Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The lack of plug sockets was a challenge for a family of 5 and all the devices we need to keep charged, but we managed ok.

You get what you pay for.
Pros: The rooms are clean for the most part and roomy enough for European standards. Breakfast is good. close to train station and easy access to transit. Staff is friendly. seems like a family run business, so don't expect formal service. Many good restaurants and cafes/bakeries close by. Cheap for what it offers in terms of amities compared to other similar hotels.
Cons: Carpet is old and needs cleaning, especially in the hallways and stairs. Located on busy street, can hear noise till like at 2-3 am. A few homeless, drug addicts it seems, and perhaps sex workers in front of the building. There is even a sex shop next door. Homeless people often use the entrance for shelter and other purposes. As sketchy as it may seem, the \"street\" people are not aggressive or anything, though some may try to make eye contact and even solicit, most of the time they mind their own business and won't bother passer by's or hotel patrons.

The staff, room and breakfast buffet were all great 5 stars. The problem is this is in a mostly migrant area. If your room is in front yes you get a nice balcony. The problem is noise. The street is loud 24/7 never quite. Africans and Arabs all night and day out talking, yelling and playing music.

Please dont book here. We arrive and area its located in isnt a nice area and its above a adult shop. Staff upon check in was rude. The room was okay to just put your head down if you can sirens are every few minutes and no breeze through window as you open it and wall is right there. The bathroom is very very small. Breakfast was nice and variety of options and staff then was nice and polite. But other than that not somewhere i would ever recommend.

Okay but probably for a short stay

We did just one night here and I'm not sure we would have lasted longer than that. Rooms were a bit hot but, due to the noise outside throughout the night, we couldn't really open windows. We were with little children and it appears the street the hotel is located on is not child-friendly (e.g. there's a sex store next to hotel entrance). The family room was spacious for five of us though!

We stayed for one night only but def the images shared for the hotel do not match real life. It looks like a completely different place. Its an older version of what you're seeing. We stayed there because of the closeness to the central station but would not be inclined to repeat our visit

Extremely hostile check in. Property aware of our late check in yet room rented out. Pictures advertised when originally opened. 1 toilet with shower to 9 rooms of double & triple occupancy. To enter property in the evening you have to go through drunks & prostituts & than wait to be let in (buzzer at the door). Breakfast was good and sheet with towels clean

Hamburg is a good hotel for a short stay, in a very good location. It is only 3 minutes walk from train and bus central stations and 10 minutes walk from shopping area. The room and all the areas of the hotel were clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast was very good.

Location of property is by Central Station, so it's close to train station. However, probably doesn't seem \"safe\" because there are a lot of people just lingering outside late into the night. Police is around so it's safe enough. The facility is clean enough. The bed is comfortable. The biggest downside for me is, the picture had me believe this place was like any other hotel, but instead, you do not have your own bathroom. Toilet and shower is communal; you have to share with the whole floor. Also had a cricket on my towel. Morning staff is nice.

I would use this convenient hotel again

Good, clean, quiet hotel, ideal for the central station. The breakfast was very good for the price. The carpets in the hotel are old, but the hotel was otherwise fine. It is in a very rough area with all kinds of less-than-legal activity going on in the streets surrounding it. Heads up if you are travelling alone.

The hotel was lovely and clean,staff were very welcoming.Rooms are basic but clean.Noise from outside,we had to open windows as it was hot.Breakfast was very nice, continental, fresh bread,meat, cheese, eggs,fruit, yoghurt, cereals,coffee and tea.
The only thing I would say negative was outside the hotel.The noise,homeless people,drug addicts,ladies of the night.It was a very busy area day and night.
10min walk up the road it was totally different.Dont let it put you off.Hotel was brilliant could do with a bigger lift ha ha

Hotel is basic but clean and staff are friendly and helpful.Breakfast was good the small restaurant does get busy and is only open for breakfast. Nothing to do with the hotel at all but the area around the accommodation is rough. Lots of prosititutes and beggars which was not a major concern but the open drug users and number of alcoholics is unbelievable. It is not somewhere i would take children, there were things going on that as an adult i should not have been privvy too. 300m down the road in any direction and the culture changes for the better. Being honest i would not stay here again purely based on the area and activities outside the hotel, which is a shame because i have no faults with the hotel itself.

