As soon as we entered the room, it smelled very bad. The bathroom shower panel was not designed in a way where the water could stay in the shower area. Every time someone showered, the water would come out from the shower area to the bathroom. I had to put big towel on the floor to stop the spillover. The room was not clean either. The lobby was dirty. They have an excellent system of online check-in check out, they do not even provide the access code without uploading a ID card information. I only with they were equally good at maintaining the room itself. I would not recommend getting there.

Terrible first floor room had a sewage hole in the bathroom floor that had a terrible smell. Also this room ran out of soap dispenser for sink and shower and since there’s no attendant in the hotel we had to message them online. We were told someone would come by next day to investigate smell and soap but no one ever came. We were not offered to move to different room either. They only offered late checkout which we didn’t need as we had a flight to catch…

The apartment was clean enough, but needs some paint and minor repairs to the walls and bathroom. I thought we were getting a room with a separate bedroom as that was what was shown on the website. We had one large room with five single beds. The pillows were completely flat and need to be replaced. Staff communicated well and answered all my questions on the phone. The one maintenance man onsite was not friendly or helpful.

Overall was an ok property. They email you after you make a reservation. Then a few days before arrival, they email you a code to get into the front door and room. The instructions were good, but my code got me through the front door, but not into my room. On the email, there was a link for chat or call. I tried the chat, but had no answer after a minute, so I called. The person on the other end was nice and able to get the door code to work quickly. The bathroom door had a hairball stuck to it. The kitchen was nice, had everything I needed to eat, except for utensils. But given that I was a tourist, this may be the usual in Iceland? Overall, the place was a decent place to stay.

The room we had looked nothing like the photos on Expedia - very disappointing for the price-one chair was so dirty, stained and ripped that I would not let my family sit on it. Dish towel was dirty. The blinds were torn, the room had an odour the whole time we were there. Very disappointed!!!

Whether it was Expedia or the owner they were easy to work with. We had a last minute change due to an auto accident so they happily changed our room to a smaller one. Upon arrival we gained access and went into our room. The refridgerator freezer was a complete block of ice due to poor closure on the door . We contacted the apartment manager who sent someone at 9:30 pm local time and said he would be back the next day. No one ever returned. The clothes dryers wouldn’t work and finally on Thursday we ran into someone replacing a microwave and he said he wasn’t aware and put something into his phone and advised us to call in again. On Friday a lady came by and asked if we needed the fridge. We were actually using the frozen sheet of ice to keep our items cold so we said yes. When leaving on Sunday the fridge still wasn’t fixed. The hallway had thresholds were lifting severely causing a trip hazard and flooring in the hallway was separating . The general appearance of the building was less than average.

The room was decent, spacious. They don’t have a concierge, but they had support over the phone. The person was very responsive and helpful.

The room overall was ok. No hanger or drawer for your clothes. The room was decently clean, not major complain. But the room had a weird oldish smell, nothing disgusting or disturbing but slightly off putting. The water also smelled like rock salt, it was pretty strong — although tap water was drinkable and we didn’t have any issues with the taste. The shower room was pretty nice. Overall decent place, but my personal opinion, for a room that I booked 3-4 months ahead it does not match the price vs experience, it felt overpriced.

We had a room on floor 1. It was comfortable. The bed and shower/bathroom were good. It was clean. But note that this is budget accommodation with a worn headboard, old kitchen units, a bust window opener, a loose tap and a poorly secured fridge. Doubt much maintenance is done hence the cheaper price. It was in an unbeatable location, though, easy to park and just 15 minutes into downtown Helsinki. The service team were easy to contact. The cleaning team need to make sure that the lobby is hoovered. Also, the fire alarm went off on our last night. There were no detailed instructions about where to muster and guests were just hanging about in the lobby whilst one of them tried to reset the system. The next morning the system showed a fault/bleep yet no one from the maintenance team had fixed it and surely the fire alarm should be a priority. As least if all was safe we could have been emailed to say that. Limited food outlets nearby but the pizza restaurant at the Art Museum was excellent and East Gate Cafe was very good. You will find better place s to stay in Reykjavik but you'll have to pay a lot more than we did and it did suit our needs pretty well.

The view was amazing from the north (?) side. Beautiful mountains to see, as well as city view. Hotel has been renovated so everything was clean and new. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen had everything for basic cooking. Only issue was a metal panel on the outside stairwell was loose and noisy flapping in the wind but otherwise it was a great place to stay!

