We booked our room as a king room. When we got to the property, we were told they upgraded us. After wandering around (it's difficult to find rooms) we found our \"upgraded\" room. It was very outdated, extremely small and had a spiral staicase to get to our bed. We are in out 60's and were to say the least not thrilled with this. Went to the front desk to say this is unacceptable. After having to get a little upset about this as were were staying for 5 days and could not manuver this staircase in the middle of the night to use the washroom. I was told that there was not a king room available and \"this was an Upgrade\". Finally with the manager involved were able to get a double queen, which was beautiful and fully updated. Nothing like the outdated spiral staircase room. Not a great way to start a vacation after a over 24 hour drive. We only used the maid services 1 time during our stay and they only made our beds and folded out dirty towels, did not give us any toilet paper or facial tissues. Over all we enjoyed out stay and wouldn't let something like this deter us from staying again, just be aware of \"upgrades\" Front desk staff was very friendly and everyone working there was very pleasant. Our visit to Banff was a once in a lifetime trip!

Roomy, in a great location, bike use was free.
Staff were helpful
However foyer and lift floors were a bit dirty with street/leaf litter, even first thing in the morning.
The room we had was poorly lit, not so good for \"old\" eyes!

Loved the location. The staff were all amazing and accommodating. The rooms are dated. We were not impressed with the hidden expense when we checked in, having no choice in purchasing an amenities voucher per night’s stay to eat at their sister restaurant, Evergreen.

We stayed in the suite with two separate bedroom areas and a kitchen in between. It's older property and long overdue for renovation which doesn't bother me but might bother some. There are no blackout curtains and the curtains barely covered the window so it's very bright in the morning. The staff tried to be helpful but when my neighbors were repeatedly noisy starting at 10:45 p.m. it took a lot of prompting for the front desk to ask them to be quiet. For three nights in a row.

This property is old and outdated.
The carpet is terrible and the amenities bathroom products are poor quality. There is no microwave in the unit and the lobby amenities are less than quality. This hotel should be a 2 star. The alarm clock isn’t working and the tv doesn’t work well with the free channels. The sound between the walls is bad. We were awakened by the next suite phone alarm at 5:30 am on Sunday morning.

The staff was very responsive, caring & professional with all my questions. They switched rooms for me, which I requested for convenience, without a moments hesitation. The daily housekeeping staff was very observant & responsive to how they saw me using the room, making adjustments without changing the location of a single item.

It’s conveniently located right next door to one of the free ski area shuttles & also the local town buses. Relatively easy walk to the downtown restaurants & shops, although I did drive downtown all but the first day.

Dated but spacious accommodations. Single serve coffee teabags in the room, not sure if they have hear of Keurigs. 20 year old tv set. 40 year old furniture. They upcharge $15 per night for parking which should have been included one parking spot for this motel style place. They also charge add on fees per additional guest. We had a 2 queen beds for 4 people and upon checkout they accused me of not disclosing the extra two people in my family of 4. Then they tried to charge me an extra 20% for my stay. I honestly dont remember booking it for 2 in the drop down - that said I didn't like being accused of something I wouldn't have never done or cared about. Nice small pool and large hot tub and decent sauna. Nice shower and bathroom. No breakfast continental or otherwise. Couldn't find the place nearby to eat that they had the posters up of. Good for pizza delivery from pizza pizza was able to bring food right to the door. It is far away from the main hubub of downtown banff so its a hike and because of that I probably wont stay here again

Stayed in the King Loft suite and the bed was ridiculously comfy. 5/5 stars. No hangers available to hang clothes upstairs(?) and there is a $15/night parking fee. Refundable $50 incidentals fee, too. Not a big deal, but good to know. Appreciated that I could access our room without going through a main lobby every single time.

The room was very good for us. For those that want total darkness the room curtains need repair or replacement, one set did not fully cover the width of the large window. Also the beds are up against the wall on one side, two people in each bed may be issue.

The Carlton Hotel was perfect! The staff are amazing and always ready to provide guests with information regarding the hotel, surrounding areas and advice on places to go and things to see.

