This was my first time staying in a hostel and honestly, it was a much better experience than I expected. The hostel is pretty decent, has a free breakfast, a good bar, and plenty of food spots nearby. Public transit is also super convenient, just a few meters outside the hostel.
Overall, if you’re traveling on a budget, I’d definitely recommend this place.
A few things to keep in mind:
* Bring earplugs because some people snore and they obviously can’t help it
* Carry a padlock for the locker if you plan to store valuables like your laptop or camera while going out
* Bring comfortable slippers for using the washroom/shared areas and avoid walking barefoot

Good and reasonable place to stay close to Banff ave and IGA supermarket. Also closeby near Squirell St close to Catholic Church. Its clean. Also room is clean and smell good. My only issue theres not enough space to hang out.
They have common area but it easily filled up with young and bosterous people that likes to drink. Kitchen is nice and well equpped but with few sitting area it get filled quickly.
Overall its a good place to stay esp if you are in a budget.

This was a great little hostel, very cozy. I don't typically stay in hostels but hotels in the area were way to expensive so I gave this a go. No regrets. I stayed in the all female room and we had our own on-suite bathroom and shower which was great (though it could use a bit more frequent cleaning, it wasn't bad though). Just a thing to note, if you value privacy, the curtains on the bunks don't cover everything, theres one end of the bed that they don't cover. Not a big deal if everyone else around you has their curtains closed, but yeah just a thing to note for people. Didn't find people too talkative, so if you wanted a social hostel, this might not be it, but for my purposes I was happy with it and would stay again.

Great location. The property itself is pretty tired, the shower had orange mold around the bottom edge and floor. There was no lid on the bathroom bin (it had broken and not been replaced) which was unpleasant with 6 females in the room! The kitchen is too small to even make a hot drink in if a few other people are using the space too.

I felt so safe and comfortable with the other fellow travelers around me. I’d go to bed early and woke up early with all the beds around me filled and never heard a sound. Everyone was very respectful of others space and property. I will without a doubt stay here again on future trips to Banff!

It went down to 3 degrees outside and you needed fans and no blankets and I was covered in sweat in the room. The beds squeak like crazy and the little fans did not work. People.were facetiming in the room after 10pm when I was trying to sleep. Just not a comfortable experience

Overall: Reception and staff were always helpful. Its a quaint stay, since you're mainly paying for a place to sleep, shower, and rest. First Hostel experience, and I can confidently say I could do again. For budget travelers, adventurers, and newly singled it works.

While my stay was good, my only concern is that when parked underneath in there garage some of the roofing fell on to my car and while investigating the situation one of the workers just walked passed me and made no acknowledgment or ask if everything is ok. Theres only 7 stalls when then say limited parking, the girls at the front desk were super welcoming and the accommodations were clean and great.

I stayed in the all womens dormitory with 6 beds ,the price was fair. The beds and amenities were very clean and well looked after. The dorm bed was little too soft and bouncing for me (I prefer firm mattresses). Staff was good and helpful. Since the weather wasn't hot yet, the room with no a/c was OK. For an early riser like me, I had to wait until 7am for kitchen to open so that I could make a hot tea and 8am for the breakfast. Other than that, all else was OK.

This is a hostel, not a 4 star hotel. That said, it was not even a mediocre hostel experience. \"Free on-site parking\" should read \"a few free on-site parking spaces\". When we observed that the hostel spaces were full, we were told that most street parking was pay parking, but if we looked several blocks away, there might be a few open free parking spaces (in a completely tourist overrun town - yeah right). It was hot with window but no fan to move the air - absolutely miserable night. Very lumpy mattress. Doors sqeaked all night despite other guests trying to be quiet.
In comparison, we also stayed at the Lake Louise hostel 2 nights. It was fantastic.

The stay was okay for a first timer in a hostel. Clean accommodations. Friendly staff and good food/drinks in the built in bar. However if you are as tall as me or close to, I’m 6-4”. You won’t fit comfortably on the beds as they have head and foot rails that won’t allow feet to hang over. Not for taller people if you book the mix rooms. Maybe book the singles instead.

