The room could use a good cleaning there were grubby light switches and the plug in the bathroom looked as if it has experienced an electrical problem. The sheets had tears in them and there were only a few plugins that worked.

They don't really have a big pool, just 3 small pools more like a kids pool.

Rooms are comfortable with wood burning fireplace. Kitchen has a full size fridge and stove with oven. Microwave was really old and heating up took longer than normal. Just enough cups and plates to use for one meal

The area is unparalleled for beauty and quiet while being a short walk from downtown Banff. Douglas Fir Resort has a particularly excellent location. I hadn't realized till my most recent trip the extensiveness of the hiking trails on it's property, leading to Hoodoo Viewpoint and other areas. These woods and trails were right outside my room (Return of the Jedi Trail! Loved that!).

This time I stayed in a condo with full kitchen, balcony and wood fireplace on the 3rd floor. The room is a little older but the views and privacy were unparalleled. The Douglas Fir team was very kind and helpful especially Jess at the games/pool and James the manager. The pool area, again is a bit older but has large nice change rooms and the outside hottub is large and has good mountain views. No sauna or steam room. The 2 watersides are quite fun- don't let being older stop you trying. The only pity was it wasnt open at 9am as advertised. I was told it was because it was quieter shoulder season so it was posted on the door to open at 2:30pm.

The room and bathroom were clean and bed and pillows very comfortable, lots of wood provided free. The condo building was very convenient with elevator and parkade and luggage trollies if needed

Well equipped room with a kitchen for cooking facilities, big patio area at our 3rd floor room for sitting outside or a kid to run around. Elevator from the parkade was helpful to bring stuff to the room. The only obstacle was getting to the hot tub/pool area because it was down 18 stairs and if have mobility issues it makes it difficult.
We will look forward to staying again.

It has a great location up on Tunnel mountain with free parking and it is quiet there. You will definitely enjoy the space of the rooms compared to others in Banff. Just dont expect a new finishes or perfection like other options in Banff.

This is a great place to get away with the family for a weekend. It's great for the kiddos with the pools and outdoor hot tub. Location is only a 5 minute drive to the city so very good location. I quite enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in the rooms with lots of firewood available. Overall, I would definitely come back here again!

The facility and amenities are dated. There was no actual swimming pool but the outdoor hot tub was a nice feature.

Matress was hard as a rock and there was limited house keeping while we were staying there.

Friendly staff and wood was already cut and stored away in the parkade. The room we had was cozy, I just wish they vacuumed since we had a messy toddler with us.

Wonderful family stay. It's an older resort with the related issues (water leaks, older building odours in hallways) but it was affordable and comfortable and assigned parking was great to guarantee a spot as it was busy. The rooms were very clean, kitchen area was handy with all needed basics for simple meal prep, and the wood burning fireplace and balcony were wonderful. The waterslides were awesome, but also absolute chaos (only 1 attendant who was not even in the pool area), so I'd keep a close eye on your kids to prevent injuries. The splashdown pool is not big enough for people to hang out in, and signs indicate all are supposed exit right away, but large crowds of kids and parents were parked in the pool anyway.

Our son had so much fun while we relaxed in the hot tubs, but several kids, including mine, had to be constantly reminded to move away from the bottom of the slides.

This was our second time staying here. It's a little bit dated, toilet seat was broken, but other than that, it's cozy, and love the wood burning fireplace! The kids enjoyed the pool, and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. Great view of the mountains! The playzone is also a plus. I would recommend this for anyone with kids. Lots of activites to keep them entertained.

I highly suggest staying somewhere else.

• The key cards stopped working frequently. During our stay, we had to get new cards 4 times... the lobby was often full of people experiencing the same issue. The staff let us know that if the cards were close to a cell phone, they would stop working. Very inconvenient.

• There was a fire in the laundry room. Our room was quite filled with smoke. The hallway was extremely smokey. Lots of coughing / feeling sick (we had our patio open to mitigate it). We were quite concerned at the amount of smoke in the building, and that none of the fire alarms were activated. Some of the other guests alerted the staff. The staff placed a fan in the hallway to clear out some of the smoke.

• the cleanliness was rough. There were dirty dishes in the room that were left from the last guests. The tub was very gross and there was a ton of hair and gunk built up in the dryer. Everything was quite dusty and the coffee table was falling apart.

• the building is quite dated and in poor condition. It has quite a noticeable smell to it.

• garbages were not changed and we did not see any staff cleaning at any point. The indoor playground was very dusty and did not appear to be well maintained or cleaned.

• open fire places with a stack of wood next to it (and paper). No fire extinguishers anywhere.

We called before we booked this on Expedia and asked if there was any restrictions or limitations to the pool area. They said it would be up and running. They failed to mention that the pool didn't open until 230 so on her last day we woke up and went to take our kids swimming before we checked out at 11 like most hotels and it was closed when I tried to speak to it about the front end lady. She was condescending rude and they were very misleading and deceptive when we called to ask them before booking and they were dismissive when I talked to them and said it was posted on their website but yet we booked on Expedia definitely will not be staying here again probably worth the 20 minute drive to Canmore less money, equivalent hotel a lot friendly of staff.

Stayed in the duplex suite. Kitchen came with everything needed to eat in, the wood burning fireplace was warming and added 'That charm' to the amazing mountain view out the balcony doors.
Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. The pillows well I'm picky so I would suggest bringing your own if you have a favorite feel but didn't ruin a full nights sleep either. Free bus passes for use of the whole stay was a bonus (paid parking downtown avoided) and the stop is right beside the chalets.
The hot tub, water slides and play area kept the kids busy for hours. Will stay here again.