Room has no temperature control. You can only open the window. A LOT of people smoke though so you’re going to smell it if you open the window. So either be hot or smell smoke.

The introductory email was confusing. The email stated our room number was the code to get into the building. But that wasn't true. The first number listed was the code to the apartment, not the building. The building code number was at the bottom of the email not stating what it was for. Also, the numbers did not have # after all the codes that needed a #. It was frustrating. The apartment was neat and clean. But I could not stay there for more than a day or so. There was no fan/ air movement. It also did not have a toaster or toaster oven. There was no way of making toast for breakfast, or having a hot snack like pizza rolls. The apartment needs a fan and a toaster oven.

The apartment was clean. Water does spill onto the bathroom floor when you shower so the design could be a little better but you can always request more bath mats. The staff are very helpful and respond quickly to your emails.check in/out is very easy. If you have any issues they resolve it right away. The common areas is not well lit but the hallways to the apartments have very good lighting. They common areas do need a good deep clean but in general the apartments are ok. Close to grocery stores and ample parking.

Overall we enjoy our time in Iceland.
Positives:
The communication with the Iceland Comfort Apartments team was excellent. All the questions and concerns were answered immediately. Big thank you to Kamelia and Nikol…just to mention the names I got to personally communicate with.
The location is convenient if you have a rental car to travel…pretty close to the highway. The acces to the building and to the room is easy…no key to worry about. The room had the minimal essentials (barroom and the kitchenette). I really appreciated the washing machine and the dryer- very convenient for travelling only with Cary-ons.
Negatives:
There were days when neighbours cooked fish or shellfish- the entire building smelled not very pleasant.
The kitchenette lacks a few “musts”: a toaster would be good, a vine bottle opener is necessary, paper towels instead of cloth towels.
The bathroom was run down - the shower had no shower head holder and when showering the whole bathroom would flood- no curtain.

Our stay at this property was the only negative experience of our Iceland vacation. Upon arrival, we noticed that one of the two rooms we booked had a hole through the wall, inadequate linens (one towel for three people), and the hallways and stairwells were dirty with debris lying around. We got moved from that room to another where the TV didn't work, again a single towel for three people, and a bathroom/shower without any door/curtain/divider so the whole bathroom would get wet during each shower. The other room had no functioning stove and also no functioning TV. The hallway had mechanical equipment and construction debris lying around yet no construction actually appeared to be happening - there were no workers anywhere onsite. We did read reviews prior to booking and none of these issues was apparent. Although it is conveniently located across from a grocery, that is the only saving grace of this property.

Loved this apartment. It was clean and comfortable and it was nice to be able to cook some food... Mainly ate breakfast at the apartment to save some money. The people were very easy to get in touch with and gave us very easy directions to get there from the airport. There was some renovations going on but that didn't bother us at all. If I ever find myself back in Iceland we will definitely stay here again. It's also very close to things to do in the city.

Self-check in. Key was not in lockbox. Called customer service and they gave a different room. The code provided was incorrect, so had to call again. Thank you to the lady working in customer service as she resolved the issue promptly and it wasnt a huge inconvenience. Property is undergoing renovations on each floor, so its a bit messy. The apartment itself was clean, but there was no toilet paper holder, the faucets in kitchen and bathroom were not held in place, the shower pressure was low and it took a very long time for water to become hot. Apartment had a weird smell. Bed was comfy, good lighting, good amenities (fridge, microwave etc) quiet at night. Parked in the front, grocery store across st, 10 min drive to Reykjavik centre.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was perfect for our family and was affordable. One negative was that the building seemed to be under construction, but that really didn’t matter. And the only other negative was that the water smelled and tasted like sulfur. Other than that, it was clean, convenient, the communication was great with the host and check in and out was simple. I would recommend this place to anyone and would stay there again.

This property is under full renovation and only has a limited number of units ready. Hallways are filthy with plaster dust . If you want to be awoken at 7:15am like I was on a Sunday to the sounds of drilling and hammering this is the place for you.
I was refunded $86 by owner representative for my inconvenience. I recommend you stay away from this property

Accommodations were easily accessible and cleanly. Everything was prepared for us well before check in time and it was easy to check-in and out of the property. The only thing I’d note is that while there the location is renovating which meant our floor was an active construction zone during the day. It didn’t disturb our stay much (except for the morning they tested the fire alarm system at 8 am), but it would have been nice if the property had communicated that with us. Other than that, public transport was easy to access and the grocery store is right there. Would stay again!

