Breakfast is great but the facility is very decayed. Carpets and curtains are stained and broken - they seem at least 20 years old.
The location is bad for a tourist. Cabs are difficult to get and take a long time. Not walkable to downtown and touristic destinations. It feels like a cheap college dorm. I think people actually live in it. Definitely not the price Expedia found for us.

This hotel fails the basics

The word that most aptly describes this hotel is "worn". It appears to have built in the late 80's or early 90's and I don't think there has been a single refurbishment effort made since. The carpets are near threadbare, the walls are in dire need of a paint job, and I don't think a single piece of furniture in the room was undamaged, though for the most part it was still functional. There were too few wall sockets to charge more than one phone without disconnecting lamps and right outside the room one wall lamp flickered and another was burnt out, but the one unforgivable crime was the state of the madras. There were 2 single madrases to a double bed (which is apparently the German way). Both were of dubious quality, but while one was at least still firm the other was so worn and soft that you basically fell into it like a waterbed leading to me waking up the next morning with back pain. The bed is the one thing that MUST be okay, otherwise nothing is okay, when we complained we were told that there was nothing to be done, how a hotel this size doesn't have a few reserve madrases on hand is beyond me, but dealing with breakages is, as we have already established, a non-priority at the Holiday Inn.

Even if everything else had been top notch, a faulty bed earns you one star, so that is what this hotel is getting.

Do not stay at the Holiday Inn if you have other options.

The hotel was absolutely lovely inside. Gorgeous artworks, modern and spacious lobby. The restaurant and bar was amazing and staff were friendly and attentive. The food was great and the service too. Our room was simple and very clean, perfect for what we needed. The view was not too bad, the area its in looks run down, with derelict buildings and graffiti and sewage smells to one side amd a nice park and the river to another. I mean its close to a motorway and train station...good transport links so we hopped on and off of the trains, we couldn't fault the public transport system. Not sure how safe i felt walking back under the motorway at night-time, but didnt see many people. The hotel felt very safe and I would return again. Thanks for having us Hamburg!

On the outskirts of the city centre but easy transport links. Hotel reception staff very professional and efficient.
The triple room we had had a lovely view overlooking the river but was rather dated.
Mattress edge was rather saggy.
Didn't have breakfast as at €20 each it's far too expensive.
Housekeeping could have been better, didn't replace coffee sachets or toiletries.

Very weak location and disappointing service.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. Location is very weak and surrounding does not look great. You have to take taxi or public transport as walking - despite not long distance - to center is not very pleasant.
Service was quite weak as there are in the reception generally young and not very experienced staff.
Breakfast is expensive (20 Euros) in comparison to other hotels in Germany. Unfortunately, there is no other option close to hotel.
The cost of the hotel is very high comparing to value, which offers. I do not understand why it has 4 stars... I will never stay again in that Holiday Inn.

too expensive for a broken mattress

The hotel doesn't even deserve 3 stars, let alone 4. We paid for a triple room with 3 single beds, and got 2 beds and an extra bed with 2 mattresses that can be joined, height 30 cm from the floor. When I tried to ask for a 3rd normal bed, they were not interested, instead they said that Hotels charged me for 3 single beds and that I should complain to them, because they don't have another room. The maximum unprofessionalism of the manager who says that I am breaking my back for 3 nights in a room that costs 431 euros for 3 days without breakfast. Overpriced for the overall service, location and facilities, which are not there as if you were in a one-star hotel.

Old run down hotel with poor service

Booked a few days before the stay, and choose the hotel because they have a pool, which my two sons love. Further, the holel claimed to have free parking.

When we arrived, the person in the hotel could not speak English, the pool was closed (they just forgot to inform us) and there was no parking available, other than in the hotel's basement which I had to pay for.

Really bad service, and really bad handling of guests by the hotel staff. I would not recommend it to anyone!

Lovely hotel, clean and friendly staff.

The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful, it's a really well laid out and large hotel with lovely well appointed, clean rooms.

The only slight niggle (and this has happened a couple of times in Holiday Inns) is that despite checking out in the morning, a cleaner knocked on the door trying to clean. This doesn't make any sense given it was our last day and the front desk would know if we had checked out or not. Please Holiday Inn - resolve this comms issue. In the meantime if you are staying, remember the Do Not Disturb sign!

