5 star all the way!
Our room was cozy and clean clean clean .The beds were extra comfy with nice down duvets. The staff were so nice and so friendly. Our waitress told us a little about the hotel which was very interesting . The Restaurant was our highlight of our stay .. from the homemade bread and the delicious butter !
I had the most amazing steak with homemade potatoes with glazed carrots and vegetables.
I had the best steak I have ever eaten .We can’t wait to stay there again ! And so convenient to get to the airport. I might add there is a grocery store right next door.

Very nice small hotel which is very close to everything in town and convenient, lots of little shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk. It is a very short walk to Lego House and also easily walkable to Legoland. Has a cute store attached. The breakfast food was simple but nice. Coffee options could be a bit better.

The hotel was perfect for a short business trip to Billund. The location is great as it is gives reasonably quick access, even by foot, to all of the offices I cared about, but was away from the amusement park/kid heavy areas, which made working much easier.

The food was excellent—both the breakfast buffet, but also the restaurant in the evening.

Finally, the hotel staff were, without exception, outstanding. Friendly, helpful, and attentive at every turn. On future trips to Billund, this is where I will stay; no question.

We enjoyed a lovely one night stay. It’s very close to LEGO House and within walking distance of the bus stop making it very convenient. The staff were so kind and friendly. They allowed us to store our bags after check out so we could explore the town more before our flight. Great breakfast too!

This was my third stay at the Refborg. In response to other reviews, I can confirm that this is an historic property maintained by a small, dedicated and very friendly staff who know the quirks of the property. Room layout and shower/bathroom size varies with each room. You will have plenty of hot water and great water pressure if you understand how to operate the knobs in the shower. Ask for help if it is confusing. You will have standard Danish beds which have separate bases that serve as the mattress, with a topper. This is the norm, and quite comfortable, but may not feel cushiony if you are not used to it. You can always request more pillows to use as body pillows if you wish. The windows all open in a variety of positions. Ask for assistance if you are not sure how to operate them. Air conditioning is not common in Denmark. In summer, open your windows at night, close the shades for the day to lessen heat. The Refborg provides fans to circulate air for comfort. One day may be warm/hot, with the next much cooler. If you are uncomfortable. know the weather will soon change. The rooms at the Refborg are ample for a single, cozy for a couple, a little more cozy for families. Utilize the community room and lounge area outside it for more play space. A fridge and microwave is there for your use too. If something just doesn't feel right, speak to the staff. I have gotten to know many of them well and know they will always do their best to help make your stay feel like home.

The hotel is right across the street from Lego House which is extremely convenient. The hotel front desk was also so helpful in making dinner reservations for us and also arranging a taxi for 8 of us back to Billund airport. If you are looking to spend one night in Billund this is a good option.

My only comment would be that we booked a room for 4 people and while it worked, it was extremely small. So be prepared.

Make Billund a day trip unless you like hard beds

I am shocked how many rave reviews this hotel has gotten. I chose it because of them. Maybe their room was different than ours. The worst sleep I have ever had I. A hotel. Hard and lumpy- - like camping - on a cot. The bathroom flooded and was patched up so much it looked awful and felt awful under your feet. Again like a campground bathroom not an expensive hotel. This was an expensive stay and the room was rundown, stuff falling apart. It was awful especially for the price. So disappointed. Breakfast wasn’t anything special and the coffee was terrible. Stayed at a hotel Skt Annæ in Copenhagen just $30 more a night and the amenities were incredible. Refborg needs a major remodel and new beds. Very little water pressure to the shower and the stairs are dangerous. Spiral that is very thin. It’s a terrible accident waiting to happen. I have traveled all over Europe and even in post Soviet Czech Republic the rooms/beds/showers were better. It was close to Lego House and the people when I saw them were very nice. Lego Corp need to buy that place and restore it completely. It was the best rated out of the town which leads me to say, stay a night and then find another town - like Copenhagen. Make Billund a day trip. Again the people were fine and it was as clean as it could be just worn down

This hotel was very quaint. It was clean and the room was large, with a sitting area. It has a very homey and welcome feel to it. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. We needed help navigating the logistics to get from Billund to Copenhagen and the staff helped us find the right apps to download and direct us to the bus stop. The app also helped with public transportation in Copenhagen. The breakfast was very good with hot and cold food options. We would definitely stay here again.

