Overall really nice hotel! Great location for being near the water, and walkable from the train station. My bad that I didn't connect the dots on how loud it would be, since it's on the street and there's no air conditioning, so you need the windows open for fresh air. There also wasn't any soap in the shower.

Good stay for one, not much room for anything else. Nice to have the large counter next to the window to store stuff and the storage by the bed. Wish there was a kettle in the room. Interesting wallpaper but the bed was comfy and it worked for a 2 night stay.

I strongly do not recommend this hotel to other travellers for numerous reasons.

Lack of Privacy: Although check-out is at 11am, the hotel cleaners came into the room at 10:30am, while I was half-dressed in the bathroom. Then 5 minutes later, another cleaner came into the room unannounced. It is such a huge violation of personal privacy and highly disrespectful. Cleaners should wait until check-out time has passed before entering the rooms of guests.

Payment Issues: Additionally, upon check out, the credit card machine was broken. I attempted to use 2 different credit cards but an error arose on the screen before I was prompted for my PIN. The front desk staff insisted it was my problem rather than their machine. They insisted I go to the bank and pay them cash which would incur significant foreign transaction fees and would exceed my daily limit. Despite my requests, they would not check their machine with another small transaction. Finally, they figured out how to use their computer to charge my credit card rather than relying on the broken machine. They never apologized or admitted their machine was broken. I have never received such a great level of disrespect at any hotel premises before. Although the building is decent, the staff lacks common decency, consideration and manners.

Accessibility: There are a few steps outside the building and a few steps inside the building to get to reception which make it challenging when traveling with a stroller.

We paid for 3 standard rooms. 2 of our party had this, it seems one got upgraded presumably due to room availability. The staff member seemed very distracted checking us in and a smile wouldnt have hurt! They did not inform us other than 2 of our party were in one building, the other in main one at the top floor. The top floor room was their suite, but upon arrival a very strong smell of damp/dust hit you in the face. In places there was mould and wallpaper starting to peel away. I went to look out the window to see multiple i believe ladybirds sitting around the window! I counted 5. This had me worried about bed bugs, although none were found that i could see. Not ideal! The view was fantastic from the room which was perhaps the best part about it. The bed was comfortable as were the sheets. Having then shown this room to my friends, they were very upset as having paid the same price as me, they should have been at least told by reception the fact i had a different room with upgrade. Now to there normal single rooms, the bed was rock solid and a very small room, what they called a duvet didnt fit the bed properly. No pillows on arrival, had to get some! It did the job we wanted it to, a roof over our heads but there are hotels at very similar price points that would be far better! Only stay here if you have to, needs lots of work done to the property.

This is a charming old/classy hotel; spacious rooms with bright & warm ambiance. The carpet, some walls & furniture would need to be a bit refreshed...
Room & bathroom was clean; daily cleaning is only on request. The bed was comfortable; a queen/king bed is actually made of 2 twin beds next to each other.
Location was very good: across the lake and in walking distance to center.
CONs: room air is not circulated and it can get stuffy; the rooms facing the lake & street are very noisy (from traffic) when window is opened.
No shampoo, conditioner, body cream provided; just liquid soap.
Not available: kettle, minifridge, ice machine, coffee/tea station, english TV channel. One would need to ask reception for anything extra (hot water, coffee, etc.). Staff is professional & polite.

The one thing we found that was slightly off-putting was that the photos on-line are designed to make the hotel look new, modern and spacious, when in fact it's a beautifully restored older building with smaller bedrooms, tiny elevators, and lovely winding staircases. There's enough modern hotels go around. Please brag about this lovely unique hotel on the waterfront of the Aussen-Alster See.

The cleanliness was here was unfortunately subpar in the bedroom, even the glass near the bed was stained. Coupled with the deteriorating wall paper and hand stain on the mirror, it did not make a confident impression. I was only in and out for a night, I did not have breakfast here. The staff was accommodating and professional. I liked the easy access to beverages and snacks for purchase in the lobby.

A good bed is the most important and that was allright. However a very thin pillow was provided, and no additional one in the wardrobe. The shower was small, for me ok but my husband is a big guy, he could hardly move around. the soap provided was unpleasant, it made my hands feel very dry.
The room was quiet because it was at the courtyard, so that was good, we even could open the window during the night. But the overall location of the hotel is, thought at a beautiful spot at the Alster, very noisy. There is a lot of traffic there.
The staff was kind and helpful and made us feel welcome. So mixed feelings about this place.

I love the place for its location and authenticity. Some floors have a lingering smell that’s a little off putting, The plumbing can be tricky at times, in particular the shower water temperature. The staff is friendly, to the extent northern Germans can be at times. The breakfast buffet is extensive and affordable. The downstairs restaurant is charming. The Hotel is across the Alster, within 5 walking minutes of the Lange Reihe stores and restaurants, 20 mins from the central train station. We will be back!

Great Location, Convenient for Eating Out

Excellent location right on the Alster Lake, ideal for jogging or walking. Beware of wishing for a lake-view room as there’s a busy truck road between the hotel and the lake and the traffic is constant and noisy. Rooms facing the courtyard would be more preferable. The hotel is about 15 min walk from the main train station (Hbf), but only 100m away from a bus stop (St.Georg) served by the frequent buses, no. 6 & 17, connecting to Hbf and the city centre. Haven’t tried the hotel breakfast as the surrounding area is full of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, pubs, ice cream shops and supermarkets.

