Safety was never a concern, the staff worked very hard to ensure we felt at home. The property is beautiful at every glance! Cleanliness is a top priority and it shows! One thing is for sure RIU has set the bar in terms of what a resort is & should be:) My family is looking forward to another RIU adventure!

Our stay at Hotel Riu Jalisco was wonderful and exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that cleanliness is a top priority—the rooms, pools, and grounds were impeccably maintained, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment.

The staff truly stood out. Every team member we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which added so much to the overall experience.

There’s a great lineup of well-organized activities throughout the day, along with fun nightly entertainment that keeps the atmosphere lively without feeling overwhelming.

Dining was another highlight. The restaurants were well run, with efficient service and consistently decent food. There was plenty of variety, everything was fresh and satisfying, and breakfasts offered lots of great options.

The beach is beautiful—soft, sandy, and perfect for relaxing or long walks. The ocean views really elevate the experience.

As a family-friendly resort, there is some noise—early risers (including kids up around 7:00 am) and evening entertainment—but it’s expected and never felt excessive.

Overall, Hotel Riu Jalisco offers a clean, friendly, and lively beach vacation. We would happily return!

We had a double room, very clean newly remodeled, you have your own mini bar and mini fridge filled with drinks which are restocked every 2days. They have 4 outdoor pools to choose from with lots of seating and a kiddie pool, slides and splash pad. They have total of 6 restaurants to choose from (expect wait times for the specialty restaurants) and a taco bar, the buffet is great lots of options to choose from and food was very tasty! They have beach access which is also a plus, watching the sunset or sunrise at the beach is a must! Evening shows were fun the entertainment staff definitely enjoys their roles.

There are four pools so plenty of space to lounge. No need to wake up early and place your towel. Maria- server was so sweet, friendly and very welcoming. Maria went above and beyond what was asked. I would totally stay again. One thing I would recommend for the restaurants if you don’t get in line first you will not get seated. You have to put your name day and come back later for reservation time. I didn’t really like that part because you have to stand in line 1 hour before restaurant opens.

This would have been a solid 4 star resort if my room had not been horrible and their refusal to address it. It was whispered through Facebook that this was because I booked through Expedia.

If you get room 1101, refuse it. 1102 ie probably just as bad. It’s basically in a service hallway. There is a utility closet next to it and you can feel the staff doing stuff in there 24 hours a day through your headboard. There is an actual service hallway with a door that grinds then screeches every time it’s used. You can hear in the rooms plain as day. There is a giant ventilation unit in that hallway is extremely loud. This is also 24 hours a day. There are stairs right there also. The staff rolls carts down the stairs 24 hours a day. Yes, they roll hard wheel carts down the stairs at night. This is also an employee entrance. They congregate there at all hours talking.

The food is ok. The steak place is good but hard to get into. The Asian restaurant is totally. The Italian place was just ok. I didn’t try the Mexican restaurant. The same stuff was on the main buffet, which is ok also. No variety. Breakfast was good, but no variety.

The entertainment staff are great! They do a great job evolving people all day the shows at night were really fun.

The beach is really nice. The benders are really chill and the $30 massage is excellent

Big beautiful resort for a family vacation. So many things to do on hotel grounds and by the beach area don’t even have to leave the hotel. Food is good friendly staff and a good time all around. Would visit again, and very safe area.

My daughter and I had an amazing stay February 28-March 5, 2026. From the moment we arrived we were treated with such kindness from staff; they are genuinely happy to have you as a guest. This is my third, or fourth visit to this hotel, but the first time visiting since it's big makeover. The new decor and vibe of the hotel is very fresh and natural and I was quite pleasantly surprised as I had no idea they underwent a renovation!

Our room was beautiful and clean and was close to all amenities. We enjoyed the pool bar most days as well as the beach to watch the spectacular sunsets. There were always plenty of chairs to choose from and we always had the choice to stay in the shade if we wanted.

We loved the food so much. The buffet has everything you could possibly dream of and I do have to say that the coffee, especially the Americano con leche is delicious! On one of the evenings we went to the Italian restaurant, which was such a treat. We had no problem getting in for a later reservation - we just sipped drinks and enjoyed the show while we waited, it was so fun! The food was incredible at Duomo and the staff were very polite and sweet.

Next year I plan to come back with my granbabies as they have a kids pool area with fountains and fun climbers, which I know they will love.

I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a fun, beautiful and relaxing vacation in the sun.

Nice job on the recent upgrade to the facility offered plenty of pool and beach chairs, decent food for an A/I but my steak at their specialty restaurant was like chewing shoe leather, good gym and wonderful beach. Seemed about 15-20% of patrons were families. Large property with lots of walking. Overall the nearby RIU Vallarta at the same price is a nicer resort. And if you can spend more and want an adult only option the nearby RIU Palace Pacifico has better food and better service.

