Had to do a little walk to get to the ocean, walking across the street. No big deal if you don't mind walking, as the street has basically no traffic. Food was good, had a few issues with a couple of the servers, but no big deal. Rooms were big and cozy, property was in really good conditions, no issues whatsoever with room services. They have plenty of restaurants to pick from, but you have to remember to make reservations early in the morning because they fill up pretty quick and you have to do it on a daily basis. Otherwise, you'll be stuck with the buffets, which are not bad and they have two of them. Good variety of food. Two problems, though. They have plenty of pools, but they close them at 6 pm, which I never heard of. I didn't mind it that much because I love jumping in the ocean and I barely use the pool, but sometimes I like to go in the pool for a few minutes before getting ready for dinner. Other hotels usually stay opened until 8 or 9 pm. And my other main issue was that I made reservations through Expedia for 3 couples. And when I arrived to the hotel, they only found a reservation for one of the couples (not even mine) using the confirmation I received from Expedia. I was kind of mad because they say they had no way of knowing we were coming together and they oit us on separate areas. I don't see the point on making a reservation through Expedia if there's no communication among them. Bad experience that way and barely any help

The room was spotless, the food was excellent. The only complaint would be the walls in the room. We had a door in the wall to the adjacent room and could hear everything unfortunately plus the drain was plugged up in the shower. Beautiful beach though! Theater was very entertaining and with the cartel stuff going on we felt safe and the resort was well-stocked! We had a great time!

Be prepared for the long walk, just to go to your room and take your luggage for three flight stairs as An old hotel building are old room are pretty old. There is no body wash or hand wash and for the staff, they have to do good work hiring bilingual staff, but other than that the staff were super nice and cooperative amenities were good, but they are reservation portal was not working to book the restaurant so you have to do manually everything and for the quality of food, it was worst food was stayed. It was repeated multiple times from one of a restaurant to another if you are vegetarian or vegan. Best of luck staying in this hotel.

The beach was great, and so was the view from the ocean front block. The food at both the buffets and restaurants on site were terrible. It was also disappointing that you can't take food out of the restaurants or snack shacks, or order it to your room or beach chair. If you stay, be prepared to venture out to eat. The rooms were okay, they could definitely could use a deep clean. The beach isn't private, so there is a lot of pan handling during the day.

For me, I keep coming back because the staff are all top notch, cleaning staff, bar staff, restaurant staff, maintenance, also the entertainment staff go above and and beyond with exuberance, and trying to get people involved.
The room was cleaned daily to an acceptable standard.
The pools were great as were the buffets for all meals, there was always options at all meals.
The grounds were beautifully kept.
Wifi has improved greatly the last couple of years, it is so appreciated.
These are areas that need improvement the reservation system for the à la carte restaurants totally sucked… you had to be in the line up by 7:30 each morning.
Also the lounge chairs on beach were an issue every day to reserve/save so that you could have a little shade under the palapas, more longe chairs & palapas are desperately needed.
All in all enjoyed our stay, but with a few minor improvements the resort could be rated much higher.

The showers were cold, not may bars to sit at the hotel we pay all inclusive for what? Then the swimming pools were so small only 10 chairs at each pool and even the adult pool you had to walk a whole block to get there. The food was not tasteful they only give you like 8 items to choose from. I definitely would not stay here again!

The room was clean, bed was comfortable, we booked an ocean front room, so the view was amazing. Location of the hotel is also very good. Nice area of the beach that isn't rocky, very nice sand. Pickle ball in the mornings was hit or miss, depending on who showed up. The hotel had some scheduled activities but it didn't appear anyone was doing any of the activities.
Room was very dated, plumbing was old (I.e paper goes in the trash, brush your teeth with bottled water).
We only ate one meal here, it was below average. The morning coffee was bad, evening cocktails were okay. Thankfully there are many great restaurants within a 10 minute walk.

Coming to this hotel for years. This year it appeared to be in need of upgrades and general area management. It was never a 3 star barely making 2 star. I’m being picky but it was recently painted and paint spatters on the sink toilet down the walls. There was always water on the toilet floors leak from somewhere. So inconsistent with toiletries one day 2 towels next day 3 another day no hand towels. Just real sloppy service. Grounds were not kept up anywhere like our last stay 3 years ago. Breakfast always good lunch so so dinner not good. Usually food was look warm. We ate out in the town for dinner most of the 14 evenings there.
We were in block 2 and the noise from the events people was so loud from 10am until show was over at 10:30pm was so bad you couldn’t relax. Even on the beach loud speaker was way too loud. We eventually bought an umbrella so we could move down the beach where it was quieter.

It’s a real shame this hotel is on a fabulous beach and the town is nice to walk around and get something to eat. However the area is becoming overly crowded now and there was lots of construction and truck noise all day long.
Sounds like I’m overly picky and
Complaining. But when you are now paying $8000 for two weeks of hard earned money and getting second rate facility then it’s time to look elsewhere.
This area of Mexico is almost beyond the average persons affordability. When you see scandalous prices and gouging the results will be bad for the locals.

