The staff were lovely and very nice. The location was close to subway stations, fresh market stalls, craft cocktails, and fine dining. Of ciurse there were also quick bites and shopping around as well. It was abiut a 20-30 minute subway ride to Central Paris. The rooms were clean and cute. AC, good water pressure in the shower, 2 keys, fridge, nespresso coffee machine with pods and mugs, and we had a balcony with chairs and a table that looked over the rooftops of Paris. Very romantic. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent location. Nice friendly service. Good breakfast. The hotel is dated and needs renovation. The bed was uncomfortable with a broken mattress. The bathroom was covered with mould.

nice room but ..reception can be better

the first reception hostess was rude and we ask her to repeat every single sentence she said (even ask to switch to english and she refused). the second one was super friendly and nice.
the water came out yellow in the bathtube. it looks like they changed the pipes recently but no one warned us.
we rang on departure but no hostess came after 10ish minutes.

Room was smaller than we thought fornthe price we had paid. The mini fridge wasnt cleaned and had no water in it. I stayed for 3 nights and the water wasnt restocked. We had used 2 glasses on the firat nught which had just been left there for the duration of our stay. And on our last night, when we came home around midnight, i saw the door had been left ooen by the pwrson who cleans the room. 2 lughts didnt work

31^C and A/C not working. Like sleeping in an oven. Very unimpressed. Offered another room. Same issue. Staff advised the A/C was down (so why offer us alternative room). Full refund would have been appreciated.
Breakfast also disgusting. Scrambled eggs were like rubber. Limited choice.
On a positive note. Place looked lovely and staff were great. But really, if A/C is down and weather is above 30^C - shut down.

We love the neighborhood and the hotel's proximity to the best farmers market in Paris. There were wonderful restaurants and cafes within a block of the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Decent enough but definately not a 4 star

Some hotel staff were nicer and more helpful than others, but some information about the area etc would've been useful rather than just handing us the key when checking in.
I wouldn't say the hotel is 4 star. While it is comfortable enough, its a bit drab.
The cleaning of the room was substandard, dirty pillowcase left on bed, toilet roll left on floor, bin not changed etc which was probably the worst thing about the room. the lights are also pretty bad seeing as there is no overall \"main light\".
Area is good with lots nearby.

Doors don't lock, but clean

Pros:
- Bed and room was clean (but don't look under bed)
- Bathroom is mostly clean (minor mold in the corners)
- Room size was ok
- Bed was pretty comfy (not too hard and not too soft)
- Location is close to metros, restaurants and a stop on the yellow line of the L'open hop on hop off tour (but far from the tourist attractions (not within walking distance)
Cons:
- Toilet is in a separate room, typical European style, but door opens into toilet, so you have to stand on toilet to open/close the door
- Window is full height like a door did not lock (but not so bad since we were on 3rd floor and there was a barricade window shade that can be used too, but then you have no sunlight) and door to hotel room did not consistently lock, hotel room was changed after their staff left room unlocked one day
- amenities were not refreshed until second to last day (which was annoying)

I'll never spend 350 euros on a secure again

350 euros for one night last Thursday 20th , the most I've ever paid for a bog standard hotel. Paris was hugely expensive last week. Hotel itself was \"ok\", let down by two people arguing at base of hotel at 02:30 am which lasted 30 minutes and woke the entire hotel up.

The hotel is located in a nice location. My big problem with the hotel was the a/c. The a/c was barely blowing any air and there was no fan to circulate the air.
So my stay was a little uncomfortable. I was only there for 2 nights

Decent good value hotel in a central location

A decent hotel managed by friendly efficient staff in a good location. The only \"downer\" is that the thermostat inside guest rooms cannot be set to go lower than 19 Celsius which makes the room a little uncomfortable. Other than that all was good.

The lady running the desk was so sweet. The room was so little and perfect for a single or couple planning to be out most of the day. Outlets on both sides of bed and real hair dryer!
Breakfast great and lobby so instagrammable. Easy walk to Marais district, one of my faves.

We arrived very early and the hotel kindly held our bags until later in the afternoon. We were given a corner room with a terrace which was lovely, though it overlooks offices. The room itself was an odd shape and the bath/shower, sink and toilet in 3 separate rooms. There was a double bed and single bed, I got the single bed which was a rollaway though incredibly comfortable. The toilet broke and wouldn't fill so we had to fiddle with it every time we used it. We never received our complimentary water but the Wi-Fi was excellent. The location is so central with the metro less than 3 mins walk. I would definately stay here again.

