Our stay was very good, the pool was very nice very warm and good sized. The buffet and especially restaurants. The food was excellent. The staff was very accommodating, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We were upgraded to the royal room that had a balcony which was lovely. The beach was fantastic.

Pool closes around 7:30 and so does the pool bar. Housekeeping would make bed and provide fresh towels daily but never swept. The room was otherwise comfortable and the fridge was stocked with soda beer and a limited snacks. Having to make reservations for dinner before 4pm is silly, especially during the week when there’s hardly any people. Food was 7/10 but I come from Sonora so it may be different for someone who lives in Jalisco. We requested the hair dryer in our room to be changed out and it never got replaced. Bar staff was 10/10 and so was Karen at check in. The beach is beautiful and so are pool areas. Only bad thing about pool is no swim up bar.

Very good experience overall. I would recommend this resort to friends and family. The entertainment at night was stellar, the buffet is decent, the amenities are very solid. When you are booking your restaurants, choose the Japanese and Italian, both very good, the Mexican one was not great. 4.2/5

Royal service is the way to go, private breakfast area with an amazing view and more amazing staff like Antonio & Marisol, Tito & Danna taking care of you.

The special pool & beds on the beach are awesome and Irene’s there to get you drinks or water. The outdoor lunch buffet is the only way to go to eat at the beach.

At night choose any option and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re “tired” of vacation there’s a small mall directly across the street with a home type feel to it.

Great beach as well so there’s nothing to do but sit back and enjoy.

Clean room, friendly staff, enjoyable shows for nighttime entertainment, both kids and adults. Slight hiccup when it came to communicating (not with regards to language barrier)- some staff told us to do one thing and when we did, other staff said no we can’t- ex: had our room upgraded for free which was fantastic but we were short a bed, they had pull out couches and was told that someone would make it up for us each night, but when called and asked they were confused why we were asking and it took a long time to have it made up, often with reminder calls. One person asked if we wanted just to have a set time daily for it to be
Made up and we said yes but then when we asked about it again someone else said no. That part was frustrating the back and forth of it all.
The resort was clean, inviting and on the smaller side, making it easy to become comfortable with your surroundings faster.

The staff was fabulous, the food was excellent as well. We found there to be very little night life, which was fine. But some nights not anything even happening in the lobby.
We do lose hot water a few times as well.
Overall I would recommend this resort if you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet holiday.

The Occidental resort is stunning. Very well managed. All staff at this resort are fantastic people. They definitely make your stay extraordinary. The entertainment was beyond what i expected. The food is very good, especially the Japanese restaurant and the royal level rooftop restaurant. I will definitely go to this resort again and again. Thank you for an amazing experience. 💜

Room was cleaned everyday and the fridge was restocked daily. Staff are so friendly. Pool and area was as expected from previous trip and the bartenders are quite good. The only thing which changed from previous trip is the chairs around the pool are taken quite early; the previous year there was lots of selection at 7am this trip not much selection left by 7 except the beach had a lot. Restaurants are great with a lot of selection.

We enjoyed our stay at Occidental. The staff was very friendly and pool staff were energetic and fun. The evening entertainment was fantastic.
This is a smaller resort and more appropriate for an older crowd vs kids but they do have a kids pool. The beach is amazing, you can walk for miles.
We only ate in one specialty restaurant (twice) which was the Italian and the food was excellent. It was nice that they made personal omelets at the breakfast buffet. Didn't love the food at the buffet but there was lots of variety and fresh fruit/salad/baked good so I can't complain.

The room was acceptable- it was clean but not much for storage and smelled of mildew, we think it was the air-conditioners filter. Didn't have wash cloths or enough towels. The food was average at best but the Staff was beyond wonderful. We were there when the cartel disruption occured and the resturant had to close due to not enough staff but the staff that were there had to stay and work until others could finally arrive- they worked exceptionally hard to keep the guests happy and wet all got to celebrate when they were finally able to go home

Spotless room, great staff, authentic food at the buffet. Individual restaurants should be better than the buffet but they’re not. I stayed as a Royal guest. Also, they should take a page from higher end resorts and have pool and beach attendants to avoid people reserving chairs at 6 am. I alerted management and north was really done about it.

