Clean rooms, staff is excellent. Beach access and beach pool great. Pool is going to get tile repair. Food was pretty good. I upgraded. My room with no problem for a better view. Be prepared as hot water is really not a “hot” commodity. The resort is older so you do not have 5 star rating but price was very good and the staff makes up for it. Easy walk for 2 blocks to a mall and Soriano store if needed inc food , pharmacy etc. great Mexican fiesta dinner at beach pool.

Check in was amazing, we got there early and were able to check in early as well. The rooms were extremely clean, I saw how the maids cleaned the rooms and they literally took all the drawers out to have them disinfected which I found impressive, definitely above and beyond on that. The plumbing was atrocious though, had to flush way too many times and sometimes the toilet wouldn’t even flush. I also found the photos misleading of the resort making it look bigger than it was and to get to other pool you had to cross the street as the other half of the resort you leave the resort and head to a gate that wasn’t labeled well to find it. Overall I’ve stayed at nicer resorts but this one was alright.

Rooms were very clean and housekeeping was great, traditional Mexican style rooms. The pool staff were so amazing! We never had to wait for drinks and food. I had a broken leg while we were there and they were always so courteous in helping me get around and making sure I had what I needed to be comfortable. Overall resort was nice and clean, pool was perfect and the activities they had during the day were fun.

The staff was amazing even in the recent crisis Puerto Vallarta had. Do not believe everything you hear or see, most is AI garbage. It is very safe there and you will regret not going.
Pools side drinks just flow like crazy thanks to an amazing waiter Claudio. This gentleman makes you feel very welcomed from the moment you arrive to the last minute you depart but all the staff are great. Whether you eat at the buffet or book the special restaurant for dinner, you will not be disappointed.
The cons are, no fridge in your room. Lack of English channels on tv but your on vacation..haha
Need more entertainment and the night club could use a face lift and live music or better music selection.
Overall it was a very good time and we regretted having to leave and return to the snow in Calgary Alberta.

Paid for the superior king room and it was atrocious . Old raggedy towels only two . No bath mat , slipped on the way out damn near almost hit my head on the tub. The shampoo containers that were attached to the wall fell off as soon as I touched them the tub had rust around the drain. It just looked like an old nasty hotel room.
Pool had children in diapers not swim diapers . Gross and I know the difference between an and I know the difference between a diaper and a swim diaper as I have my own childrenand. A family of 6-8 brought their own boom boxes 4 to be exact and blasted their music - lovely !! Felt like I was in a ghetto condo

The breakfast - we were escorted to a private dining area claiming the food was the same as the open dining area - it wasn’t it was 1/2 of the items and not tasty !!

After a week of entertaining our guests in town and staying at the Rosita and camping, we thought that we would treat ourselves to a nice hotel but this was certainly not the place if you’re looking for a nice hotel with the ocean views cool at the ocean so you can watch the sunset. I suggest that Rosita hotel and for $100-$150 a night you won’t feel like you’re getting ripped off like we felt here. .

I really wanted to enjoy my time at Plaza Pelicanos Club Beach Resort, but unfortunately, the stay fell far short of what was advertised. The room and the resort didn’t match the photos or description. It became clear pretty quickly that the images online were from a different property. The room we were given was worn down, not very clean, and in noticeable disrepair, which was a tough way to start the trip.
We tried to work with the staff to either change rooms or check out early, but there was no willingness to help. Feeling stuck in a situation like that is never a good experience, especially when you’re hoping for a relaxing vacation.
The food was another disappointment. Even by the standards of an all‑inclusive resort, it felt below par. Dishes were left sitting out for long stretches, temperatures were inconsistent, and salads were often soggy or just unappealing. It didn’t inspire much confidence in the dining options.
The pool area also needed significant attention. There were many missing tiles both in the water and around the deck, which made the whole space feel neglected and not particularly safe.
On top of everything, the Wi‑Fi situation was frustrating. The listing advertised Wi‑Fi, but there was none in the rooms, and even in the public areas, the connection was so weak it was barely usable.
I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I think it’s important to be honest so others know what to expect. Based on my experience, I’d recommend choosin

The room was very well cleaned when we arrived, as was the resort itself. There was wifi in the rooms however it was weak in some spots but it’s no problem. The staff was lovely, the pool waiter Julian was AMAZING always was checking on us and made us feel like we were at home, he went above and beyond even when we were not in his section. Angel the bartender was amazing at making our drinks, as three young girls travelling alone he looked out for us and always made sure we were comfortable. Jesus was a great time.. hilarious! The buffet is tolerable not great if you’re used to flavourful food, the reservation restaurant was very good we went back for a second time. Overall it was great for what we paid, checked all the boxes we looked for in a resort.

