First time ever doing this. Here goes. Came here when many people cancelled due to recent events in pv. Occupancy was less than half. Still we had a room directly above the stage roof with no view to ocean or pool area. Our balcony view was the roof of stage with 2 pair of men’s underwear and a cup on top. I asked 2 times for a room a few floors up. And reluctantly they said I could get a room 1 floor higher but on back side of hotel. 2 of the 3 restaurants closed every night. I understand that. All I wanted is a view of ocean. I’ve stayed 7 times at the riu resorts in pv and mazatlan. They had many vacant rooms but just didn’t care enough about the people who didn’t cancel to try and make their vacation better. Many people we talked to at pool had similar experiences. Time to look at a different place to stay.

Our first room did not have ocean view and we were quite disappointed. After 4 days we had to move due to fumigation, and got a better view: 4026. The food was a little disappointing, but we had a great time.

Probably best all inclusive we’ve stayed at. 5 pools, not super easy to get a chair with umbrella at the pool but ocean with shade was not a problem. Great long beach to walk. Saw many whales from the beach. Easiest accessibility to à la carte restaurants I’ve been to. Buffet was great too, lots of selection, were always able to eat at an outside table. Great staff!

The room was good, the food was ok….but the pools were just overcrowded. The beach was ok, lots of chairs, but the resort needs to clean the very dirty chairs( bird poop) and filthy small tables, many drink spills on them. A nightly hose down and a quick wipe down on the tables would’ve been appreciated.

Just returned from our stay here. The room was cleaned daily and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The sports bar area did have a strange smell to it and the food and late night snacks could use some improvement. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and found it to be a beautiful beach and pool.

The room was small, and I forgot how small a double bed was. Hotel staff was good, buffet was very good. Steak house, Italian and Japanese food(buffet style) all great. Props to Mimi and abner at the pool side for a great time. Lots of activities and kids loved the kids club. Would be nice if the kids could eat at the kids club. Hours are (10-1300, then 1500-1700)

Had a wonderful stay at the Riu Vallarta, brought our 3 year old son along and the staff was so great and attentive to him , his favorite part was the new towel animals that our cleaners made for him everyday.

The food and amenities were great, the staff were friendly once we arrived for check-in. We had a glitch because of our flight delay of seven plus hours thereby missing our connecting flight. We arrived 24 hours after our check-in time but the hotel held our reservation after a few frantic phone calls. Once we got settled into our room our vacation was great.

The beach area was also very crowned, noisy, many vendors that were relentless. the chairs were dirty. Not a pleasant resort for sitting by a pool or beach. the nightly entertainment was poor. The stage area not well laid out. Would not recommend.

The staff was great during every interaction. They really tend to the details at this resort. Someone is always cleaning, painting or manicuring the grounds to make it beautiful. Food was great every day. The location is great and close to the airport. Fun activities.

This hotel could use a little extra love. It felt a bit understaffed. The bathroom was humid and the room smell of humidity overall. I’d bring my own bath towel if planning on staying here. As I entered my room one evening I was greeted by a roach. It’s safe to say it was not the only one I saw. The staff was sweet. The Italian restaurant was great and the steak house was good as well. The buffet had a good variety of options. This hotel does not offer room service. I feel I overpaid. I’ve stayed at another RIU before and I was expecting the same experience this time and that was not the case.

Clean room, great staff. Restaurants were good except the Asian.(we tried it 2x to make sure) There were no bicycles even though it was a listed amenity. Games room should be separate from the sports bar and have pinball and/or video games for the younger crowd. The pool table & foosball was coin operated so a real irritant for an all inclusive. No separate adult pool. Foam party at the activity pool was great for all ages. Pool umbrellas did not provide shade-they were very translucent. Great place but not for us.

Restaurants were told no reservations. However you did not put your bar on the list at 6pm they would sell out for the night. We ended up not having dinner one night because of it and then leaving the resort for future meals.

The room and resort would have been good but the terrible construction and drilling in the wall all day for 3 days in a row was terrible. The worst part was how unwilling the staff was when asked if they can take a half hour brake as I was getting a heache from the loud noise so that I can leave the room, but was told that they are scheduled to work until 6pm and there is nothing they can do about it. I was not notified ahead of time of the noises and i did not feel safe during my stay. Would NOT recommend. The fact that they have no standards in place to help or protect the guests from such terrible environment means they don't care for their guests.

My husband and I just got back last night from staying at Riu Vallarta. All in all, we loved it! Only one issue, really. The food was awful. No matter what restaurant you went to.
But the service was great. Bartenders were amazing! All the staff was awesome. The rooms were so-so. The beds didn’t come with a comforter or duvet or anything but we had an extra blanket in the closet so whatever.

Housekeeping staff were very pleasant and our room was very clean. When we called customer service to replace the bottled water and coffee packages, they were delivered quite promptly. All the dining room and bar servers went out of their way to ensure we had anything we needed.
On the downside, this was our second visit to this hotel and both times there were lots of issues with the elevators. We were able to use the stairs, but other people experienced long waits for service. Also, the recorded music that plays in the lobby bar area isn't very pleasant. Rather than the constant disco beat, maybe a variety of genres might be nice.

As far as assigned room condition and service, it was top notch. Our previous stay was in a much more desirable room overlooking the courtyard where we could sit on the balcony and enjoy hearing the music at a pleasant volume. This room overlooked a back alley and had no other attractive qualities.

The breakfast buffets are nice and adequate but lunch and dinner offerings are lackluster. There are only buffets for lunch and there are usually only two à la carts restaurants open every night. The food in these restaurants are also disappointing, steak we had were of cheap cut and many dishes were too salty. There were also not enough local food representations, which is very disappointing for the area.

The beach is gorgeous!! Staff was helpful and friendly. Food was average, The only way to get an umbrella on the beach is to rent one…….we had never stayed at a resort that does this. Also, the swim up bar lounge chairs are never free. Towels must be placed at midnight !! Also, water in that pool really smells like urine 😵💫

I have stayed at other Riu properties in Puerto Vallarta and had much better experiences. This one just did not live up to expectations and I probably would not return.

From the entertainment staff, to the cleaning crew, to the bartenders, the bellboys, the front lobby crew, the waiters, everyone is working their butts to make sure your vacation is perfect. The second we walked in, we were greeted with fun and kidness. The bellboy was hilarious, letting our kids hop onto the trolley cart and riding it! The check in was fast and efficient. Our room was in perfect condition. Clean and nice and cool all week! The rooms are stocked with lots of drinks (water, beer, pop, plus other alcohol). The water in the shower is nice and warm.
