I simply loved my stay at the Hotel Fuerst Bismarck.It is very reasonably priced and the staff is very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was an additional 19 Euro per person but absolutely worth it. The hotel is located across from Hamburg Main Station in a safe and centrally located area. The Alster is only a short walk away as well as the fun district of St. Georg with lots of little bars, bistros and restaurants. If you want to visit Museum Ballinstadt - which you should! - you can get there easily from the Main Station by S-Bahn in 20 minutes.

This hotel is fine. It is very basic, but clean enough and comfortable enough. However, the photos are misleading. There are no pictures on the wall, flowers in the room, multiple seating options, trees outside (except possibly one room near the only tree). This is an adequate hotel if you need a very basic overnight place right near the Hamburg train station. But the area is busy, not particularly safe, and loud -- immediately across from main station. Breakfast is fine, not great but adequate. I am not sorry we stayed here given its price and convenience, but it is much more of an economy business choice than a tourism/vacation choice. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

This is a great location in the city because is near the train station (Hbf) where the S- & U-bahn, buses and taxis are plentiful. The staff were very helpful, the room was clean and nonsmoking. It is an older building and has an elevator, but there are often steps to negotiate on each floor.

My recent stay in Hamburg was unfortunately disappointing. Upon arrival, the reception lacked warmth and hospitality, which set a rather unwelcoming tone. The room was located in a separate building from the main hotel, requiring a long walk and multiple flights of stairs. We had to carry our own luggage without any assistance, which was inconvenient and exhausting.
The room itself had no air conditioning. Despite the cooler weather outside, the inside was uncomfortably hot. Only a small fan was provided, which did little to help. We opened the windows hoping for some relief, but instead were met with loud disturbances from outside—people shouting and using offensive language late into the night. We eventually had to shut the windows to get any rest.
Overall, the lack of comfort, poor service, and noisy environment made for a less-than-pleasant stay. I hope the hotel makes improvements in guest hospitality and basic amenities.

An overnight stop with a four night stop to follow. Great position. No stairs at entrance. Lift availability to room as well as stairs. Reception area was busy with people checking in but flowed well and the reception staff were friendly and helpful.

A noisy stay
Very noisy. The best thing to say about it is that it's directly opposite the central train station which is convenient, but is not noise proof. Constant hooting from the taxis outside day and night.
Screaming on the street can still be heard on the fifth floor at any time as if it was only single glazing. Did not have this problem with other hotels in the area.
More noise started early in the morning coming either from other rooms (shower?) or possibly the lift. I will not return, only in case of emergency.

I needed a hotel near the station, and this was fine for a one-night stay. The reception staff were friendly. The room itself had carpeting, which I don't think is the most hygienic. The carpet could have been vacuumed more thoroughly, especially near and under the bed.

I enjoyed my stay here, and I would definitely stay again. The hotel is a 2 min walk from Hamburg Hauptbahnof, giving easy access to the S bahn and U bahn trains. The hotel staff were great and all spoke good English. The area around the hotel has good bars and restaurants, the homeless people and beggars near the Hauptbahnof may put some people off; this is beyond the control of the hotel, and at no point did I feel unsafe.

They are limited by the architecture of the building so don’t expect your standardized hotel space but they have made excellent use, offering a great lounge area upstairs, left luggage, water refill, and even throw in transportation pass for several days. We enjoyed the hotel for its excellent location. The room was very comfortable once you finally got to it. It’s very convoluted getting from the entrance to any of the rooms. Bring breadcrumbs as you take an elevator or stairs and then follow the blue carpet three different directions till it takes you down a flight of stairs to walk through another room until you find the second elevator and then go up to your floor (which doesn’t correspond to your room number) quirky, but fine. The room and beds were quite comfortable. The bathroom was good, though no washcloths. The room was noisy but it ended up being mostly user error as we missed one of the open windows. It’s located right by the train station, so it’s excellently located for getting around town on the Ubahn or Sbahn. The breakfast seemed expensive for what you get, but it’s convenient. There are plenty of places nearby to get s fresh hot breakfast for half the cost. It’s all just a buffet with things sitting out. The hotel is close to two wonderful art museums and the theater district.