1st time in Paris

Really happy with my stay here. Room looked exactly like the pictures and the bathroom was very spacious with a tub. My room overlooked the street and was only .5 mi away at most from any metro stop I needed!

Friendly staff, rooms a little tired

We found the staff here to be very friendly and helpful. This is a small hotel, in a good location, close to Bastille. 10 mins walk to Gare de Lyon and about 30 mins walk to Notre Dame. A selection of metro stations are nearby, so you can easily be in central Paris within 40 mins. There are some good bistros and several very good patisseries nearby. There was also a food market just outside the hotel most days. The rooms themselves are tired. The bathroom had a good shower and a bath, but the walls had peeling paint and the towels weren't the best quality. The fan didn't appear to work which made the bathroom damp. There was some building work outside the hotel from 8am. Overall I would probably stay here again, depending on the price and the reason for visiting Paris. We paid around 100 Euro per night, and I'd expect slightly more for that price.

It was ok....

The hotel is in a great location especially for young couples or groups of people wanting to have nights out as it is a walk away from
Bastille which has a back street of pubs and clubs.

The hotel was basic but clean. Bed was made everyday and room tidied too.

It says it has a bar, it doesn't. It has bottles of wine and beer etc just sitting out next to reception and the reception pour it for you I think? We were disappointed in this so never used it.

One of the main reasons we booked the hotel was the roof top bar, we always like to sit out at night and have a drink to unwind. The 4 nights we stayed the roof top bar was closed as the reception man said 'it might rain'.

Online it also states that it has English tv channels, it did not.

Also quite a noisey area, building works going on beside the hotel woke us up early mornings but that is not long term.

The location was the best thing! It's literally a 2minute walk to the underground!! You pass restaurants and bars and there's a market on every day the street opposite and also bakers too! Plenty of choice.

Just a side note for anyone who hasn't been to Paris before - we got stopped in the underground by ticket police and they charged us 35euros each because we had not signed and dated our 5 day ticket we had bought. No one ever told us to do this, and the stop you randomly. Just a heads up!!!

This is a great little hotel in a convenient and fun location. The Bastille-Saint Antoine area has heaps going on and its within easy walk to most things. There's also a bike hire stand right near the hotel for those for whom walking is a chore!

I was only at this hotel for one night because I got to Paris a day earlier than expected. I got there late, and didn't adventure around the neighborhood much. I was alone and I went to look for food but everything was closed when I was out, probably around 10 pm. I was really thrown off by this hotel at first because the lights on each floor were emotion activated. I considered ordering room service but they charged 5 euro for orders after a certain time, 10 p.m. I believe, and the menu was pricey to begin with. The rooftop deck would have been nice in the morning, but wasn't usable in the evening, I couldn't even find a light. They did have some TV channels in English though, which was nice because it was a little too late to explore the city. Bathrooms were very pretty and clean.

The hotel was so close to lots of shops and cafes and very easy to get to. It was close enough to the Gare de Lyon to walk even with luggage. The staff made us feel at home, booked us into a super restaurant close by and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. We would stay here again

Noisy, musty and dark

The foyer is small but nice enough. The corridors are papered in dark brown wallpaper which makes them very dim and unwelcoming. A strong musty smell pervades the corridors, despite a lot of air freshener that is actually cloying and unpleasant. Our room was a good size, by Parisian standards, but had an odd configuration. The toilet was set off the entry while the bathroom led off the bedroom. This meant walking through the bedroom to wash ones hands because there was no basin in the toilet. The bed was comfortable. We got little sleep because the noise from outside was very loud, despite the roller shutters. We stayed 2 nights but would have moved to a different hotel because of the noise if we were staying longer.

great hotel close to Gare de Lyon

This hotel is a great option if you want to stay close to the Gare de Lyon. I personally don't love the neighborhood but it was convenient for me for one night and in transit as I was traveling to the south of France. It's super close to the Gare de Lyon (about 10min walk) and to a metro stop. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful, and let us check in earlier than we were suppose to. Bed was SUPER comfortable; great shower and spotless clean room. Highly recommend it!