This is a nice, renovated hotel that is mid-sized and family-friendly. We visited in March with ages 17-54. We all had a great time! The resort is amazing about keeping things CLEAN, the rooms are a good size and housekeeping does a great job of once/day tidying up.
The food is quite good! The buffet did a great job of keeping things fresh and hot, and was happy to make something fresh if requested. The ala carte restaurants fill up quickly!! If you want to get in on the first seating, get in line by 5:30 pm! The coffee shop near the lobby bar and the ice cream shop are perfect for snacking and mid-day treats! There are planned activities throughout the day, which can be found on the RIU app, however, there could be better announcing of them over the speakers and more engagment by the activities team to round up people to participate. While you can find the activities on the app, it doesn't give a location...They do promote the evening parties and shows pretty well.
There is no arcade, unless it is in the kids club. There are 2 pool tables in the sports bar, a ping pong table set up near the water volleyball pool, and bags over there too. There is sand volleyball daily, but no advertising for it, so hardly any players. Less than impressive drinks - small pours of alcohol, nothing high-end, but bartenders were friendly and as the week picked up, they were working very hard. Restaurant staff works very hard!!
All of the resort staff is very friendly and helpful.

My room was clean, staff were nice and attentive. Room service came everyday and made sure my room was kept stocked. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to try all the restaurants but enjoyed the food I was able to try. I was a little upset that excursions had to be bought separately, but overall I enjoyed my stay. I got a massage, got my hair braided and went horse back riding(all activities were separate from the hotel & can be arranged at the beach) I also had fresh coconut/coconut juice & mango with tajin from the local fruit vendor at the beach.

The staff was very friendly, entertainment was great. Unfortunately in the 8 days we were there, we weren’t able to experience the steak or Italian restaurant. We had to stand in line then by the time it came to us, they were either booked or didn’t have a table until 9:00, which didn’t work having a baby in our group. Also, the renovations are very nice but the pool deck is extremely slippery, saw more then one person fall.

Promoted as a family resort but very limited activities for children aged 8-12. No board games or things such as table tennis bean bag toss or basketball. Also we visited during Olympics and not able to watch Olympic events in any common areas or TV in room. Long lineups for drink and meal services. Fast check in and out. Clean room. Only complaint is that lines were long at bars. Nearly impossible to get into Ala Cart restaurants unless you stood in line an hour prior to opening or wanted to dine at 8:30 pm. They’ve added more rooms but seem like they haven’t increased space in restaurants.

They need to have Palapas on the beach for guests. Palm trees did not provide shade. The beach was a bit hard to walk on due to it slopping so much and the water was very rough. The pools were nice.

- Sin embargo, el hotel perdió mucho carisma debido a la última remodelacion (área del lobby y habitaciones muy bien, pero se perdió el encanto de la vista general sobre la fuente hasta el mar al construir el edificio en medio; falta iluminación en los jardines para recuperar un poco de vista)
- Al quitar el restaurante \"la botana\" se pierde la posibilidad de tener una comida con vista al mar. Las opciones actuales (Tacos y hamburguesas) son muy limitadas y de calidad regular. La fila para bebidas es eterna, hacen falta despachadores de refresco en esa área.

a RIU is a RIU. theyre NOT 5 star service its not 5 star food its not a 5 star resort. but its REALLY REALLY good at being a RIU and being predictable. things they do REALLY well: TACOS, theres a taco bar set up at EVERY buffet night reguardless of theme in the main buffet, hot crispy french fries (99% of the time) for a buffet, burgers available almost 24 hrs a day, mini bar, pools, bars, drink carts, smoking section, buffet ice cream, nice staff, housekeeping. things they could work on: ANY soda i could find was diet. i bought a regular coke in the gift shop and it was excellent cuz everythiing else is diet. i was originally booked at RIU jaliasco and was switched to RIU vallarta UNDER A PROMOTION FOR A BETTER ROOM is what i was told. and i had to realy ask for the better room, cuz the room they gave me view was of a parking lot and iwas not happy. so, if youre givig someone a promotion and its supposed to be an UPGRADE,dont give them a yucky view. all in all the Riu vallarta was grest, it was just what i needed.

All the staff were helpful and friendly. The whole place was spotless. The buffet had a lot of variety of food and I loved the ice cream and coffee shop easy access. It was great to have the staff walk around and deliver popsicles and fruit/veggie cups around the pools in the afternoon. Not being able to make dinner reservations on line was annoying. Beds are firm and bedding was very nice.

The rennos make everything seem brand new. Loads of seating, good service, food was decent. Put together to host lots of people in one area - it is busy but there are also quiet areas. Would give 5 stars but I think that it is reserved for yet another step above. With that said, no major complaints or issues.

it would be nice to have a lap pool open an hour earlier to be able to lap swim without kids, also having at least one pool open at night would have been nice.

food was decent overall. having a few dinner reservations would have been nice instead of waiting in line. the food was great at the restaurants though. having fewer great options is better than a lot of options but not the best however, it would have been nice to have some other food options at the 24 hour sports bar, even fruit would have been nice.
the NYE dinner was a great surprise and wonderful,