We stayed here twice during our recent trip to Iceland. It was a “tale of two stays.” Our first stay was in a room with a broken bathroom door, non-functioning TV, and was noisy. Our second stay was much better. Bathroom door worked, TV worked. Nice clean and quiet room. Word of warning: The property managers will write you an email and ask for a photo of your ID and credit card in lieu of in-person check-in (there is no check-in desk or onsite staff). If you aren’t checking your email or it is filtered to the spam folder, that could be a problem. Also, the phone number they provided did not work—but they were quick to respond to emails.

Iceland Comfort Apartments is exactly what I thought it would be for the price I paid. 10 minutes from the centre of Reykjavik by car (I would 100% recommend renting a car) with free parking at front or back. Communal areas and corridors are spotless. Apartment itself quite basic though clean enough and adequately presented. Apartment we had was spacious, warm and looked north giving a good view towards the city. Bathroom a bit dated and as highlighted by others, taking a shower is a bit of an experience on two fronts - getting hot water and stopping water getting out and flooding the bathroom! Building was very quiet at night and no problems at all getting a decent sleep, though was woken early by some strange noises coming from the kitchen sink which I was advised is down to an issue with the pipes, and can’t be fixed. For us there were way more positives than negatives and, if travelling on a budget and having access to a car, then absolute stay here. If looking for something more luxurious and closer to the centre I’d look elsewhere. I would also add that this is a contactless rent and communication by email was excellent. No issues with key codes or gaining access and entry and leaving processes were seamless.

Descent stay. As we entered there was a very strong smell in the apartment as if someone just cooked a lot of spices and left. It took us a very long time and open windows to make it breathable. Hot shower was limited and the washroom too has a smell. Lights were dull.

Location was excellent however and right opposite the supermarket. The check in process was extremely easy.

We really enjoyed staying at the Iceland Comfort Apts. The area was lovely and we liked being able to visit local site. It was easy to get the #1 bus into town.

But I would recommend a bit of upkeep and a refresh to the room. The bathroom needs a stronger vent fan as it has a fung when the door is shut. Also, a the shade were ripped in places and it needs to be refreshed.

But don't let a lack of mascara and nail polish stop you from staying here. The little things can be over looked by all the positives. It's not in down town but it is close and quiet!

Pros: The apartment was a quick 10 minute or less drive to the attractions in Reykjavik which was nice. The free parking was also great. The staff respond quickly. There is a washer and dryer provided. Decently priced. Grocery store right across the street.
Cons: The apartment itself is very simple and cheap. The furniture is scratched, wobbly, etc. You only get one towel and cloth for the whole week. The shower doesn't drain very well. The walls and curtains have stains/splatter on them that could be easily wiped or washed off but minimal effort is put toward overall cleanliness, just the bare minimum. The dishes were dirty most likely from the previous tenant as well as the sponges and brushes provided, being dirty with food stuck on them. There was also very limited dishes (Ex: 1 bowl to use for a meal). The teflon coating was scraped off so metal and parts of the pan would get in the food. The floor was incredibly sticky and you would not want to walk on it without shoes, there was spilled coffee stains under our bed when we first walked into our room. It can be loud at times. The laundry option was nice but it the room is in the basement with a 4 foot tall ceiling and the room is messy. The code pad to get in the apartment is incredibly dirty and should be wiped off frequently to assure others can't figure out the code. I would rate this place a 2.5/3 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for super clean or luxurious, this is not the place for you. Overall, an ok stay.

Great location ( having rental car) 10 minutes to downtown and all shops/mall/attractions. Easy process to check in and out. Amenities were very outdated like microwave, tea pot had a crack. Silverware was very limited with only 1 knife that was only good for bread. Shower curtain needs to have some weight on the bottom to prevent it flying all over you while showering.

This is my third time staying here ! But this time I book superior Apartment with balcony . The View facing the water very nice . Much space . I like this type of room . The house keeping is very nice . Will come back if I visit Reykjavik again !

No frills apartment with four twin beds. Great for us 4 guys traveling Iceland. No reception, but a code to get in the door and to get the key.

