We really enjoyed the hotel’s modern design and cleanliness, and the staff. The main drawback is the location. It is located in a Muslim residential area on the outskirts where we felt a bit out of place. Because of the local street atmosphere and the distance from the center, we didn't feel comfortable walking back at night. OK stay if you don't mind commuting or staying in a Muslim neighborhood, but not ideal for those who want to explore on foot.

Small room, but big enough for me as a solo traveller. Excellent shower. Only problem was that the room was too hot (26.7 degrees). Staff suggested I run the a/c overnight but it only brought it down to 25 degrees. Staff were thinking of moving me, but were fully booked, so not an option. All that said, I like the hotel, it is quirky and very convenient for me to Rotterdam Central station.

Unfortunately we checked out early due to damp and mold in two of our rooms (room 111 and 214). I would avoid at all costs.

Positives: 5min from Rotterdam station. Some people might find it a quirky hotel and appealing because of this. But I totally disliked it.
Negatives:
1. No lift so you have to carry cases up many akward steps. 2. Mold and damp in rooms. 3. No ventilation as windows didn’t open. 4 Breakfast only had a continental option. 5. Unhelpful staff. 6. When the room upstairs showered or used the toilet, it was like the sound of Niagra falls in my room. 7. No soundproof, if person upstairs moved about it was so loud.

A sincere thank you to Staff and the helpful Manager for assistance with logistics and timing. HNH Rotterdam has comfortable basic accomodation at a reasonable and fair cost. The decor was pleasantly surprising and featured a variety of creative designs. Located close to Rotterdam Central Station makes it convenient to access from local trains.
I’ll definitely try booking here again.

Absolutely awesome stay! This is by far the most quirky place I’ve ever stayed the rooms are small but very cool, nice and clean, excellent location right near the station and a very lovely team of staff, I fell ill on the last night of the stay and they organised a late check out for us, so I could stay in bed until needing to go to the airport!

The location was very good only a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal train station. The decor in both the room and common areas was quirky but this was expected from the photos online. The breakfast was reasonable but the location layout meant that there was limited seating adjacent. The staff were really friendly. However my main criciticism was that I had an issue with my door lock which at one point I was unable to open the door or even get the key out. I left it with the evening staff person whilst I went for an evening meal. When I returned I somehow managed to open the door with difficulty but left it unlocked overnight in case of any further issues. Apparently she tried to report this to her manager whilst I was out but could not get hold of him. I don't know if there was a spare alternate room as I was not offered one but thankfully this was my 2nd night of 2.

Service upon check-in was excellent. The room was decent and very clean. I loved the personal welcoming note on arrival. It may be noisy at times due to all the wood, but I had a wonderful sleep. Very conveniently located near the station, so good for an early train.

For the price it’s what I expected. Staff are never at the front desk and always have to press a button. This is both inconvenient and unsafe. Lots of stairs and was unable to use the lifts. The decor is funky and unique for sure but a little worn out and the room itself was as bare and basic as can be.

Interesting place to stay

An interesting place to say, quirky to say the least. I stayed 3 nights and slept very well. Only issue was room is not serviced daily, but you can request additional towels etc. Nice to have access to free coffee in the morning. A big plus for me was the proximity to the train station and quiet location. Staff were all very helpful and welcoming

Excellent Location: Just a 5-minute walk from Rotterdam Centraal Station — very convenient for travelers.

Unique Common Area Design: The lobby and shared spaces have a creative, stylish design that stands out and adds character.

Cons:

No Elevator & No Assistance with Luggage: There is no elevator, and no staff were available to help with luggage. This could be difficult for guests with large suitcases or mobility concerns.

Plumbing Noise Issues: There was a loud noise in my room every time someone flushed a toilet, possibly due to piping problems. This was especially disruptive at night.

Breakfast Not Worth the Price: I didn’t purchase the €15 buffet breakfast, but I saw what was offered — and honestly, it didn’t look like it was worth even €10. I’d recommend skipping it and finding better options nearby.

Unexpected Extra Tax: Although I paid CAD $24 for taxes and fees through Expedia, the hotel charged me an additional €9 (for two nights) as a separate city tax.
I tried to dispute this with Expedia, but was told that the $24 did not include local city taxes. I was not happy with the explanation and want to warn others booking through Expedia — be aware that extra charges may apply upon arrival, even if it seems like all taxes are included upfront.

I wokeup with insect bites in all part of my body, arms, legs, hands, neck and shoulder. I am allergic and the are all red, itching and with small blisters. I had to take steroids and antihistamine. Beware!

Didn’t know what to expect. The promotional pictures are fairly accurate in visually describing what you get. We were intrigued and willing to experience the “Not Hotel” … which is a fairly apt description.

The hotel is very close to the Train station, clearly a positive and is visible when you exit the station and walk a few meters. The non existent lobby seems cramped and comprises a check in counter, snack shop, and morning breakfast buffet. There are several areas where you can eat. Many of the rooms seem to be lofts converted from high ceiling warehouse space. Our room had no external widows but had a small balcony that opened onto an internal seating area. Cute, but not practical. The stairs to get to the room are steep and narrow and awkward if you carry any larger pieces of luggage.

Our room was small but ok given the location but had many sloping ceilings that required careful movement so as not to hit your head, particularly at night. There was a nice shower with good hot water. Wifi was weak and interrupted at times.

All told this was a nice experience, and good for a one night stay, but impractical and overpriced compared to other comparable accommodation in the area

The property had a power issue for two nights in a row in half the hotel. This meant that the electricity wasn't working in my room. For two different nights, it was 30 plus degrees all week. The hotel had no fix for it the night of or the night after. They also didn't have any options to even bring a fan up to my room so that I could sleep properly.

