The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the central railway station along the road that passes outside the main entrance.

My room was very spacious and overlooked a side street so was incredibly quiet for a location so close to the train station. The breakfast was well stocked and offered a good choice for all diets.

I would happily stay there again.

Good stay - hotel is very well situated between 2 Underground stops which get you directly into city centre, exhibition centre Messehalle and the airport!
My room was big and comfortable.
Only downside is that at breakfast two days running it felt that they did not replace the cooked food quick enough as I could not get my selection of scrambled eggs.

good hotel but unfortunately, not in the best area, the area is somewhat run down, closed business and it attracts shady people.. Excellent breakfast, with ;large choice of foods, attentive staff in the breakfast room and reception. Room was small but quiet. Overall a good hotel despite the location.

Avoid this location!

Hotel is good but location is not! A lot of homeless people and junkies doing drugs in the middle of the street. I was affraid of walking back to the hotel especially in the evening. I would have chosen a different hotel for sure if people would have been tell this in the reviews. Drugs were a well kept secret and I don t understand why!

Great hotel close to central station. Housekeeping staff were accommodating with our requests. Hotel is handy for Hamburg but the immediate area did feel a bit unsafe. Bed comfortable and clean room. Slightly outdated but overall nice presentation.

When I am in Hamburg, I enjoy staying at the Best Western Plus Hotel St. Raphael. It is a wonderful boutique style hotel in the City Center and walking distance to the Main Train Station and all the shops.

Comfortable and good location. .

Comfortable hotel near main train station. It is a bit noisy as sime of the trains run undergrounfmd quite close to the horel. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The only thing we found unhelpful was that there was a set of stairs that you had to carry your luggage up right after you came through the front door.

The hotel was super nice, the staff were great and breakfast was incredible. However, the surrounding area was as some others noted, uncomfortable. We noted some activity that was sketchy and a lot of clearly homeless and transient individuals. We made certain to be back at the hotel before dark. To be fair this is a major port town and this location is right near the port area and train station.

The St Raphael BW Hotel has a very nice interior and the room was very spacious with good storage cupboards and drawers. The room was very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom. Check in/out was easy. The hotel is situated a short walk to the bus, train, s-bahn and underground stations. There are many small shops int he vicinity of the hotel and bigger brands located beyond the train station, about 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. A lot of the sights/landmarks are within walking distance or accessible via public transport. There were some vibrations from the underground when on the ground floor, but this was not a problem. Traffic noise from the main road outside could be heard, but the windows did a very good job of cutting most of the noise out.

Not bad hotel but the area was not the greatest

The hotel itself was ok, although the room felt small (even by European minimalist standards). Staff was helpful, breakfast was decent and the overall condition and cleanliness was pretty good. Unfortunately, I really didn't like the location at all; I actually didn't feel safe in the area, especially at night. If I were to return to Hamburg I would choose a different hotel simply because of the location.

easy to reach from the train station - though the area immediately around the hotel isn't that charming, one can be in few minutes in the city. the rooms are tiny and some showers are in bathtubs, making it especially for older travelers hard to get in and out easily

The staff are very friendly, the restaurant is terrific for breakfast, and the room is clean. However, at night, it was really loud outside and I had a hard time sleeping every night from the noise coming from the street. I also found the area nearby kind of sketchy. Otherwise, the hotel is excellent!

Decent hotel, 7 minute walk to the train station and subway . Lot of good international food around it. Hotels in really good condition, seems like a really high-end hotel from the 70s. Decorated with a lot of brass and gold . very clean and relatively comfortable, as I always say on my reviews About European hotels, The rooms are a lot smaller than American hotels. So if you’re from the US be aware the rooms are quite small. But this is standard for European hotels. The check in and check out was very professional and easy. I would definitely stay here again .

Convenient as it was near to the Hauotbahnhif. However passing through the street going to it there was an atea with homeless people and we got chased by a drunk person one night, not a nice ezperience at all. Staff was nice and helpful , room spacious.