Good hotel while the circumstance is not good

It is true that the circumstance around this hotel is not good as many users commented.

But as I lived in Hamburg before, I fully know the circumstance and am never concerned with this.
I think this hotel is good because of free breakfast and no cancelling fee.

But the breakfast is not bad but not good. I got tired of it at the third morning.
And it was very hot in the room in July because of no air conditioner.

Only good point is easily walkable from Bahnhof Sud. Steindamm is busy, noisy, atmospheric but at night changes almost Zombie like into a nether world of drug addicts, beggars and prostitutes. Not for a female solo traveller. Rooms are unchanged from the 1970s, old room keys, dirty carpets but pleasant staff and a limited price inclusive buffet breakfast. Poor VFM in my opinion in a major city with many competitive cost effective hotels.

Comfortable Hotel

Our stay was very comfortable and the room was clean and functional.
The room was a bit dark due to where it was situated but as it was February and was a place to sleep and not to stay in during the day it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was great with a lot of choice and endless coffee. Thank you for accommodating us on our first stay in Hamburg.

Price quality is average. Location to main train station is convenient however after dark the street is scary and full of junkies/homeless, it looks like walking in the Ghetto. The hotel itsself is very outdates and does not look like the photos. Bathroom and bedlinnen were clean, breakfast was good and staff very friendly, which somewhat justifies the price.

Not a good area for a first trip to Hamburg!

The hotel is convenient to access the central train station but the area is not pleasant. Also note the basic rooms do not have a private bathroom... which I haven't realized when I booked.

First and foremost: the staff deserves 5/5. Everybody was very helpful and friendly at all times. Breakfast was great - maybe think about non-dairy alternatives for coffee to better serve allergies as there are no fridges in rooms to keep your own milk. The room was small and not made for two people to stay. One person had to crawl in via the bottom of the bed. This is not convenient for a 4-night-stay (we booked a Standard room). This better not be standard. We needed the one plug at the bed for a medical device during the night, therefore we didn‘t have a night lamp anymore. There were only 3 sockets total in the room (already counting the TV one) and the one in the bathroom was not usable because the water hit it when it was in use. While my parents‘ bathroom showed signs of mold ours was newly renovated. The shower curtain (curtains in hotels are disgusting anyways and I didn‘t want to ask if they get swapped between guests because I didn‘t want to know the answer. It looked yellowish at the bottom) was not covering the edges and barely the bottom. Therefore, after showering the bathroom floor was flooded. The corners of the newly renovated bathrooms already showed signs of mold. Such a shame!! Please invest in a better and more sustainable way when investing! The location is conveniently close to the Central Station but the street is VERY scary. Walking to the hotel after a show / theater at night was scary. Overall, not good value for money except for breakfast & staff.

The area is less sleazy than it was, but for the price I paid it was fine. Clean, slightly worn, nice staff. Slept fine . Good breakfast only thing missing is hot chocolate. The only thing that made me feel slightly unsafe was as a single female traveler was the gangs of men roaming the street, and some have ‘issues’ but I work with
worse and you see plenty of police.

The hotel is on a busy street in a very ethnic neighborhood a 10-15 min. walk from the train station (if you find the exit from the station!). It's in an old building with a lift (but there are about 10 steps up to the lift). Our room was very small, was difficult to walk around the bed if someone was at the desk. The bathroom also very small and the shower curtain would stick to your body while taking a shower.....was a challenge. The breakfast area was clean and well attended to with the usual European offerings (cold cereal, yogurt, bread, nice selection of cold meats/cheeses and hard cooked and scrambled eggs). The staff was all pleasant and helpful. This hotel is next to \"the World of Sex\". We always felt very safe in the hotel, but walking at night from the train station was sometimes a bit creepy.