Nice hotel with excellent local feel

It is a hotel closed to the Bastile with 10 mins walk. A lot of local eateries around: good restaurants, bakeries etc. Although some reviewers worry about the market, it does not bother us at all. It is actually very nice that you could grep some fresh fruit every day just across the street. People from North America may find it a bit weired, but it is very common in Europe or Asia regions - view it as a framer market instead.
The hotel room is relatively big in Paris (have stayed in other 3 hotels in Paris), but it is true that some areas may need update.
There are also 2 supermarkets nearby if you need some groceries.

Cozy and Convenient

We really enjoyed our September stay at the Mercure Paris Bastille Saint Antoine. It's convenient to the metro and even within walking distance of many great places--we walked the mile to Notre Dame our first day there. The rooms are cozy, but I recommend springing for a terrace. We loved coming home after a day's sojourn to drink wine on the terrace!

The hotel is situated in a non-tourist location - which was great. There was a fresh produce market every morning half a block away, as well as bakeries, cheeseries, and meat markets. Within walking distance to multiple metro stations and numerous restaurants. We were even able to walk to Notre Dame, Holy Chapel, Pantheon, and Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

Hotel staff was super friendly and very helpful! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Rooms were modern yet dated and very small. Not bad location. Staff were very accommodating. Their bar in the lobby did not have any bottled water in stock, no regular coca cola either. This hotel should be rated as a 3 Star. I expected more for a so called 4 Star.

Great Hotel in a good location, staff very helpful nothing to much trouble. Any request made before all met by hotel.Metro very close by in walking distance, lots to do in area around hotel places to eat and drink.Not all attractions in walking distance advice using metro or open top bus, also water taxi to get around the city.

Enjoyed our stay would come back to explore the city more and stay in the same hotel again.

Serious Flaws

In a 'priviledge' room your expect the aircon to work. Especially in a small room where the only cooling option otherwise is to open on to a very noisy street. Deliveries and garbage collection, parties and passers by only 10ft below our window. So, as sweat or noise were our only options, sleep was intermittent. According to the hotel, they can only have heating without aircon or aircon without heating - so they had selected the heating option for the whole hotel as it had been cold recently. Didn't work for me. Breakfast was expensive and the hot option inedible - tasty bread and croissants and good coffee but very poor value. Room was clean and well furnished, location, near Gare du Lyon not really close to anywhere you want to be but OK.

The one real problem is ice for guest to use for cold drinks in there room.I did not have a car , but I noticed a huge fee for parking. I think it was 17 euro per day. For a guest it should be free. That amount is about $25. U.S. Dollars per day.

Nice hotel for 1 or 2 night stay

The location is convenient to many good restaurants, shopping and to the metro. The staff was excellent - offered suggestions about easiest metro routes and places to eat. Our room was small even for European standards, the bathroom walls needed some repairs, the light over the bed didn't work (but we kept forgetting to let them know), we never did figure out the air conditioning and occasionally it was very noisy in the alley. We loved the roof-top patio. It would be a good choice for a short stay but not for the 7 nights we were there.

Check if you are in the right room

I paid extra to have a bigger room & bed. The first day we were placed in a cheaper room. I couldn't believe that it paid extra for such a small bed for two. I didn't sleep at all, even I was tiered. My husband is a big guy so there was no space for me. I didn't want to wake him up. We left early in the morning, but when we came back the room wasn't clean up. We asked to send a cleaning lady but they said they don't have anyone. I was lucky that day, because at the front desk was a very nice Polish girl. I asked her to check my reservation and she confirmed that it is not my room. She was nice and apologized, even offered her self to help me to move us to another room (since no one was available). Next day, I talked to the manager (young pretty black girl). She didn't apologize and wasn't really surprised to hear that I spent the whole day in the wrong room. I asked her to reimburse me. she said it is impossible but promised to check with her office. The day after stuff brought us a bottle of wine. I thought it was nice, but at that time I didn't know that it was the reimbursement and not complimentary. When we were checking out, I was lucky again to have the Polish girl at the front deck. She explained to me that the wine is in my bill as a reimbursement. I was shocked. But she was nice enough to reimburse us when we paid for our dog. Please if you see a black guy be alert. He has no idea what he is doing. Don't ask advice he send us to the worst area for dinner.

My family stayed here in Dec 2013 (2 rooms, my husband and I with our teenage daughters). It was simple, nice, clean, etc. No extra bells and whistles, but that was ok with us. Very short walk from Bastille. Also, Gare de Lyon is very close walking distance as well. The street in front of the hotel was pretty dirty, but other than that, it was good. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected in Paris. Nothing to rave about, but we were looking for a clean value and that is what we got. I would recommend to friends that are traveling.