Our stay at Plaza. Policano was not the best. The front desk definitely needs additional training. The guy told us that we were not allowed to eat at the pizza and snack bar at the beach with our all-inclusive wristbands, but that clearly was not correct information. Our room safe key was not provided to us day one as it was broken. We had to call the manager on the second day to get ourselves a new safe. The food at the buffet is very limited. There’s one other restaurant to eat at which requires a reservation the day of and needs to be made before 9 AM or it is booked. A small reseller with limited food options. We would not be coming back here.

Most of my two star is based on the terrible food. Very plan half the time it was cold and very basic we spent more money eating off resort just to have one good meal a day. As for the resort itself it was ok very out dated but the staff work hard to keep it clean I will give them that. Kinda odd that one pool is out of the way. I will say I was not happy with the noise way too many kids with parents that could care less because they were on holidays. I definitely got a cheap vacation so that’s on me you get what you pay for. Next time we will spend the extra money and go Adult only from now on and stay in a nicer more up to date resort. It was our first time in PV and will probably go back just not to this resort.

Terrible. Would never recommend. My sink wouldn’t drain, my toilet ran, no safe. I lost a day from my holiday because my flight was cancelled due to engine trouble. The hotel would not reimburse me st all for the day and neither did Expedia. Will never book through them again. The hotel smelled of mold badly.

Th staff was all wonderful, they definitely made the week even better for us. We really enjoyed the smaller facility. If I had one recommendation it would be to update the room. Our room had a few things that looked a little rough. We did t come to spend time in our room, so it wasn’t a big deal for our crew. The restaurant with reservation provided us with beautifully plated meals, delicious food, and exceptional service.

Room was cleaned well. Front desk and staff spoke NO to very good english. The food was ALWAYS cold. Was NOT told of various activities upon arrival, so learned 3-5 days later of things included. The music at the beach side was WAY TO LOUD, that we couldn't talk. We didn't know that the resort was cheaper for the Mexicans. There were ONLY MEXICANS at the resort. There was No security, as people would just walk off the beach into the pool area. The pool rules were never followed and when we complained, it fell on deaf ears, as they didn't speak ENGLISH. We didn't realize it was a Mexican resort!!! The noise in the evenings kept us awake will 1am. The room shower would not stay on and was fixed with black electrical tape. The wall lights over the night stands just hung off the walls. The sliding door would not either open or NOT lock. Everything seemed to be in disrepair. The toilet broke down for a day AND we had to have our Key cards reprogrammed daily as could NEVER get into our room. The buffet food was always cold. It was a total disaster and I would NEVER recommend anyone, even the homeless to stay. Waste of money.

The pictures were deceiving when we booked. A lot of photo's of the other resort. Rooms are dated, they smell musty most likely from how humid it is so it's understandable that there isn't much they can do about that. There's no mini fridges in rooms. Buffet was just ok, the specialty restaurant you needed to book in advance to eat there.
When I booked my room I booked a King bed, when I checked in they were trying to give me two double beds. I told them that is not what I booked, they upgraded me.

Pools, and grounds were kept nice. The staff were always kind and friendly.

My group stayed for 5 days from June 27th, 2025. They don't mention that there is two resorts and to get to the beach you have to walk across the road to the other resort which isn't a big problem but just know you are not oceanside at this resort. There is no wifi in the rooms. We had wifi in our room but we were on ground level and had a suite that lead out to the pools. Other members of our party had backside hotel rooms on second floors and they had no wifi. There is no elevators, so if you are up on 4th be prepared to carry your luggage up those stairs. Kids ran up and down the halls all hours of the night. Housekeeping was good, they always made sure everything was fresh and changed for us.

Our group ended up getting sick, we don't know if it was from the food or water. So just be mindful.

You get what you pay for with the price. It's not totally bad, but it's not a higher end resort.

I stayed at this hotel and had an incredibly disappointing experience. The room was excessively humid, which triggered my allergies severely. My throat was constantly itchy, and I had trouble sleeping due to the discomfort. The thermostat was broken, so I had no control over the temperature, and the phone in the room didn’t work either, making it extremely inconvenient to contact the front desk.

I spoke to two general managers about the issues. Both assured me they would resolve the situation, but nothing was ever fixed. I asked to be moved to another room, but they denied my request, claiming the hotel was overbooked and no other rooms were available.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The lack of accountability, poor maintenance, and disregard for guest comfort were unacceptable. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The property itself is pretty good for the price. The food options are limited for breakfast, lunch and dinner and many times the same food is offered at all three meals. The pools are decent. Staff is friendly. We did have a planned power outage however the hotel staff let us know ahead of time. The Tequila bar is boring however. If you are looking to party this is probably not the best place. For the Carouse restaurant which is reservation only, make sure you are there right at 7am to make the reservation. This is a decent experience, three course dinner however don’t get the later reservations because they run out of some dishes.