No A/C. In the August heat, the room was very warm. Only remedy was to open the window. That, however, made you feel like being on the very noisy street - all night long. Not a pleasure. Otherwise, the hotel was fine, breakfast was good. No parking at the hotel. Many restaurants and fruit markets nearby.

It's a great stay close to the train station in a vibrant multi-culti street. The only advice I'd like to give the hotel is to train staff a bit better. Because of staff I did not have a anti-allergic pillow for 2 of my 3 nights. Staff at breakfast did not use gloves and did not tell guests to use gloves while using the buffet.
The breakfast was great though. :)

We also got corona-friendly breakfast. The water was a bit unpredictable hot-and-cold. Really nice location for seeing a lot of art and just five minutes away from the train station.

Ok for young traveller's, not for kids.

We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but chose to leave the night before check out. It's an OK hotel if you don't mind the interior being severely used and run down. The carpet smelled muskey due to the lack of ventilation and drainage in the bathroom. The location is perfect for young couples who is going to Hamburg for a weekend trip, since it's so close to the center. There are plenty of restaurants and Middle Eastern grocery stores, which we loved, however the surrounding is not family friendly. Had it just been my husband and I, the place would have been OK. The internet is very slow and the doors inside are not fire proof as legally required by law in Denmark. The walls were stained with all kinds of stuff and the curtain was dirty, where you could see ashes and dirt on the white see through curtain. The bed was hard and the TV channels were very limited for internationals. I'm a traveler and I've seen my fair share of hotels. This one is ok, if you are single or a couple of a group of young friends traveling together. But this is not a family friendly hotel by any means.

Nice hotel in central area. Above a sex shop but that did not bother us, better than a noisy bar. Nice square around the corner to the left of the hotel. Did not see any drug dealing as some posts said. 4 women in group, no one felt uneasy or unsafe. Typical central city street. Rooms very clean, shower was a little bit too small. Beds comfy, breakfast nice, although they did not serve gluten free bread.

The hotel is an economic option to stay in Hamburg inner town, it is a short walk to the railway station. The building is a bit oldish. The single economy room looked at a relatively silent sidestreet. The bathroom is private, but it is really very small, the shower is extreme tight. Hot breakfast is a good start for the day.

A little outdated but clean. Newer bathroom. I should have better checked the neighbourhood because the photo of the hotel is photo shopped (ground floor store is an erotic shop called World of sex). The neighbourhood was a bit noisy and could feel insecure or uncomfortable for families with younger children.

5 minutes walk from the Hamburg HBF makes this hotel very convenient. The area on this street could be viewed as a bit seedy, but felt quite comfortable. There are many markets/grocery shops/halal food shops open around here. Close by around the corner is a nice square with a number of café/bars and outside tables. Our standard double room was quite spacious and bathroom was good. Furnishing is a little tired but still quite ok and well maintained. Front reception staff all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast room very good. Enjoyed our stay.

Utrolig dårlig skiltet hotel, med en beliggenhed i et område fyldt med invandrere og utrygge mennesker.
Hotellet var utrolig slidt. Værelserne var ringe udstyret. Dørene låses med alm nøgler og kan ikke aflåses yderligere indefra. Badeværelset var fra efter krigens tid, og sengene var som et bræt at ligge på.
Morgenmaden tilbyder under minimum hvad almindelige hoteller tilbyder og intet var skiltet. Du går derfra skuffet og langt fra mæt.
Personalet virkede lettere ligeglad og havde bare travlt med at få dig videre, så de kunne fortsætte i deres egen verden.

Rengøringspersonalet var venligt. Men jeg oplevede at personalet ellers virkede lettere irriteret. Jeg spurgte gentagne gange om hjælp til at få fikset pengeskabet/værdiboksen. Bra och rent hotell för det pris man betalar. Dock är omgivningarna lite nedgångna men hotellet som sådant över förväntan. Plus att frukost ingick!

Det var et hotel der var så uindbydende og i et virkeligt utrygt område at vi valgte at finde et andet hotel efter at have set vores værelse. Ingen stole intet lys og meget lydt.
Receptionisten sagde hverken goddag eller velkommen med sad og festede med sine private ting bag disken.
