It was all clean and staff were friendly. Fun and qwerky place to stay.

I wanted to give a particular mention to the barman who was there on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th Jan - embarrassingly we forgot him. But as seasoned travellers, we were very impressed by his attitude to go above and beyond. Wine recommendations, local tourism ideas. Really 5* - was the cherry on top of a great weekend.

WHEN IN THE NETHERLANDS, WHY NOT STAY ON A BOAT!

Given the choice, I’m glad I did. Also, love the punny name! I had a really good four night stay here. My room, on the lower level, was quiet and comfortable. My porthole was aimed at the canal wall but, when the tide was high, I had a view of the street.

Being a cabin, while spacious, there were a few things to navigate, like the two posts near the window, one of which I ended up head-butting as bent down to pick up something! Ah, the life of a sailor ;)

The room had a work table, TV, free WiFi, kettle with tea & coffee, air-conditioning, block out curtains and wardrobe. It lacked a luggage rack and fridge.

The washroom had a surprisingly large shower with a great water pressure, a wall-attached hairdryer, quality toiletries and lush towels.

The location was excellent with all parts of the city within easy walking distance. It’s only three blocks from the Markthall and the food and groceries therein.

Breakfast is available onsite, however, I chose to eat out. I was taking a night ferry to the UK and they happily stored my bags for the day.

This was fun way to visit Rotterdam for the first time and I would stay again.

I regularly visit my son so Worst Hotel in Holland

Where shall I start? From check in to check out the whole stay was a disaster. Incompetent staffing. Cancelled my booking 30 mins before I arrived. Even though I had purposely rang the hotel the day before to confirm and make the payment. I was assured that the room was booked and no need to make payment as I could make payment when I arrived. I started my drive to Holland leaving at 0200. Upon arriving at the hotel around 1400 I was informed that the booking had been cancelled and that they had emailed me. So we tried to rebook the room right there and then, only to have them try to charge a lot extra and state that they don't take cash. So I drove all the way back to my sons flat so I could check my emails and rebook the room through Hotels.com. Once I back to the Hotel I was then charged an additional 100 euros deposit, I also sign a \"illicit drug use\" form, again apparently is also clearly stated on the advert. Which clearly isn't as I have since rechecked. This then had to be a card transaction as they don't take cash. I was informed that the money wouldn't be taken that they just hold the card details until check out!!! We tried to pay for drinks in the bar and again informed the hotel doesn't take cash. Room dangerous, from ceiling height to slippery shower floor, to unsafe steps to outside terrace. On checking out i asked then to refund my deposit as they had debited the money from my account. Was informed that it would take 3 day! still waiting!

Stayed in a higher level room with a view of the canal. Happy with the room and the hotel is very near to the centre of Rotterdam and public transport (trams, trains, buses). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is relatively simple and the same every day, but there's something for everyone. The restaurant is very nice and does evening meals, though we only ate breakfast there. I would happily stay at the H2Otel again.

Good location, nice restaurant. Terrible bed, i had to sleeep on the floor. Reception had no solution or suggestions - just dismissed me saying some people like it and they'd contact me if any other room came up. They never did. Puddle in bathroom when it rained, and mould around the caulking in bathroom.

Leuk bijzonder hotel met vriendelijk personeel.
Ontbijt was prima (etagère werd aan tafel gebracht met croissant, broodje, ham, kaas, bacon, ei, jam, glaasje yoghurt met cruesli).

We hebben gekozen voor een kamer met terrasje erbij, leuke toevoeging! Enige minpuntje was dat de kamer hier en daar stoffig was. Ivm stofallergie was dat wat minder prettig.