The evening shows were very loud. I asked to move into a room farther from the evening entertainment. They moved me two floors up, but still with a window right over the entertainment. It was difficult to sleep. The showers also didn’t function properly. I was really looking forward to resting on my vacation.

It was good until we had to rebook additional stay . We were stuck in Puerto Vallarta as all flights were cancelled we were unable get rooms decent with a cost of 346.31 US dollars a day . No fridge .
They said to book on line now asking for four additional days 3000.00

The room was clean and the staff were great but too much smoking. Smoking was allowed on patio's and some guests even smoked at the pool.
Food was good but nightly entertainment was subpar and after 11 pm there was no entertainment at all.
Music at pool only ran until about 5 or 6 pm depending on the day. I was a little disappointed. More of a hotel for seniors.

Great staff, clean well kept property. Book the balcony room , comes with drying rack for bathing suits. Three good specialty restaurants. Daily yoga with Armando @ 9:30, loves it. They don't supply body lotion or hair conditioner. There's a store in hotel with most things you need. Shade is limited on the beach area, no palappas, there are palm trees. Beach is clean and you can walk forever. Safe and good beds and towels

Beautiful grounds. Good location. Food was good. Room was however weathered looking and felt small especially since there was no balcony to sit on which I did not expect. Though the room was cleaned every day, you never knew when it would happen and when you would get fresh towels. Toilet did not work properly and even though a plumber came twice, it still was not fixed. Staff, however, were very courteous.

If you're looking for mediocre and like sleeping through a rock concert, this is the place for you. The buffett is okay, restaurants - well, we ate in each one at least two times. Will not miss the food. Most disappointing was the lack of employee cross training which meant a lack of service. Several employees did not speak English - which is not the problem. The problem was when you needed help, if they didn't speak English, they'd shrug and walk away. If they did speak English, you were often passed on to someone else. For instance, I was trying to find some chair clips that were taken from our chairs. No less than four people shrugged and pointed for me to ask someone else. No help, no service because it wasn't their area, so they wouldn't help you. Then, get this - If you're looking for a quiet evening it won't happen. At 9:00 PM, their live show starts. They appeared to be good shows, but they were outside by the pool and exceedingly loud. If you tried to go to sleep, it was impossible. Like I said, trying to sleep in a rock concert. Because of the noise, four other guests told us that they had to move their rooms, and it was still unbearable. The show is not optional. Everynight, everybody in the resort hears blasting, unrelenting music from 9:00-10:15 PM, then the karaoke starts in the open air lounge with loud singing filtering up into your room for over an hour. Don't expect to sleep or have any quiet in your room until well after 11:00 PM. And here is the kicker. We

Love the casual vibe at the Occidental. Not too big, lovely walkable/swimmable beach, very clean, pleasant staff.
One complaint - if the rule is towels on unoccupied chairs to be removed after one hour, why is this not enforced? It’s a big problem at the pool, not so much on the beach.

The activity staff are amazing and were the highlight of our 2 week stay. We enjoyed the alacarte restaurants; food and staff was excellent. But the buffet was not our favorite. Very uncomfortable chairs, steps to go up and down without handrails was difficult. Especially while carrying your plate of food.

Stayed at the Occidental Nuevo before and the infrastructure is showing its age. Staff were excellent again, especially occasionally in the face of demanding tourists. We were ale to get an upgrade on check in (prearranged). Room was clean and daily cleaning prompt and excellent. Food and table service was fine, what one would expect.Pool music was changed to fit the senior crowd, a nice move.

Guest greeter, concierge, room attendant, doorman, or a friendly gabber…

Whatever roll is played nothing but top notch, guest oriented, service matters PEOPLE at Occidental Nuevo Nayarit.

ARMANDO was the go to person during this visit. Not only did they have suggestions on activities/places to go outside of the hotel but they also genuinely inquired about the stay at the hotel as well. Whether coming or going they always had a smile and I look forward to seeing that familiar face and others when I return.

Regarding the hotel: the Barcelo line of establishments are always my go too, they never disappoint in cleanliness, customer service (the people are the best), amenities and for the price (oh, my gaw- too good)! PLUS, the locations always have the best beach service and vibes!

The room was a 6th floor Royal suite and the view was amazing! The noise level it was a corner room so no complaints- outside hotel activities go til abut 10-11pm

Remember it’s vacation for you but a normal day for the hotel so be gracious and enjoy your VACA!!
