Not entirely business friendly if you are on a European business excursion. 2 of 3 rooms had no desk. The one that did, no power socket. No laundry form, bag or service. Laundromat down road. No Umbrella at entrance. Apparently we are all made of sugar.

Proximity to tourist activities, public transportation and train station were good. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you are a business traveler this hotel would be a good choice as well. There is a beautiful lake very close to the hotel. The room was tidy and comfortable albeit wear was showing too. It served our purposes perfectly.

Good location and close to the central area. The ground level was nicely decorated. The staff was nice in general but could have been more helpful. The check-in feels rush and we weren’t told about the different amenities in the hotel such as breakfast or sauna when we first arrived and only learned that the sauna was available from a different guest. The room was small but has what we need. Cleaning staff comes everyday but didn’t clean used glasses which is the main reason why cleanliness loses a star. A bit noisy at night. We were excited about the bar after reading the review but find that it was a bit cheesy.

Was excited to stay at this property and was so disappointed upon arrival. Front desk staff barely greeted us and it was self check-in on a device. No assistance from desk clerks. The room was shocking-nothing like the photos-run down, dusty with a filthy shag carpeting. The shower flooded the bathroom and there was no shampoo and conditioner.
The downstairs bar was loud and rowdy with mostly locals. The music was so loud you couldn’t have a conversation and the waiters were rude.
All together a completely sub par hotel. Spend your money elsewhere.

Room acoustics are extremely terrible, you hear everything above you and next you. Hotel in addition has dubious payment procedure that means you pay upon check out but when you check in they hold the same amount simultaneously including an additional deposit holding on top of regular fees. so you pay twice and wait until the first authorisation drops off. Never seen this at another hotel anywhere. Its such bad practice.

We have stayed here many times and, overall, it is always a very pleasant hotel with friendly staff and nicely situated in the city. We travel with our 2 dogs and there is a convenient place to walk them just across the street. However, when it comes to housekeeping, we find that, even after asking for service while out, we come back and the room has not been attended to.

Room had an unpleasant ‘dirty diaper’ smell. Hotel itself is a quirky boutique feel. Down side is breakfast is 22€ per person. Bar prices are likewise high. Best to walk a couple of meters off site to eat.

Full points for cleanliness, that is always my top one for any hotel. Room was ok size with large window which was important as for some reason the hotel is dark theme and all areas are pretty dark and not enough light. When I went for dinner I had to use torch on my phone to read the menu. Internet was not great and it was hit and miss as connection kept getting dropped. I had to do some urgent work and had to use hotspot from my phone. Restaurant was great and food was good quality and reasonably priced. I can’t say same about pricing of breakfast at 21.50 euros.

The entire hotel was quite warm. I was unable to turn the temperature down in my room, and opening a window at night was not an option due to the street noise, thus I was unable to get much sleep the first night. They gave me a room facing the lake the second night, which reduced street noise, but it was still very warm in my room. Staff very nice, drinks at the bar were very good. The free jaguar rental is nice, but be sure to get a card to open the garage gate.

I loved my stay. The staff was super friendly and the sauna was a welcomed delight. The WiFi works really well and the decor is lovely. My only complaint was the carpet in my room (gross). I would stay here again if I find myself in Hamburg.

This was my second stay. Overall lovely hotel with polite staff. However we encountered a delayed check in by almost an hour which is always annoying after you’ve been traveling. The worst part of our 3 night stay was NO WiFi in the corner 1st floor Junior Suite. And I don’t mean spotty I mean ZERO WiFi. After mentioning it over the few days with no real solution from other staff it was only the clerk at check out who acknowledged the ongoing problem. Disappointed to receive no compensation. In 2019 no WiFi is a big problem.
A positive was that we were traveling with our 2 dogs and they we received with 2 cozy beds in our room with welcome cookies. All that for 30euros a night x 2=60 euros a day. A little bit of a money grab in my opinion.

There is a wide window sill, and they have pillows on that to make it look like a seating area, but it's really not unless you are under 100 pounds or a twelve year old. The window opened, which I love, but on the second floor--third floor in the U.S.--I could clearly hear conversations from folks sitting out at the street level bar, which went on until after 2 a.m. some days.
The staff were very efficient on check-in, but didn't greet me or even make eye-contact when I passed them by exiting and entering, which I did several times a day over the three nights I stayed. I understand German reserve, but those in the hospitality industry need to be more approachable and welcoming.

Sometimes I send a note with my Expedia reservation to the hotel about what I need for my room. Simple requests; Firm pillows and 2 liters of water. When I check in at 10 PM, It was not there because they haven't read that msg, and they could not provide the pillow for the first night because the people who can be able to provide the pillows was already left. The second night they found something that mediocre. I gave up asking after.
Design of the room is little bit run down. The carpet looks not right in the room. Had a feeling they try too hard to have cool design feeling but have to admit the experience was not good enough, other George hotels were more successful than this one. The restaurant was nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at The George. The hotel is right on the lake and has plenty of lovely restaurants, a supermarket, pharmacy and bars in close proximity. It’s also within easy walking distance of the city centre.
The staff were extremely helpful and we enjoyed the bar and breakfast buffet. The only negative comment I have is that pillows in the rooms are dreadful! Thinner than a pancake and a view shared by our friends, who were also staying at the hotel. Otherwise, the hotel comes highly recommended.

