My experience there was tainted because of an unprofessional and unfriendly clerk. Really, really bad experience.
The building is run down, and the rooms are not well-kept. Some of the stains on the rug were really bad, the bathrooms smelled bad and the temperature of the water on the showers was impossible to regulate.
I am sorry to provide a negative review but it was not worth the money - plus the advertisement in Expedia says that you pay what you see, but once I got there the city tax was added.
If there is something positive, I can say that the breakfast (15 more euros) was ok, and the location too (but there were other cheaper and better hotels in this neighborhood too).

Rooms do not have AC. There were no fans, either. The room got really hot in night and it was hard to sleep. Also, it will help if they leave some sheets in rooms, either. The price was on par of US hotels, although the facilities and amenities were very inferior to states.

Very clean room. Great breakfast. Great location. Not air conditioned so consider the time of year and outside temperature. I choose this hotel for the location, because my hotel of choice wasn't available. Easy walk to local dining and shopping. Few blocks from Nolendorf subway station.

The room smell like urine, there are people smoking pot in the stairway. The front desk lady had terrible breath and smell like VO. It was a hostel. It’s not a hotel unacceptable that they are presenting this as a room and a hotel we ended up staying somewhere else, they were charging us $300 a night

Not too sure on this one.

Hmmm interesting place. Quick check in and earlier too which was great. Very thankful for that. But it's a very dated hotel, not like the balcony pic being advertised. Lots of 'modern' art to try mask how old it is and it just highlights it more than masks it. The queen bed is still just two singles pushed together and 2x single duvet covers. No kettle in the room? (Might just be a british thing?). Room on first floor, you can here the reception constantly. Even when people are not checking in, there are people talking loudly at reception all the time in the morning. Really annoying if you've had a late Berlin night and want a lie in. I would not pay the 18euro fkr breakfast, not worth it at all, plenty bear by. Dry scrambled eggs and cheap sausages, no fresh fruit and bad coffee. Great location though, would maybe stay again, not too sure. Would look for other stuff first.

Excellent value for the price we paid

The hotel is located in a very nice area, with a supermarket on the first floor. I read some reviews about the carpet not being cleaned. And that is true, that carpet needs a cleaning ASAP. But I won't give this hotel 4 or 3 stars because, for the money I paid, I got a very fair value. And I am sure the management will take note of the carpet when they will read this review. However, since the hotel was not full, we got upgraded to a bigger room, with a couch on it, so I would like to thank the staff for that. We will return to that hotel when in Berlin.

The ad pictures are not the same as the room

The room that is shown in the picture is not the room that you will get. The room that you get won't be as clean looking or modern. The room that I stayed in was old and the carpet was dirty. So dirty that I had to wear slippers the whole time. The WiFi was good though and the bed was clean but I would not book this place again in the future.

A group of us stayed at the Ambiente Hotel as we have done before. It is well located and is reasonably priced. Only managed breakfast one morning but if cheese and cold meat isnt your thing you arent missing anything. Tea/coffee making facility is all thats missing and thicker walls would have been nice.

Trip was amazing, the location is accessible to the city. The room was clean and People were accommodating. Except for one person who was on duty this morning June 22, we had our breakfast at around 640 AM because we are checking out at 7 to catch our flight. The guy informed me that breakfast should be at 7 AM and he was kinda rude, the way he said it and the tone of his voice is super unfriendly. He could have been polite since he knows we are tourists and he should be thankful enough that there are people staying at their place so he can keep his job. The management must look into this so that people will come back for repeat visit and even recommend the hotel. But if not, it people will be disappointed on their service and wont recommend the hotel.

Only room to avoid is 109 over the goods entrance to Pennys supermarket and their deliveries. All other rooms are great.

Arrived to be told there was no room due to a flooding. Despite spenfing 28 euros in taxi from airport was told there was another hotel but we had to make our own way there. Another 10 euros in a taxi. Hotel did not bother to contact me to let me know but instead I am out of pocket and had to stay away from where supposed to be. Bad experience from all involved in this booking.

3 day break in Berlin.

Hotel Ambiente is located conveniently for all of the sights of Berlin. The underground station is nearby as are bus stops. One ticket buys you the underground and the buses. It is cheaper than London. A lot of the sights are within walking distance (provided you are fit). There plenty of fast food places near to the hotel were food is cheap and filling. My wife and I were particularly impressed by the falafel take away which charged less for a full meal than a sandwich in London. Also try the Impala cafe for good coffee.

