The property itself was clean and for the most part the staff was nice. A couple of the lobby bartenders were rude and not sure why. As far as the experience here. That was a let down. The pool bar was the worst part for me. I love nothing more than swimming up and enjoying cocktails all afternoon with friends and the potential to meet new ones. Let me tell you. This pool bar was so busted! There was no music, the selection of drinks was terrible, kids are allowed anywhere in the pool, there are a ton of birds everywhere with all the trees surrounding the pool, and for the most part the bartenders seemed annoyed that they were there. I’ve been to a ton of resorts and the pool bar is usually the fun party bar, NOT HERE!
The buffet is literally the worst. Breakfast was the most tolerable. We made reservations at the taco place one night and a roach crawled across the floor. We opted to eat out almost all meals.
The spa…..if you wanna call it that. We scheduled a RELAXING couples massage. It was anything but that. The entire time we were there all we could hear was a saw and boards being cut from construction that was happening at the hotel. There was no hot tub, or steam room, only this room called the vapor steam room which was like Vicks vaporub being blasted into a hot room. I will saw that we did complain about this and they ended up comping our massages which was nice but if you are looking for a spa I would suggest going into town or maybe over to the marina.

The balcony was solid so unless you stood up you didn’t see the ocean. However we requested a change and they moved us on Wednesday to a room with a glass balcony on right on the beach. Beautiful

Melia made our first trip to Mexico very memorable!
Clean facilities, very friendly staff (helps to know some spanish), and convenient location close to the airport and Marina.
Very happy with the amazing guest services team, Hector and Montserrat were extremely helpful and excellent in making us feel welcomed and supported in anything we needed.
If you’re a tourist worried about safety, we stayed during the week of the cartel events and Melia was very safe on the hotel premises and far enough from the city and close to the airport. Highly recommend to stay at Melia or near the airport if that’s your main concern.
If you’re staying, recommend making daily reservations at Fish House and the Spa steam room. Mole y Tacos was the best place to have breakfast. Ocean view was worth it. The beach was exclusive to hotelgoers, so it was peaceful and not crowded at all. Kayak was our favourite activity. All of these were included in the all-inclusive packages.

The property was very clean, some of the rooms are a bit outdated, specifically the bathrooms but it's a small thing. They had nightly activities and a large pool, we only wish there was an adults only area but understood this is an all ages property. We loved our meal at Fish House.

All the staff were very friendly, mainly Jesus who surprised us with a courtesy at the spa when we arrived at the facilities. Clean room, great Ocean view and Family friendly. Definitely if you are looking for a hotel to vacation where the staff is attentive to your needs, this is definitely a good place to stay.

The staff were all amazing, so caring. Even in the difficult security situation that arose during our stay, they handled in fantastic and worked hard to keep everyone safe and happy. The newly renovated room in building 1 were very nice, our housekeeping lady was awesome, she hummed her way around the room as she cleaned it.

The grounds are very well kept, every day they were sweeping and washing the main walkway to the pool.

The staff were just delightful, especially the bar staff around the pool.

My only negative comment was how loud the music was around the pool, very distracting for those of us that were reading. As well, the Karaoke was way to loud, we could hear every word in our room with the patio door shut.

We only spent 4 nights here but we’re here during the recent cartel violence. We can’t say enough good things about the staff and management at this resort. They remained calm and very pleasant and accommodating in what must have been an even more fearful time for them being away from family. Many had to work extra shifts without going home since all transportation locked down and those that were working Sunday had to sleep in cots since they couldn’t leave for two days and new staff couldn’t come in! Nothing but positive comments about how clean the resort was and how great the staff at all levels were. Would definitely recommend.

This is our third time staying at Melia Puerto Vallarta, and we love it.
We had a little trouble when we got to Melia the first day, they give us a room away from our group and there was some noise because of the remodeling they had going on, after we spoke to the receptionist they give us a different room, bigger and it looked like it was recently remodeled. Great staff all of them super nice, from receptionist, waitress, entrainment crew everyone was so nice. Great food. I love Melia for sure we will come back!!

Clean room, excellent staff, wonderful grounds, we loved the turtles. Did not give it 5 stars only for the food. It was not bad per se just very little flavour except salt, we did find their pasta/omelette/beef carving stations during different meals were wonderful and had the best flavour. I would not recommend the mole y taco. So many reviews said it was great, so we tried it and everyone was let down. The pool was great, staff was always friendly and helpful. Our toilet broke (something in the back tank) and they were there within 3 minutes of our call to fix it.

Although a lot of their food is naturally gluten free, we couldn’t really be sure what we could eat and sometimes even the chefs seemed unsure. Room was good buy needed some repair. Staff is excellent particularly Eduardo at the entrance.