The location was very convenient for my trip but the neighborhood somewhat uneven: some nice restaurants and then a bunch of homeless people occupying phone booths half a block down the (pretty messy) street. The lady who checked us in was very welcoming but staff in the breakfast room spoke no English and it was really hard to get a copy of the bill at the check out time. The breakfast itself was fulfilling and on par in terms of value with other (more fancy) hotels. 70th decor looked a bit odd though the room was clean and, by Parisian standards, of decent size (two tween beds). Some lights and the thermostat did not work. An odd smell in the hallways. The pictures on the website make it look better than it is. Overall, 3 stars but no more that.

Not a four star hotel

When we read in expidia that this would be a Marriott level hotel we were happy wioth our bpoking. When we got there we realized that this was not a four star hotel but more of a two star hotel. Equivalent to a Days Inn. The beds were smaller than an individual bed. The bathrooms were seperated. The bath area had wallpaper falling from nthe walls. My towels were not changes and the garbage can is so small you could not fit two small water bottels. The other part of the bathroom. Is soooo small I basically had to use it with the door open. The rugs in the rooms looked dirty. As for it being close to the Guarre de Lyon , it is a good 15 minute walk, so be carefull if you have heavy bags. The walas are paper thin so you can hear everythong that goes on on the street and next door. I would give a rating of 5 stars if this were a 2 star hotel howerver 2xpedia has it rated as a 4 star hotel. They should really go and see the hotel before they reccomend it as a Marriot level hotel.

Nice hotel handy to Gare de Lyons.

Staff helpful and excellent restaurants nearby (Le Berbere is next door). Room compact but bed comfortable. Toilet separate from bathroom, and a tight squeeze for a hefty six-footer. Breakfast more than adequate. Neighbourhood not the classiest but seemed quite safe.

This small friendly hotel is not far from the main shopping areas of Le Marais and easily accessible on foot from Gare de Lyon. The rooms were clean, the wi-fi fast and plenty of hot water in the shower. There are several small restaurants nearby for evening meals, as well as good boulangeries for breakfast pastries. There is a small produce market every morning for fresh fruit too (we were at the side of the hotel and never heard a sound from the market). Just five minutes walk gets you to the first shops, just ten minutes walk gets you to the first Starbucks and the Bastille Metro station for connections throughout the capital.

Close to everything but local feel

If you want a hotel that's accessible to everything but doesn't feel like you're in tourist central. This is it. The neighborhood is very local so you get a real sense of how Parisians live. The staff was extremely friendly the rooms were very clean and decent sized for Paris. Overall a great experience.

Really nice holidays

Really comfortable hotel, everything was OK, heating in clima was really useful and really quiet, u dont hear when it was ON. We got a terrace room, view was to the building with offices. Room was clean and everyday was tidy. Hotel has a good position, two minutes walk from here was everyday a local market, with vegetable and fruit and everything. Aprox. 10-15 minutes walk from Gare de Lyon and 5-10 min. to the metro Ledru-Rollin.

Not worth the price

We stayed for 2 days. We put the sign on the door to have the rooom cleaned and it wasn't. Since the towels were so thin and didn't dry, we wanted new ones. I asked for new ones and I got a stained towel. Never got an apology until we checked out and were asked about our stay.
The room was clean, but so small there was no room to put the 2 suitcases we had.

What made this hotel stay for us so enjoyable was the front desk staff. The were exceptionally friendly and helpful with any questions we had.
The hotel itself has small rooms, but they were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The rooms had air conditioning which was helpful since it was really hot. There is a nice rooftop terrace where we enjoyed a glass of wine in the evenings.
The hotel is not too far from the Place de Bastille. We bought tickets for the \"open bus\" and used it as our main mode of transportation to get around. Really liked Paris.

Decent hotel for Paris-nice front desk staff

Considering the cost and size of the typical Paris hotel room, this one offered a lot. The room was not the smallest on our trip to France, was in a reasonable location (close to metro--Paris is so huge you can't see all on foot anyway). It was reasonably priced (under $200/nt w/o breakfast) and was okay, although not fancy. The front desk staff, especially Isabel, were very nice and tried to help us find things as much as they could. Did not try the breakfast. Neighborhood was not bad, not touristy though. It did have a very large farmers market a couple of times we were there.