Great base for Billund's attractions

Refborg is well located on the edge of town within easy walking distance of all attractions. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the room and spaces available for guests were well appointed. Breakfast was a buffet style with cereals, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, breads, meats and cheeses, and hot scrambled eggs and bacon - all regularly restocked.

OK for families but not for couples.

The hotel has no elevators for our second floor room access. The rooms are small with a double bed and a bunk bed that left no room to open up our suitcases. They booked a loud party below our room that went on until 3:00 AM. We were charged an extra fee at checkout for using our VISA card. Breakfast was very good. Location is good with an excellent supermarket across the street and walking distance to Leggo House.

Well-equipped hotel that is extremely close to Lego House. A few restaurants nearby, and a supermarket.

The good -
Lovely friendly service
Comfortable bed
Spacious room
Good breakfast options.

The average -
No fridge in the room, but there is a shared fridge in a communal area.
A plastic shower curtain is something I haven't seen in a long time!

The bad -
If you're a light sleeper this might not be the place for you. The blinds let in light, and the sound of the airport might wake you up. But, there's no escaping the sound of planes in Billund so you might not find anywhere else to be better.

Husband and I stayed two nights. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful. Felt safe and loved all the family-friendly shared living room type spaces for anyone staying in the hotel. Would like to come back with our kids in the future and do more Lego stuff. The mattress was not my favorite, but after looking at several other hotels in the area I think it's just standard for this area. Not from this country so trying to be open to expectations and new experiences.

The staff is really nice and dining accommodated my celiac needs. The room was nice with French doors that we kept open during the Lightning & Thunder storm that night.
They do need to do more repairs in our room as the carpet needs to be replaced as a smell of mildew was in one corner.
We would stay there again.

Very convenient location, there is a stop for the Shuttle bus just out the front, a supermarket just over the road, and the Lego house and some restaurants only a little further. We had food at the hotel one of the nights and it was really good quality, a little more expensive than what we are used to in the UK, but in line with prices in the region, given the quality it was definitely worth it. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. If we come back to Billund (which is highly likely, we had such a great time) I'd definitely consider this hotel again.

Great location for Lego House and close to Billund centre, but the hotel is very basic - almost hostel like. Rooms are tiny with no storage space as a family of 3 it was very tight, but if you had a larger family and a couple of big suitcases you would struggle. Staff on reception quite disinterested when we checked in, I even had to ask where we had to go to find our room and when breakfast was as none of this information was volunteered. Overall, In need of improvement, but location good.

Spent 3 nights with two teens to visit Lego House and Legoland. It’s so conveniently located you can walk to both attractions or take the free shuttle bus. It’s also close to the Teddy Bear museum and local supermarket and cafes. We loved the breakfast, super fresh and delicious! It was an exceptional and unforgettable stay, away from the crowds, quiet, friendly and so danish. We will definitely come back!

Three Musketeers and a Toddler visit the Refborg

The communication between myself and the hotel was excellent as I was travelling with three children on my own for the first time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was nice and clean. There was a wide choice for breakfast both hot and continental choices. One concern I had was arriving after reception had closed. The hotel said they would leave a key. They did exactly what they said they would do so reduced the stress of worrying we wouldn't be able to access our room. There were no problems from the beginning of the booking to the checking out process. The hotel are happy to keep valuables like passports if needed. There is shampoo and body wash in the room along with a hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. The shampoo/bodywash smells really nice. If you want breakfast teabags maybe bring some of your own. Breakfast tea is available at breakfast but in our room there were speciality teas although you can take some from breakfast time back to your room. I also heard someone at the airport mention they had bought their own teabags for their accommodation. Location is great for Billund itself and Legoland. Its a 20 minute walk to Legoland and 2 minutes to Lego House. The hotel is also a pick up point for the hourly shuttle bus around Billund and to the airport which is free during July and August. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

