A very convenient small clean guesthouse right in the center, very close to the train station. Despite this, it is on a quiet and safe street, with all the infrastructure nearby, from cafes to a large supermarket.

There is no one working at this hotel, there was no one when i arrived and no one when i left in the morning. When you arrive you need to call a local phone number, the issue is when you have an e-sim (data only) you can't make local calls, i had to chat online with hotels.com and have them contact the hotel as i waited in my car. Never understood the parking instructions so i left it in the street.

Comfortable and spacious room really close to the station, nearny St Georg where there are loads of lovely restaurants and cafes. 15 min walk from the Rathaus so loads to see on the doorstep. The hotel was clean but we didn't see any staff whilst we were there, so had the same issue as others with check in, but fortunately we didn't have to wait too long for an answer on the phone when we called to check in at the door. We'd have preferred to see someone at reception simply because we had a broken light bulb that never got fixed, though we did send a few emails. Overall, good value for money but do be prepared for a little momentary anxiousness on arrival when no one answers the doorbell

There is no registration person on-site, you must call a number to retrieve acode to access your key. The room was up 2 flights, with no elevator. The room was spacious, but the issue was the black moldgrowi g in the bathroom. It wasin numerous places on the walls and that was certainly a concern. We stayed 1 night then departed, agai , no one at registration.

Cheap for a reason

Fine if all you need is a cheap bed. Handy location for the Hauptbahnhof and city centre, but the bare minimum. No reception staff - you have to call a number to get a code for the lockbox at the door. Good luck with the dial code dialling from a non-German phone (+39 and leave out the first 0). Stairs only, no lift. No kettle/breakfast. Don't think I'll go back

The whole time we were there we never saw anyone, except the cleaning lady on the last day while we were leaving… when we checked in we had to talk ti someone in the intercom, that told us the combination to a key box that had our hotel entrance key and room key. It was a self-service hotel? Other than that the room was nice, clean, comfortable, but it was just strange to never see any employees…

Disappointing

It is very close to Hauptbahnhof, however a bit old and outdated, does not qualify to be rated 3 star or even 2 star. There is no elevator, carpets are stained and loose, bathroom has dirty caulking that is peeling off.
And Wi-Fi is unsecured and compromised, my iPhone warned that there may be a monitoring and recording device on network, impersonating websites and stealing data. I couldn’t access internet.

This is a stereotypical cheap hotel. Tacky decor, a funky smell, flat pillows, and cheap shampoo. The night staff did not speak English. I could hear conversations happening in the lobby through my room door. However, on the positive side, the location was super close to the train station, I felt safe in the location, and a kind morning staff man helped me get my bag down the stairs. Overall, it's an OK place to stay and a good deal considering the location.

The hotel is 5 mins walk from the the central station. My single room (9), top floor was without a lift, and was quite small and the hotel in general could do with a refurbishment. The bathroom towels were a bit tatty, although clean and fresh, the shower was good and worked well, compared to other hotels in the area. The room was noisy early morning due to busy traffic from the road and I could smell the traffic fumes which is a concern. Limited choice of breakfast; very nice coffee and the staff were extremely polite and welcoming. I would stay there again.

Nice stay in Hamburg

I liked my stay there (overall) - for the price they offer.
However, if you are after a good (or hot) breakfast - you will need to find something else.
This hotel is better than some other cheap hotels in the center area, as it is located on a quiet street (no gangs, prostitutes, drinkers).
The lake and main station are a few min away and there is a direct train to the airport (make sure you are in 3 front carriages).

The walls are thin - so it will be hard to sleep if someone is speaking in the next room.

I liked that the water was hot and the water pressure was perfect. (suggest to bring your own conditioner)

You must give a key to a receptionist every time you leave the hotel (that's strange - but this is a rule).

WiFi was quite fast (on the third floor).

Wi-fi in room excellent, best we've ever experienced! Old hotel and room stifling hot with no aircon (had a stand-up fan that didn't really make a difference)

The kocation was good.
The room was very small for 3 adults.
The lack of aircondition made our stay hot and sweaty. the ventilator that was supllied, did not improved the situation.
Some of the desk clerks do not speak English.
we asked for a delay checkout for the charge of 35 euros, but the clerck demanded that we checkout before the time because the room was promissed to other guests.

