I’ve been to many hotels in Mexico, The velas did not disappoint. As far as the resort I would go back every year. We went as a family with about 10kids total, this is a definitely older crowd who gave the kids crusties when they splash them with a ball or screamed too loud. There were a few families and the family atmosphere is great! Very accommodating to large groups at dinner and always taking care of us.

I didn’t have high expectations for this resort as we had stayed in the area previously and were let down at a neighbouring resort but Valas was great! The rooms were clean, the food was probably the best we’ve had an all inclusive, the staff was great. Would recommend!

I think what stood out the most was how attentive the staff was at every area of the hotel, from the check-in, to wait staff, housekeeping and pool attendants. Everyone looked like they enjoyed working at Velas and passed that energy to every vacationer.

Pros: close to airport, airport shuttle service was very fast and Efficient, beautiful grounds with lush palm trees and a very nice pool

Cons: service is very slow which is a little annoying but I can understand with so many guests. What is not okay is that when you go ask for something the waiter gets annoyed or upset! This really made us feel unguarded the hotel. I can see you’re busy, but when 20 minutes goes by and we haven’t even ordered, I’m going to ask if we can get some service. What else are we supposed to do?
I voiced this concern and the manger found me to apologize which I appreciated. He said it wasn’t normal and maybe we were just there during a bad week. But it’s definitely a three star hotel at best

The first room we were given had a horrible smell but they were very accommodating to get us another room which was good.
Service was not as on top of things as in the past. Appeared to be understaffed. Ordered items at meals that just never came.
Had a difficult time getting into restaurants for dinner and when we were finally seated they were out of some foods. This should not be happening.

Paid for all inclusive x2. Waiters and waitresses were very nice and with excellent etiquette, nice beachfront. Of note had $20 USD stolen from room (taken from $100 pile on top of my passport) at night. My fiance and I knew something was up when they did room cleaning both in AM and at night ~8 PM when we were out at dinner. Clearly can't trust all the cleaning staff

Overall cheap stay and very affordable, but not worth what is paid. Food was hit or miss depending on night, they really do try their best and have to commend all the waiters/cooks

I was hesitant to stay at an all-inclusive resort, but was pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty and the pool drink staff were very attentive. For the most part kids stayed in the kid pool so the adult pool was very relaxing.

My room was modern and very clean. My only complaint is that a lot of the noise from foot traffic kept me awake a couple of nights

Absolute gem of a resort. Have a family of 6 not wanting to leave.
The pool is amazing, the fish and gardens around the resort are gorgeous and very entertaining for our fish loving boys. The beach and ocean are great.

The only different thing I didn’t love at first was that there is no main big buffet, but after a couple days we learned our way around the menu for the kids and then we didn’t miss it at all.

Most meals we got were made to order, hot and fresh. Breakfast waffles, French toast, and burritos were so good.

All of the staff was OUTSTANDING, so pleasant and fun.

We really hope to come back!! Thank you for an amazing trip

This resort was a great value for an all-inclusive. Our one-bedroom suite was roomy and comfortable, the pool area was nice, and we never had trouble finding good food at the restaurants. The crepe station was delicious and a favorite stop for us. Would definitely consider staying again

The staff, the property, the rooms were amazing. Special mention for pool waiter “Roger” ,( Rogelio), who was always smiling and happy to be of service. Special mention also of Ivan, the desk clerk, Jose the bellman as well as the rest of the bellman and staff. Housekeeping, groundskeeping staff all worked hard to maintain the beautiful property. We had an enjoyable, safe and fun vacation with 4 generations in our family. The staff at Andrea’s went above and beyond to help us mark the special occasion of four generations and my granddaughter’s birthday. The nightly shows were a plus as well and we enjoyed them immensely.

Had an exceptional experience. This was our most relaxing vacation to date. Kids club was excellent with a whole day of scheduled activities- tennis lessons, arts and crafts, movies with popcorn, Disney inspired daily performances, board games, video games. The teachers made all kids feel included. All hotel staff was so kind and just seemed happy to work here. No birds or bugs to bother you because of the resident hawk on property. The adult schedule included beach volleyball, water aerobics, ping pong, yoga. We even played tennis and tried pickleball. Nightly performances in the evening- casino and karaoke, dance performances, mime show, acrobatics show. All female Mariachi band nightly at dinner. Shout out to our man Alberto who made our daily breakfast a lovely experience. We had an amazing time and will be back!

This is a nice property in a great location, with friendly and helpful staff. The resort is very clean, the pools are large, and while the beach is rocky, the pools are a great place to spend the day. There are only two restaurants, but the menus rotate daily with different themes (Italian, Mexican, Asian, etc.), and the quality was better than most all-inclusives. The Marina location is also a plus, with plenty of walkable restaurants and bars if you prefer dining off-property.

