Booked for 5 days. Stayed in a studio apartment. Accommodation was clean. Bottle of water in fridge for arrival which was a nice touch. Close to eating areas and about 15 mins to beach. Our major issue was sunbeds at the pool. Too many apartments and no where near enough sunbeds or the space to put them. Asked lifeguard who kindly offered to get white plastic chairs for us. Asked lady at reception and was basically told (without looking up from her computer screen) not enough beds and better luck tomorrow getting one! We left after 2 days as relaxing by the pool is a big part of a holiday for us. We had asked for an upper floor apartment with a view. We got a lovely view of the swimming pool of a privately owned complex with a beautiful pool area with no one using it. At least we had a laugh about it!

Really enjoyed this apartment hotel. Very nice staff! Help and friendly to make your stay comfortable.
The local area is full nice Spanish restaurants if you look for them and the hotel restaurant is quite nice if you don’t want to go out. Walkable distance to los Cristianos beach. I will definitely rebook with my family this hotel.

Very good and spacious aparthotel with heated swimming pool.
Adequate buffet breakfast. Decent restaurant onsite, and several restaurants within a short walk.
Don't confuse it with HG's other apartment complex over the road.
In spite of instructions not to do so, many guests left towels on the sunloungers all day. But we always managed to find a couple of free ones.
If we came again we would ask for a room a bit further from the bar, as the music didn't finish until 11pm.

The only criticisms about the appartment was that there was no air conditioning: it was hot in the bedroom and couldn’t sleep.
The shower was awkward as the shower head faced the shower curtain so the bathroom was easily flooded.
Good maid service and helpful hotel staff.

Expedia are mis-selling this properly. It no longer looks anything like the pictures advertised and there is no information on the listing advising of the huge construction site right behind the hotel causing a lot of noise.

This was our 2nd stay here and it will certainly be the last. If you want a good night's sleep, do not stay here. Every night we were kept awake by noises within the hotel. If anyone around you has their Aircon on, you're kept up with a constant whirring/washing machine type noise. I had ear plugs in and could still hear it. The hallway lights outside the room buzz and the fridge also buzzes very loudly. Far from a peaceful stay. One night a pipe on the grounds was letting off an awful beeping noise. We even considered checking out early due to lack of sleep but due to only staying 3 nights, and the cost of going elsewhere we stayed and put up with it as Expedia couldn't guarantee a refund if we left.

The sunbed and pool situation is ridiculous. All beds are reserved by the crack of dawn so unless you want to wake up at 5am on holiday, you won't get a bed. Hotel has signs up saying you can't reserve but they don't enforce this.
The lifeguard packs all sunbeds away at 17:30, which for a holiday hotel is ridiculous when they sun is still shining way beyond that. They start packing up around you, so youre made to feel like you need to leave and can't use the pool beyond that time. They'll start jet washing the sides down around you too.

Property is tired and needs renovation. Kitchen amenities extremely basic and nothing provided to clean with. Pictures definitely look nicer than what you actually get. Pool is almost impossible to use as there are too many rooms for the size of the pool / sunbeds provided and despite signs, people reserve towels and staff do not monitor this, all sunbeds taken with an empty pool by 8am. Pool does not have a pool bar in the middle as shown on photos. They were also renovating directly under our room from 7:30am-4pm every day and there was no warning of this. Overall- good area / close to everything in walking distance for Los Cristianos, but would not recommend as properties of a similar price seem a lot nicer.

Well after arriving at a hotel I stayed at a few years ago, I was really surprised as how down hill it’s gone.
We arrived and we’re greeted by a very grumpy chap who asked for our passports and once he’d finished with them, they were threw them under the glass back at us.
We had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the main road opposite our the Christian Sur.
The room had a very cheesy smell and once I opened the fridge, it smelt like a fisherman’s bait box which had contained maggots in. It stunk to high heaven and there’s no way I’d store butter / bread in there as it would contaminate everything.
The bathroom was absolutely vile, I’ve taken photos of the toilet, shower and sink, all of which seem to have dodged the cleaners since 2000.
The toilet was stained and dark in colour, the bathroom tiles had stains on and then the sink had ring marks on from where someone has had their false teeth in a glass overnight.
Oh there’s a welcome tray in the bathroom which is also filthy.
The ceiling fan in the tv room made a horrible clicking for the duration of my stay whilst being used, but the icing on the cake was on the lastnight, even that had given up the will to function anymore, it decided to come off its mounting as I was watching tv and ended up being suspended by two wires.
Having already spoken to reception about previous issues, the staff weren’t bothered about anything apart from taking your money from you.

The stay was great and the guy in the lobby Zeben (I think was his name) Was absolutely fantastic. He was kind very willing to help with everything, friendly, just perfect.
I like the stay and would choose this hotel again and reccomend it. BUT the internet connection was aweful, and there was NO internet in my room, and not possible to do anything about it. And the premium internet was broke. So the work we had to take care off, over the internet was not possible which was very unfortunate because we trusted that we could use the internet connection. So until the internet will be available and good we can not come back to this fantastic hotel

Lovely place to stay.