Only negative was check-in where we were given a room we had not requested. The man supervizing the front desk could not have been less helpful and told us that we would have to live with it until our room became available. Fortunately on the advice of a staff member, we went back to the front desk and the lady supervisor worked to solve our problem. She was terrific.

Otherwise we loved staying at the Melia.

Everything was perfect. The room was cleaned, the housekeepers were amazing by stocking our fridge each day. We found plenty of things to eat. The pool was not crowded and the service was amazing. It gets four stars because half of our party got sick after eating in the fish house have did not even though we had the same thing. I would definitely recommend going back.

The room was ground floor, which is till 6' off the ground; love that. The convenience of this for access to the pool & restaurants was perfect. The room was clean but we did have to remind the cleaning staff to replenish certain items a couple times, but they were very good and yes, we tipped them every day. The little slippers were perfect! The restaurants, all of them, were excellent. The service and staff were very friendly !!

It’s like lipstick on a pig. There are two sides in the resort. On one side the rooms are very dated. On the renovated side, all they’ve done is put a coat of paint on everything including the furniture on their renovated side. They also changed a few wall outlets to allow for more usb jacks on the renovated side of the resort. No prep work was done prior to painting. The linens are worn out and the pillows stink. The air conditioners are basically fans that stay on high. The rooms never actually reach the desired temperature.
We were moved to three different rooms. The first two smelled like damp basements. The third room couldn’t draw moisture out of the room and leaked it back onto our luggage. They need to clean the air conditioners.
Smart TV’s in the rooms but no high speed internet for streaming. TV’s still on cable even though there is wifi but the wifi was too slow.
Food was mediocre and selection was very limited. Don’t get me wrong, the food was fresh but basic. The cooking staff, servers and housemaids were great but you can see they have to work with limited resources from Melia.

The bathtub had mildew, the staff forgot to restock the towels one day, didn't restock the coffee or drinks the next day, and avoided sweeping as the floor was still sandy every time we came back. The fridge also started to leak even though we made sure it was closed properly and during one of the nights, the toilet started making an awful groaning noise and then the water was turned off to it so I had to fill up the tank with a cup from the sink in order to flush, it was back on by morning. Every time I ate at the buffet, I felt queasy to the point where I had to go to sleep, we spent a lot of time eating outside the resort so paying for all inclusive at this resort was a waste of money. The view was beautiful from our room, the grounds were kept very nice and clean.

What we liked: The Pool is great for kids and families with two big shallow ends. The staff running pool and archery activities were wonderful. Housecleaning were terrific and would come around our kids nap schedule. The gym was a good size with working equipment.
What could be better: Upon arrival staff refused to give one of our family members the same wrist band as us. despite email proof we all booked with expedia, It took multiple frustrating conversations and before staff services finally agreed. Also, we had called far in advance to request our family members rooms be close together and were told a note would be put with our booking. When we arrived staff had no record of our request and the grandparents room was on the other side of the resort. After a few days, they were able to move them to a closer room. Our final critique, for a family with a baby and toddler, it would have been nice if dinner buffet and restaurants opened earlier than 6pm. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Melia, but a few small things could have made it even better.

Front desk, staff were helpful in getting us into the resort quickly and providing a courtesy suite for us to shower leaving later in the day after checkout.

The food was in line with what we paid for the resort. It was not five star, but that’s not the price we paid and it was very good

Management took the time to check in with us to make sure everything was to our liking and that was appreciated.

Staff were excellent. Loved our cleaning lady, Elena. Quick, clean, reliable and super friendly. Also a repair needed for shower was done very quickly. Reaort had lots of activities if people wanted.

Only drawback was the food. Long before the end of 2 weeks the buffet food was not great. Needed more north american options. Asian night was good though. Would have liked to see more fresh options like the one they did a stir fry for lunch. Never saw it again.

Lighting in the lobby bar could have been a little brighter for people to play cards at.

Overall a great experience.

We love the location, the view, the resort is beautiful, but mostly it’s the people that work there. We really noticed the awesome lady who cleaned our room Hilda. She is a gem, tip her well. Fernanda greets at the buffet, a very friendly person. Miguel the day buffet mgr goes out of his way to provide one of a kind service. David the night mgr is very good as well. Every morning Gabriel would remember our drinks and bring without us ordering very impressive. When learving property Eduardo the bellman was as helpful as he could be. We got to meet the room manager Guadalupe who was most accommodating. This was our 4th consecutive year to stay here, and looking forward to number 6.

