We have stayed at Many Country Inns and Suites over the years including this location in Holland. As often the happens, the properties age and maintenance and decor are not updated. We were uncertain of just what brand we were staying with. While the Country Inn logos were on the building, we received key cards with choice hotels on it. The bathtub had rust or some other discoloration where the tub meets the shower walls. Overall look was dark. The sofa bed was hard as a rock. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was limited with hot items of biscuits and gravy or make your own waffles. Instant oatmeal packets were provided.

For the price I was very nervous that it would be a disaster but I was more than pleasantly surprised at the knowledgable staff, their helpfulness and friendliness. The interior was updated and clean, and they had a mini fridge and microwave. I wasn't able to participate in t he breakfast because of work so really can't comment on that.

The staff was great for check in and out. There were little extras at checkout and in the room that made us feel welcome. Sometimes the little things stick out. Example - fresh chocolate chip cookies free at the service counter along with coffee and tea bar. Staff member was very nice and cheerful. In the room little extras - 2 bottled waters, and 2 travel sized deodorants included in bathroom supplies along with all needed shower supplies (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, face soap, makeup remover). The room and facility were clean.

Had been driving all day and was going through holland and quickly booked a night at this hotel. Upon getting to the hotel to check in, realized it somehow was booked for the next night accidently. Lady working the front desk was polite and said she needed to talk to her manager. Manager came out and was very rude and not willing to be of any help despite me being super upset and apologetic about the mistake. Told me I would have to call Expedia and to “hope” the hotel would give me a refund. I got back online to book a room for that night and it was significant more expensive. Expedia let me know that they reached out to the hotel to see if they would refund me (with a cancellation fee) and emailed me to let me know management declined. Mind you, I booked the hotel at 7:30 PM and tried to cancel/rebook around 8 PM and was told all cancellations had to take place BEFORE 7 PM which was before I had Even booked the room. I totally took accountability for the mistake in dates but the manager was arrogant and would not work with me at all. Will not be booking for any future vacations to Michigan.

We checked in, Roy was not friendly at all. We were assigned a room that smelled like cigarette. We asked to be moved, he got bothered. The second room was better, but when we got back at midnight, the lights didn’t work. Back to the front desk to be moved to another room, pack everything was an inconvenience. The 3rd room was much better. Tub had mildew! Definitely will not be staying there.

The room was clean and had nice linens. My only complaint is that the “trend” of soap in an attached tube in the shower wall is a failure. My husband and I had to BOTH shower with a postage sized bar of soap for two nights, as nothing would come out of the “tube”. So bring your own bath soap if you visit this hotel!

Hotel does not have immediate access to the road so took me awhile to find it. They were also paving the road leading to the Hotel. Staff was very friendly and willing to help. Grounds are well kept. The pool area was nice and clean also. Room was very clean. Stayed for a week and highly recommend.

My overnight stay was fine. The breakfast provided most food items but disappointed that the biscuits were not a bit more crispy, they were quite soft and I was hoping for eggs, they did have hard boiled so guess I should not be too picky. Staff were most helpful, the elevator was not working the morning I checked out and I asked for help to bring down my suitcase which was quite heavy and one of the ladies went up and brought it down for me. The room I requested was to be away from vending machines and ice machine and I was given a room that was quite quiet. Lovely! Really enjoyed sitting in the chair to watch tv in the evening. Location was great as many restaurants within driving distance. Overall the price was good and the hotel was very nice.

The parking was ample. The room and facilities were nice and clean. Everything in the room worked and the bed was comfortable. We were there for three nights and enjoyed three breakfasts. The first morning the breakfast was a little disappointing. There was only one hot dish - biscuits and sausage gravy. The other two breakfasts had more variety and were very good.

Things they cannot help: it's an old building, with VERY thin walls. We were privy to our neighbors conversations, whether we wanted to be or not.
Things they CAN help: Filth and misleading advertising. First our room was filthy. The baseboard was peeling away from the wall, with nails exposed, it had clearly not been even vacuumed (as evidenced by debris and prior customers key card on the floor), the bathtub/shower was moldy and filthy, the door of the fridge was sticky. We ended up wiping down every surface with lysol wipes - but the tub was too much for those to handle. Next - they only provided 1 partial toilet roll. (Really). I didn't think much of it until we discovered (at 3am) that there was not a \"next roll\", and then we ran out of tissues.
In the hallway leading to our room, there's a door, off the hinges. Just leaning into a room of some sort. What's up with that? \"Oh yeah, it does that.\"
Also, the outside door near our room stopped working. When I notified the front desk the response was \"oh yeah, that happens\". Excuse me? That is an unacceptable response, and if you know it's an issue and are awaiting repair, put a note! If you're such a crappy hotel you're not bothering to repair it, still, leave a note! So inconsiderate. Luckily we're not handicapped, but there are handicap parking spots, so those people are unlikely to be able to walk all the way around to the front when the door doesn't work.

