The hotel is very well situated on Picadilly close to regents street and all shops, but the rooms are definitely in need of updating, very old fashioned and dark, walls painted dark green make them very dark and depressing with the lack of light. Furniture needs updating especially the bed.
Rooms are noisy from the traffic if you like the window open at night.
Nice to have a pool in a central London hotel.

Room wasn’t the 5* experience we were expecting we have stayed in nicer premier inns which are much cheaper. Aircon was broken and room was so hot! The tv was broken kept saying the hdmi isn’t connected or switched off completely. The light in the wardrobe didn’t turn off when we closed the door so was on all night. The radiator in the bathroom was on and we were unable to turn it off. There was sellotape on the corner of the dressing table far from 5* more like a 2*.

It wasn’t the best stay made worse by the price (but it is the week before christmas!)
The beds were comfy, there was plenty of tea and coffee, the gym and pool area was good and given our room was overlooking Piccadilly it wasn’t overly noisy.
That was sort of where things stopped being good; the room was so tired - scuffs all over the walls, the wardrobe looked old and tattered, the carpet was thin and had gathered in places which could have been a trip hazard, there was a hole in my bed sheet and the bathroom needed an upgrade! I didn’t find the staff overly friendly and they didn’t acknowledge the occassion we were there for which was fine. I was really disappointed, I’ve wanted to stay there for a while but won’t be rushing back and there would have been other places to stay that were better I’m sure!

It was great to be greeted so friendly and the wonderful man on reception gave us a room on arrival which was much earlier than check in time…which was very appreciated after a long journey. The room was located on floor 6 which made it quiet. It was very basic and extremely in need of a refurb. The bathroom was also a little tired looking. We visited on 15-17 December but the room was incredibly hot and we couldn’t cool it, yet the corridors seem to have aircon! You cannot beat the location of the dilly, being so centrally located but the hotel really does need an upgrade. I understand a refurbishment programme begins shortly, I just hope that they don’t just focus on the reception areas and instead pay more attention to the rooms.

How dare this hotel carry a 5 star rating. Honestly, I’ve stayed in fancier Premier Inn’s. Absolutely disgraceful. I feel nothing short of scammed after staying here. It’s a great location but that’s all you’re paying for.

The rooms and service are substandard. The bathrooms are disgusting. I feel sorry for the people that work there - when I was checking out some poor woman was having her ear chewed by another unhappy guest and was obviously not permitted to do anything.

Honestly, choose anywhere but here.

We had a double room for 2 people but the room only had a bedside table on one side of the bed and one lamp on one side of the bed. The room felt very much like it was a room for 1 person. The bed was small and the room was dated. No mini bar and we couldn't get room service until 5pm. It wasn't worth the money at all.

Perfect location as I was attending an event at St James’ Church which is directly across the road. The hotel looks like it was once a grand place, but the room was very tired. The furniture was scuffed and the bathroom was very old. There were also building works happening directly outside my window. This didn’t affect me as I was only there one night but I would have asked to move if I was staying longer. A warning about this would have been nice. Also, there was a strange incident where housekeeping knocked on my door at 11pm to give me more water but I hadn’t ordered any. I checked with reception and was told that housekeeping had attended the wrong room. Mistakes happen, and that’s fine, but obviously for a woman travelling alone, this was concerning. I would stay again because the staff were lovely and the location was great. The gym was also excellent! It could just do with some updating.

I stayed at The Dilly in March and was so pleased that I rebooked for August. But this time I felt I was staying at a different hotel. Maybe my first stay made me a harsh critic, but I was expecting excellent and got average - especially for the price. The room I booked in March was a Superior 2-Double - it was clean, spacious w/ updates like USB charging ports by the bed, a new temp control thermostat, fresh paint/decor. This time, our initial room was a Superior 2-Twin. Other than the size of the beds, I was expecting the same tier quality. Yet it was tiny & not updated (walls peeling, no charger outlets, a dial thermo). After seeing the room, I requested to move to - and pay for - an upgraded room akin to the Superior I had last time. One wasn't available for our stay, but they offered to move us to a Superior King (& waive the fee for a 2nd bed). I appreciated their accommodation; the staff was very helpful and attempted to make us more comfortable. But even the new, more expensive room didn't live up to the room from March. It wasn't refurbished either: no charging ports, AC didn't cool, bathroom towel warmer heated the entire room, no bathroom vent, fire doors banging outside our room all night. It just felt like the small touches were missing this time and wasn't as comfortable. Again, the staff was great, but the room was disappointing. I like the hotel itself (location can't be beat) but if I stay again, I will be sure to request a refurbished room.