The hotel locate 5 min walk to the Bus Terminal and 7 min walk to the Train Station which is great for me. This area is very mix with Turkish,Indian,Greek,etc.. so you can get good Halal food with great price. I travel with kid and I feel safe in the area. Oh! Great breakfast too.

Issues with the rooms

We stayed at this hotel twice. Once before our cruise and then afterwards in Hamburg. The first night we were in a basic room which was very hot and if we open the windows it was very noisy so it wasn't very comfortable that way. Second time we got upgraded to a quieter room at which was more spacious too. However there was a smell of body odour which we couldn't get rid of in the room and although we asked at the desk for someone to come and spray the room with something deodorizing I don't think that took place because after we came back from our time out in Hamburg it still smelled as bad as before.the actual staff were very obliging and friendly and everything else was clean and nice.another small criticism is that they do not have a ramp for cases to go up the stairs and I had a heavy case and it was was a bit of a chore. The area around it was a bit seedy however it was convenient for the main station and and other underground stations.

We had a great room. Spacious, comfy and clean. We had a separate seating area and 2 TVs and plenty of room for our luggage.
We didn’t eat in the hotel as there were plenty of places nearby. The area surrounding the hotel is a little seedy but we had no issues. Another block away was an eating district. The train station is an easy 10min walk away. Very happy with this choice.

No complaints! Quick 5-10 min walk to major train station and bus station.

Neighborhood is where a 20-something friend lives, so it must be relatively cool, though I didn't spend much time there.

People might find it a bit dated, but I didn't mind.

Free sparkling water in the room at check-in and a little chocolate on the pillow are nice touches.

A gem by the central train station

I was there a week for a business trip. This hotel was a short 5 minute walk to the central train station which was an important factor in my selection. There are plenty of good restaurants around the train station area. And it is not far to walk to the lake and central shopping areas. The location was excellent. The hotel itself was very well appointed: nice bar to wind the day down in, and my room was space and clean. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want: loads of selection, and friendly staff.

Ideal location for exploring Hamburg on foot. We met there with our two grandchildren and their parents, so 3 rooms and 6 of us in all. Both grandchildren under 1. The staff were simply fantastic - cots in rooms, highchairs brought to the table without asking, babyfood heated...nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast at the hotel (buffet) is a reasonable price and excellent - huge choice and lots available. the restaurant in the hotel is excellent too. Not a huge choice but absolutely delicious. Rooms spotlessly clean (but old style).

This is a really comfortable hotel, very close to the train station and centre of Hamburg. Nice, helpful staff, big, airy rooms with recently upgraded TVs and showers, and a bit of a pampering feel to the place (fewer and fewer hotels do the chocolates-on-the-pillow thing these days - here, you get a different kind of sweet each day left for you!).

The hotel actually has a really charming, slightly old-fashioned and grand character, as if you're stepping back in time to a luxury hotel of the early 90s. Note that this is meant in the most affectionate sense! Quirky but lovely. The lift has to be seen to be believed - it's like a magic mirror show inside.

While it's situated on the edge of a slightly lively district, it's actually on a quiet main street and only five minutes from the station on foot.

I'd definitely stay here again - a very comfy stay.

Wir sind bereits am Vormittag um 10 Uhr mit dem Zug in Hamburg angekommen und konnten da direkt schon ins Zimmer. Das war echt super.
Das Zimmer war für 2 Nächte ausreichend groß und das Frühstück war richtig gut, mit allem was man sich wünscht.
Alle Mitarbeitern, egal ob bei check-in, beim Frühstück, die Etagenmitarbeier, beim check-out alle waren super freundlich. Wir kommen beim nächsten Hamburgbesuch sehr gerne wieder

Super lækkert og rent hotel, centralt beliggende i Hamborg. Fantastisk morgenmad. Sødt og serviceminded personale. Eneste minus er støj og vibrationer fra vej og tog, eller sporvogn, fandt aldrig rigtigt ud af det, da sengen var rigtig god og jeg faldt hurtigst i søvn.