The location of the hotel was perfect. Close to various places and not far from the city central district.
The service was good. My only issue was the room itself. The towels were pretty worn out, so kind of a disappointment. The images from the hotel online showed I was going to be given a rooms with a balcony and bigger bed then what i had. Typically I don’t mind the size of the bed but when I slept I kept on hitting the bed frame at the end of the mattress. Apperently I was too tall for the bed. So, tall people beware. I ended up placing a towel at the bed frame and that helped. But that’s a minor thing I can live with. It was just a surprise when I arrived.
The breakfast was great though. A good selection of Meats and cheese and other breakfast options.

Definitely a \"Bring Your Own Pillow\" place. Pillows were complete trash. Bathrooms are rather cramp, especially the shower.

But good for the price! Location is good. Breakfast in the morning is amazingly convenient. Staff is friendly.

I booked a room here based on the price and location.
It was only afterwards that I read a negative review on Expedia so I was worried it might not be great, However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean and bright with touches of contemporary art. The rooms were clean and comfortable and everything worked. The staff were very nice and friendly and helpful. I would stay again and recommend to friends.

It was an ok room.... not at all what it looks like in the picture. this is a no frills hotel but convenient for a day of sight seeing in Berlin. It's near a metro (U) stop, if you're not driving. Bed could be better. It seems like the pull out bed was much more comfortable than the real beds! Walls are very thin, so you can hear people next door! Breakfast was a typical European breakfast; hard boiled eggs, cold cut meats, cheese, yogurt and bread (coffee was horrible :) Although limited, there's a parking garage under the hotel. The neighborhood was also good. Near lots of restaurants and right downstairs is a grocery store! I must say though that the staff were nice, friendly and cordial.

The Ambiente is in a very nice residential neighborhood, about a 3 minute walk from the nearest bus stop. If you need to be in this neighborhood, this is an excellent choice. Very clean, friendly staff, good breakfast including meats and eggs.

Don't stay here!

Manager is very rude and will not answer email nor make adjustments, so be comfortable with not having any issues, because if there is a problem, it's unlikely to be addressed. We indicated we would arrive between 4-5. We arrived shortly after 5PM and one of our rooms was not ready -- we were told there was a broken pipe that required repair and that we'd have to wait at least 2 more hours. This was problematic since we were traveling with young children. I also noticed that they had put extra, unneeded beds in two of the rooms (roll-aways) and that we'd been charged for them. I told the man at reception that these were not needed and asked that they be removed so that we'd have more space and so that the beds weren't laundered unnecessarily. He told me that he did not have authority to change the price so he told me to email the manager which I did immediately. My email was not answered, although it was received as I verified upon checking out two days later. I reserved and paid for three rooms - they certainly could have tried to make me happy, but no! Furthermore, the \"smoking\" area is on the balcony right outside the rooms they put us in, so my children were awakened all through the night by smoke billowing into their room and people talking loudly on their phones. We would not recommend this hotel, nor stay here ever again.

Bad Experience with Ambiente

The room didn't have a tub like promised on the description, we were told some rooms do (rooms with more people) and some don't and that the description on the site was general, but that was entirely not true as the description I was referring to was on the specific room type that we took.

Also the room didn't have AC, but that was our fault for not checking, but they also didn't have any ventilators, and the fridge was not working either, to add to everything.

Brilliant hotel in a lovely neighbourhood

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights on a sightseeing holiday and the hotel was absolutely brilliant. The staff upon arrival were really friendly and helpful, and the room was nice and big. The heating came on really quickly and warmed the whole room up beautifully, which was perfect seeing as we stayed in February! The shower in the room was good and fairly powerful, which was great. The bed was really comfortable, although the only thing we could find fault with in the whole hotel was the pillows, as they weren't very comfy and sometimes meant we didn't get the greatest nights sleep. At breakfast time, there was loads of food on offer which was fantastic as it meant you could pick and choose each day, and you could eat plenty to prepare you for a busy day of sightseeing. When we checked out, we were really pleased that the hotel allowed us to leave our luggage, as we weren't due to fly until later that night and we didn't fancy dragging it round the city with us. In addition, the hotel was a few minutes' walk away from a U-Bahn station, which had 4 lines serving it, so we never had any trouble with transport. Overall, the hotel was great, and if I ever return to Berlin I'd certainly stay here again!