« Kitchen » is very very small with no space to prepare food. Children bed was left after previous visitors and reduced the already small space in the apartment.
Very good location. Grocery close by. Free parking.

The stay was OK. We didn't read the directions for getting in at the time of booking. So this became a bit of a problem for us when we did arrive. Fortunately we had a laptop and we were able to email management for the entry codes. Room was comfortable and clean. Although a window was open and we were unable to close it because it was electronic and the device broken. The kettle also leaked. We advised management by email and they thanked us and told us that both had been fixed after our stay. Prompt service for the next visitors!

We checked into a dirty room full of food boxes, unmade beds, etc. The next room we checked into was ‘clean’ but had stains and holes in the sheets. The building was in need of upkeep, as were the rooms.

Clean, good sized property. Exactly what we wanted and what we were expecting.
Great shops, restaurants and points of interest all nearby/next door.
Free parking outside.
The only thing we did find difficult was the heat. Summer in Iceland so to be expected but it was an uncomfortable heat in the apartment compared to anywhere else as we were on the 3rd floor, windows open but there were only 2 small high up ones. Especially when you needed to shut the blinds and curtains to block the light at night time there was just no air. Provision of fans would have been appreciated but we didn't know where to ask.

A nice stay, but requires some careful planning

The apartment itself was fine for the one night we needed it. However, we did not receive the email from ICA detailing how to enter the apartment. This was a very stressful half an hour, figuring out how to reach ICA in an 'emergency' on a Sunday in a foreign country. Eventually, we did figure it out and, as I said, had a good night stay. The apartment was very hot when we walked in...it was July and the heat was still turned on. With opened windows and patience (there is no A/C), it cooled down to a comfortable room. Finally, this location in Kopavegur (a suburb south of Reykjavik) is commercial. It was very convenient having a food mart and a Subway restaurant next door. But, there is traffic noise (and, like I said, we had to keep the windows opened).

First, the instructions for entering the building were in error. The code as provided did not work and it took us and five other guests to figure out the code, as their instructions were no better. Second, we spent ten minutes trying to get the key to open our door. Including a call to management, which was only a recording telling us to call during business hours. Weekdays. It was Saturday. We did not get any responses to any inquiries till a complaint to Hotels.com was submitted. The response came the next day. The response asked whether we tried to call, as someone always answers the phone. No, they do not.
We stayed in two different rooms during our stay. At the first, the heat was set to broil. Valves were adjusted to no avail. The window had to be opened to achieve any comfort, leading to excessive street noise. The second had no heat at all, and the valves had no knobs with which to attempt adjustment.
The shower plumbing leaked and tried to flood the floor. Cannot say whether the kitchen equipment worked, as fines for accidentally setting off the smoke alarms are exorbitant. We did not use the wifi so I cannot say whether or not it worked.
On the minus side, expect no management help for any problem, expect problems with heat, doors, instructions, and issues with clean/operational bathrooms.
On the plus side, beds are serviceable, the refrigerators work, and it has a kitchen if you are willing to chance it. Location is good if you have your own vehicle.

Everything at the place was fine - check in went smoothly - they email you the entrance codes and locker codes. There are amenities close by - grocery store and a (halal) shawarma place across the road!

The only issue was that the tap water smelled strongly of sulfur and hence made the experience unpleasant. I usually would not make an issue of this, however, other places we stayed at in Iceland did not have this issue.

I stopped in a basic apartment, the apartment itself wasnt to bad. The water had a really bad smell which being heavly pregant made it difficult for me to have a shower. The shower was clean but very rusty.
No tea bags but there was coffee.
On the bed sheets there was drops of dried blood, only one or two drops on the duve.
Beds were confy enough.
Couldnt control the temp in the room

Great location only a few miles outside of downtown/city center. There were 4 in our group and we had a very large room witth 4 twin beds- had a small kitchenettes/referigerator/coffee maker/toaster.

Nice little apartment

This was a self check in hotel. Made for a little confusion at times since we received multiple emails with different room information however we were able to check into our room easily enough. We had some issues with the power going out and had trouble finding the breaker panel, however staff was very quick to respond through email and assisted us to get power back on quickly. Otherwise the room was clean but nothing fancy. It was great having the little kitchenette and a grocery store right across the street. Definitely helped save money with some budget friendly meal options using the kitchen.