This is a floating hotel! Very unique and unusual. Not a waterfront tower with a view of the water, but a small hotel IN the water. Made up of \"lash barges\", originally used by the American Army to send tanks and guns to Rotterdam. Make sure to read the history displayed in lobby. The location is superb- on a canal in Rotterdam, walking distance to many attractions and to transportation to others. We had a short walk to hotel from water taxi stop (we took this from cruise ship dock). Rooms are small, with portholes for windows, unless you are on upper level, very clean, with modern fittings, (a small fridge would be nice) and staff are very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, served on tiered tea trays, a very nice touch. The area surrounding the hotel was quiet and felt safe. I would not hesitate to return on my own or recommend to friends.

We loved our stay st this hotel and its close location to the Markthem food hall. The beds were overall comfy. We wished for a small refrigerator but otherwise the amenities were fine. The bathroom had what looked like urine in places and smelled strongly of urine and had hairs so it wasn't cleaned. The cleaning crew made alot of noise each morning which made sleeping in difficult. Otherwise, we appreciated the free drink since we opted to not have daily cleanings and other than having a brick wall as our view, we enjoyed the uniqueness of this floating hotel.

Prior to arrival the hotel offered us the option to upgrade our stay to a different room for €15 per night which we booked. On arrival we paid the €60 for our four night stay but when we got to the room it was not the upgraded room. As it was late at night I waited until the following morning to make reception aware. I was told to return later when the manager would be available. There was no room available of the type I had booked until the following day. Meaning I lost two nights of the upgraded room. I was given breakfast on one morning meaning for the inconvenience. The hotel should not accept bookings if there is no availability and should certainly not charge for them.

So I chose the hotel for the fact it was floating on one of the canals. Who doesn’t want to stay on a floating hotel right. We upgraded for a minimal amount to a terrace room so we were above deck. It was a nice size clean and comfortable.

Dark and dingy rooms

The lower rooms are dark and dingy with inadequate lighting and no ventilation. Whilst the rooms are big enough, the bathroom is almost an afterthought. It’s like a corridor tagged onto the room with an expel air that is also completely inadequate and a shower that causes the floor to get quite wet. The bathroom quickly fills with steam and you are requested to keep the bathroom door shut so that the fire alarm doesn’t go off. The location is fine, about 20 minutes walk from the Central train station and only a few minutes to the market hall.

It shows that the facility was never intended to be a dwelling. The interior of my room looked like a storage or utility chamber, with shabby linoleum flooring and no decoration to speak of. The thermal insulation is nonexistent, and there is no central heating. The room iss heated with an air-conditioner, which in January weather had to be on constantly to maintain decent temperature, and I wore an additional layer of clothes at bedtime. The shower room did not have A/C, and was uncomfortably cold. In warmer season, this should be less of a problem.
This is Rotterdam, where hotel accommodation is at a premium, and the location of the hotel is convenient, but still I felt I could get better experience for the price.

Good part of town but not worth the blood lost

What we hoped would be a charming change - we live in Rotterdam - we spent a night here after arriving drenched in the windy rain storm. When I got up from the desk and walked across the room, the steel beam running down and across the room banged my scalp and a gash of 4 inches and lots of blood followed. No notice of danger; bad layout of room allowing such to happen; the staff finally got some ice but didn't have a band aid, antiseptics or blood clot sticks. Uncomfortable beds. Anyone over 5'10\" or so, should stay away for life preservation.

Hotel is in a great location for exploring, for food, for bars. Staff were really friendly - can't rate them enough and were incredibly helpful when sorting bikes and the subsequent puncture! Would recommend room 12 - as has a seating area looking out. Hotel room had everything you needed for the amount of time you spend in a room on a city break. Fab time.

Very noisy - extensive building work nearby

I arrived late due to train delays. There is public transport that runs reasonably close to the hotel. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The room I had was fine for one person but not suitable for two as one side of the room was virtually inaccessible due to stancions. The main problem was the building work nearby, piledriving and constant drilling from 6am. I feel the hotel should warn people of this so they can decide if it will upset them. I checked out after only 10 hours. The staff were understanding and refunded my second night but it was a poor experience.

