We had a suite with a wonderful skyline view on the top floor of the hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and modern. Nice breakfast. Excellent location near the train station and walkable distance for most attractions of the city. Highly recommend booking a top floor suite at this hotel.

I was doing the Ironman in Hamburg. The hotel was super clean and the staff were amazing however its opposite a casino and the rooms facing the casino are very loud with music. So you have to have the window shut. And there is no aircon so super hot.

The hotel was ideally placed for exploring the city. The room was on the 6th floor and was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was included in the rate and the vegan food choices were good. The Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

Family trip to Hamburg. Hotel is in a great location. Free parking after 8pm in front of hotel on the boulevard street. Other than that a parking structure I was told was 15min away.

Easy and fast check in. Very well located. The room is very basic but has what is needed. 10 out of 10 for cleanliness with a very comfy bed and. Could have been better if it had air conditioning, specially during the heatwave now but, unfortunately, not even a fan I had in the room. Staff are all very polite and pleasant.

I stayed here from the 22nd to 25th August. I am currently learning German and the staff were excellent in helping me to develop & learn. The hotel provided excellent breakfast options, had transport for the U-Bahn down the road and was next door to a variety of excellent shops.
Fully recommend for anyone wanting a great stay in Hamburg. The only - point was no air conditioning in the rooms, hopefully this can be added in future, but not a major issue.

The management and staff bent over backwards to help out in a very stressful situation and were brilliant. The hotel is being refurbished and I was not in one of the newer rooms but at the back the hotel which backed onto several other rooms one which had a child that screamed from 6am until11pm no sleep could be had due to heat and noise. We were given a room number 500, which was not on the 5th floor, but on the 4th floor, then a very long walk through different corridors, ending up in a steep hugh staircase. We could not carry our luggage up so asked to change our room, which was arranged. Anyone getting room 500 should have a big reduction because of its location. Breakfast excellent,

Really enjoyed our stay and the reception staff were extremely helpful. My husband left his gold chain in a sauna robe, which we only discovered once we'd moved on. They've been very helpful in arranging for it to be posted on to us in Oz; cannot say how much that has been appreciated! The hotel is in a great spot to explore central Hamburg, make sure you visit The Cliff at the side of the outer lake - best pizza we had while away!

The hotel is very conveniently located, close to the Alster, the Stephansplatz U-Bahn stop (so easy access from/to the airport), and a 15 minute walk from the central station. Good sized, comfortable, well-equipped rooms and an excellent, varied buffet breakfast. The only drawback is the lack of air conditioning when it is very hot (the best solution seems to be to keep the curtains drawn during the day!). Staff are generally very helpful, but there was a mix up with my booking via expedia which the hotel mistakenly logged as two nights rather than three, which caused a few problems, but was eventually resolved. They possibly take more care with bookings made directly via the hotel website.

The Alster-Hof is ideally situated for central Hamburg. In fact, it's only a minute from the U-Bahn so an airport transfer is smooth and one-stop. I was able to check in early which was a lovely surprise. My single room on 5th floor was of a very good standard. The staff on Reception were very pleasant and helpful. Buffet breakfast was excellent and exceeded expectations. There was a great selection of fresh fruits, breads, jams, meats, cereals, bacon and eggs, cheese, juices. And the coffee was plentiful, as was hot milk. The staff in the breakfast room were very attentive and very pleasant. The location of the hotel is ideal, near a U station Stephanplatz, and within walking distance to the Rathaus. The Hamburg State Opera house is but a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend the Hotel Alster Hof for a city break.

I came to Hamburg for the opera and looked for accommodation near the 'Staatsoper' and found this reasonably priced gem ... a short, 5 -10 minute walk away. Check-in (and out) was seamless with very helpful staff. My 'single' room, to the back of the hotel, was larger than my experience of European 'single' rooms and 'quiet' (if you exclude folks who cannot close a door quietly) ... with a very comfortable bed, a large amount of storage in cupboards and drawers and a good, reasonably priced minibar but intermittent 'hot' water needs attention. I did not take breakfast because I overslept (body clock toppsy turvey !) Nevertheless, when I return to Hamburg, this is where I shall stay.

As there are no airconditioned rooms we were in a pretty uncomfortable position. When asked, Receptionist Martin was kind enough to get us a small table fan. This was a heavenly boon to alleviate the hot conditions, making our stay bearable in the heat.