The property is very dated. Their were light bulbs out in the bathroom and the vanity area. There was mold on the tub caulk. The bathroom vanity was all knicked up and chunks of wood riped off of it. The window was unlocked. The wind was blowing at night and whistling thru the windows. The staff room door was ripped off the hinges. Looked like it had been blown up frankly. And this was on the way to the pool. An outside pillar light was knocked over and just laying there with electricity running to it. The entrance is not easy access with rolling luggage. Breakfast was okay. Ive never seen bacon that thin, thought it was prosciutto. Very disappointed in the quality vs. The price. It was not worth $299 per night and we stayed 2 nights. The night manager Douglas was very pleasant and accommodating. Dont think we'll book here or at another location based on the condition.

This property was chosen by pictures thinking we were getting a nice place to stay for $331 for an overnight stay. When we checked in I had to pay an additional $100 deposit so that turned into $431 for an overnight stay. The property was like staying at motel 6. Doors were off hinges, shower curtain was ready to fall off. Carpet was dirty and no sound barrier between rooms because I could hear everything around me in other rooms. The staff and breakfast were the only two things I can recommend for this place. Very disappointing for what I paid for a nightly stay!

This hotel is dated and needs a fresh make over. The price does not reflect the hotel. Breakfast was very good but somewhat unorganized, stations too close together causing jams in people flow. Would recommend moving coffee to another area allowing more access to food. Need to work on appearance inside if you are going to charge higher price for a night.

For a hotel to advertised as pet friendly, the receptionist that greeted us on the day we checked in sure looked and felt unaccommodated and so allergic to our fur family. Instead of saying “welcome” he yelled across the entire lobby “WE DONT LEAVE DOGS UNATTENDED HERE” like we are not aware of the policy when he literally just let us sign one. Other than the not so pet friendly vibe, this hotel’s walls are paper thin! We can hear every pin dropped in every room. One bed was hard and uncomfortable. Bathroom sink was clogged it was draining water so slow. Overall energy and vibe of fhe hotel is just unaccommodating. Would definitely not go back there again.

Overall the place is nice and the staff friendly. However, when I went to shut the shades last night the locks on both windows were broke and we were on a bottom floor. Breakfast this morning was not great. The sausage biscuits and gravy were awful, a bag of flour would have had more flavor and there was also a rather poor selection of other choices. I had stayed last week and was really thrilled so was super excited about our visit this week and ended up rather disappointed.

Breakfast is horrible. Gives you diarrhea because they don't cook their food well. Rooms are dirty. Sheets are gross with stains. Bathrooms are falling apart. Bathtubs are old and never cleaned well with mildew. Room smell like mold. Curtains are broken and windows are Jimmy shut. Services horrible when you ask for anything. Have a complaints and they turn you away quickly. Homeless people roam around outside. hang out in the back by the pool area. Beer cans and bottles around the building. Pool has bad lighting and even lights hanging out from the sockets hanging in the air. When a lot of hotels at night. Seems like the nightlife of alcoholics and druggies seem to shine, and the general manager will ask you to give a good review. Going against whatever it is you've seen wrong there. The old white haired lady is intrusive and doesn't help just wants to know what your issue is if you have one. The younger employees there are arrogant and rude. The water there tastes really gross. Even the one they put out in the hallway. They have to add a lot of ice to kill the taste of metal. All in all good luck staying there if you want to have a good time. You'd have to be blind to a lot of these things to enjoy yourself, but they'll beat you with a smile coming in.

Best value for money in Holland. This hotel is a little piece of Hollands history. We used to hang out there sometimes in the 90s when my high school girlfriend’s mom worked there. We’ve stayed there on at least 20 trips to Holland since then. Downside is it is very dated and needs updating. The carpet and furniture are worn but clean, and the breakfast is very basic. But 5 stars for value, it’s centrally located with easy access to the main highways through Holland with a quick hop on the highway to downtown Holland, Saugatuck, the beach, and Grand Haven. It’s a safe location and there is a movie theater next door and a Walmart and restaurants close by. Super convenient. Staff is super friendly and it has an indoor pool. It might not be fancy but is an excellent value for the money! It also has a large space outside where I let my kids run around.