I have stayed at the Refborg before, and have found it to be continually comfortable and convenient. Keep in mind that you must be able to use stairs to reach your room, though there is an easier flight of stairs at the back of the property if the curved stairway seems daunting. There is help available if you need assistance with your luggage. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with radiator heat the is self adjustable, windows which open for fresh air, plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower, a cozy comforter for each bed, and plenty of pillows. Each room also has a small TV, an electric teapot with a selection of teas, and instant coffee. There is a community room with a refrigerator if you require a place for food items, or more room for relaxing. Room layouts vary depending on what you book. Some have two areas for bedroom and the other for a couch, table and desk area. All have well equipped bathrooms and roomy dresser drawers and an area for hanging coats, and other clothing. I for one appreciate that the rooms are not cluttered up with too much decor. The clean simplicity made my stay restful and easy. Thank you Refborg. I will return!

This was my second stay at the Refborg. The quality of the accommodations and service is still top notch. It wonderfully located in the heart of Billund, next to ABC grocery for convenience of shopping. It is also walkable to The LEGO House, the Billund Bakery, and a handful of dining options. The Refborg itself has a wonderful restaurant, with at least one vegetarian/vegan option. They can also adapt to your needs and diet restrictions. The breakfast, which comes with your stay, is a lovely spread of local breads, rolls, pastries, meats, cheese, fruit, yogurt, cereals, eggs, bacon, coffee, tea, hot water, and a selection of milk, including lactose free and soy milk as options. The beds are quite comfortable, the shower is wonderfully hot with great water pressure. The rooms are cozy, some larger than others, with windows that easily open for fresh air. The staff members are all very kind and happy to provide information to make your stay quite comfortable. I am glad to have returned, and will again, next time I am in Billund. Thank you Refborg!

I very much enjoyed the hotel. The staff were so nice and helpful. The rooms were large enough for 4 people, comfortable and nice. We were also within walking distance from all the attractions and shopping. There was plenty of parking as well.

The breakfast was included and excellent! Best breakfast I have had. We also ate at the hotel for dinner and it was delicious. I would go there just for the restaurant!

This hotel was OK but expensive. It cost the UK equivalent of around £450 for two nights in a family room which was very small for 4 people, with a slightly rickety metal bunk bed for the kids. The bathroom was a wet room design with a floor that flooded after having a fairly short shower. We would have been a bit more tolerant of the amenities if the price had been better.
However, the breakfast was enjoyable, with Scandinavian options like rye bread, cheese and ham (and strawberry juice and sheets of chocolate, which the kids loved) but also the usual options of cereal, yoghurt and pastries. The hotel staff on the reception desk were also nice and helpful.

We had a family room for 4 booked for 2 nights, as we were only visiting LEGO house but the room was too small for 4 people, and it felt very claustrophobic!
There was a bit of mould and dust by the windows too.
Breakfast was good enough, and the staff helped us book a taxi to Vejle train station.
Overall, not a bad place to stay but only for a short visit.

This is a small hotel, with a cozy, homelike atmosphere. Yet it also houses a small, upscale restaurant which serves local, Danish dishes which are exquisite. My stay was 2 1/2 weeks, in a double room. Though I was staying alone, this size room suited me well, as it had separated sleeping, living, & bathroom areas, with two large windows, three adjustable radiators, a couch, desk, chairs, plenty of pillows and comforters, good lighting, a small TV, a dresser of drawers, an electric tea kettle with a selection of teas, organic instant coffee, hot cocoa, and ceramic cups. There were plenty of outlets for whatever I needed to charge, and a hair dryer.

The hot water is plenty hot, with great water pressure! The windows open for fresh air, radiators can be dialed into whatever warmth level you need. Double bed is two twins put together, which is standard in Danish hotels.