We found the staff most accommodating and proficient in several languages. The premises exuded a quiet elegance and provided all necessary amenities, including a popular Italian restaurant. A fabulous hotel- well located and very friendly. There’s a great outdoor bar with heaters and blankets for the cooler evenings and a rooftop bar (closed when we were there but open for the great views). Beds were so comfortable. Free bike hire (quality bikes).
The only issue was the loud noise coming from the courtyard below our room on the Friday night. We’d heard nothing Weds or Thursday. The glazing obviously doesn’t work! We queried it on checking out and there had been a birthday party.
I’d definitely stay again but would request a room away from the courtyard as it will only get worse as the weather improves.

Great hotel.
We had a most enjoyable few days in this hotel. It's situated in a lovely area; with the Lange Reihe on its doorstep. Our M room was extremely comfortable as was the bed which gave us a great night's sleep. It's small balcony overlooked some offices, but they did not make the room any less bright. Almost all the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The Musack in the bar was a bit too loud for easy conversation. Howevr, ther's a pleasant \"sit-ooterie\" out front.

The hotel is in a nice area for restaurants and coffee and the central station is a 10-15 minute walk. The hotel itself has quite a lively cocktail bar that appears to be poplar with the locals. What let the hotel down was their stingy allocation of in-room shampoo, shower gel and coffee - two of us had to share one bottle each per day. For the price paid and the star rating I would gave accepted more. The complimentary water was not replaced after day 1 and I just felt that I probably would have got a better level of service if I would have booked direct with the hotel - this appears to be a common theme when booking via brokers such as Hotels.com Our room was placed next to the lift so it pretty much felt like I was getting the bare essentials in terms of room allocation and in-room services. The hotel itself is nice and the location of St Georg is certainly worth exploring.

We stayed here on the last night of a fortnight travelling around Europe by train. So had 7 other hotels in that time to compare it with.
We chose the hotel primarily for the location, only a 5 min taxi ride from the main train station, hich really suited us.
The interior of the hotel itself was very dark, I'm not too sure if that's the \"boutique\" style,? But we thought it could have been better lit. The room itself was a fairly standard sized double room, with ensuite. It had a shower, but not a bath. The pillows were not great, in fact very soft. So we had to fold them in half, so get the same depth as a normal pillow we are used too. The bed itself was very comfortable.
The biggest disappointment came in the morning, when we went to make a coffee with the coffee and kettle provided. There were no cups, mugs or spoons to make the coffee with. Fortunately we had some souvenir mugs in our luggage that avoided us having to call room service at 0900am.
When we went out of the hotel, there was a good supply of umbrellas for us to borrow, as it was a particularly wet weekend while we were there.

The perfect hotel!!
My wife and I spent two nights and we were absolutely impressed by the architectural style, interior design, quality of service and friendliness of staff. I am travelling much and hardly manage to find the 'perfect' hotel, but this one belongs in that particular category. Our room 506 had a small balcony with lake view, individual decoration, very comfortable bed and was quiet. The hotel bar is gorgeous, try one of the many cocktails! And also try the breakfast, it's absolutely delicious with a great variety of treats. We'll be back!

Wonderful boutique hotel - great service and inviting lounge areas. No on site gym but there is a connection with a local gym. Restaurant and bar are very good.

We arrived at The George Hotel late morning - reception staff were welcoming and very friendly - as expected room was not quite ready but hotel immediately offered to look after our case. The St. Georg area is a perfect location (10 mins from main station by foot) - lovely small shops to browse in on our way to the hotel. Local buses were available should be have chosen this option. We had already purchase our 2 day bus/underground ticket at the airport and this proved a handy way to get about the city. Hamburg is fantastic especially at this time of year - the weather was cold, dry and blue skies - perfect. We were only in Hamburg for 2 days (we needed longer) - shopping, sightseeing and food all perfect. Opon returning to our hotel early evening we checked into our room - again a friendly efficient service - the room was excellent. The hotel has a good atmosphere - we ate in the restaurant both evenings - the food was amazing and the waiter service very friendly and efficient - the hotel was buzzing with a mixture of age groups all enjoying themselves. We will return.

This was a great Hotel to stay at. Very close the the main train station, Hauptbanhoff, and situated next to an area full of restaurants and cafe's. You could walk to most areas of the inner city from the hotel, which was very handy.

It could have been great.great decor and super deluxe bed but internet that timed out every 40-60 minutes which disrupts whatever you were doing. Also, my room phone was broken and the slightly rude front desk guy said it would be fixed but no one bothered to show up. The handset was actually separate from the phone. Seriously, an upper scale hotel that can't follow up on a basic request?

Lovely stay at this hotel. Reception and Bar Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate and very nicely designed. Food in the bar was lovely and bar staff are great at choosing you your perfect drink! Location is great, only a ten minute walk to the train station and lots of lovely bars and restaurants in the area.
