Stayed the night 6/24-6/25 in room 410. Everything was great until 12:30/am. My son woke up to a bed bug on him. I was able to capture it in a baggie and take it to the front desk. The night manager was very attentive and allowed us to move rooms, upon me inspecting it first (to room 411). However, none of us got any sleep. When checking out and speaking to the front desk lady, she was hyper dismissive about the situation. I quote " there is nothing she can do because they are third party" and " it's only one bed bug". Clearly she ill informed how bed bugs operate as one pregnant bed bug can start a whole new colony. She was more interested in informing me they were covering themselves with an exterminator and not renting the room then providing customer service. What was a special trip for my son as he attended orientation for Indiana Academy then was going to visit Michigan University the next day turned into a nightmare with no resolution and no empathy or customer service.

We stayed here for a volleyball tournament. It was a convenient location but did not feel safe one night while we were walking in as a guy got out of tinted car and followed us in. We were two younger girls so that was scary. Workers saw it and just walked into the back which I wasn’t a fan of. It was pretty clean except for the trash not being changed from the stay before ours in the bathroom and found some hair in the shower.

Breakfast not a full breakfast. Building seems fairly new, but is starting to settle. There are tons of repairs needed to create a 5 star experience. The first room we were assigned was not cleaned as if someone had been sleeping in the bed. Beds and mattresses are subpar, sit too low to the floor. Air/Heating unit was not working. Not enough towels and wash cloths in a double room for 4 people.

While the hotel appeared modern and updated my issue is with the cleanliness of the rooms. I Check the beds at any hotel I stay at, I requested to be moved from my first room because the sheets and pillows were full of hair. The mattress cover was not fully on the bed and when I pulled the sheets back and tightened the mattress cover I noticed the mattress itself had soiled stains. We were moved to another room and the sheets appeared clean no miscellaneous hairs through out the bed and the mattress looked fine. It wasn't until midway through the night I kept feeling crumbs on my legs, thought maybe it was just extra debris i might've put on the bed from walking around with my socks, so in the morning I pulled the sheets fully back and noticed crumbs towards the end of the bed, and guess what? A few strands of hair. Housekeeping needs to do a better job at cleaning the sheets and the shower.

I had called a week ago to make sure the 4-year-old was added to the booking, and the lady told me it was "common sense" and she didn't need to check. But when I got there, she flipped. She started shouting at me in the lobby, claiming me as a "criminal" and a "liar" because the child wasn't on the original Expedia paperwork.
She eventually told me she’d let us in, but only if I "acknowledged the crime and lie" I had committed. It was the most unhinged, bullying behavior I’ve ever seen. I told her I’d rather take my business elsewhere, and she promised she’d answer the phone if Expedia called to authorize a refund.
Well, she lied. I stood outside the hotel and watched through the window as she intentionally ignored three calls from the Expedia agent who was trying to help me. She just stood there and let it ring to try and strand us.

Room was clean and nice. The lock on the door was not fully secured to door. Informed staff but no one around to fix it. Offered to move rooms but we chose to stay. My main concern was when I went down the stairs, the fire doors did not latch and were partially open. Upon further investigation I found that there was a mechanism on the fire door that enabled and disabled the latch based on turning a knob on the door. Once the knob was turned the doors then latched as expected. I did inform the staff of this and they did take initiative to look into it. My guess is that this knob would be against fire code since just anyone can turn it.

Having a hotel manager know to put a couple traveling with dogs in a first floor, end of the hall room was very nice. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was better than most hotel (on the go) breakfasts, and the hotel staff was outstanding! We were very pleased with our stay and will return when visiting family in the Fort.

Wished it was a little cleaner

We've stayed here before and have had good experiences. This time my main complaint was cleanliness. We could tell the floors were not mopped and some tables hadn't been wiped down. Also, the room was very damp feeling so the sheets almost felt wet. Ultimately a good place to stay and a great value.

Front desk lady was super trying. Hotel is obviously under staffed. Floors were dirty. One of our bedspreads was dirty. With everything white, it is easy to notice. Good note, We did not find any bugs, just really dirty floors.