Included breakfast is a lovely daily spread with strong, hot coffee, every milk or juice you could want, bacon, eggs, selection of meats, fruits, vegetables, fresh rolls, bread, danishes, yogurt, cereals, jams, butter, cheese, teas, hard boiled eggs, served for 4 hours in the restaurant area where you can sit next to a sunny window.

The staff are so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Dinner can be brought to your room. And there is help with carrying your luggage upstairs. Lovely & winding, the stairway is the only option for going up. Plan accordingly.

I look forward to my next stay at the Refborg!

Very nice cute little hotel. Very clean and everyone is super friendly and helpful! I would’ve given it all excellent marks except that it didn’t have a lift and if you are traveling with a full size suitcase weighing 23kg it’s kinda hard carrying up the stairs to your room. Thankfully the front desk was able to find someone to help us!

Delightful historic property (oldest building in Billund) with an excellent location in the middle of town. Comfortable bedding. They accommodated our need for a third bed for our son. The included breakfast had excellent variety, food quality, and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the shower leaked water on to the bathroom floor - floor had no slope to the drain. Bathroom had no places to hang things. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

What a wonderful hotel, great friendly staff, amazing FREE breakfast with everything a visiting Dane would want.

If I have to complain about anything it's the lack of A/C. I know it's a first world problem, but the room was VERY hot, but not something that brings my rating down. I would definitely stay here again.

Also, it's right next to the Lego house which was our destination.

Friendly hotel located 5 minutes walk from the bus station and 2 minutes away from Lego House. There's a small supermarket opposite. The breakfast was delicious and we also ate in the hotel restaurant which was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the area is quiet and safe.

Best hotel in Billund

This hotel was in an ideal location across the road from the lego house, local coffee shops, supermarkets and restaurants and 10min walk away from legoland.

The hotel has an onsite shop and restaurant.

Upstairs has a breakout space from your rooms with a fridge, microwave, kettle and tV and sofas as well as books, games and toys for the kids including lego

We loved this hotel due to location and feel. The breakout space was fantastic with comfy sofas and blankets to sit are relax and the hotel even gave us nice wine glasses to enjoy our wine which we bought from the marvellous selection they had.

The beds are comfortable the shower was amazing.

Breakfast was included with the usual selection of eggs, bacon, breads, yoghurt, fruit, cheese, meats and cereal with nice coffee, tea, milk and fruit juices

Will definitely return to this hotel. Highly recommended this clean and relaxed hotel

We arrived past check-in time but our room key & info was left for us at the door. The hotel is a bit of a maze and hard to maneuver with two kids and luggage. But overall a great room. And the best part, across the street from the Lego House, which was our reason for visiting.

Based on the excellent reviews posted online our family stayed at the Refborg Hotel & Spiseri for two nights for our visit to Lego House and Legoland . As a general rule we like to support local and boutique hotels when we travel. Unfortunately, our experience was not so stellar. The good: great location in central Billund close to Lego House, decent restaurant and shop with gourmet food and drink, and nice sized common areas The bad: we arrived just before check in time so we had to leave our bags in an unsecured area next to an unlocked door while we visited Lego House, the room was rundown and in dire need of a deep clean, the room smelled very musty even after we aired it out all day and there were big, nasty stains on the carpet. While the restaurant was quite good, the breakfast selection was seriously lacking and not refreshed. Also, there is no overnight staff so when the restaurant and shop close there is no one on site if you need assistance. The second night of our stay there was a party with loud music happening across multiple rooms down the hall into the wee hours of the night and it kept our kids up. I'm all for having fun but at 2:00 am I shouldn't have to be the one to police the hotel guests. I would not stay at this hotel again and regretted not staying at one of the Legoland hotels.

Great location, excellent breakfast

Slight issue at check in as they couldn't find our booking, but this was due to us making alterations after the initial booking. The double bed was just two single beds which moved apart easily, despite this they were very comfy. However, the location was perfect walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets and attractions. The breakfast was superb and all the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend for those visiting the Lego house.

I Love the Refborg!!!!