The hotel is spotless. They have a beautiful pool, hot tub and steam room which was great after a day of hiking and sightseeing. Juliann, the Manager of the Hotel (I hope I have her name right), thank you for the excellent service you provided me with regarding my room. It was the best!

Great option for a week long stay we booked the 2 bedroom with kitchenette. Was great to have the option to cook and have a fridge available.

Staff were excellent and responded to every request.

Only negative was that there was no laundry facilities.

Overall a good place to stay, close enough to the activities in town (Banff) and very near the busses to the mountains. Staff nice and looking to be helpful. Sauna/pools very disappointing. One night, not working at all. But, overall, this appears to be a real family place, and they let young kids run around. If you are older, and looking to relax, you are not likely to like this.

Had a newly renovated room with mountain view. Nice big bathroom with separate tub and shower. Giant entryway in room great for organizing outerwear and shoes. There was fruit, flavored water and coffee in cozy lobby. The parking lot was covered but too low to park under with our roof cargo carrier. Other pros were on site pool, hot tub and steam room and close to bus/shuttle stops. The main con is related to the layout. All the rooms have entry from outside so getting from pool back to room was chilly in winter especially for kids. The place felt a little like a maze, and certain blocks of rooms were not well marked as to direction of room. Other potential cons were no in house dining options and it was a bit further than other properties for walking to downtown.

This hotel is very old. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything from adjacent rooms. No staff overnight to regulate noise, partying etc. parking is paid on top of $400 room rates and can’t accommodate SUV with roof box, so there is 3-4 available spots. Hot tub jets out of order, doors were sticky everywhere, elevator was sketchy. Beds were old and sacked out. Hot water and water pressure were good for showers. Don’t expect a luxury $400/night Banff experience. Keep your expectations very low as to not be disappointed. Anywhere else this is a $75/hotel room.

The guy who greeted was not very nice. He didn't point us to the elevators. He just pointed
Us to where the room was and pointed us to the stairs. We took the stairs all the way up to the 3rd floor. I had my mom with me who is a senior so it was very hard on her knees.

Otherwise the room was nice, clean and spacious.

We appreciated being able to check in early, which was a nice start to our stay. However, our key card wasn’t working, and we had to go back and forth to the front desk multiple times to report that we couldn’t get into the room. Since it was very cold outside, this became quite inconvenient. On the third attempt, we asked a staff member to come and check the door directly, and after resetting the code, we were finally able to get in.

The location is very accessible, which we liked. That said, it would be much better if there were an on-site restaurant. Guests are currently directed to a sister hotel, which requires a bit of a walk not ideal during cold weather.

Overall, a convenient location with helpful staff once the issue was addressed, but improvements to room access and on-site dining would make the experience much smoother.

Room was very loud. You can hear everything happening outside and in the rooms beside you, it is quite unsettling. The photos are definitely more flattering than the property is in person. Overall not terrible, but not notably nice.

The pool is very outdated and was not very clean (floating stuff in the pool, muddy and dirty footprints surround it) with no designated place to really shower or get dressed.

The part about this property that is the biggest make or break was that it’s a mostly outdoor property. To get to your room (this might depend on where you are located on the property) you have to go outside to get to the front desk or the pool. This can be a huge downside if you are on the far end and it’s dead of winter when you are going from pool to hotel room. We had to run in the freezing cold while soaking wet from the pool because there is not a clean and dry location to shower and change in the pool area. It also means if you need to run to the front desk and there is a blizzard you might have to sacrifice a toe or two.

The parking is not included ($15/day) which is not horribly expensive, however it is almost necessary because there is very limited street parking. Just something to keep in mind.

Overall a solid 3/5. A solid stay if you can get it for the right price and you are prepared for the lack of amenities.

The room was beyond what I expected from the pictures online, beautiful fire place and a spiral staircase leading to the king sized bed, from the moment you enter the room it feels like a warm welcome into a private cabin.
Reception and hosts were amazing and exiting went as smoothly as possible. I will be back.