First off I have to say this review is going to be long. I came to the resort with my husband and two adult children. We stayed 7 nights and it was fantastic.
Victor the front desk supervisor was kind and friendly and when we had an issue with our room he helped us get a new one. He made us feel comfortable and he was a wonderful kind man. Mauricio and Juan both work at the front desk and we're extremely helpful informative and all around just fantastic.
We had two dinners at the reservation only restaurant where we met Carlos and Antonio. Talk about welcoming friendly people. We had great food, good conversation and they made us laugh. What a great experience. In the morning we had Raul often as our breakfast waiter, he was so helpful and kind, I don't think we could have been better taken care of anywhere else. In our first room we had Araceli as a house keeper and boy did she make our rooms comfy. In our second room we had Esther and she made sure I had all the coffee I needed and kept our room beautiful.
We've been to Mexico multiple times and I have to say this is the best service we've ever had.
The food all around was delicious the staff was amazing and the beach is right out the front door. The drinks were flowing and I highly recommend the bloody Marys at the pool bars. These guys know how to make you feel at home.
We had massages and pedicures and a facial when we stayed also. If you want an amazing massage ask for Miss Linda or Angelica.

Great Property for a smaller resort. You can walk right out the lobby and the beach is about 20 or 30 steps away. I was there March 1st, 2025 for one week. I saw a whale and her baby jumping and splashing around, from my beach lounger. The food was very good authentic Mexican as the resort is full of mainly locals. Not a ton of choices for the food but what they do offer was quite good. All 3 pools were very clean. Staff was very very attentive and did a wonderful job.

I was very pleasantly surprised and had a great time resettng myself.

Highly recommend for a budget friendly, authetic vacation.

El hotel nececita mucha remodelacion, la tina de baño estaba tan golpeada y oxidada que mi esposo penso que estaba sucia, no habia agua caliente, las lamparas de noche no tenian la cubierta solo los focos y no servian, dice todo incluido pero habia un restaurante que tenias que pagar, la comida del snack bar la hamburguesa para ser ecxacto me causo una intoxicacion, que perdi los dos primeros dias de mi vacaciones y estuve en cama. We got a good deal on this property and that's the only thing that saved out trip.

On our first night my sister opened her suitcase after it being in the room for a few hours and there was a cockroach in it which spoiled the rest of the stay.

It's as clean as a 3 start hotel can be so don't expect too much.

We were able to get chairs every day by the pool which was great but not much in the way of being able to sit in the beach unless you want to sit on your towel and truly I don't know if there would be a penalty for that.

The buffet was generally poor but I don't like buffets so maybe it is not bad. Certainly as we got into the weekend it was better but truly heinous on weekdays.

Don't plan to eat at the restaurants because you won't be able to get a table. They only let you reserve the morning of, and every day we were told it was full and to try again tomorrow.

Again all ok but I've learned some lessons booking all inclusive from this experience.

This is a great resort. The food was good and the location is walkable to the Malecon. The bathrooms in the rooms and in common areas need updating. There are 4 floors (100 steps) and no elevators. The 4th floor penthouse is large and the balcony is huge with table, chairs, and 2 loungers. The staff are awesome! I would stay again.

My husband & I stayed 19 days, 4th floor 1 bdr suite. The good: 2 bathrooms, amazing water and pressure, staff worked very hard to provide a good experience, Mexican sunset Festival dinner around the pool (oceanside) was incredible!! Such a lot of work by staff to set up, & the dancing stage show was fantastic! Only problem with that- was communication for that event was never highlighted or communicated to guests. Food was very good, pool gorgeous, beach accessible. There are two buildings, main reception one hosted buffet dining, Italian restaurant. Also has a smaller quieter pool with childrens pool. The not so good.. uncomfortable seating - in rooms and main area and all in need of upgrade; no WIfi except in lobby, lighting in living room and dining room suite dim and not enough; lighting in coffee shop also dim; music around the ocean side pool often at times, too loud, Ventilation in rooms also very loud. Shows every night also at same pool, also frequent and for those facing the pool.. loud. Tradeoff: fantastic views and sound of ocean waves. To compare.. we have stayed at Villa D Palmar (beautiful grounds but also dated rooms), Grand Miramar (gorgeous but inaccessible- only by car), and Hotel Mio.. very nice, but restaurant only for breakfast or poolside apps).. So tradeoffs: At the Pelicanos, great location, nice views, 2 pools, good food, great water pressure, comfortable beds and linens & especially really great staff. Bad, no Wifi, dated furniture, loud music.