Breakfast had several hot grab and go sandwiches and egg bites in addition to fruit, yogurt and cereal.

Shout-Out to Goldie!

This was my second stay at the Avid Hotel. I chose it again because of its good location, ample parking, and hospitality. This trip was a ‘Girls Outing’. I want to specifically give a shout-out to Goldie, who I think is the hotel manager. At check-in, she was kind enough to ensure we all had rooms on the same floor. Her customer service and attention to every detail were outstanding. I also thank Goldie for her patience and problem-solving when one of the girls requested a room change. And I appreciate the 24hr fitness center. I will stay at the Avid Hotel whenever I visit Ft Wayne, and I highly recommend it to others.

This was a beautiful newly remodeled hotel. Everything was very clean with lots of space for the wheelchair in our room. The night manager was extremely kind. The only disappointment was our room darkening shade only lowered halfway. The manager said she could send someone up to the room, in a half an hour, to look at it. However, we had traveled all day and we were very tired. The parking lot lights and morning sun light, came filtering in our room during our stay.

Booked hotel for 2 nights and Saturday night I got back late from a wedding. My room door would not open. I went to the front desk and a staff member came with the master key and tried multiple times and my room door would not open. The man told me it was a “malfunction” and there was nothing he could do. There was no other room to be provided with and when I said I would have no choice but to sleep in my car he agreed and left back downstairs leaving all my belongings in the room. Never returning here.

Hotel is ok for a one or 2 night stay. Walk in shower is great but beware the air conditioning constantly shuts off after reaching temp set and never comes back on it just gets hotter. We set it to 65 before going to bed and woke up to it being 72 since it shut off after reaching 65. I can't speak to the noise as we were on the fourth floor so couldn't hear anyone above as others have stated in the reviews. Its a no frills hotel so if you need a clean place for one night, at most two, and it's not over 80 degrees outside then this is the place for you.

I’ve previously stayed at this hotel and had a good experience. However, this time around I was highly disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. When we first got off the elevator there was a strong horrific smell of sewage throughout the entire second floor that remained during our stay. When we got in the room there were stains on the walls. There were stains on both sets of beddings. These were obvious stains that housekeeping should have see if they actually cleaned the room from the previous stay. There floor in the bathroom was dirty and so was the shower. There were handprints and stains all in the shower. Also, in the middle of the night an alarm went off while we were trying to sleep and there was a lot of noise coming from the 3rd floor. Needless to say I was disappointed in this hotel and will not be returning.

Stayed here over a week, soundproof is just bad you can hear people next door, all the rooms door just banging loud. They had the sign saying clean promise but there are hairs wrapped in the towel, there is no way the staff didn't notice the hair when they doing it. The elevator Operating license is outdated even the qr code on it from the city website it's outdated too!

This property states it was recently renovated or that it was a newer hotel. Upon entering it had an awful smell, but by the time we arrived it was 5 am. Once we got to the room, it was disgusting: felt very humid and our shoes were sticking to the floor. We also had a curry smell that kept coming thru the vent into our room. The tile in our bathroom shower was hanging off the wall, counters weren’t clean, nor were the ones in the room. We tried to checkout early because our booking was for three nights.. again one of the nights we arrived and it was 5 am the following day. The hotel refused to allow us to cancel for a two night refund. (We were completely okay with them keeping the money for the one night) Well, they stated because it was booked on Expedia that we had to call them) They agreed to give us our money back for one of the three nights. (The cheapest night of the three) Walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING!

After the conditions of our room, the smell that was seeping in — this property honestly should have a 1 rating. If you’re looking for a hotel room that’s falling apart, a rancid smell, and feeling like you’re staying in a room that’s a dump, this is a hotel for you. Travelers aware, they are money hungry and do not care about the conditions.

Check in was easy, staff was friendly. The decor/colors were not welcoming at all. This is a newer hotel and it seemed very outdated. The temperature in my room was in the low 60’s so was quite cold when I got there. No carpet in the room at all - just tile floors so felt very institutional and not like a relaxing hotel room.