The rooms are outdated and could use some modernization. Our bathroom specifically needed upkeep as our ceiling tiles and door hinges were rusty and the shower tiles needed cleaning.

I was a bit disappointed with this property. We were in building #5. It was quite dated and not to the standard I had expected for what the cost was. Saying that, the location of this hotel is perfect, the staff is excellent. The facility is very clean. The food was ok but I feel that it is inline with most of the all-inclusive resorts. My only true frustration with this resort was trying to get reservation for the specialty restaurants. It ws awful and after a few try we gave up wasting our time. The app didn't work for us and the line up at the service counter was 40 deep. Not wasting our precious vacation time waiting in that. We walked into the town of Bucarias. It was very safe and had fantastic meals there. Yes we had already paid for our meals at the hotel but not force feeding ourselves a mediocre buffet meal to prove a point. Again the location, cleanliness and EXCELLENT staff are what are what make this hotel.

We love the Grand Decameron. Its very casual, food is good and rooms are super clean. Its close to Bucerias, a 7 min walk, which is great. Bucerias has a great outdoor market and many incredible restaurants.
What I didnt like was having to pay for rooms again even though I booked the entire package on Expedia. Package for all inclusive, flights, rooms was paid in full but Expedia never paid the hotel. I had to pay again when we got to the hotel. Then, while trying to enjoy my vacation I had to deal with Expedia to get my money back for paying twice for our room. In the end, after many emails, Expedia reimbursed me but what a hassle while on vacation. They never offered anything to compensate me for my trouble. I'm very hesitant to use Expedia again. After talking to a few people I hear this is very commom for this company. That's suprising for a company of this size.
I give the Grand Decameron 4 stars and Expedia 0 stars.

Safe resort this was our first time in Mexico we felt safe inside and outside resort
The market was about a 20 min walk away no issues walking there and back
Beach was lovely great to sit back relax and walks day or night
Resort was good a little far from city but u can take public bus or cab cost you 40-60 paso

Great entertainment every night, staff was really nice and helpful
Most staff understood English

Buffets open was good but repeats after awhile
They have special restaurants you can book into but you have to be booking at 8am. Restaurant only can be booked once a day so you have to get up 8am each day and only can book one spot per room.
Rooms were clean and nice beds weren’t to bad little firm.
Great resort for sitting, relaxing, and pools were great
Only thing pool towels were confusing and only 2 booths. Need to be put on map u get.
7 days was enough for us but did some great tours.

It was my wife’s and I’s fifth wedding anniversary, and it was amazing, it was my wife’s first timeout of country and she was blown away by the resort, the people, the food, and the culture!

I left the Decameron yesterday, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Our room was cleaned everyday, the grounds were immaculate and the Service was amazing!
Javier at the block 4 bar was outstanding! If you want to relax and have a Great time, I highly recommend this resort. And also, The Rhythm of the Night Show, mesmerizing ! Thank you to all of the staff for making our Vacation a success. See you next year!

We had an ocean front view, which was beautiful, however, very noisy at night. There were two very loud weddings during our six stay night stay. The room was very small and out dated. There was a small 20 inch TV on the wall, however we had no remote to operate it. I requested a remote three times and gave up after that. The air conditioning has highly ineffective. The lowest we were able to get it during our stay was 26°C. The room has limited storage and a small closet, so be prepared to live out of your suitcase. The mini fridge did not cool and left a giant puddle of water on our floor. Food quality was decent at all restaurants, but wine is terrible and the alcohol choices are very limited. Roger in the sports bar was my VIP of the trip. He was extremely gracious and provided excellent service.

We loved our visit, the rooms were clean but slightly outdated which is fine, you dont go on vacation for the rooms. The staff was all friendly and helpful when needed. The food was phenomenal so many wonderful options for those who are willing to try something new. Very safe, i ended up losing my phone and hat on two separate occasions and one of the guests brought my phone to the staff and a staff member recognized me and told me he had my hat. Walking distance to the grocery store and some flea markets. Had no issues with reservations as we linked our wyndham rewards and they gave us different restaurants each day. Recommend bringing floaties or a sleeping pad for the beach as the chairs are quite hard, but otherwise great time. Would definitely come back!

Ocean view is good, but it isnt actually \"Ocean view\" more like, \"Close to the beach\".

This place is huge, so if you want to actually see the ocean, there is another offering called \"Ocean Front View\".

Areas are clean, staff is friendly, good amenities and pools are spread throughout the entire property. Good service in overall.