Disappointing

As I booked the hotel based on a colleague's recommendation and found out that by chance a wrong address was given. So in fact I & another colleague went to another Holiday Inn (which is the one that originally should be recommended) to check in and that is more in the city centre, but was told by the staff that they cannot find our booking because we booked a different location. Due to the strike on the road, taxi driver was not willing to drive us to this hotel, so at the end it took us ages to get to the hotel.

The hotel is in a residential area and I would say it's better if you have a car to move around. The hotel structure is a bit weird because the lifts to the rooms are very far away from the reception area, looks like walking to another building. I booked a standard room, but I was quite disappointed because the room was not like what I expect and it was a bit dark and what I don't like most is the bathroom as it was very small which only got a curtain around the shower area. The shampoo and body wash are all in one which the quality was so so. Looking at the other reviews, I believe maybe other room type is better or they have some other renovated rooms. Overall the room was just okay, the staff were nice and helpful, but it was just a bit disappointing.

Holiday Inn Hamburg

We stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights to explore the city. It is located in a quiet residential area and not as central as I had thought when we booked, about a 15-minute walk from the nearest station. There is not much on the doorstep in terms of shops or restaurants. The hotel is a little dated, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given their proximity to a busy highway. We also had views of the harbour which was nice. Staff were very helpful. The only downside was breakfast, which was slightly chaotic - we hadn't booked, and although the staff were happy to take 20 Euros a head and wave us in, there weren't any free tables on either morning. We probably wouldn't choose to stay there again as a more central location would suit us better.

Mediocre execution of great promise

Room, beds, bathroom just ok. Clean enough. Size ok for 2. BUT not enough electric outlets. No exhaust fan in bathroom (but a window in the bathtub). Internet ok. Hotel layout resulted in a lot of walking to get to main section. Had BIG problem with a Night Manager not listening to our needs or communicating hotel's needs (e.g. a credit card # to do laundry). Another BIG problem requesting breakfast to go at 4 a.m. (we had a flight at 6 am) because they insisted we use the room service form - and then that Night Manager showed up with a breakfast table at 4:15 am. Useless. More: This "Green Hotel" had glass and not plastic tumblers in bathroom; one dropped onto the floor, and of course it broke. No washcloths, no hair conditioner. One outlet for hot water pot, Hair dryer, shaver. Bedroom needed more outlets for charging electronics. The best thing about the neighborhood is the Aldi grocery store a 10-min walk away.

The hotel is fine, looks like it could do with an overhaul though, bit dated and tired. We received an upgrade on check-in which was nice but the room wasn't anything to write home about. It was fine for one night. Public areas were pleasant, breakfast was excellent, good variety and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very overpriced for a very basic hotel. Incredibly inflated price for the week I stayed, had to change rooms as they did not assign the room I had paid for and then stated that breakfast was not included! Would not recommend this hotel for future visits to Hamburg. There are better quality hotels in better locations!

Great hotel, out of city centre, but very comfy

Our second visit in a week as it was our return trip from Sweden.
Very good once again, slight issue with the parking garage door but excellent staff came to help within minutes.
Hotel is very clean - one of our rooms was an executive room which was very well appointed. The swimming pool is small and shared with The Bridge Hotel next door so gets very busy.
Breakfast is not cheap but is very well stocked so I guess worth the money. Maybe.
The city skyline view is beautiful from the upper floors especially at sunset.

Stayed on the way to a family holiday in Sweden. Convenient location if you don’t need the city centre and it’s easy to get to.
Underground secure parking pricey and be sure your car will fit before(!) you drive in. There’s a very low roof in one place in the garage that could catch out unsuspecting drivers.
Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was very well stocked with wide choice of foods.
Good overall and well equipped.

A lovely stay overall

With a good location to easily find as well as just a short walk to the local bus service, the Holiday Inn is a great choice to use as your hub to explore Hamburg.
The staff were faultless, entertaining my attempts to try my German as well as being friendly, courteous and helpful at every encounter.
The air conditioning in the room really helped during this hot summer break and the complimentary fridge refreshments each day were a welcome bonus.
The only issues were with the condition of a couple of parts of the bathroom and the cost of the car park: The sink appeared to have quite deep cracks in it (not good for bacteria!) and the toilet seat had the pads missing, but otherwise the rest of the room was well maintained; the car park charges were, in my opinion, quite excessive - after a couple of days of charges paid, we then chose to park our car in the neighbouring streets instead.
Overall, definitely recommend for future bookings!