I loved our stay! They had a lot of food options all day long. I loved that they had a kid pool my son had so much fun as well. In addition, I loved that we were able to access the other properties as well for shows and beachside. We loved our stay and will be back soon! Muchas gracias.

Great service, very great service. Wifi in the rooms were spotty, that’s the only thing. Plus having only one buffet and one restaurant, we seemed to gravitate to the buffet for omelettes and tacos that would be freshly made.
Get up early and claim your chairs by the beach, and be sure you leave a personal item or they will clear it after 45 minutes.

Beautiful area!! Can’t beat waking up and hearing the ocean waves! One morning we even saw a whale from our deck!!
On Expedia it says elevators and further down no elevators. There are NO elevators. And there is also not the laundry that is advertised.
The rooms were clean though a little musty, the high humidity probably makes that impossible to avoid.
It was really loud in evenings. The part near the lobby would’ve been quiet but the part we were in, had views of the ocean but also overlooked the pool where music blasted from 1pm til show time (also loud) at 9pm.
The keys constantly quit working so we’d have to walk over to the lobby.
The food was okay. Breakfast was good and the made to order egg station had the nicest lady there most days! The other meals and snack places, it was okay. Nothing to write home about but a good break from cooking 3 meals a day.
The people made the stay good. Good servers and desk people and housekeeping staff!

There is no Wi-Fi in any of the rooms. So you have to stand out in the hallway or in a common area. Just a bummer so I can't get work done laying in bed lol

The rooms are average, you have to walk across a parking lot and down to a common area to go to the beach. There's barely any chairs on the beach just so you know. The garden area is nice and aesthetic. Love the kids pool. Food is not very good and minimal options should be a two out of five star hotel

The room we were given was horrible. The bedsheets smelled like body odor, a wall had a hole as if it was punched.the bench was broken couldnt sit on it. the sink was backedup I reported it a guy came to fix it but was backed up again. The shampoo dispensers were broken couldnt use it the soap area had half of it missing/ broken. The room smelled like drainage. The dresser was broken. I would not recomend this place. I explained to them that all my friends and family were. Staying at Grand Pelicanos and they would not change our hotel to theirs and we were not allowed to be with them because we were not VIP members We could not hang out so my money went to waste staying here I am dissapointed we were not accomodated or offered any day passes to Grand Pelicanos. I checked out and when we tried to have breakfast we were unable to because they cut off bracelet I explained we were not told that after they cut bracelet we couldnt eat. They should of told us. I am never coming back.

Careful with their seafood

We only stayed there for one night out of our 9 days. On our last night and I had food poisoning. For lunch I had shrimp and evening I had mussels. Those were the two different food items that I had with my family. They stayed away from seafood and we ate the same food. Unfortunately, I suffered from eating these seafood. The food selections are okay and the drinks are great.

It was difficult to secure a lounge chair unless you wake up at 6:30am. However, the staff keeps good watch on people who leave their towels and abandoned their chairs for a long period and removes them.

Other than that the staff and location are great. We felt safe and respected there. We enjoyed tacos from the food truck there.

They tried to put us in the wrong room, twice. We didn’t get into the room we had to upgrade for until the next day, we had to upgrade because they didn’t have any rooms available for what we paid. Make sure you know what you booked and that you get it.
We weren’t given much information upon our arrival, like a map of the resort and the amenities. So we weren’t informed that the property is split in two and you have to cross the parking lot and go past the tennis courts to get to the other pool and ocean area, it’s not a big deal or very far, but we spent some time trying to find where to go for dinner the first night, as it was set up by the ocean pool for a special celebration.
The property is beautiful despite broken walkways but it’s clean and the green space is well kept, just don’t expect much from the rooms.
The shower handles and head were not fully attached and leaked, the water is rusty for the first couple seconds and our patio door frame was broken to the point the glass plane almost fell out one night and the handle didn’t exist on the outside or lock well from the inside.
The rooms do not have mini fridges, which I didn’t think was an issue, until I met a fellow guest who had medication they needed to keep refrigerated and was using an insulated coffee cup and ice cubes.
Almost all the staff were lovely and helpful….. some are not.
Overall, I would say 3 star is accurate. Not sure their pricing reflects the state of the place.

The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. My room was another story. I requested a balcony but did not have a room with a balcony until we further negotiated one. The room next to us played ridiculously loud music early morning and evening, but that really wasn't the resort's fault.my room was a long distance from the beach. Overall, the staff was the best part of the stay
