Overall pretty good stay at the hotel, though the shampoo/body wash offered seems a bit lack luster. Also having a menu for the breakfast would be helpful, as asking the greeter at the dinning area with \"what options are available, what do you serve, and 2-3 other forums of the same question yielded little results.

This hotel was a mixed bag. First, the bad: unreliable/inconsistent wifi, mediocre room that had no desk or work space and very little room for 2 adults and 2 kids. It didn't have a fridge and there was barely any horizontal area in the bathroom to even set clothes down while showering. Lights require a room key to operate which was annoying, the kids hated the sofa bed, and the location is LOUD with nights full of screaming police sirens because it is on the corner of two busy streets and it is relatively close to central station (the epicenter of drugs and addicts in Hamburg). All was not terrible though: the staff was great, the property is well-kept and nice, and the breakfast was fantastic. Even though it is near central station, it seemed like a nice area that felt safe (if busy).

If you are travelling as a family (with kids), keep in mind that the rooms are pretty small and the size of the bed is also small.

Disappointing Stay at Novotel Hotel

recently stayed at your hotel for a week and had a very disappointing experience. Despite booking the highest-priced room, the service fell far below expectations. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful throughout my stay, which made the experience unpleasant.

Additionally, basic amenities like bottled water were not provided in the room, which is surprising given the price point and standard one would expect. Also lot of sounds as some work going on.

I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the service and guest experience.

I booked 2 rooms for my family of 5 and when I checked in they gave us 1 room in the first floor and the second one in the 4 th floor which was very inconvenient. The room was very small and had no desk or makeup table and when I booked I thought the room will have an extra bed for tgd 3 rd person that I was charged extra for but it turned that they just opened the sofa to make it a bed for the 3 rd adult so there was no sitting area either

We had a great stay at the Novotel Alster. It was our first visit to Hamburg. The hotel was clean and always smelt lovely. The staff were nice and everything requested was brought up straight away. The breakfast offering was fresh and lovely and I really liked the fresh lemon and ginger tea bar. You are on the door step of the under/overground which was fantastic and about 12 minutes away from the gorgeous town centre. I had no issues and look forward to coming and staying here again. Thanks Novotel!

Everything seemed fine until we decided to have a drink in the bar are on the last night. That’s when Ratatouille decided to appear and run under the window on the carpet. I noticed at breakfast there were bait boxes on the dining area so obviously there is a rodent problem

Modern hotel in a good location if you don’t mind using the ubahn. Entrance to the ubahn station is only steps away- but it’s an extra cost to consider. Breakfast was great and parking is right under the hotel for 19€ per day. Staff were very friendly. Complaints would be the street noise was insane if you cracked your window. Our room was inexplicably hot so we wanted fresh air- but it was definitely noisy. Room was clean but small and no coffee in the room. Overall it was a good hotel, but not great.

We arrived late at night and the man at reception spoke the bare minimum to us, no welcome, no explanation of wifi/breakfast - bluntly asked for my credit card for deposit/hold without saying how much it was (240euro!). The room was a decent size, beds were very soft, almost too much so, there was a big silverfish bug in our bath when we arrived. Location of the hotel was quite nice, there is a metro entrance outside. Free wifi is limited - then you need to pay for additional data. I think the price/quality was ok.

Wir kennen das Novotel von früheren Aufenthalten in Düsseldorf und Hannover und waren bisher immer zufrieden.
Leider war das bei unserem Besuch im Hamburger City Alster nicht der Fall. Gut waren Check-in und Check-out, aber dazwischen war es wirklich nicht dem Standard entsprechend. Obwohl wir erst um etwa 19:00 Uhr anreisten, war das Zimmer nicht sauber: Haare im Wachbecken, Kaffeeflecken auf der Anrichte, und das Bett war auch nicht so nett gemacht wie wir es von Novotel gewohnt waren.
Im Restaurant hatten wir zunächst ein Wasser bestellt, nach etwa 20 Minuten Wartezeit habe wir dann Essen und weiter Getränke bestellen „dürfen“, das Wasser kam aber immer noch nicht. Bei der Bestellung wurde uns dann mitgeteilt, dass es von dem an sich schon übersichtlichen Menü nun auch keine Pizza mehr gäbe. Gut, wir bestellten etwas anderes. Nach weiteren 15 Minuten warten, ohne dass irgendetwas gebracht wurde (nicht die Getränke und auch nicht das Wasser auf das wir inzwischen mehr als eine halbe Stunde gewartet hatten), stornierten wir die komplette Bestellung und gingen in einem Restaurant in der Nähe essen.
Nach unserer Rückkehr hat meine Frau um etwa 23:00 Uhr bei Housekeeping nach einer Duschhaube gefragt und würde am Telefon sehr unfreundlich behandelt, und eine Duschhaube gab es auch nicht.

Insgesamt, war das ein sehr enttäuschender Besuch.

Spent a week here on holidays & we found the hotel easily & there is an entrance to the underground just about 25 meters from the front door.

We found the staff very friendly & helpful. They all spoke good english, this was a bonus for us. We were impressed with the bright clean room but it had two single beds, on the second day we enquired if we could get a double room & this was sorted quickly.

We found the bar tenders friendly & were good to crack a joke or two. We had room only so cannot comment on the breakfast. This was too expensive for us but there was a Rewe store a short distance away so we were sorted.

We loved our stay here, the bed was comfortable & the shower was great & will return again in the future.

