It was our anniversary and they were amazing, they not only upgraded our room for us, but we were welcomed with a surprise of champagne a congratulatory card and dessert! It was really fantastic and although it’s going through construction right now and there were times of a bit of noise it was still wonderful

When I initially booked a suite at the RimRock, there was NOTHING mentioned about an upcoming renovation. There definitely was not a discount to reflect the inconvenience of early morning banging and scaffolding up in the windows. I paid a premium price for a noisy stay and tried to spend most of my time away from the hotel to get away from the construction. It was disappointing.

Staff was amazing. So helpful and pleasant. The views are incredible. The property is located in a great area. Walkable to gondola and hot springs. Shuttles run all the time into town. This hotel is under renovation in some areas. That was a bit of an issue with scaffolding and noise during the day, but not horrible and it is necessary. Can’t wait to see the rooms when they are done.

We liked the view from our room. Dinner & snack options were a little limited, and it wasn't that easy to run back to town for food. Hotel was very nice, but some areas such as carpeting is looking a little shabby.

Lovely hotel which we had stayed at previously in 2005. Everything about the hotel is excellent but only giving 4 stars as our bathroom was in need of refurbishment. The ceiling vents and access plates were rusty and a bit of an eyesore.
Other than that a very enjoyable stay.

Amazing views from dining and lobby, great dining. Convenient transportation with drop off and pickup directly from hotel to everywhere. Friendly helpful concierge staff to plan and rearrange outings due to weather. You can also borrow hiking sticks and bear spray from the concierge desk if you forget to bring your own. Hotel currently undergoing renovations so view from room not so great but did not affect stay due to being out all day during the day with activities. Glad we chose this hotel for our vacation.

Hotel is very dated. Dirty and dark hallways, fixtures in room (faucets, hooks) loose, dirty walls. Furniture in room showed excessive wear. It wasn’t communicated that construction/renovations were ongoing. Exterior not maintained. Tried to find alternative accommodations after one night but everything sold out in Banff due to long weekend. Certainly not worth the price paid.

So the property overall is not necessarily bad. It just needs updating so I felt the price and the property shape did not match up. We have been before and have been wowed. This time, I’m assuming because it is shutting down, the grounds seem forgotten, the common areas were not kept clean between guests, the bathrooms are aged and moldy. This is an expensive property and patrons expect more for the amount we are charged.

The Rimrock is a premium-priced 5-star hotel in a beautiful mountainside setting. The hotel was built in the early 1990s and is starting to show its age. The hotel will be closing later in 2025 for renovations. The guest room we stayed in was an amazing 2 room suite with valley views. For special events like anniversaries and birthdays, it’s worth it to stay at the Rimrock.

Rimrock was a great place to stay.

Great service from everyone! The views were amazing. Very clean. Maid service included turndown. We only ate at the buffet for breakfast. It was mediocre. Coffee shop was lovely. We bought sandwiches for a day touring. They were outstanding! Bus service was always on time and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyable stay at Rimrock with family. Spectacular 360 degrees views of the mountains. Location is about 2 miles from Banff downtown but easy to access using free bus passes provided by the hotel. Staff was friendly n helpful. Overall just perfect.

It is better to book direct with property. I had an issue with the room that the hotel couldn't help with since it was booked through third-party and likely the error was on Expedia. They did the best they could to help with a rollout bed.

The property is quite old and the bathroom is quite small and gives you a claustrophobic feeling. We stayed for 5 nights, the room cleaning missed one day of cleaning. They were also cleaning the windows on our last day, but they didn't inform about it. It caused a bit of sleep disturbance and noise. For the amount of money they charge, they should do a better job in informing customers.

This is a VERY unique property and even more so given the location to downtown Banff. The amenities are numerous and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful with any needs you may have. Parking is very expensive on site, however, so take that into account during your stay and for your budget. If possible, select a room on the back side of the hotel to get a view of the mountains!

Our room faced scaffolding and you could hear elevators all night. I called front desk they said they had no other rooms. They should not have sold that room for $1000 that condition. Outside the room is a large tub full of towels and you smell vinegar.

The Rimrock in Banff was the perfect end to our family vacation! We booked last minute, as we needed a break from our RV trip. From the moment we pulled up, staff was fantastic. They helped us park our oversized vehicle; offload luggage; and gave phenomenal tips on what we should explore. I was also incredibly impressed that each staff member we interacted with, was animated and happy to talk to/interact with our toddler! Carmack, Ulrich and Lockie (I’m sure I’ve spelt all those wrong) were who we interacted with the most, and we were just so impressed by their friendliness and professionalism.

Some reviews mention outdated furniture; and while yes there is wear and tear, to me it looks like the kind you’d see from repetitive disinfectaning/cleanings of the leather furniture—something I’d prefer 100x over fabric chairs when you’re unsure of the last time they were cleaned.

Overall a 10/10 stay, and we will definitely be back!

Rimrock Resort Hotel was what I had hoped for and I especially liked the mountain view in my hotel room selection. There are some amazing views all around the hotel. You receive free shuttles from the hotel, and, local shuttle which makes it very convenient to get around. The town is not far which made it fun to visit, have a good time, and not worry about a long journey back to the hotel. You have the gondola right next door which is a must. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and made my trip relaxing and enjoyable.

There was smoke in the room and hallways all the time, especially during breakfast and dinner times. The smoke perhaps came from their restaurants upper stairs and they need better venting systems I think. Such contrary to the the super clean air outside, the inside smoke gave us headache and sleepless night. Also, the inroom beverage and food charge instruction wasn't clear. There were 3 different types of water and since there was no mention for the 2 plastic bottled water we took them as complimentary as other cheaper hotels offer but I was charged after we left.

Quiet property but nothing extraordinary/exceptional, and not close to the heart of Banff with stores/restaurants etc. Staff are professional, helpful, and courteous only if you meet the right personnel. Thought we had a nice stay until I had to deal with the run arounds & uninterested staff due to unauthorized charges. If you search for lower ratings on Google, it looks like others experienced similar issues.

The hotel and the view are Stunning, but the room need to be updated, for the price it cost, i would expect much nicer room. I visited 110$ / room a night in Calgary downtown that looks 10 time nicer. Of course the view and the rest is on a different level, but still, for the price, it should be updated.

There is no bad view at the Rim Rock! Stunning! Every staff we encountered were lovely and helpful! The Bell Service is top notch and super friendly team! The rooms were large (exception the bathroom) and the fire pit out back was a lovely way to end the evening! Views from the lounge breathtaking. Easy walk to Gondola and Hot Springs. We stayed at the Rimrock Hotel in April 2025 and were genuinely pleased with the entire facility. We enjoyed breakfast buffet at Primrose, watching hockey games and drinks at Divas, coffee and snacks from the coffee shop, etc. The front desk and concierge staff were helpful and efficient, and it was helpful to borrow show chains for our shoes as recommended by the concierge for hiking. Parking was convenient and reaching the destinations on our itinerary was easy and hassle free. We highly recommend Rimrock Hotel for their great views, amenities like their outdoor fire pits, sauna, gym and spa but most importantly, the very relaxing environment throughout the property.

The property is quite comfortable for family. The area around it is beautiful and quiet. It is very close to up hot spring and Banff gondola , but it is a bit far away from the town. The restaurants inside the hotel are a little expensive and lack of choice. Anyway, I think it is a good spot to stay and relax.
