The hotel is beautiful and it's right beside the lake, short walk to the small lake and the main shopping area. There's a street opposite the train station that feels a little unsettling but we soon discovered other routes to avoid it. Would definitely recommend this hotel as they seem to have thought of everything.

The Atlantic Hotel has a great location, right next to the Alta Alsta Lake. The room was very comfortable (superior, Lake view), with a large bathroom and very comfortable king bed. We had dinner in the Health and Grill and both the food and the view was excellent. Breakfast was superb, with a great choice , including the excellent Atlantic Omelette (with shrimp). We used the pool and spa and were overall very impressed with the facilities.
Staff at the Atlantic are helpful and attentive, adding to the overall experience. The inner courtyard and Atlantic bar are worth a visit, with a great atmosphere and cocktail collection. I would recommend taking the hop on/off tour bus (it stops right outside the hotel), if you want to see the major sites of the city. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Hamburg and of course, the Atlantic!

This was my first time to Hamburg, and the Hotel Atlantic made it the pinnacle of my trip. The hotel location is perfect making it easy walking distance in the core downtown area and famous Christmas markets. The hotel is exceptionally well appointed, elegant and charming. The staff are extremely polite and professional and everyone that I interacted with speaks fluent English. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looing for an upscale hotel with a tremendous amount of elegance and history.

Spotless but bad night's sleep

The room and bathroom was spotless!!! Lighting in the bedroom was dreadful even though it was renovated 2 years ago. The bed appalling , no support at all. Worst night's sleep and therefore unable to function work wise the following day. Lobby is very nice, so is the bar. 42 euro for breakfast and food charges rather high. Staff pleasant and check in was smooth

I made a 4 day reservation to splurge on myself. I regretted it. The mattress was super soft, which made sleeping on the side painful. The shower has two possibilities: Shower head from the ceiling, which would make my long hair wet. Or the handheld is in a loop in one position, which hits the lower half of my face. So, I had to take it out of that ring and hold it in my hand to shower. On the 3rd day they never cleaned my room. The room was quite small as well. I asked, if I could get out of my reservation, but they wouldn't let me. Really disappointed in what I got for such a price. I stayed in the Downtown Marriott before and that was better at a lower price

Superb and professional service! Friendly wait staff in the lobby bar. The hotel was gorgeous, impeccably maintained, and very comfortable.

If only they made more use of the piano in the lobby. It doubled the pleasure of an already great experience, but they only use it a couple of evenings a week. Das schadet.

Expensive, but the value is fully there. We will stay there again.

When is a 5 star hotel not a 5 star hotel? When they don’t have any restaurants open and the swimming pool is closed ‘for maintenance’ (if you believe that). After breakfast the only food they serve is simple and limited bar meals (burgers, sausages etc) in the bar. They operate the hotel like it is 2020. The staff do the best they can (and they discounted me the room service we had), but honestly, do yourself a favour and stay anywhere else until they decide to run a 5 star hotel again.

nice old school hotel in a perfect location, unfortunately as many others mentioned already the beds are rather on the very soft side, aircon wasnt working, blankets been rather hot too, so not a vey comfy sleep at all, no bathroom ameneties like tooth brush, very limited minibar without any snacks or chocolates.

Not safe, rude staff on a personal level.

One of the worst stays I have ever had. Seems like all the odds were against us. 5* hotels are chosen for service quality, comfort and safety. Seems like this hotel does not do any of those standards:
-our orders to a room had to be repeated multiple times and still came in wrong;
-bathroom amenities were not replenished;
-absolute miscommunication among the staff- we got back to hotel for a lunch and were told by reception staff they do not serve any food during the day, while the lounge bar 10 meters away has service for hot and cold food during the day. We had to eat our own snacks in the room and wait for a dinner time outside the hotel;
-Covid 19 guidelines are not followed- due to in room orders mistakes- staff was knocking at the door several times instead of just collecting all orders and deliver once. Some of the staff came without the mask;
-hotel offers open breakfast buffet and supposed to offer gloves to avoid multiple people touching same tools. Not in this hotel!;
-and the worst and dangerous experience- allergies. A guest was mislead about the food by one of the chefs which almost ended in calling up the ambulance due to possible sharp reaction. To add more- after we have asked chefs name, instead of calling a manager - he started stalking us and asking questions on a personal level which was very disturbing and felt like a threat.
It is hard to imagine this all happened at Kempinski and the whole trip was just destroyed.

Not very large room, but boasted big ensuite (with excellent shower) and bay window overlooking the nice courtyard. Good service. Very nice spa facilities. Excellent quality breakfast, and nice selection of restaurant and bar food. Cocktails were relatively disappointing though.

The doormen were nice but all other staff were extremely rude and condescending.

The room service was horrible the chicken caesar salad that I ordered came with extremely dry and smelly chicken that I assume was old.

The room was dated not that clean, there was a wasp and a few other bugs inside, when I informed the front desk about it they blamed me and told me I should not have opened the windows, which I haven't done.

The hotel refused to change my booking because I was less than ten minutes past the deadline. At check-in the reception rudely asked ask to come to the other side of the front desk as she seemed she didn't want to move herself, this is when we had a 8 hours drive and were extremely tired.

Fantastic hotel in central Hamburg

This was my second time staying at the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski and I loved it just as much as the first time. The service is excellent and I got an early check in which I really appreciated as I had a very early morning flight from London and just needed a rest. The room is very stylish and comfortable and was a real treat. The location is perfect for visiting the Christmas Market - so will definitely be back and can only highly recommend this place.

Overall good hotel but heating was not working at all and phone was off as well. Instead of transferring us immediately to another room they had a technician going through the roof of the room for 40 minutes while we were there and our dinner was waiting. Also, they didn’t offer to pay for our meal or breakfast as a gesture of acknowledgment

Just a short stay this time. Quiet room to the courtyard, nice heated floor in the bathroom, excellent shower.
Had a light dinner in the new bistro. Nice . Meal was excellent, menu ok.
Main restaurant was closed due renovation. I always liked the old one, so a bit apprehensive about what will come out. Bar has also been renovated. Main lobby hall is still a great favorite. I hope that is not on the renovation list!

The front desk rang me up after leaving and told me off, because we left after asking if a fast checkout was possible. There was a long cue to check out.
Their was also a cue for the breakfast, and a the buffet was half empty because of the rush.

A beautiful hotel of a bygone era. The location is good, easy walk to Hauptbahnhof and old town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Buffet breakfast is outstanding but pricey; get an inclusive rate if available. My only complaint is that the beds are quite low and too soft.
