It is in a great location with good transport connections.

The staff were really helpful and very approachable. Nothing seared like too much trouble which is a nice touch.

The breakfast was really good, with a good selection of cooked hot food, a good cold selection, plenty of fruit and pastries too. The coffee was good with a good selection of alternative teas.

Will be my go to stay on my next trip!

The room was nice and spacious and generally presented well but there were a couple of things that concerned me such as the dried up milk pots and graffiti on the wall.
I would also say the hotel need to consider getting better pillows and bedding as they were just too flat.
Shower was good, plrenty of hangers in the wardrobe and working fridge.
TV reception was a bit ropey.
Bonus was the heated floor.

The Riu Plaza Hotel in Berlin was a major letdown from start to finish. Construction everywhere, a cold and uninviting lobby, and cheap‑feeling fixtures made the property feel more like a budget hotel than anything approaching four stars. The hallways were dirty, with crumbs and stains that made me question when they last bothered to vacuum.

My suite didn’t improve things. The water closet smelled like raw sewage — truly unbearable — and even after reporting it, nothing was done. The mattress felt more like a medevil torture device, and the climate control had a mind of its own both contributing to some of the worst sleep i can remember having.

Staff weren’t rude, but they were far from helpful, especially when I asked for recommendations. Overall, the hotel felt neglected, cheaply furnished, and completely misrepresented by its rating. I was relieved to leave after three nights.

Extra seng var virkelig dårlig. Den var i stykker og man kunne mærke metalstellet igennem madras. Den ene bruser virkede ikke. Vi påtalte begge dele, men hotellet reagerede ikke på det.

Morgenmaden var god og i restauranten var personalet meget søde.

The staff was professional, but the room was much louder than we requested. The showers were not properly regulated — the water temperature kept fluctuating between very hot and cold. It clearly needs maintenance. There were no amenities and barely enough towels. We will reconsider staying here in the future.

I had a great stay at the Riu hotel. The staff was super kind and it had such a beautiful layout. My only issue is that they do not have a microwave on the premises. I wanted to heat up some food, I had from earlier and was told by the front desk that they are not allowed to heat up food for guest & don’t have a microwave around. I don’t see the point of having a refrigerator in your room if there’s nothing around to heat up your leftovers. Also, The rooms only come with one little thin pillow per bed. I did sleep good at night. But if you want to lay in bed for a bit and chill, the pillow becomes an issue. Other than that, everything else about the hotel is great. Convenient location within a 5-10 minute walking distance to stores and restaurants.

The staff were warm but not overly friendly, the location is superb, the rooms though are in desperate need of a revamp. After a 19hr travel day I just dropped my bags off in the room and went out. I got back to my room late that evening, showered and hopped into bed. The next morning I woke up and noticed a dried blood stain on the other side of the bed which I did not sleep on. The curtains as well are falling apart. I spoke to the front desk about, and nothing happened.

We had a Great stay! 9 people in 4 rooms, and all worked out perfectly!
Breakfast was A+, with cook in the buffet, with fresh egg, scrambled, boiled and fried, fresh fruit, bread and cookies. It all left nothing left to wish for.
Cleaning of the room daily, new towels on request; we had a good stay!

The property and accommodations were great but I cannot say the same for the staff.
Front desk should warn guests that cleaning staff will let themselves into your occupied room way before check out even approaches. Starting at 8 am a male staff let himself into our room before we could even respond to his aggressive knocks on our door. We were all still in bed. The second time was at 10 am when my mother was in the room alone in bed and that same male did the same and let himself in again.
He did the same again at 11 am.
Upon checking out I notified the front desk who merely said they’d talk to the cleaning staff about it.

Thr first room I got had a broken minibar fridge and the room thermostat dif not work.
I went down to reception and wanted another room. I had to talk y 4 person and the femal manager questioned my need for another room several times. That was very bad service from the hotel. Beside that the hotel is nice and after I got my new room everything went fine. Bar service was very pleasent and the cleaning was great.
However the attitude in reception was very bad when I wanted get a room that all was working in. Better to do proper maintenance instead of arguing with customers.

This hotel is the epitome of faux-luxury. The exterior promises glitz and glam, but the inside delivers cheap finishes and poor service.

The beds felt like cardboard, and the pillows could have passed for folded IKEA towels. The rooms are clearly overdue for renovation—paint was chipping off the walls, the gym equipment was broken, and the thermostats were unreliable at best.

In my first room, the thermostat didn’t work. I followed the posted instructions, only to discover around 4 a.m. that the “cool” setting was blasting heat. I woke up drenched in sweat, went downstairs, and the front desk staff confirmed the thermostat was broken. Unfortunately, he said nothing could be done until a manager arrived at 9 a.m. I ended up crashing in a friend’s room.

At 10 a.m., the manager finally offered me a new room—which I appreciated—but that thermostat was also broken. Thankfully, after some trial and error, I managed to get it to work. I asked for a refund for the first night and still haven’t received a response from management

Positives: The location is excellent, especially if you’re LGBTQIA+, as it’s right in the heart of the rainbow district. Great restaurants nearby, and the food at the in-house restaurant was genuinely good.

Rating: 2.5 stars.
The location and food are saving graces, but the rooms—between the busted thermostats, uncomfortable beds, and peeling paint—were trifling. I could’ve handled the heat issue (I’m a Southern American), but not those beds and pillows

The hotel doesn’t provide room service.
If you need anything, the staff don’t bring it to the room, but you have to go down to reception and have to get it.
For example, there was no iron and board in the room. I called reception desk and they told me to get down.
The hotel should indicate that they don’t do room service!

The location of the property is excellent and the staff provided a very good level of service.

The shower floor was for some reason very slippery (dangerously slippery). Reception also told us that it is the case with all rooms. However, housekeeping provided a mat on the shower floor, as soon as we pointed out.

This hotel is only 5 minutes walking distance from the huge shopping building Kadewe, the main metro/train station.
It's on one of the main street of Berlin so it's safe for late nights.
The room is clean. There's coffee and tea with an electronic kettle available in the room.

So booked this for a family of 3. The bathroom had no door, the shower was see through glass. I complained they said the superior room was like that. Expedia failed to mention this on the description. I wanted to change room. They had no other room available. The mini cooler was broken. For a renowned Riu Hotel this was unacceptable. Felt like a 3* hotel. Won’t be booking again!

Nice hotel and nice room but strange that there is no doors to the bathroom in a family hotel.
If you take a shower you are not able to close a door, why?
And the staff at the breakfast must get paid depending on the amount of plates they pick. The most stressful breakfast I've had, trying to hold on to my plate.

But overall a nice hotel. Modern and stylish rooms.

Really enjoyed my stay here! The room was amazing so large and the hotel was very nice! I stayed in the suite with the king bed and futon with my two girlfriends and we were suprised when the bathroom had no door and was in direct view of us so that was a bit awkward so something to keep in mind depending on who you are staying with. As well as the laundry service prices are ridiculous 4.50 euros PER underwear…. And the breakfast is 25 euros for a very basic buffet, you can get cheaper and better food at any cafe nearby. The location of the hotel is amazing walking distance to shopping,food, train station ect. Overall, I would recommend staying here and would come back if I was ever in Berlin again!

This upscale property gets everything right…well trained, friendly staff, comfortable, well-maintained rooms, and a great location! If there is one thing they could work on it would be to upgrade the WiFi speed! I highly recommend the RIU Plaza if you are staying on the western side of Berlin!
