The hotel is very comfortable, conveniently located within short 10 min walk of the U Bahn, and in a upscale walkable safe neighborhood. Service is very good. It was very busy when we visited in October, we had to wait to be seated at breakfast. They suggest „less crowded“ times, but seemed to be the same regardless. Exercise room has dumbbells, weight machine, elliptical and treadmill. All in excellent condition, but also popular. Overall, it’s a very good choice, just be prepared for the crowds. We would stay there again.

We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel and were very impressed with its cleanliness and general condition. The King size room with a lake view was ideal for our stay. Sufficient space and amenities within the room. The hotels great location is very convenient for exploring Hamburg within walking distance to the central station and also close to bus and MRT stops. The nearby lake is great for walking or cycling around. We didn't eat within the hotel as there are many good options nearby and also a well stocked supermarket

A brilliant base from which to explore Hamburg, with shops and places to eat 10 minutes away. I ordered room service breakfast and had a breakfast in the restaurant. There was a choice to meet with all dietary requirements. The room was spacious and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was clean and tidy, although the ceiling tiles needed replacing as they were discoloured. You had to be patient whilst waiting for a lift, there are three of them, but one was out of commission. The option of getting to the foyer by stairs wasn’t possible. The stairs led outside in case of fire.
I would stay again because of its position.

This is an excellent hotel. The location is brilliant with only a 7 minute walk to the nearest U-Bahn - U3 line which takes you to most places in the city centre. The rooms were very very clean as was the hotel. The breakfast was great with a huge selection of food and drink. The bar area is lovely too. All the staff at the hotel are so helpful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Absolutely excellent.

Hotel with a wrong perception projected in expedia

Nice hotel mainly for business people. But the lo ation shown in the website was deceiving. We oaid extra for Altser Lake view but you can only view part of the Lake at a distance. City center is at a distance and not easy for regular walking.I was surprised to find that in the breakfast room there is a long que as they look for names but not the room number of the guest. Breakfast choice is also very limited. This is not a typical Crown Plaza we stau around the world.

Nice property. Just a short distance from town center. Good restaurant (Sagner's) a block away. Plus one is the hotel with friendly staff. Didn't try the hotel's food. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean room with eager cleaning staff. I always tip the cleaning staff something. They're crucial. Small and friendly and english speaker friendly corner store down the block for essentials. Would absolutely recommend and stay again if I return. Only deficiency i found was no ATM. Coming from the US where they're everywhere, they're harder to find in Germany/ Hamburg. Not a deal breaker.

Hotel excellent, avoid the bar!

Hotel itself, the room and hotel staff were fantastic, high standard of finish on the room, it was spacious and comfortable. Nice toiletries provided, iron in the room and a tv. It is in a nice quiet area, walking distance of the metro line (or city centre depending on how much you like to walk, around 20 mins along the river), very convenient and we felt safe walking to and from the metro at night.
The only issue was the amount of noise, you can hear everything next door, upstairs and sirens on the street, there's obviously work ongoing so drilling noises etc. in the mornings. Also the bar staff were extremely rude, bar overpriced and take a nice service charge without providing any level of service whatsoever, it really lets the rest of the hotel (and staff) down. We used the bar on the first night and the bad experience tainted our overall opinion of the hotel really, we did not attend the bar any other night.

Overall a very good hotel for the price and location, would stay again just next time avoiding the bar!

A short break to catch up with an old friend

I splashed out on staying here as it is the same road as my friend's home. The room I was allocated was fabulous but I had to ask for another as, following hip surgery, I would be unable to climb into the bath to take a shower.
I didn't think that the new room ( found the next day) was as good as it was more business-like in its decor. I had no full-length mirror or drawers to put clothes in so I was living out of my suitcase. Alhough there was a nice writing desk it would be impossible to use without lighting- there wasn't even a socket nearby.
I was found some alternative shower gel as I can't stand lemon verbena by Occitane. The bathroom facilities were excellent.
The reception staff, working under difficult circumstances because of renovation work, were always polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was superb offering a wide range of options.
There was an ironing board and iron available in the room and USB sockets for recharging. The beds were very comfortable. The tea/coffee making facilities were much appreciated. The rhubarb flavoured soft drink in the fridge was delicious.

Location of property is good, close to the nicely developing St. George neighborhood and the outer Alster of course. It does require a bit of a walk to the city center. Only a bus stop close by, not on any S or U Bahn line. The never-ending remodel of the property gets on your nerves and makes your check-in process cumbersome. Older, tired-looking rooms that are very, very small, do not make up for the overall friendliness of the staff.

Was disappointed. Staff not very helpful. Not much to offer except the bed? Did not feel like staying a nice hotel specially a brand name like Crown Plaza.

Rooms were very small & basic. However, Crown Plaza at Hannover was simply amazing. Rooms were large & spacious & staff very friendly while location was great. Loved this Crown Plaza & will return there but not to Crown Plaza at Hamburg? 😔

Situated opposite Alster Lake but room is tiny. Hardly any space in room with luggage. Small functional gym to serve basic gym needs. Only saving grace is their breakfast spread.

The hotel and our room was very clean and well laid out. The front desk clerk was very pleasant. It is a typical Crowne Plaza. If you want something more European, look elsewhere, but for us, it was perfect. Fairly close to the train station - about an 8 minute walk. They also had apples out for us...really appreciate that!

Gute Brotauswahl aber kein Lachs bei 4 **** ?

Nett präsentiert. Aber eher die Auswahl eines 3*** Hotels. Süße Sachen waren ok.
Die vegane Auswahl war sehr gering bis nicht existent.
(Ein Aufstrich).

Müsliauswahl gut.

Waffeln muß ich selber machen.
Das Schild: Für unsere Asiatischen Gäste war witzig: Es gab Reis, trocken + ein paar Kräuter, scharfer Sauce + Nüsse.

Da geht mehr für den Preis.

Und To good to go - App Kunden sollten nicht 10 Minuten vor Ende des Frühstücks das Buffet abräumen dürfen. Danach gerne.

Der Empfang im Hotel war nicht gerade berauschend. Man hat sich nicht gerade willkommen gefühlt und schade, dass nur ein Teil der Gäste Zimmer früher bekommen.
Ansonsten ist das Hotel zu empfehlen. Wir waren schon mehrfach da.