I will stay again

The local is good within ten minutes walk. My room is facing the sea view but the opposite room just facing shore. The room size is average.The bathroom design is a little bid strange because the glass wall just half only from ceiling to the bottom. You need to be very careful when bathing. Both water temperature and air conditioner are stable. The breakfast is excellent,don't miss it.

Pleasant enough stay and I had no issues apart from trying to get service on my first evening in the bar and restaurant. The room was a little smaller than I expected but as I only slept and showered in there it was fine... but very basic. Great location for town centre, restaurants and other local POI’s. Would happily use again but sadly can’t rate any higher than I have.

Fantastic and fun hotel! This place was a really different experience - a floating hotel! The check in process was super easy and the staff was exceptionally helpful, even finding us a place to store our bikes safely during our stay! The room was really unique with a nifty port window overlooking the canal. The bathroom was tiny, but this is common in dutch hotels. The wifi was good! The hotel is near to the center of Rotterdam - a short walk to Markthal (Market House), black train station, and the cube houses.

We really enjoyed the bar featuring outdoor seating on the deck of the boat! The bartender spoke both excellent English and excellent German as well. Rotterdam was one of the highlights of our 12 day bike tour of the netherlands - and we would definitely return to the H20TEL!

First off, excellent location near museums, downtown shopping, etc. Fairly easy walk from train station though wouldn't recommend with heavy luggage. Staff was friendly and welcoming. My room was on the lower deck closest to water. Small and musty smelling given no open window to outside. Mattress was extremely soft and uncomfortable for my taste . Breakfast was okay, but had limited options. Overall, decent value for the money, but could have been a little better.

This hotel is truly awful. I cannot believe it has a decent (and misleading) rating. People at desk are nice, breakfast is good. Rest is below anything I would expect for this fee. Value is way below average. Don't believe photos. Area is a demolition area, bridges being rebuilt, truly awful. Can't follow maps to site because bridges and roads have been demolished. Good luck...you can get there, but why?

Staff went above and beyond

a computer booking bug happened between hotels.com and H2OTEL. How this happened is unknown, but it happened with me. For me I am not a stressful guy, but it was nerve racking, the reception staff, found me a room in another hotel, and covered the difference, just to make sure all was cool. They printed maps, made the calls, in short did everything to make things right. They had the up most professionalism.

A 'Floating' Hotel!

How cool it is to stay in a floating converted barge! Whilst the hotel is a bit dated, it is still nice and pleasant. Rotterdam is full of surprises, very modern and clean in contrast with Amsterdam. The architecture is amazing. If you are foodie crazy like us, you will enjoy the multinational food scene which is simply awesome! Our favourites were Pho Hanoi for Vietnamese on Botersloot, Gamasot on Pannekoekstraat for really good and simple Korean, Chinny on Lijnbaan for Indo Surinamese and Takumi Dusseldorf on West-Kruiskade for great ramen. West-Kruiskade is also Chinatown of Rotterdam.

Unique boat hotel, very convenient location

The hotel beds were very comfortable; we were provided with clean towels everyday. The location was highly convenient, about a 5 minute walk to the Beurs metro station, and only a 10 minute walk to the main shopping area, markthal and the cube houses. The only thing we thought was lacking was the state of the carpet in the junior room -- it could have had a fresher scent.

The whole stay was excellent. Our room was spacious and clean. Bed was really comfortable.
The only negative i can say is a terrible engine noise that started every 6 minutes and lasted for 7 minutes. The windows were vibrating and made sleep unpleasant.

The decor was a bit unusual, however the hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. My one disappointment is the noise as you can hear people walking around and sometimes it sounds as though they are in your room. There was no natural ventilation in my friends' room, but mine had a tiny window. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

5 star sightseeing location

Stayed for 3 nights before heading to den haag. Amazing hotel. Great location that's perfect for sight seeing. 5 minute walk to bar Street, 20 mins to central, lots to see & do in the surrounding area & the hotel was fab. Great service, quality breakfast, spacious rooms & amazing staff. Would defo visit again.