Smallest Room in Paris

The room was so small that you are not able to get around the bed if the suitcase was open. The hotel is really small and old, and the closet for the clothes was dark old wood with no room to hang a jacket, only shelves. Useless. The bath and toilet was seperate. The bath was good and plenty of hot water. Neighbourhood is really local and some nice bars and cafes around. Market is on on Saturday just outside, selling local food.

The usual Paris \"mini\" hotel room with minimal storage options: absolutely no drawers for shirts or underwear, forced to keep it in the suitcase . Good breakfast with options, horrible and totally useless WIFI connection. Location, proximity to metro is good, market is nearby. Good, professional and helpful receptionists and breakfast room attendant.

A decent little hotel to use as your Paris base

A comfortable small hotel with friendly helpful staff. Contemporary enough without being bleeding edge trendy. Perfect for a 30something couple away from the sterotypical American and Japanese tourists.

Made a good base to explore from - relatively easy to walk to Notre Dame and the Louvre but you'll probably want to metro it to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel tower. Being slightly to the south-east of central Paris (10 minute walk from Bastille metro station / 3mins from Ledru-Rolin), it's not right ontop of all the sights but that's not a bad thing - that's what the metro and your feet are for!

It feels like there's more 'real' life there. We took some time to stroll round the surrounding streets of the hotel and found a lively market, a cute square with a park in the middle, nice boulangeries, patisseries (for tasty breakfast treats!) and table cafes (K'fe was one we liked) with reasonably priced but good quality food and wine (for relaxed nights just stumbling distance from the hotel).

My girlfriend & I were very pleased wih the hotel, the staff and the location of the hotel. We were close to a main station as well as the Metro. The room was very peaceful, the cleanliness was brilliant and the reception staff were ever so friendly and helpful. We did not use the restaurant as breakfast was expensive at 16 Euros. There were other great bars & restaurants in the area.

Soooooo noisy!!!

I loved the position of this hotel...until I got there. It is just on the corner of a busy fruit and veg market. This means that from 5pm onwards there is the noise of the trucks loading up and reversing out, then the rubbish bins being collected, and finally the endless roadsweepers to clear up. This continued until about 10.30pm. At 4.30am then next morning it all started again with the trucks arriving and unloading the crates of fruit and veg. A nightmare!!!

Great hotel in less than ideal area

LOVED the hotel and the staff. Area, although easily accessible by metro was a bit dodgy and dirty. A street market (food) operates within a block of the main doors. Sometimes it didn't have the freshest smells (being a street market after all). Also, it can get a bit loud in the early morning as the vendors begin to set up. Saying that, it was handy for picking up very inexpensive food items. Can get to the Ile de France within a 30 minute walk.

Friendly staff but hotel is very basic

I enjoyed my stay at Mercure Paris Bastille Saint Antoine but I wouldn't recommend it for everybody.

I think young people would like its funky appearance. Rooms are very small but functional.

The staff was always friendly and accommodating.

The hotel is in a neat neighborhood near the Bastille.

Even so, if the hotel was in the USA it would only get a two star.

Ok hotel in Paris

Overall the hotel was ok. It needs some remodeling and more light in the hallways to the rooms. The service was fine and all the reception people were very helpful and pleasant.
Short walk from the Metro station, but the streets are very dark at night, though did not have any difficulties.

Very interesting quiet location

The hotel has recently been renovated. It is scrupulously clean. The hotel is in a quiet area. The personnel are friendly and helpful. The European breakfast offers almost anything you would want.The famous right bank Aligre farmers market is a two minute walk from the hotel. There are several good restaurants nearby as well as exceptional bakeries. Two Metro lines are conveniently close. The hotel merits its three star ranking.

The hotel is close to ledru Rollin metro stop but a bit out of the way from major attractions. The room was very small and poky with a seperate bathroom and toilet so if you go to the toilet you need to walk across the room to wash your hands. No mini bar and coffee and tea supplied were awful. Also a wierd smell in the lobby. On the plus side the room was clean and lady on front desk was really helpful

The location was amazing!

This hotel was absolutely perfect. Great price, clean, the staff was beyond friendly & helpful. My favorite thing about this hotel was the location. Across the street was an air market almost everyday. Metro stations very close. Short walk to lively bars & restaurants, and shopping. The neighborhood felt very safe. The location alone was worth it. My next trip to Paris I will definitely book Mercure Paris Bastille Saint Antoine.