I've stayed at many resorts in PV and this was by far the worst. The food was REALLY bad. The room was just okay, nothing special, no great view. Staff was just okay. At other resorts they are very friendly, make conversation, are happy you're there and ready to help make your trip fantastic. The staff at this place, not so much. Don't get me wrong, there were a couple that were good but not GREAT like the other resorts we've stayed at. We went with kids and knew it would be geared more towards kids (that's why we chose here) but I thought there would be at least something where the adults could escape a little. The night shows were great for the kids but it would have been nice to have at least 1 night that was geared more towards adults. The chair saving at the pool is ridiculous. If you don't save a chair right away in the morning, don't plan on a chair. They say no saving but don't actually enforce it. Pool music at the pool is just annoying after a while. Again, the food is terrible lol. I could go on and on but I will not be visiting this resort again.

Let me start with the pros about this hotel. It is well-located near the marina and the rooms, while not spacious, are adequate, clean and the beds are comfortable. There were plenty of electrical outlets and they even had USB ports, which was a plus. The staff was very attentive. One good thing I can say about this hotel is that once they found out we weren’t very happy there, they tried their best to make us happy. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot they could do about the mediocre food (see cons below).

Unfortunately, there are a lot of cons with this hotel. We were sorry we chose this hotel almost the first moment we arrived. The hotel is dated, and it shows. Although the furniture in the rooms was nice and modern, the bathrooms came straight out of the 1960s. The faucets were hard to turn and the shower heads couldn’t be adjusted so the water came out it a hard jet. Water always looked dirty, which is a real turn-off, and a bit concerning. The caulking around the tub was very sloppily applied and it looked worn and dirty. It was not very appealing. The bathrooms in this hotel really, really need an upgrade. What surprised me was that there is no lighting in the hallways. I get up early when it is dark, and the halls are dark, and they’re dark when we get home late. But what really turned us off about this hotel was the food, and it’s pretty obvious that the hotel is aware of this but has chosen not to do anything about it. Room was good except the showerhead wasn't replaced well - water squirted out against the back wall not allowing much pressure. Water never got too hot. Water was dripping from the bathroom sink onto the floor underneath while used.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It did take a few hours to check into our room but it was clean and had everything needed including a great ocean view. Although it was somewhat dated, especially the bathroom. The grounds, pool and beach were very nice and well maintained. Some activities were to be had including kayaking, pool, ping pong and others. The Spa massage was a nice experience. A big shoutout to Juan who provided exceptional service in the buffet restaurant keeping our wine glasses full and Anna who was always providing the energy each day for the activities of which I enjoyed archery the most. Cheers! The days went by quickly but we achieved our escape from winter and look forward to a return down the road.

I should have made this review a long time ago (I went 2 years ago), but I'm just now remembering to as I'm considering staying here again. I loved my stay at Melia! I came to celebrate my birthday and this place was perfect. My room was always clean, the food was amazing (I still think about my daily chilaquiles), and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating — Charlie at the lobby bar was particularly kind and friendly.

I loved the variety of activities available and how beautiful the whole place was, inside and out. I'm hoping to go back very soon!

The staff was amazing! So friendly, helpful, and are hard workers.We especially liked Miguel who worked in the dining hall. The facilities are a bit old and worn down in many areas, but everything is kept very clean despite. I do have to warn that if you are sensitive to mustiness/mold, it may not be the place for you. I had some issues in our room. But I imagine most hotels in PV have similar issues due to age and the rainy seasons. A couple other positives were the beautiful location on the beach and the lovely mature foliage.

The employees were excellent, big shout out to Karen which was our server for breakfast, she was personable, professional and a pleasure to see each morning, the rooms were clean, the resort is small enough so that walking a long ways to pool, eating, etc was not difficult. There are two additional restaurants that were very good, we also had dinner at the steak house and it was absolutely one of the best steaks and lobster we have had in a very long time. I definitely would come back

The staff was very nice. The rooms were old and need to be updated. The mattress was horrible. We had a huge roach in our room, we handled it but gross. We were a little disappointed with the food. We felt that they could’ve provided better meal options. I noticed a lot of people saying they received perks with Expedia. We didn’t have any perks, so I can’t speak to that. Overall, probably won’t stay there again. Very average stay.

The staff members are very courteous. If you do not mind children then you will enjoy your stay. The property definitely needs updating. The sliding door in our room did not lock. I reported it but it was not fixed during our 7 day stay. The hotel room dresser drawers need to be replaced as they are not opening/closing easily. This is due to long wear and tear. The main buffet needs more food options. It would be much better if there was another buffet option. Right now, you can make up to 3 dinner reservations at the other 2 restaurants but I would rather not have to make a reservation and have the freedom to eat at a different buffet each night. Some resorts have 2 or more buffets with different themes so one night you can have Italian food and another night it could be Mexican food. I would like to see that the hotel get/set up a place for dancing, singing karaoke, etc. with drinks, etc. I do not like that we are always approached by timeshare sellers at this hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our 7 day stay. I would give it a 7 out of 10 mainly because hotel needs updating.