I stayed at the hotel with my husband and two other couples. For the price we paid, it did not meet our standards. The location was fine, a few mins walk to the nearest station and you could rent bikes to ride to the centre. Breakfast was fine as well, the basics were there, and it was nice to have that included. The main disappointment was the quality and cleanliness of the rooms. A few of us received stained towels, and I put my towel in the shower to be exchanged, and never received a new one for the next day. The flooring in our bedroom was old and caving in, our mirror was stained with gunk that I thought would be cleaned, but never was, and the mattresses were thin and uncomfortable, leading to a restless nights sleep. For the awards the hotel was advertising, I was quite surprised by the quality and cleanliness - or lack thereof.

Das Hotel ist ordentlich aber einfach. Unser Zimmer in der 2. Etage (Familienzimmer) war sauber, geräumig und ausreichend für 4 Personen. Das Zimmer war innerhalb des Hauses eher ruhig. Geräusche von draußen waren bei geschlossenen Fenstern abgedämpft.
Das Bad ist einfach, ohne Fenster, mit Dusche und Lüftung. Es gibt Seife, Duschgel/Shampoo und natürlich Handtücher.
Der Frühstücksraum hat was von Kantine, ist zweckmäßig ausgestattet und das Buffet hat eine standardmäßige Auswahl an Speißen und Getränken auf einfachem Niveau.
Die Lage ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmungen. Die Umgebung ist ausgestattet mit Supermärkten, Restaurants und kleinen Geschäften. In unmittelbarer Nähe gibt es Anschluß an den ÖPNV.
Einiziges MANKO bei unserem Aufenthalt: Das Nichtraucher Hotel hat einen Raucherbereich, der sich auf der Aussentreppe/Fluchtbereich auf jeder Etage befindet. Dieser war nur leider direkt vor unserer Terrasse/Fenster und unser Zimmer roch bei Ankunft sehr nach Rauch. Die Sitzmöbel direkt vor unserem Fenster wurden von den Gästen und dem Personal genutzt und so war auch die Privatsphäre etwas eingeschränkt. Lüften konnten wir nur am Abend und wenn niemand rauchte. Nach 23Uhr mussten wir andere Gäste bitten leiser zu sein. Nach Beschwerde an der Rezeption wurde unserem Anliegen nachgegangen und etwas besser. Das Reinigungspersonal war nicht freundlich aber an der Rezeption. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war völlig angemessen.

Zimmer direkt gegenüber der Rezeption.
Zwischen Tür und Zarge Spalt, so dass man jegliche Betriebsamkeit auf dem Flur mitbekommt. Kein entspanntes schlafen möglich. Da zwischen Zimmerflur und Zimmer keine Tür ist und auch die Badtür einfachste Ausführung ist, hört man die ganze Zeit ein unterschwellige Rauschen von der Lüftung. Bett war frisch bezogen. Matratzen waren auch ok.
Tiefgarage hat eine sehr enge Einfahrt. 20Euro pro Nacht ziemlich teuer. Für Transporter keine Chance. Innenhof war schon voll. Sehenswertes in der Umgebung - 2 Supermärkte und eine Tankstelle.

It is not as expected

The hotel does not look as on the pictures. The building is old and it needs renovation. The carpets are old and needs replacement. Especially halls seems not very clean. The hotel management is not very supportive. The heating is woring well. The garage is the advantage of the hotel.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable, lumpy pillows. Very old and warn out carpet in the room. There was no outside access directly from the room as it seemed from the booking but it was at the end of the hall. To access the hotel at check in nobody responded to the bell and we got in only when a person left so the door was opened, then we waited about 5 minutes for someone to appear at the reception desk. It could have been a one off, but as a first impression, it wasn't great. The location is great, we didn't get the breakfast so can't comment on that.

Hotel così così! Camere non moderne, andrebbero riviste (anche se per la tipologia di hotel, forse sono appropriate). Antipatico, molto antipatico, aver dovuto aspettare circa 20min che qualcuno venisse a darci le chiavi essendo stata lasciata chiusa la reception per così tanto tempo. Essere ancora vincolati alla chiave tradizionale, tralaltro una sola per una stanza da 4. No, per me non va bene. La zona, per chi vuole stare in quel quartiere, è perfetta. E' tranquilla, si trova parcheggio. Da quel punto di vista nulla da dire.

Der Wunsch nach ruhigen Zimmer wurde leider nicht erfüllt . Zum Fenster raus war ein Bolzplatz wo bis 22:00h gebrüllt und Fußball gespielt wurde. Morgens um 6:00h, kam der Penny LKW und hat erstmal 30 Europaletten unüberhörbar abgeladen - herrlich . So hatte ich mir das gewünscht…