The staff doesn’t understand English. They keep routing your query from one person to the next. Kept us waiting for hours because they couldn’t understand or speak English. We had to stay in a room with 2 separate beds(FYI we are a couple). They asked us to adjust for a night and didn’t bother to reciprocate the favour by compensating in any way or even a thank you for the matter.
The bathroom was unclean. Worst part- NO WiFi in any room. How on earth will people survive without WiFi in today’s time.
Worst experience ever. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

I liked that this property had several pools and one of them was an adult's only pool where it was generally quieter. I liked that this property, at first impression, is a more authentic Mexican property with bright colors and great architecture. The beach is beautiful, aside from there being so many vendors trying to sell you their wares. The rooms were generally clean, however quite worn down and we had a huge spider in our bathroom.
The pools were warm and not very refreshing. The bartenders over at the adults only pool were fantastic. They always remembered our drinks and made the best Pina colada and were very personable.
In general, I liked this resort except for one thing: The food was aweful. I would not say this about any resort ever...but it really was. All week there was not any tacos or quesadillas or burritos or literally anything Mexican. There were regularly just cheese melted in a tortilla and that was called a quesadilla. No salsa, no pico de gallo, and rarely any hot sauce available other than tobasco. First time I've had trouble finding hot sauce, Pico or literally anything Mexican in Mexico.
The buffet regularly had hot dogs, burgers, fries, kids might like it. I had a good time, but I did struggle to find something to eat most days.
The dinner reservation system was down most days meaning we had to run over at 8am to get a dinner reservation if we wanted anything other than buffet. Only 1 restaurant is indoors and has a/c. Go to the Italian one.

We had an overall nice stay, buffet was pretty good. Restaurants aren’t the best. Mostly stayed at the adults only pool which was really nice and less chaotic, the other pools are usually filled with kids running around having fun. The resort is nice, pools and tanning chairs poolside, the beach I would say is the highlight of the resort with a really nice view and large beach access. However, the rooms are quite outdated and old. Look a lot older than what the pictures look like on here, the resort is also massive so depending on what block your room is in you will be doing a lot of walking around the resort which is totally fine just a heads up! Theres also a lot of activities around the resort which was nice, we played pickleball almost every morning, rented bikes for a bike ride (included in all inclusive) and went to a couple shows at night. Also keep in mind this resort is Definetly catered to a more local crowd rather than tourists, every sign is in Spanish only and the majority of the resort is domestic tourists. Overall, we enjoyed our stay

It was a bit far from the airport. We booked for a 1 king AND 1 Double bed room but was only given a one-king bedroom and when we asked about it, the reception said that it was my fault for not picking the right bed selection when it clearly showed in my reservation that it was supposed to be 2 beds (the gaslighting ugh!). Another thing about a staff issue was that one server in the buffet was probably trying to be friendly with us and greeted us in Chinese but we are not one so it was kind of awkward correcting him. I honestly don't think he should be assuming people's nationality if he's not sure or had heard us talk at all so were a bit offended.

Anyway, the phone was also not working in the room given to us so we couldn't call the Spa massage to reserve a slot and had to go in-person to reserve. Overall food selections though, from buffets to specialty restaurants, it was all okay, except the 2 days we ate for lunch buffets, we were stared at and watched by a FEW iguanas in the area and the servers were not doing anything about it. It was very uncomfortable and scary tbh. The beaches and the pools were wonderful~ no complains at all! The WIFI was NONEXISTENT. We were relying on our mobile data the whole time so that's something to take note of if you're booking this resort. It's definitely a good budget-friendly all-inclusive for first-timers but I would probably try a different resort next time I'm back at Puerto Vallarta.

This property consists of 6 buildings. 1-3 are older and are objectively crap. 4-6 are newer and a bit better but still fall short of the expectations you get when reading the listing. The whole place is aimed at domestic tourists and while there's nothing wrong with that it means the standards are lax. Everything was flaking and falling apart. The listing specified a king and a double bed which is one of the reasons we booked this place as our kids aren't small anymore and we needed the space. This layout apparently doesn't exist anywhere on the property so we spent a week sleeping on top of each other. Add to this an AC unit that struggled all night long and we didnt get much quality sleep. The second room they provided was next to one of the bars which was open intil 2am. Repeated requests to turn down the music went ignored and it was guitars and maraccas until 2am.

This is a poorly run and maintained property not up to any type of international standard.Expedia should be ashamed of itself.

The second day I was in love….. the people that work there were so friendly, polite and willing to help with whatever. We got to made friends with some of the staff too, recommended us the best restaurants in town, Bucerias and PV and I’m not taking about fancy upscale places I’m talking in town local food. The best food! Restaurant inside the resort are not that great food in not that season, but they do have to cater for a lot of different people coming from around the world so that’s understandable. The Wi-Fi is not the greatest but again it is a lot of people using it at the same time. The hotel is in the best area you can walk anywhere it is a safe area. We never had an issue and we were walking in town until 10/11 PM.

Property’s interior and exterior in poor condition. Room, linen, towels , etc…dirty, smelly, and old. Food courts were open and birds constantly pecking the food. Our stay was reserved and paid for four days, but we were so disappointed with this place that we left on the second day. The only amenity we enjoyed was the beach access and walks. If you are looking for a budget hotel to just sleep and shower, this is the place because even the pools are discouraging. Also, don’t rely on the a/c working.

This was our third stay at the the Grand Decameron. 2010, 2019, and 2025. It looked the same as it did in 2010, except a LOT more tired and some dull beige paint on the outside. It definitely needs some updating. They have tried to reduce costs by limiting seating for the reserved restaurants, which means they are now hard to get into, and they are not much better than the regular buffets. The shows are wonderful and seem to out-class the rest of the resort. We will not be returning until the updating is completed, and we will not be recommending the resort to friends any more.
