The rooms are clean and well laid out. We've booked this hotel three times already and it never disappoints. Lovely, breakfast included in the price with lots on offer! Easy to get into the city by train.
Hotel staff helped me with surprise birthday decorations for my partner, which was very thoughtful in the way it was decorated. Would definitely recommend!

Nice room. It's an interesting hotel.
We stayed a few years ago and did feel breakfast not as exciting as it was.
Pancakes not kept warm and poor selection of bread. Only one sweet item which was a pain au Chocolat which not everyone likes. Maybe some small muffins would be good.
The shower leaked at sides and the big shower head needs cleaning as water not coming out properly. Also made a very loud noise. A kettle or coffee maker would be nice .

It was cold in the room and there was no possibility to heat up. My room was in the basement floor and outside the window was a box and when it was raining it felt like someone was playing the drums next to your window, especially at night. Breakfast was good.

The BEST in CLASS in Hamburg!

If I could I would give the Hotel Volksschule a 100/10 star rating. The hotel is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. Each and every staff member from Dominik at the front desk to the staff at breakfast do their part to make your stay exceptional. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. This was so comforting to me, as I was traveling from the US, and am not proficient in German, yet the staff helped me out with everything I needed from navigating the metro to ordering takeout on an app. The common areas of the hotel allow for nice socialization either in the bar area or outside at the tables. It did not matter the time of day of when I needed something, there was always a staff member to provide assistance in a welcoming and charming way. I wish I could take the staff home with me as they were THAT GOOD! I highly recommend the Hotel Volksschule without reservation. Also hats off to the decor team - every detail has a purpose -quite whimsy and pleasant. You get to test your math skills on the clocks! FUN!

Beautiful building inside and out. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was a comfort room and it was very big. The bed was super comfy and a fantastic delicious breakfast. So much choice and the scrambled eggs were delicious.

The subway is a few mins walk and gets you everywhere easily. We found the subway easy to get around. From the airport you need the green line (S1) and change at central to the red (U2) to the hotel. Easy!
You can buy a group pass for up to 5 people for 13 euros.

Absolutely Perfect

A delightful boutique hotel in a very quiet neighborhood that is just a short walk to the subway so you are just minutes from anywhere in Hamburg. The architecture and design is superb and the service is exceptional. Everything about our stay was perfect.

Very pleasant hotel just outside the city. Easy to use nearby subway train. Great option if you have a car, free parking. Converted school , rooms are nice, comfortable and fairly simple. Breakfast included was very good . Bar was reasonable, no other facilities - really just a place to sleep over and a good option if you want to save the expense of a city center hotel.

Wonderful new, updated hotel on the outskirts of hamburg. Maria at the front desk speaks English and recommended a wonderful Greek restaurant close by called Inos for dinner. What a great evening! Breakfast at the hotel is huge! Nice rooms, bathrooms too.

This hotel is in what used to be a school. It is very unique building. The rooms were large and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage due to getting to the hotel early and had several hours until check in. The breakfast bar was filled with lots of goodies and well maintained during a busy breakfast. It is off the main road which helped with noise. It is close to the train which made it convenient to travel into the main city center. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

This hotel is a decent value for Hamburg! The breakfast in particular was exceptional,-best I’ve seen in a long time. This location is about 3 minutes walk from the nearest metro,-which is all you need! The staff is also quite helpful! That is not to say everything went off without a problem. I did have problems connecting to Wi-Fi,- however, the staff did everything possible to accommodate including offering to change rooms and even loaning me an I-pad. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Awesome Breakfast and Cool Decor

This hotel was a great experience and the staff was super friendly and accommodating for all my neediness. The room didn’t have a tea kettle or coffee maker but there was complimentary coffee in the lobby of the hotel. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in Germany with lots of good breads, yogurts, cheese, etc. The school themed decor was cool since the building used to be a school. It only took about 20 minutes to get downtown by train. I’d stay there again.

Great for tourists and weekend trips. Beautiful room with lovely windows that open wide! Great breakfast buffet with many options. It's away from the city center but a 5 minute walk from public transit and a 10min ride to HBF. Would recommend if you're a tourist - drop your bags, hop on transit and tour all day knowing your hotel is a 30minute ride away in case for need a break/forget something. Only downfall is area - no restaurants/night life and the station can get a little sketchy with all the hobos/drunks.