Room choice matters a lot here. Do not book a Studio—upgrade to a one-bedroom Suite. The difference is significant: nearly twice the size, plus a balcony and a view. The Studio is okay size, but it feels claustrophobic since the only window faces an interior hallway with constant foot traffic.

I would not recommend this property for couples, especially during peak periods. I visited between Christmas and New Year’s, and the hotel was nearly full, with many multi-generation families and young children (babies and toddlers). The gym was often overcrowded, and it was difficult to find shaded pool loungers. It’s a great option for families with kids, but it didn’t feel well-suited for a couples’ getaway. I’d also skip the spa—it’s fine, but extremely overpriced for what you get.

The rooms were a good size and comfortable overall, though the sofa and bed could have been cleaner. The staff was courteous and very helpful throughout our stay, which we truly appreciated. However, the dining options for vegetarians were limited, with the same vegetarian menu offered every day. Adding more game options for kids, such as a pool table or foosball table, would be a great plus. With more variety in dining, improved room cleanliness, and additional kids’ activities, the experience could be even better.

We recently stayed at **Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta**, and our experience was absolutely amazing.

Despite the resort being quite busy, the **staff were incredibly attentive** and always helpful. The **food was excellent**, with plenty of options beyond the buffet, and everything we tried was delicious.

Our kids (3 and 5 years old) especially loved the **Kids Club**, which was well-run and welcoming. The **beach access** was perfect, and the entire property was beautifully maintained. We also felt the resort was **very safe and comfortable for children**, which made our first trip traveling with little ones so much easier and more enjoyable.

Overall, it was a **wonderful stay**—we couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation. Highly recommended!

Great view from the room, amenities in the room were good.. we stayed at the 1 bedroom deluxe. There was a misunderstanding about housekeeping and room was not cleaned for a day, but it was cleaned immediately once we called and let them know. The hotel pool and kid zone was great for relaxation. Restaurants had delicious food served every day with wide variety. Room service was timely as well. Overall a wonderful experience! Will definitely visit again..

Booked last minute after another hotel failed us. Rooms are large but 90s dated but very clean and comfortable and have a large balcony. Everyone loved the rain shower which was like standing under a waterfall. Property was great as were the pools, lots of people but didn't feel crowded. We only did the reservation only dinner one night and it was pretty bad but that might have been because it was Asian night. The regular restaurant by the beach was consistently good so we had breakfast and dinner there. On Thanksgiving they had a great setup that included that restaurant and part of the beach with carving stations for turkey, ham, and prime rib as well as a bunch of buffet options. I liked the Marina location, very safe to walk around at night and despite being next to the airport we really only noticed the planes out on the beach. With a remodel this will live up to its luxury rating.

Even though it was all inclusive, and there was a buffet, we decided only to go with ordering food either in our room or in the restaurants. There one buffet restaurant and one Italian restaurant that we had to make a reservation for dinner. We tipped generously and we were treated very nicely. The only negative about this resort was the beach. The ocean is not swimming. The water was murky and gray!

The property, rooms, & amenities are nice, & there were plenty of activities to keep us entertained or occupied. Besides some issues I had with customer service over the airport shuttle service, the only thing that needs to be fixed that my whole group agreed on is the quality of the food. About 90% of all the food we ate was lacking in flavor. The descriptions sounded good & the dishes looked good, but once you bit into them, most food tasted very bland. Would go back if they fixed the quality of the food.

The food options are very limited and whatever they do offer is terrible. Only 2 restaurants, same food every day. Most is not edible. Ordered chicken tenders 3 times and all 3 times chicken was raw. The fish dishes, I can’t even say it was fish, smelled and tasted horrible. No kid friendly food. Only decent food was breakfast. Some of the waiters/waitresses had an attitude, still tipped them and not one did we no tip anyone. I had scheduled a deep clean facial. It was in what felt like a broom closet and not what I call a facial for $120 US dollars. Waste of money and time. They advertise a kids club, only for kids 4-12 years old, not younger. Only good thing was the rooms and property were clean and the pools were nice. I would not recommend or go again.

Loved the nature, well kept grounds and family friendly atmosphere. Swim up bar was closed for most of our stay for maintenance which is fine. Just not many other options on areas to get a drink. I will say something changed within the last year. The drinks especially margaritas weren't as good as our previous 2 stays. The food across the board also seemed a step below from what we were used to on this property. Maybe it was an off visit but we will be back to see. We still love this place and will be back and hopefully things will be like they used to be.