I love the Refborg! The owner and staff are so nice. Sometimes we make them a little crazy (\"can we get the pasta but with pesto instead of the other sauce, gluten free bread, veggies instead of bread with hummus, etc.\") but they roll with it. The food is great. Shop is great. I look forward to my yearly visit!

Refborg- quaint & tasty

Lovely. The room is like other Billund hotels I have stayed at (LEGOLAND, Propellen, etc.). Only thing- no refridgerator (would be nice to have). Also- no screens in windows and no AC makes it a little tricky...
Owner is great. Helpful. As is the staff.
The food is very nice and the store is great.

Hotel was a nice stop. Close to Legoland, is on the free shuttle bus route. Free parking. Nice and friendly staff. Breakfast was good, with limited hot choices but a nice variety of cold choices. Room was clean and bathroom was clean and tidy.

Vi tilbragte 2 nætter på Hotel Refborg i familieværelse med 2 voksne og 2 børn. Værelset var ikke så stort men fungerede fint, med køjeseng og en dobbeltseng. Børnene var fint tilfredse med køjerne, dobbeltsengen var ok. Morgenmaden var rigtig fin og personalet var flinke og venlige. Vi havde fået et værelse uden køjer da vi ankom og receptionen er ikke døgnbemandet. det lykkedes dog at få fat i dem telefonisk omend der var temmelig lang ventetid, da vi endelig kom igennem var de rimelig hurtige til at komme og værelsessituationen blev løst tilfredsstillende. Alt i alt et fint ophold og beliggenheden var helt perfekt til vores besøg i LEGO House.

Aamupala oli perinteinen. Munakokkelia, pekonia, jogurttia, leikkeleitä, hedelmiä yms. Erittäin hyvää ja tuoretta leipää, murovalikoima oli laaja.

Henkilökunta oli erittäin ystävällistä ja avuliasta. Sanoisin jopa ystävällisinä palvelua mitä.olen kokenut. Tällä kertaa majatalo oli hiljainen sesongin takia.

Huoneet olivat erittäin siistejä ja puhtaita. Mutta... talo on erittäin vanha, talo alunperin 1856. Joten huoneissa ei ole muuta ilmanvaihtoa kuin ikkunat. Suihkut on rakennettu melko erikoisesti, eli meillä vedet johtuivat poispäin viemäristä. Eli lattiakaakelisaumoissa oli jo hometta. Mikäli kärsisi hengitykseen liittyvistä ongelmista, menisin muualle.

Hyvä puoli on läheisyys Billundin kaikista palveluista ja ravintoloista. Lego House on vain 5 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä.

Værelserne fremstår lidt slidte - specielt badeværelsesgulv og tæpperne på selve værelset. Det ER sikkert rent, men det virker lidt \"nusset\" fordi det er så slidt. Men det er ok til prisen. Hotellets personale får til gengæld alle mine stjerner, fra reception til restaurant - alle med kæmpe smil og meget højt serviceniveau. Morgenmaden var rigtig fin - aftensmaden i Spiseriet uovertruffen lækker. God gedigen dansk mad - lækkert tilberedt. Beliggenheden er perfekt - kort til byen, men helt uden larm fra trafik (boede dog også mod gården)

Personalen var helt fantastisk. Hotellet var litet och otroligt mysigt. Bra mat, frukost och fin liten shop. Gångavstånd för våra lite större barn till Legoland, bra med övriga lekplatser i nära anslutning till hotellet. Bra rastmöjligheter för vår hund. Kan verkligen rekommendera detta hotell. Enda negativa var att det ej fanns ac på rummet, endast fläkt. Det var dock ca 30 grader när vi besökte platsen.

Das Hotel an sich ist sehr einfach gehalten, was dem Hotel zu gute kommt ist einzig und allein die Lage direkt am Lego House, für das gebotenen einfach viel viel zu teuer, im Bad auf dem Boden sind keine Fliesen sondern Farbe die ihre beste Zeit schon vor langer Zeit hatte, Duschen ohne Badeschuhe nicht Empfehlenswert