Apartment was spot on for what we needed. The maids were in everyday except Sunday, which was fine. Towels were lovely big bath sheets and there were toiletries on arrival which was a bonus. We only went to the pool a couple of times and had no problem getting a lounger. All staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful. Great location, near plenty of pubs and places to eat. We will definitely be back.

Positives are the rooms were cleaned regularly and cleaning staff were friendly. Negatives: I was disappointed by some of the staff on reception who I found very rude. One evening me and my brother went to order a pizza at 11.30pm and the man at reception sighed and seemed very unhappy that we were ordering, he was very rude to us even though the kitchen is advertised as open until 12pm? I also found the food to be of low quality and overpriced for what it was. I booked a twin room and upon arrival I was told there were no twin rooms available unless we pay another €70? I booked a twin room and would expect to get one for the original price i paid. I also thought it was unfair to be charged extra for things such as the safe and also the wi-fi (which didn't work most of the time). Overall quite disappointing.

There are at least three alternative apartments in the photos. Most of the pictures are clearly of the highest standard and larger than ours. If you book an apartment, please check which apartment you will receive. Our apartment was small and dark. Sunshine came to the terrace just 1-2 hours before sunset. Sitting comfort was poor and there were gaps in the level of equipment, for example, only 1 little spoon. The base of the frying pan was convex. The price-quality ratio was not right. At first, there was a wide range of problems. However, they were treated with great praise. The best thing was fast internet. However, it cost 10 € / day. The apartment is suitable for short stays but not for longer stays if you want more than just a sleeping place. The pool area was good and the small store was well equipped and there were several well-stocked shops nearby. The location of the apartment hotel was also pretty good. These factors increase the overall score to three.

Having stayed at these apartments several times in the past, we found it disappointing that loyalty as returning clients was not respected in any way. We had to wait for our room to be ready upon checking in, which is not appreciated after several hours of travelling - when it was ready, we were given a room directly above the very busy roadside with constant traffic, making relaxation during the day and sleeping at night very difficult to accomplish. With so many other accommodation options in the area, there's nothing about this stay at HG Tenerife Sur to warrant another stay.

Very dated apartments you have to pay for tv and safe and the beds are not just firm but rock hard and you are glad to get out of them in the morning
On the plus side location is great and the apartments are cleaned daily by the hard working cleaners
It is a shame the management are not as keen on sorting out the apartments as this lets the place down as they do not come up to the same standard as the grounds and reception area

Nice room, with a good view over the pool. great reception area, and a very good restaurant.
A very good pool, although slightly too cold for most people, but the children seem to put up
with it. I would stay there again, but I was disappointed that the room was only cleaned twice,
and not very good. There was dust under the bed, settee and cupboard unit when we arrived.
After saying that, all the staff there are very nice, and I would recommend this hotel to my
friends and family.

Stayed here for 4 days in November, in that space of time we had to ask the maids twice for clean towels & toilet paper , maybe not a big deal for some people but we like to have clean towels each day after use. We also never had clean bed linen once during our stay here ,which I think is unacceptable , The bathrooms are very dirty in my opinion, ours had a really badly stained bath, & paint was flaking of the ceilings. Overall I would have moved from here if I we were staying longer , as it was only 4 days I couldn't put up with the hassle of trying to find another hotel for a short stay.

We stay here every time we come to Tenerife, but this year our experience was a little disappointing. We didn't have a kettle in our room, which was rectified as soon as we went to reception, but was surprised that the domestic staff didn't notice when they cleaned our room. The domestic staff also came to clean our room at 9.30am each morning (except for one day) and as we didn't get home until 4am each morning, this was a little inconvenient. They even came at 9.45am on the day we were leaving and I tried to explain that we were flying home that day, so would be vacating the room by 12 noon anyway, so even on this day, we didn't get a lie in...... not the most relaxing holiday! Apart from this, the hotel is lovely and it does have everything you need and the staff are very good, the pool lovely and it isn't far from the centre of Tenerife.

The hotel upgraded us to a better room on arrival. All the rooms have a balcony, ours Room 324 overlooked the pool area, however note the larger the room number the more steps you have to climb. Beds were made almost daily and clean towels given. Nice to have a separate living area and somewhere to cook, we didn't as like to eat out but did have breakfast in our room. Asked one of the male receptionist to make a phone call for us to book our airport transfer as we had booked a tour and were out all day, he was quite rude and seemingly unhelpful but did do it for us. All other staff seem helpful and friendly.

All the facilities in this hotel are out of date. the room furniture is old, rusty, and grubby. The pool area is dangerous, with people constantly slipping and skidding on wet tiles, which was like an ice rink when wet, There were frequent accidents during our stay, with young and old slipping and falling heavily. There were missing tiles around and in the pool. This hotel needs to be completely renovated.

What was worse than the above, was the queue every morning to get beds. Every nights the beds were stacked together and chained. They were unlocked every morning at 09.00. By this time there were about 30-40 people waiting to get the beds, some were waiting from 1 to 1.5 hours before this, to make sure they could get a bed. Getting an umbrella was worse, with people putting towels on umbrellas from 07.30 in the morning.