We stayed two nights here, not consecutive so we had different rooms. The first room was clean and comfortable, as was the second. But although the second room was particularly large, it didn’t have any air con at all, which was not comfortable when it was 35 degrees outside and we had floor-to-ceiling glass windows! Generally a nice hotel, but maybe request a room with air con if you need it, otherwise it’s pot luck and you may not sleep well! The staff were helpful and nice.

Everything was great except some things: parking costs - I did expect it was included in the price (that the hotel took care of my car). I know there was free parking, but no security took care of the cars there so I had to pay for parking in the hotel garage. The minibar, which was free, was Very Mini, only 2 water 1 cola and 1 beer - could be more to choose between. When finished in the bath, then the floor flooded when emptying the bath for water - I had to empty it very slowly and dry up the water on the floor. And one more thing. There where 100 TV stations, but 3 in English and those were news stations, so we could not watch any movie or rent one. It is very far to walk to the center with a small child. There was no iron in the room. But other than that, the hotel was great, good service, nice fitness and warm pool, very good restaurant.

Leider waren wir mit unserem Aufenthalt im Hotel nicht ganz zufrieden. Unser Zimmer hat unangenehm gerochen, das Bad war sehr veraltet und das Waschbecken sogar beschädigt. Zusätzlich waren die Betten unbequem und die Heizung funktionierte nicht, sodass wir nachts gefroren haben.

Auch die Parkplatzsituation war sehr unorganisiert. Die Fahrzeuge standen kreuz und quer, sodass wir obwohl eigentlich genug Platz vorhanden gewesen wäre keinen Stellplatz finden konnten. An der Rezeption wurde uns lediglich geraten, für einen Aufpreis von 22 Euro in der Tiefgarage zu parken oder einen öffentlichen Parkplatz in der nähe zu suchen, was jedoch unmöglich war. Letztendlich mussten wir etwa 850 Meter entfernt parken, bei –2 °C und Schnee. Das war sehr ärgerlich.

Als Verbesserungsvorschlag würde ich empfehlen, beim Einchecken das Autokennzeichen der Gäste zu erfassen. So könnte man in solchen Situationen den Fahrzeughalter kontaktieren und ihn bitten, ordentlicher zu parken, damit alle Gäste eine faire Chance auf einen Stellplatz haben.

Das Zimmer war schon stark verwohnt. Auch auf den Fluren viele Flecken auf den Teppichen. Zimmer mit Blick auf die Elbbrücken war extrem laut trotz geschlossener Fenster. Das Frühstück war von der Auswahl okay, aber die Qualität lässt zu Wünschen übrig.

Fint hotel med god beliggenhed. Lidt slidt, men til prisen var det ok.
Boede på 11 etage med byudsigt, som var rigtig fin. Dog meget larm fra gaden, hvis vinduet er åbent, men så kan man evt. benytte deres aircondition.
Parkering i parkeringskælder koster 22 euro pr. døgn, som vi benyttede os af. Der meget få gratis p-pladser foran hotellet, så kan anbefales at betale for parkeringen.
Så alt i alt en god oplevelse

Badeværelset var fint, men selve værelset var præg af slidtage. Gulvtæppet så beskidt ud og generelt var rummet lidt nusset at træde ind i.
Derudover var det ekstremt varmt, og selvom der var aircondition, kølede den kun meget minimalt. Personalet var super søde og imødekommende, så servicen fejlede ingenting.

Ziemlich abgelegenes und schlecht zu sehen, dass es ein Hotel ist.
Zimmer Könnten mal teilweise renoviert werden.
Wir wurden aber sehr höflich empfangen und der Check in war sehr einfach und unkompliziert.
Grundsätzlich kann man für 1-2 Tage für wenig Geld dort gut übernachten.

Das Hotel ist gut mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen. 10 Minuten zur U/S-Bahn, 7 Minuten zum Bus.

Der Ausblick aus unserem Zimmer im 16. Stock war ein Traum.

Frühstück reichhaltig und lecker.

Mitarbeiter überall sehr freundlich.

gutes Hotel auch gut gelegen. jetzt die Beschreibung wie man von der S-Bahn zum Hotel kommt auf der HP und ein Schild am Hotel das man von der S-Bahn aus sehen kann ,dann wäre es perfekt

Leider wurden wir nachts durch einen „Spassanruf“ um 2:45 Uhr geweckt, damit war die Schlafqualität und die Erholung dahin. Es ging weiter mit Geschrei und lauter Musik auf der Etage.