We booked private room in hostel that had two queen beds. Lots of room, comfortable beds, shared bathroom. Quiet. Lots of hot water for showers. Towels provided. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided in shower. Parked on property in area under building. No air conditioning in bedroom but fan was provided and room temperature was fine. Access to kitchen area with room in fridge and pantry to store our food. Made sandwiches to take on our hikes. Breakfast included (coffee, tea, pancakes, muffins, fruit). Bar/pub served food - “special” hamburgers & fries & a beer on Thursday’s hamburger night was very good. Hit the spot.

Excellent location. Front desk service was good. Baggage room lock was broken. Entry door lock to upper floors is faulty. NO ELEVATOR. Kitchen has everything, spacious & clean. Most locker doors are sagging. My room 307 had one toilet for 14 beds. Top bunk bed has barely head space. Ladder to top bunk is unsafe. Handrails on staiurs shaky. Continental b/fast was plenty & acceptable. No provision to accommodate a shorter or older person. Most beds are occupied by workers.

It is a nice place we took the Double Room and it didn't feel like you are in a Hostel plus they have a nice bar and patio with happy hours from 4 to 6 from Monday to Saturday and Sundays it's all day, also the food was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They also have luggage storage for free of cost which is a bonus. Would like to visit there again it was a fun time.

Terrible smell and bad habits during night
I would like to give a short review to you and when I first opened the door the room smelled terrible to sweat, foot odor and terrible smell at the second night I stayed there.
I just slept 2 nights and it was not the best experience for it.
My bed was beside the washroom wall and a guy sleeping at the 204 room his bed just in front the room door used the washroom at 3 in the morning for pooping and left the door opened for all the night with a terrible smell.
Beside this guy has his laundry sweaty clothes and his smelly socks beside his room with terrible smell.
Bad attitude from this boy, I believe this boy is renting the hostel room for long term because of his habits to live.

It was a great experience. This was my first solo trip and the staff was very helpful and welcoming. I truly recommend this place.

Staff had good energy and the free breakfast exceeded expectations. A balcony door was left open in my room so it was very cold. Staff did their best to solve the problem with good attitudes, but the electric system of the room couldn't handle a second heater and would short out. It warmed up in time to sleep comfortably and despite the hiccup it was a good experience.

Arrived to find the bar has open mic night in same room, a few feet away so it was so loud I could not hear receptionist’s questions. Noise and loud music continued til 11:50 pm where the entire group just went outside in the alley near the bedroom and continued playing guitar and singing very loudly.

Staff here are very friendly and helpful. Facilities are well maintained. Rooms are spacious and clean. Wish there was more parking available - if you leave during the day and come back at night chances are you’ll have to park on the street somewhere and hoof it back to the hostel. Other than that, all around good experience. Would definitely recommend!

The room was way too warm at night (six grown men in one room is a lot of heat sources) and the heater was on. I absolutely could not sleep and am still repaying the resulting sleep debt. The bathroom had a weak but noticeable smell of mold. No elevators. No parking for me when I got there in the tiny underground parking alley.

I had a decent stay at the Samesun. It wasn’t the cheapest or the cleanest, but it was the best of the options in the town. Hotels are just way too expensive. Overall I would recommend it compared to the alternatives.
The location is awesome, right in Banff town. The wifi worked well. They provided towels. There’s a bathroom for each bunk room. The sheets has stains and weren’t that clean, so they could use some new ones. The staff were very friendly. The brekkie was very basic but what can one expect for a hostel.

Great location, great staff. The rooms are very nice, each bed has its own plugins and lamp, bathroom and shower in every room and is quite good. Communal bar is quite small but they had fun mingling activities. The breakfast was good and enough to fill me up. Everything was clean, and cozy. All the restaurants, bars, and shops downtown are within walking distance. Street parking nearby if on location parking is full (not many stalls).