Great little hotel Hamburg Central Train station

Great small hotel on a great clean street Holzdamn near the Atlantic Hotel and
a block and half from Hamburg Central train Station. Quiet street away from Hamburgs rougher side, a few blocks away with the sex parlours, addicts and drunks lying in the squares. Hotel is only 22 room, with half dozen with private toilets. Bed was good and free breakfast adequate in a nice eating area. Only difficulty may be the stairwell. It is wide but best rooms are on 5th and sixth floors. Staff are very responsive, speak several languages including good English. Very personable front desk.
Bonus is a good Theatre a block away towards Central Stn.

Good for a conveniently located budget stay

Location is great - just a few minutes from the main Central station. The hotel is clean and functional; very by-the-book (check in at 2pm no matter what) and breakfast is perfectly adequate. Rooms are nothing special but have clean and comfortable beds. It was freezing in Hamburg so I appreciated the ability to control the heat in my room. Good for a budget stay!

Excellent location and an easy walk to lake, station, underground and main shopping area. Staff were excellent and could not do enough. Rooms a little dated but clean. Pillows could be renewed as they were very soft. Breakfast adequate but basic. Only hot food was boiled eggs and the salad to go with the meat and cheese was limited. However, if you wish to spend a fortune on a hotel that you will not spend much time in go ahead. This hotel is reasonable for the price so give it a try.

We had a one night stay and the help at the front desk was exceptional. He took the time to explain the train system which was very close. They also took a lot of time helping us get checked in for our flights. He spoke great English and the rooms were clean and quiet.

Location is superb, just a few minutes walk from the central station.
Our triple room had comfy beds and a very nice hot shower so no complaints there.

Came to Hamburg to visit family. Steen's was very close to main train station.
Hotel was quaint and clean, good breakfast included.
Rooms are small compared to regular U.S. Hotels and it is a \"walk-up\", so as long as you realize that beforehand all will be good! Staff was very friendly and helpful, good wifi service in room.

Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Small independent hotel on a nice quiet street. Within short walking distance of the railway station and city centre. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast basic but quite adequate. Room was reasonable size for the price and comfortable. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

Convenient, clean and well-connected hotel

Friendly helpful staff, comfortable clean room. We knew there was no lift, so we didn't mind heaving our cases upstairs. The place is only five minutes walk from the main railway station, a short walk from the centre of Hamburg, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby.

It was a nice hotel close to Hamburg hbf. The breakfast was better than expected. Rooms were very clean. Our only issue was we were located on the third floor with no elevator. If you had heavy bags it could be a problem. Overall we thought it a great value. The beds were very comfortable!

Das einzige was für dieses Hotel spricht, ist die Lage. Aber Achtung, 3. Stock mit über 60 Stufen ohne Aufzug. Heizung funktioniert kaum, vielleicht war sie deshalb direkt ausgeschaltet, die Fernbedienung des Fernsehers ging nicht und es war nicht sauber. Die Handtücher hatten fremde Haare an sich, das Bettzeug war fleckig, vom Boden fangen wir gar nicht erst an. Ich hatte nicht viel erwartet, aber bei dem Preis zumindest Sauberkeit und nicht den Staub der letzten Jahre am Heizkörper oder Spinnweben im Bad.

Vi kom til hotellet men om aften da vi skulle tænde lyset var der kun to lamper og den ene lampe virkede ikke vi sagde det da vi så en i foyen og han lovede det ville blive fikset til dagen efter men desværre virkede den hellere ikke der hva jeg vil mene er virkelig dårlig stil når man gerne vil læse om aften og har betalt for et værelse desuden var der så lydt at man kunne høre alt hva danskerne i værelset snakkede om og det så ikke er fuldt i orden ville aldrig anbefale dette hotel til nogle

Der checkin war eine katastrophe, erst ab 1300 uhr, keiner wußte bescheid, telefonisch wurde abgeklärt, dass zimmer reserviert war und die nur polnisch sprechende putzfrau hat dann den schlüssel übergeben. Zimmer soweit ok, alles uralt aber funktionell. Leider konnteman das zimmer nicht zusperren.