The hotel itself has lots of single rooms and I also stayed at one. They’re very reasonably priced, very compact, small but well designed with space well utilised. Service is efficient and friendly. Room is clean. All in all, a stay that exceeded my expectations, so highly recommend it, and would stay again for my next visit.

The location is convenient for central Hamburg—but the hotel itself is well in need of a refurbishment. Peeling paint, marks on walls, no air conditioning, the most uncomfortable pillow and a thick winter duvet for an end of May stay. The rooms facing the Alster lake also face a major road with traffic providing a high volume sound track well into the early morning hours. One can hear the traffic well through closed windows, but since air conditioning is completely absent, if you prefer fresh air the traffic noise becomes very, very loud.

The price was low, and even at that price point I would not have stayed for longer than a night.

This hotel would have been really good had it been cheaper, but it was over-priced for the condition it's in - i.e it's a little worn around the edges, I bought a single room, which was at the back of the hotel facing a dark street. Also it was really small, especially compared to new hotels such as the Premier Inn (which I had stayed in earlier that week).Ok but really overpriced. Location excellent, nice if you get a lake-view room I imagine!

I came here with 8 friends for a long weekend. We were all very pleased with everything in the hotel; the rooms were very comfortable and kept clean and tidy and all the service we received from the staff, especially on the front desk, was very friendly, efficient and helpful. As everyone says it is in a quiet area and it is a good long walk to the centre but we were very lucky with the weather and the stroll along the lakeshore is lovely.
Otherwise taxis can be ordered easily and are quite reasonable.
We go somewhere different every year but I would most certainly choose to stay here if I visit Hamburg again. It is a lovely city, quite by chance our only free weekend coincided with the port celebrations so we had plenty of time to enjoy these..

The room was very large and spacious. There was a French balcony door in both our living room as well as in the bathroom. Around the corner there were numerous great restaurants, a grocery store and a bus stop that took us directly to Miniature Wunderland via the central railwaystation. The relaxa Hotel Bellevue was a very nice, older hotel in a perfect location. We had a large room with a beautiful view overlooking the large lake across a busy road. The front desk staff member directed us to a cool street only two blocks away with many restaurants and bars, including several wine bars and a craft beer bar. It is a gay friendly area and we enjoyed the service, food and ambiance. It was also walking distance to the main train station which gave us access to all of Hamburg.

Located on the side of one of the lakes it is an ideal setting especially if you have a lake facing room. The number 6 bus on the road behind the hotel runs up from the Main station in just 5 minutes so you are not far from accessing the rest of hamburg and you will have no problem with cases. The staff are English speaking should you get into difficulty with your phrase book and are very helpful allowing us to leave our luggage whilst we explored the city. We paid the bit extra for one of the bigger rooms and enjoyed a massive bed separate wardrobe room and study and a large bath room. The room were well kept and there was even a heart shaped jelly sweet on our pillow which was nice. Only real criticism was that there was no free water or tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the free wifi was actually a T mobile Hotspot. Would defiantly stay here again if we were to visit hamburg

Nice, very friendly member of staff and central location in walking distance to the main station (about 15 minutes) and located in the St. Georg quarter with nice bars. Shops and restaurants and bus line links to station and other destinations. Reasonable low prices in in-house bars and for the mini bar in the room.

Ear plugs recommended in the front room as busy road is in front of the hotel but otherwise very good experience and a comfortable stay.

My room was so cold I struggled to sleep (and the duvet was very thin). The pillow was lumpy and the mattress was hard. Walls are very thin so you can hear everything going on. Reception staff were also unfriendly when I was checking in and out.

That said, it's a nice area and just a 10 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof (train station). The decor in my room was modern and stylish.

Great hotel, great value, not far from centre

We stayed here in December to visit the Christmas markets. The hotel is located opposite the lake, it's about a 15-20 minute stroll to the centre. The hotel is close to the St Gorg area which is a street full of lots of restaurants, bars and cafes and a good place to go out in the evenings.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We had a premium room which had two bathrooms which wasn't expected but great! The room was well prepared and clean. We didn't eat in the hotel as we could get breakfast from one of the numerous cafes on the way into the centre.
Overall a great place, good value for money and in a fairly good location. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Would have given this hotel a higher overall score but it is currently being refurbished and rather than start at the lower levels, the upper level rooms seem to have been finished first so you pass through a building site on your way up the stairs! And the rickety uneven staircase is a worry in itself! Those rooms that are refurbished are lovely tho, very comfortable and extremely cozy beds. Massive bathroom with double sink and super shower. Nice bar and restaurant in the basement with open fire but bar staff seemed to be rather more attentive to locals than visitors when we were there.

Location is on the larger lake and a bit out of the way, tho the interesting parts of Hamburg are quite spread out and this would be a lovely location to have as a base in Spring / Summer. Would recommend this hotel to others but will probably try somewhere else on our next stay in Hamburg.

Good hotel, bit far to town centre

Lovely hotel but long walk along main road to get into town centre (lots of roadworks made walking difficult too). As we were there for Christmas market it was a bit tiresome to do every day. Otherwise hotel good and nice breakfast with good coffee and friendly staff.

L’hôtel est dans un état de vétusté incroyable! moquettes et murs sales et abimés. Il a besoin d'un grand nettoyage et de rénovation générale.
2 verres sur une table mais pas de bouteille ni de mini-bar.
