The roof garden was the best part of the hotel. I would stray there again for the enjoyment of the roof terrace. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Some features of the room and kitchen were worn down. The bathroom was clean and functional.

Cons: room is very outdated and dark, closet was broken, bed was hard and pillows lumpy and old; the room smelt musty, and the A/C barely worked, it kept having an error code and only somewhat was cool if you close the bedroom door, but the kitchen/living room was hot and stuffy with no A/C. I was scared to use anything in the room because they have this waiver you must sign and damage deposit you must pay. You must wash your dishes or will be charged a fee on departure. The area around hotel did not feel safe at night, we did not realize that when walking home at 9pm in the dark after dinner. I was not pleased with what I expected from the advertisement photos and views compared to what we really got.
Pros: room was clean, despite musty old smell. Roof top was pretty, the two Pools were small, the size of a hot tub, but nice. The view was decent, you could see the ocean from afar, and it was quiet at night and during the day. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Location is close to the ocean, melecon, and close to Romantica Zone, minus the noise. They will store your suitcases at the front desk complimentary which is nice.

Loved the location. Pool is not heated and small(just for sitting in). But the roof top area has a great view of the river and the bay. Room was excellent value with the kitchen having everything you need to make a meal and the staff were friendly but unfortunately the beds were terribly uncomfortable. I would not stay there again because we couldn’t get a good nights sleep on the bed. That being said if you can get past the bed this hotel was lovely!

Absolutely love to this place! Although not a five-star, it's full of charm, old Mexican wooden doors, colorful tiles on the stairwells, and tons of plants and flowers. A four-story mango tree in the central Courtyard just tops it all off. Would absolutely stay here again! Felt safe with my daughter traveling, and the people were wonderful!

this is right in the heart of everything from the beach, shopping, great food, clubs excursion pick ups. Can be a bit noise at times given vendors are around and people drive crazy but this is a great way to access everything. A little hard to communicate with the staff if you don’t speak Spanish (which I don’t) but they are super nice

This is an excellent location. Wonderfully close to the Malecón and the Zona Romántica. The rooms are a little dated but always kept clean. We loved being able to cook and reheat food. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We would happily stay here again. Downside: bed is extremely firm! If you like sleeping on rock then you will be comfortable. We brought inflatable sleeping pads and that helped a lot.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Cute Mexican style hotel. I had the luxury king suite and it was huge with a good size kitchenette and hangout area. The roof top pool/patio was a nice place to hangout, convenient location to the Malecon and mercado. A/c worked well, hot water in the shower takes a min to get working but then was a good temp and water pressure. This is a busy area so you will hear all the fun from the streets but I found the noise of the a/c helped drown it out. My only complaint was the bed and pillows was a tad stiff compared to what I like. But that's a personal preference. I would definitely stay here again!

When I got to the suite to check in I was charged $800 pesos for my child that's 15. Apparently if your children are 11 years or old they are considered adults. And when I did my reservation thru Expedia a child is considered under 18 years. This suite should considered changing bedding&towels to a different color because everything is white. Their bedding & towels are white so if they get stained you get charged a fee. They have signs all over the suite stating different damaging fees. They even had one that said that if your child wets(which was not the case with my children) the bed you get charged up to 1,000 pesos. The parking is terrible because there isn't any. They have 2 spots up front but it's only for loading &unloading. We were asked to move 3 times and when asked where we could park they said that anywhere we could find a place. I also had to call reception to send someone to empty my trash bins because they were full. Trash bins should be something that needs to be emptied out every morning especially when the suite is for a family with children. The only positive thing about the suite is the location. You can walk to the malecon because it's close by.

Make sure to ask for an exterior room. It is a clean Mexican hotel with one and two bedroom suites. Kitchen with refrigerator is convenient. While there are cement couches with pillows , there was no comfortable place to sit. Our two bedroom was interior with no access to any view except an interior space.

They don’t give you fresh dishcloths for washing dishes. They are dirty they told me they don’t wash them ever. I asked them to wash the cloths and please give me a new one, and the maids had a fit. Eduardo also had a fit and was rude to us about it! He is not very nice or accommodating. If you don’t book with agent, hotel treats you like crap. Lesson learned.

Stayed with my family. 3 kids in total. Loved the pools upstairs and the location is perfect. Loved the feel and freedom of the kitchenette to cook. Ordered in sometimes and had room cleaned daily. Many other families stayed as well. Staff came to help set up the safe first day and called taxi for airport on our last day. Excellent experience as a first time traveller.

Suites Plaza del Rio is a great property right smack in the middle of what they call Downtown Puerto Vallarta and Romantic Zone. It's a two block walk from the hotel to the Malecon. There's plenty of shopping around the place.
The Suite Plaza isn't a luxuries resort. Nor is it a Motel 6. It's a great place in a great location. It's a family type property. I stayed in a two bedroom two bath suite. It has a kitchen, balcony and living room. The AC is nice and cold. The bathrooms are small.

The Suite Plaza isn't a luxuries resort. Nor is it a Motel 6. It's a great place in a great location. It's a family type property. I stayed in a two bedroom two bath suite. It has a kitchen, balcony and living room. The AC is nice and cold. The bathrooms are small.

The location of the property is perfect for Simone wishing to explore Old Vallarta. However, the place could use major renovations. The bathroom smelled horrible due to old plumbing. We had to close the door or run water to be rid of the smell. The only AC in the suite is in the bedroom so good luck hanging out in the living room area. The only TV is in the living room so watching tv in a cool room was impossible. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

My husband and I lived in PV for ten years and have always loved the traditional feel of \"Old Mexico.\" This hotel is clean, friendly and has a great location. It's reasonably priced on a fairly quiet street (except for one rooster and some church bells) overlooking the Rio Cuale below. We look forward to returning next year. Staff is very accommodating. This isn't a high end new construction hotel stay but more of a clean basic comfortable accommodation with good WiFi and perfect for adaptable travelers looking for an authentic Mexican experience.

Easy and pleasant check-in. We were early so they held our bags. Room was ready early..nice bonus. This was our first stay…wow! It’s so perfect, multiple pools, many sitting areas in the lobby and all throughout the hotel, beautiful surroundings, so clean, so delish breakfast, the sound of the river, the ROOM! I’m sure every room here is wonderful! Always felt safe, very short walk (2-3 blocks) to the best restaurant/shopping areas in the Romantic Zone. Will definitely stay again!

Room was on the second floor, heard loud knocking on the balcony door and checked out. Room is way too hot when trying to cool down the kitchen area. Hotel is very old and hotel staff unresponsive to complaints and tried to charge us full price when we checked out after the first night due to safety concerns.
Staff also joked about a death that happened in front of the hotel that was quite insensitive. Would not stay here nor can I recommend this property.

The pool is 1 feet deep , no services, food or drink. The night i checked in there was no power! They took me to a other hotel this was after trying to sleep with NO power. Had to walk 4 blocks. When i get there they say i have two 2 reservations!