Vi fik et værelse i en kælder uden lys, toilet, bad eller dækning. Bygningen var låst, og man skulle have udleveret nøglen af en rengøringsassistent der ikke kunne et ord engelsk eller tysk. Alt i alt en super dårlig oplevelse.

Der var intet personale til stede under hele opholdet. Det virker slet ikke særlig imødekommende, og er meget forvirrende, især for gæster der først ankommer sent om aftenen.
Derudover er der forfærdelige lydisolering, så man kunne høre alt inde fra naboværelserne.

Leistung - Preis ist gut.
Die Lage ist perfekt! Es ist 2 Blocks vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt und man kann viele Orte zu Fuß erreichen.
Mein Zimmer war in Ordnung, die Dusche ist sehr klein, aber für die 4 Tage, die ich blieb, war das kein großes Problem.
Houskeeping kommt jeden Tag, um den Müll aus dem Zimmer zu werfen, sie macht das Bett aber nicht (aber das ist etwas, das mir nicht so wichtig war.) Alles in allem ist der Preis-Service für mich gut.
WICHTIG: Es ist nicht immer jemand an der Rezeption.
Als ich ankam, war niemand da, aber die Tür zeigte 3 Telefonnummern an, die ich anrufen sollte. Ich tat es und sie gaben mir alle Informationen, um in mein Zimmer zu bekommen.

Bis auf die Lage hat in diesem Hotel nichts gestimmt, auch wenn der Herr an der Rezeption nett war. Kaputte Lampen fehlende Birnen dazu, kein Schrank, kaputte Fenster die sich nicht schließen ließen, niemand den man fragen konnte, Blick auf einen Hinterhofschrottplatz.
Wir würden nicht mehr dieses Hotel buchen.

A ne pas louer

Nous sommes arrivés le jeudi soir a 20h. L accueil était fermé. Les clés sont a disposition dans une boîte à clé. Personne ne nous a prévenu du code. Il a fallu téléphoner pour avoir celui ci.
L hôtel était en travaux. Des lits et des matelas dans les couloirs.
Pas d'ascenseur pour monter les valises.
Personne non plus le lendemain matin à la réception.
Et surtout personne pour redonner les clés le dernier jour.
Nous avons eu affaire a une réception d'hôtel fantôme. Par contre merci les bruits d enfants qui courent dans les étages supérieurs, les ouvriers qui viennent à partir de 8h et qui ne se privent pas de faire du bruit, l absence de volet,l eau chaude qui arrivent au bout de 10 min, le lit rafistolé au mieux, l absence de prise et d antenne pour la télévision.
Bref un hôtel que je ne vous recommande pas du tout.

Prima verblijf gehad. Inchecken ging prima, heel vriendelijk geholpen, daarna niemand meer gezien bij de receptie, Locatie is top, hotel is netjes, verwacht geen luxe maar daar is de prijs ook naar. Kamer wordt dagelijks schoongemaakt. Klein nadeel, de wasbak in de badkamer is nogal klein en laag en de plank erboven groot, hierdoor vrijwel onmogelijk om je wat op te frissen. Lampje boven het bed was stuk, proberen uit te leggen aan de schoonmaakster maar die sprak alleen Oekraïens en ze snapte niet wat ik bedoelde ook niet na het laten zien van het niet functioneren van de lamp. Het zou prettig zijn als de receptie bemand zou zijn zodat je met klachten bij iemand terecht kan. Als je een goede centrale slaapplek zoekt in Hamburg met ruime kamers, goede douche en verder geen opsmuk dan kan ik dit hotel zeker aanbevelen

Das Hotel ist definitiv in die Jahre gekommen aber nur zum übernachten reicht es völlig aus. Der Bahnhof ist in wenigen Minuten erreichen. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Mein grauenvollstes Erlebnis bzgl. Hotels