Lovely apartments surrounding a wonderful pool with plenty of room for sunbeds around the pool and on the grass in sun and shade. Unfortunately, although there is a sign in reception warning against reserving sun loungers, every morning before 9.00 a.m. there were queues of people (mostly British without a German in sight!) waiting for the stacks of sunbeds to be unchained. Families were reserving up to 8 sunbeds and then disappearing until mid-afternoon! The sign says 'Towels will be removed' - PLEASE DO IT! It would only take a couple of mornings of doing this before sanity would prevail and then everyone would have a lounger to use when they needed it. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the maid came in daily to empty bins and remake the beds with a full change of bedding and towels once mid-week. Restaurant in the entrance was handy for pre-dinner drinks and we did eat there once and the food was good. Live music there every night goes on until midnight so don't expect an early night unless you bring earplugs! We had a great time and would definitely go back.

This hotel is well located and not to far from the beach. The pool area is lovely and the pool is large but there is a bit of a issue with finding a sun lounger. You get clean towels everyday and the room is given a minimal clean too. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, although we were slightly misinformed about two trips we took (Teide and La Gomera). There is plenty of free parking near by if you wish to rent a car. The hotel is basic, simple but has pretty much all you need for a cheap, cheerful and lovely stay in beautiful Tenerife.

this hotel is central for all amenities , not far from the beach or the shopping centres very nice bars and resturants close by the pool area is great for children and adults, rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are always available food is good, they have fashion shows around the pool twice a week, this place is good to use as a base for everything, lots of places to eat on a night-time down the front really good rates for a 3 course meal

Well, the hotel was exactly what we needed for 11 nights. Space for cooking, pool, kids area, pleasant and professional staff. Two things: Internet connection and TV paid extra. That is not a policy I would expect from that hotel especially if you have to check your work status from time to time. Apart from that, I recommend it.

Lovely hotel, great location, helpful staff

We were very impressed with our stay here. The apartment was as shown in the photos, clean, fully equipped and nicely decorated. The only thing I would have liked was a proper oven (there was a microwave that you could also use as a grill or oven but we couldn't work out how to use it). would also have been nice if there was a dish cloth or sponge to do the washing up. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. There was a fan in the bedroom and lounge, which was adequate for a stay in April. We had a ground floor apartment facing the road. It wasn't too noisy as we weren't opposite the bars, however the outside area was not very private. It was lovely as we had extra space as there was also grass area we could use, but there was nothing to stop people on the streets looking at us. some foliage or screening on the fence would have been good.
The grounds are beautifully kept, with lovely plants and flowers, and well looked after. very clean and tidy. The pool area was wonderful, and the lifeguard super helpful - my daughter had trouble getting out of the pool as she has fractured her knee a few weeks ago, and he helped me get her out of the pool.
There is a shop, bar and restaurant on site which were all good. There are also supermarkets, bars and sandwich shop across the road which were equally as good. The hotel is situated in a great location and around a ten minute walk from the beach. There is a taxi rank outside the hotel, and bus station around the corner

Excellent breakfast

Apartments at front of Hotel get a lot of traffic noise. Nice comfortable beds and apartment very clean. Excellent all you can eat breakfast for only 6.50. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. Handy baggage room to leave cases until flight home.

Excellent location

Although decor and upkeep not great, enjoyed the holiday, close to loads of eating and drinking places, short walk to the beach. Everything you needed in apartment, nice pool and deck chair area. It was better than we expected after reading he reviews.

NOISY BUILDING WORK NEXT DOOR ALL DAY

NOT GOOD BUILDING WORK HOTEL NEXT DOOR, NUMATICAL DRILL GOING FROM 8 UNTILL 6 6 DAYS A WEEK,CAN HEAR IT FROM POOLSIDE AND OUR ROOM OVERLOOKED THE HOTEL NEXT DOOR,THIS WILL CONTINUE UNTILL NOVEMBER OF THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL WAS NOT OFFERED ANOTHER ROOM AFTER COMPLAINING THREE TIMES.

Hotel is OK but I will not be returning to stay.

The Hotel is generally OK but near noisy bars and renovation work at an adjacent Hotel was using a JCB Jack Hammer 0900 to 1700.

good hotel

stayed here for the last 15 years going 2 or 3 times a year, rooms have been upgraded but furniture still needs to be a little better only painted over the original colour. pool area is great ,food excellent and good value for money , Fados restaurant on the prom is a really great place to eat , friendly staff and a good choice of food.

We were told 2 hr wait to book in this turned out to be 3 hours.
The safe would not lock. After two visits to reception I finally convinced them I was not the problem and the sent maintenance to REPAIR it!!

Modern pool and restaurant - Dirty and old rooms

The pool and restaurant is very nice and modern however the bathroom is very old and dirty, mould in between all tiles, we asked for a room swap and the next room was the same except the bathroom also had gunk came out of the bath tap which you had to turn on before making it to a shower.

We went to shut the curtains in the living room and the whole rail came off. The beds are like a solid rock and the couch looked about 100 years old I couldn't even sit on it.