This is not your average hotel stay. The property is made up of a handful of funky rooms, each with a specific theme. Some have a shared bathroom, but we reserved the Coo-coo clock upstairs room with a private bathroom. Suffice to say, this is not for families or for those with heavy luggage. There are stairs, lots of them, so be prepared. Once we made it to the room, we noticed that it had no television. Oh the horror! I suppose it is because the rooms are so small and close, a tv would make too much noise. The bed and table were bolted down, and walking space was tight. We did have a balcony, but I didn't feel comfortable walking on it sunce it was wooden and felt unstable (that is just me). On a positive note, it was very quiet all night and the staff was super friendly and accomodating (I asked for a blow dryer and was given one at the front desk-- don't automatically expect one in the room). Oh, and it was around the block from the train station which was the best part.

Amazingly decorated place, nice room, simple but spacious and good bed, staff super helpfull: they went over and above making me an early breakfast to catch the train. Thai restaurant that is part of the hotel is awesome too.

Room itself was extremely unpleasant to stay in due to terrible damp/sweat smell, like this in all the ‘party’ rooms, so known the reception had a spray fabric ready as they are aware. No option to swap rooms - unacceptable for price paid. No option to have window open in room, window was also had huge crack down it.

Staff friendly and polite but not helpful on service, for example got put into the wrong room and was not explained where shared shower/bathroom facilities were. Had to ask basic follow up questions to multiple members at times.

Overall a terrible stay for price paid.

Very cool and quirky hotel, located a 5 minute walk away from Central Station. Very friendly helpful staff who were accommodating with any needs. I was able to leave my luggage on arrival which was great and the free tea/coffee every morning was a welcomed addition. Beds and rooms comfortable with pleasant design. Such a cool and unique place the stay- I chose the secret bookcase and it was awesome! The staff were so lovely and accommodating, I was able to leave my bag there for free after check out. The room itself is perfect for solo travellers, the bed is super comfy and has everything you need. Location is perfect, a stones throw away from central station. Very clean place to stay too. Super impressed, would stay again!

Walking distance to main train and bus station (Rotterdam Centraal). Cute lobby with art, great restaurants, and friendly staff that helped with luggage because I had to walk upstairs. Only complaint is the double bed touched not walls in an alcove and there was a rotating table attached to the bottom of the bed, which made getting out of bed interesting. I would have preferred no table.

Very cool little hotel with passageways and rooms as art exhibits. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Five minutes walk from Rotterdam Central railway station, so a perfect base for exploring the city and all the other cool places in South Holland. Room was on the small side, so we had to be creative with space to accommodate two people's things. Still, we'd stay again.

This was my first trip to Rotterdam. I lucked out with this hotel. For someone looking for a typical hotel experience, simply look at the name. The staff was excellent and friendly. I rented a bike at the front desk and I was able to easily get around town. The note in the room was a special touch. The bar/restaurant on site was excellent.

It was easy to find this hotel from Centraal Station, less than 5 minutes walk. I found the staff friendly and welcoming with check in smooth and efficient. I stayed in the Candy Room which was small but comfortable with plenty of hot water in the shower. If you don't like stairs don't choose this room as there is a fairly steep flight of stairs up to it. The advantage being there is only one room at the top so it is very quiet and has it's own en suite. Breakfast was buffet style and the usual selection of pastries, cereals, yogurt, eggs and meats, coffee, tea and fruit juice. I liked the quirky decor and feel of this hotel which was relaxed and friendly and would certainly stay there again.

It was ideal for me and I would stay in this hotel again as I was only using it as a base to sleep, but if you want a bit more luxury/home comforts this isnt the hotel for you.

Ive stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years, and this is the coolest hotel ive ever stayed in. Its really not a hotel, its an amazing art gallery that just happens to have rooms to stay in. If you didnt know there were hidden rooms youd never know. I had one of the rooms hidden behind a bookcase. The room was ao minimalistic compared to the common areas, but that totally worked. A hotel room for me is a place to sleep, shower, and store my luggage while on a trip
I dont need a flashy room. My room was very clean, the bed was so comfortable, and the shower especially the rainfall shower head was perfect.
Ive never taken so many pictures inside of a hotel or raved about it to my friends. I really wish i had also stayed at the Amsterdam location.
The staff were super friendly and very helpful.

It was ok.

Inappropriate photos of a gagged person near the reception so glad I didn't take my kids.

I tried to buy breakfast at the hotel in the morning, I left my room key upstairs and couldn't find my name on the system - so long winded waiting around. It was quicker just to go to Starbucks down the road.

The room was tiny, no TV or tea/coffee making facilities and no blackout curtains. Light comes in from the windows.

The room was also quite cold despite the heating apparently being on.

It's a good location, a few minutes walk from the central station though.

All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The welcome tour of the different room styles was a lovely touch - travelling child had put a lot of thought into deciding which one to pick.

The location really worked for us - walkable for markets (do Binnenrotte if you’re in town Sat or Tues, not just the Markthal), street art and town generally, and kids playground nearby. And effortless for train station. GHG rooftop (til end of 2023) is at tgd end of the block.

Bed was comfy, loads of hot water, room quiet, good curtains, 11am checkout. Only had a glass of wine in the bar, but the menus and cocktails looked excellent and again the staff were super, the vibe was great on Friday night.

Wonderful stay

We did not know what to expect given the low cost and quirkiness. It was fantastic. Bed was very comfy. We did not have breakfast but did eat a main meal which was lovely although service slow. Hotel is very different and we loved it.