Thanks to all your hotel staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Good base to explore Hamburg

Good location to explore Hamburg with the U-Bahn right outside. We paid E12 for w ticket which did all of us for the day. Room was nice although a bit tight for 4. Breakfast was excellent - good choices and very nice coffee. We didn't use the bar area but it looked nice. Parking was E18 so we parked on the street at the side for free. Overall very happy.

My only complaint is the lack of convenient power outlets. When I travel for business I have several different things I need to plug in and there were only 3 outlets in the room - virtually all of them inconveniently located. While this may not seem like a big issue - it causes a lot of stress.

An average Novotel stay

We were somewhat disappointed with our stay. The room - a standard double - was fine. The room was large enough but lacked a TV with BBC and/or CNN and the liquid soap in the bathroom ran out and wasn't refilled. Cleaning was a bit lax on one day. We felt the hotel was a bit stingy on what it provides in the room for guests.

The local area has little of interest and its a train ride or a longish walk to the St Georg area near the Alster. Having the U Bahn (U1, U3) entrance at the front door is a real plus.

Our problems were with maintenance. One night, with little warning, we were told that power would be off to all rooms from midnight to 5 am. We got a flashlight for the evening. If this was routine maintenance on the hotel's power, we think we should have known earlier as it may have caused us to change hotels for this trip. The following morning, one of the two lifts was under maintenance. The other lift couldn't cope. We decided to use the stairs to find them closed while the stairwell was painted. We were essentially trapped on the second floor for 20 minutes as a full lift arrived and departed. Later we found we could use emergency exits at each end of the building, which take one outside the building, but at the time it was not clear whether these doors were alarmed. Really, too much going on for a pleasant night. But that was one of four nights and the others we rate as just about fair for the price paid.

Hotel is warm, friendly and busy. Staff were not attentive to guests. Asked a number of times to get something in the room fixed, it never happened and they even told lies that someone had been in to fix it but they were caught out, very poor.

The main strength of this hotel was its staff, breakfast and location all of which were excellent (although no English breakfast tea!) Although the hotel had the facilities of a 4 star it was very much a place to sleep rather than linger. The staff were helpful, when we discovered our kettle did not work it was replaced within minutes and they also gave us additional tea chocolate and milk which housekeeping were rather tight with ( one milk for 3 people for 24 hours!) The breakfast can only be described of as epic (no lunch will be required!) It is right next to the U bahn but you cannot hear it and an 'after 9am' ticket for 3 people all day is only 11.80 Euro, good value and is good for the S Bahn out to the airport. on balance a good value for money hotel.

Good place to stay for weekend city break.

Easy to get to from airport via underground. Staff friendly and accommodating. Room very clean comfortable and a good size with drink making facilities.Found local cafe for breakfast though as breakfast in hotel was expensive. Next to tube station and main road but made travelling around city very cheap and convenient. Not luxurious hotel but ticked boxes for a good weekend city break.

Great spot for a Hamburg experience

We went with two small children and found it a perfect location from which to venture into this amazing city. It's a relatively quiet area so you can settle down but the U-Bahn is right in front of the hotel and you have access to get anywhere you could want. There is some steet parking available so you don't have to use the hotel parking so keep it in mind.

Clean and comfortable hotel with restaurant and good breakfast. Not much right around the hotel, but a U-baun stop is right outside the hotel door, so you can get around the city quickly and easily. Nice staff and they had out baby bed set up and ready to go on arrival. Would stay here again if we go back to Hamburg.

Nice hotel from the outside. Front desk friendly and helpful. Lobby and bar/restaurant look good, too.
Room a little outdated, but clean and not worn out. Good isolation when having a room facing the street. Size is ok. Unfortunately sheets had stains when we arrived and the shower was partly moldy. Housekeeping took care of it after calling twice, not good. Sheets then had holes... Called again and they gave us good sheets the day before we left.

High quality of service, catering and amenities in a good location for access to the City Centre on foot, bike ,car, bus or train. Next to underground station and an easy 20 minutes from the airport. Abzüge gibt es für die Rezeption, die bei Anfragen nicht bemüht war, eine für den Gast akzeptable Lösung zu finden und für das absolut katastrophal organisierte Frühstück. Die Warteschlange für einen Tisch war meterlang.

ABER man kommt hinein, und einfach nur WOW 😍

Ein toller erster Eindruck, die Rezeption sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit.

Das Zimmer war modern und sauber!!!

Das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen, süßes, pikantes alles war dabei.

Fazit: wenn wir wieder nach Hamburg reisen, dann sicher wieder in dieses Hotel!!

地下鉄の出入り口から徒歩1分で非常に便利でした。

Nyt og lækkert hotel, venlig service, gode værelser og fantastisk morgenmad. Vi kunne desuden lade bilen stå på hotellet, tage metroen ind til byen og hente bilen igen inden vi skulle hjem, istedet for at parkere inde i Hamborg centrum.

A bad experience to remember

Breakfast very mediocre. Not much selection on pastries, bread, fresh fruits. Only croissant!!! Where are the danishes, muffins, pancake, peanut butter, fresh juices, yogurts, limited choice on bread and Cereals. After breakfast no possibility to have a free coffee at any time of the day unless it is a paid one. For the price the room is paid, is it hard to believe this service and will think better at my next booking. Breakfast was paid and not free.

Fint hotel

Fint sted kommer gerne igen.
Mange mennesker til morgenmaden . stod tit i kø for at komme ind.
Pandekage maskinerne var der afsindig lang kø til ( op til 30 min vente tid)