Als ich gegen 17 Uhr im Hotel ankam, teilte man mir mit, mein Zimmer habe einen Wasserschaden, und ansonsten seien sie ausgebucht, es gäbe aber ein Schwesterhotel, was sogar noch besser sei und sie würden mich auf ihre Kosten dorthin fahren. Da ich eine Unterkunft brauchte, ließ ich mich zunächst darauf ein. Das Taxi brachte mich in ein Industriegebiet ohne touristische Infrastruktur wie Restaurants, öffentlichen Nahverkehr. Der Höhepunkt war das angebotene Zimmer, winzig und ohne eigenes Bad und WC wie von mir gebucht. Ich verlangte die sofortige Rückfahrt zum Steens Hotel und siehe da plötzlich gab es ein Zimmer, angeblich hätte jemand storniert. Durch dieses Theater verlor ich eine Stunde Zeit und kam mit Verspätung zu meiner Veranstaltung, weswegen ich nach Hamburg kam.

I was moved to another hotel, because of water leakage at the Steens Hotel. The new hotel was Hotell City inn, at Hammer deich. This hotel was missing breakfast possibilities, the room was almos at the parkin lot. missing toilett and shower at the room. Missing chair. Missing light for bedside reading. Missing TV. The room was marked \"Crew changing room\".
The toilett/shower down the corridor: The sink was blocked. And the hotell was placed without any communication to the centre of Hamburg.

Hotellet stand er slidt. (august 2024) Et vandrør dryppede og der måttes en spand under, når man børster tænder fx. Sengen var ok. bad fungerede. Gode rene senge/ håndklæder. Hotel ligger vældig godt. Det er 7 min fra hovedbanen. Ligger i mere rolig gade. Stille nat.

And also we didnot have cel signal in germany or internet, IT WAS TERRIBLE

4 Min zu Fuss vom Hbf., trotzdem ist es ruhig , so dass kann man nachts die Fenster offen lassen kann. Tolles Frühstück um die Ecke im Bäckereicafé, Alster zum Joggen 5min....tolle Lage. Sauber, einfach, ruhig.

Hervorrangendes Preisleistungs Verhältnis. Einfaches Hotel in sehr zentraler Lage, direkt am Hauptbahnhof, dennoch nachts ruhig. Die Einrichtung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Rummet var ok och läget är bra.
Obemannat på kvällar och nätter.
Jag försökt att kontakta hotellet efter våran vistelse, eftersom jag glömde körkortet på rummet. men ingen svarar på ett flertal mejl! Riktigt dåligt och det sänker betyget.
Dagens tips glöm inget på rummet när ni checkar ut!

extremely central hotel in quiet street.good value

I got a bad start by checkin at 3 pm, hoteldoor was closed and dark inside. I called a couple of numbers that were listed in the door, got answer and help with the second one. A woman came and locked me in, gave me the Key to the front door and room no 9 in fourth floor. understood hardly any english or Herman. But - From then everything was perfect to me. I will not comment the carpets though :-) Room with ok size, good bed, tv, Window to open, big fan/cooler that I did not try, clean bathroom, shower with warm water. everything functioned, and for the price I paid extremely good value. 5 minutes to Hamburg hbf in quiet street (if the neighbour across the street do not start to trim the hedge early in the morningen..) Recomnend it for guests not allergic to stained carpets

Det mesta okej, men nåt slags läckage kring nedre foten av toalettstolen, tror att det var vanligt vatten, men ibland kom så mkt vatte att man fick hålla undan fötterna för att inte bli blöt om strumporna!

Hotel im 80er Jahre chic. Rezeption war besetzt, mit einem nicht deutsch sprechenden Herren. Es wurde jmd angerufen der dt. konnte. Sehr komisch.
Teppiche auf der Treppe sehr dreckig.
Mein Zimmer, oberflächlich o.k. Teppich hätte gesaugt werden können, Tapeten lösen sich. Bettrahmen 100 cm, Matratze 90 cm. Für mich sehr weich/ durchgelegen(?).
Fernbedienung vom TV mit irgendwas ekligen verklebt.
Zimmer hat seine Funktion erfüllt, schön ist aber anders.
Sonst recht ruhig obwohl Nähe zum Hbf.