5 star location but that’s it.

Food options very limited. Indian restaurant or pizza in your room isn’t a good variety. Five star staff and location but amenities are no way near five star. It’s my second time staying there. After my first time there I asked for a quieter room as having a room opposite the lift was very noisy. This trip I was put opposite the staff laundry room and was very noisy. The hotel is old and yes modernized a bit but the walls are like paper. You can hear next room guests showering!

Good location but one lift was out of order for all my stay and it took a long time for lifts to appear, wherever you went. The bath and shower is ok but needs a refresh particularly regards the shower head and flexibility but this should distract you. It has a very odd layout and you can be directed a long way to your room when shorter routes, you later realise, are available. The breakfast/lunch restaurant, whilst built for a view, takes some finding first time.

The hotel is nothing like advertised. There is no air conditioning, the hotel brought a fan to my room.
The hotel also ruined my laundry, and lost many items.
To their credit, they did give me a generous refund.
The cleaning was terrible, after 3 days of leaving a dirty glass on the night stand, I had to hand it to the hotel maid.
The fitness center is first rate, I will give them that.
However, I will never stay here again.
I come to the West End 2 times a year, but I will not be staying at the Dilly.

The standout moment, though, was at checkout: one of the staff members, Ali actually walked with me to the station and helped carry my large suitcase all the way to the ticket kiosk. That kind of thoughtful gesture really stuck with me. Highly recommend!

No refrigerator, elevators barely work, no real air conditioning (no thermostat, just a set of knobs for a room fan).

For a hotel this expensive, a mini-fridge is a no-brainer. If you stay for more than a couple days, you can't bring snacks or drinks back to the room - it will rot or get hot.

One elevator was out of order the entire time we stayed, for over a week. I don't think they had any plans to fix it. During my stay, I kept encountering people with suitcases waiting for an elevator, heading to their plane or train. Once an elevator arrived, it was packed with people with suitcases. We started just hitting the Up button so we'd get on -an- elevator and have a chance of going out. We adjusted by leaving 20 minutes early for our flight.

The beds only had thick blankets on them, not normal sheets. It was the summer, so you either had no covers or you'd sweat. The lack of the thermostat was an issue as just leaving the room fan on would make it frigid in the middle of the night.

The location was great. We were steps from the London Underground Piccadilly station, and you could literally see the hotel marquee once you stepped up to the street. We were walking distance from a great many landmarks - Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, St. James Park, Buckingham Palace, etc. This had its downsides - the street was a mob after 10am and restaurants were super busy.

There was a massive gym and pool, staff was great, housekeeping every day, but I'd rather have a fridge.

How is this a 5 star hotel ?!?!?

Had to change two rooms because they were so terrible. The first room had no windows. The second room had a leak in the shower and not even a shower curtain, so the bathroom was filled with water after every shower. For the third room they charge us 70£ extra per night. Who ever gave this hotel 5 stars should quickly get a different job.

We stayed at the Dilly in mid-June and paid about $437/night, including taxes and breakfast. The location is unbeatable—just a couple minutes from the Piccadilly Circus tube station and basically across the street from Fortnum & Mason. Perfect base for exploring central London.

The room was decent size for London (248 sq ft), but we had an issue with the AC. I had confirmed ahead of time that the room had central air (no individual control), but when we arrived, it wasn’t working and the windows don’t open. The room was hot and stuffy. To their credit, the duty manager sent up a good fan right away, and halfway through our stay the AC kicked on. It wasn’t cold, but it made the room comfortable enough.

The bathroom was basic but fine—good hot water and heated towel rails, which helped a lot. The hotel itself is older (they mentioned a renovation coming in the fall), but it still looked presentable. The pool and sauna were nice. The bar felt a little uninspiring, but the breakfast was excellent—plenty of quality choices and attentive service.

Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. It’s definitely a pricey stay, but the convenience of the location and solid service helped make up for some of the shortcomings.

Would stay again if the AC situation improves post-renovation.

The TV would turn on in the middle of night and wake us up. Engineer came up twice and could do nothing. He said it was happening to several guests of the hotel. Great location for walking but terrible for cabs/uber due to congestion. Overpriced rooms for the condition our room was in. 1 of 2 elevators broke down for 2 days, and resulted in long waits. The gym/pool is nice. Room service was mediocre at best. I would not stay here again. Manager was not helpful when I complained.

Most hotels would not have cared and would take full payment but I was delighted and really appreciated that the hotel only took payment for nights i stayed. The location is perfect, pool and facilities top class. Staff very friendly. Because of the heartfelt nature the staff showed to me I don’t think I will ever stay anywhere else when in London.