Fantastisk hotel

Virkelig et spændende og på alle måder i den øverste klasse af Hotel. Sjovt nok - for hotellet virker som sådan spartansk, men stilen er yderst sympatisk, spændende og interessant. Værelset vi fik var stort og virkeligt højt til loftet. Brunchen kunne godt være Hamburgs bedste.

Jättefint hotell och trevlig, hjälpsam personal vid incheckning och frukost :)

Enda minusen var att toalettstolen måste ha glömt att rengöras invändigt och lakanen var av oskönt material som samlade på sig fluff och hår.

Ikke helt som forventet

Ikke helt som forventet ud fra den generelle høje bedømmelse.

Dårlige parkeringsforhold svært at komme rundt med en større bil.

Meget kraftig parfumeret lugt (airfresher) på hele hotellet dog mest i underetagen - hvorfor? Hvilken dårlig lugt skal skjules?

Meget larm fra gadetrafik især mod Lidl!
Ingen ventilation eller a/c og når vinduer står åbne så er der alt for meget larm.
Generelt for varmt på værelserne
Alle vinduer på gange mv. står derfor også åbne!

Gardin kan ikke trækkes rigtig for så man får gadelys direkte ind i hovedet? Der er tale om en decideret fejlkonstruktion som kunne afhjælpes med fx. en clips

Der er ikke kaffe på værelset.
Det bør der være når man viser 4 stjerner ved indgangen.

Meget mørkt på hotellets gange.

Ligger i et kedeligt område, som ikke virker som det mest trygge område.

Gratis parkering og morgenmad er ikke nok til at trække op til andre tilsvarende hoteller!

Personalet/Betjening er meget imødekommende.

Der er rigtig fint tryk på vandet selv på 5. sal

Alles in allem ein tolles Hotel.
Die Lage ist nicht ganz zentral, aber dafür sehr ruhig und mit der U-Bahn bestens erreichbar.
Unser Auto konnte so die ganzen Tage ruhig auf dem kostenlosen Parkplatz stehen :-)
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Sehr gutes und umfangreiches Frühstück, es wurde immer wieder frisch aufgefüllt.

Ok sted. Men er ikke mere end 3 stjerner. Sjov indretning med gl skole referencer. Havde bestilt dobbeltseng men fik 2 enkeltsenge som var skubbet sammen. Topmadrassen var der ikke og sengen var meget hård. Sover ellers normalt på en hård seng men uden topmadras så det ikke behageligt. Morgenmaden er fin men forvent ikke friskbagt brød. Det var bakeoff. Lidt begrænset parkeringsforhold

Rekommenderar högt!

Mycket fräscht hotell. Personalen var mycket hjälpsamma oavsett om det var receptionen eller på frukosten. Frukosten är mycket väl tilltagen, och fint. Rummet var rent och fint samt väldigt tyst. Bra att parkeringen är gratis. Läget med närheten till U bahn är väldigt bra.

ハンブルクの中心へは電車で10分程度とアクセスも良いです。夜はとても静かですが、目の前にスーパーあり便利です。日曜日はスーパーが休みなので、歩いて10分弱のキヨスクまで水を買いに出ました。
スタッフは皆さんとても優しく丁寧で、滞在中はとても気持ちよく過ごせました。
朝食も品数が多く、バンケットルームを含め、施設全体が清潔で綺麗です。

Die Zimmer waren sehr schön gestaltet und geräumig. Der Mix aus Backsteinwänden und modernen grauen Wänden, war schön. Das Bad war sehr groß und modern. Beim Frühstück wäre etwas mehr Abwechselung schöner, obwohl man alles bekommt, was man benötigt. Aber an drei Tagen war es immer das selbe.

In 5min Fußweg erreichte man eine Bahn-Anbindung. Das Hotel war sehr schön, sauber und hatte mit dem vielen Details einer alten Schule sehr viel Charme. Das Frühstück bot viel Auswahl, so dass jeder fündig werden konnte. Hier fanden wir die Brötchen etwas zu fest, ist aber auch Geschmacksache. Wir hatten rundum einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt.

Hamburgs bästa

Bästa läget i Hamburg. Lätt och smidigt att ta sej till med bil. Väl där kan bilen stå då tunnelbanan går både västerut och österut med 2 hållplatser nära. Rent och fräscht, trevlig personal och mycket bra frukost. Bokar alltid detta hotell i december för julmarknaderna och shopping.
