Had an amazing stay at Casa Cupula with my husband in January 2026. The whole place was beautiful, well maintained and interesting to explore. We stayed on the garden level and loved the access to lower-level pool. Staff was all great and attentive, including at the pool club (which hotel guests have free access to).

Didn’t want to leave :(
Will definitely return again!

If you dont mind walking ots about 12 min on foot but its kind of a workout back up the hill and stairs when its hot. Other tha. That the property was perfect. Besides the two leaks in the roof which were small leaks due to the being raining season, I found it very inconvenient that if I wanted to have someone sleepover that I met with during the parties they had and then partied with them at the beach, which is in walking distance as well Felt it inconvenience that I am being charged for having that guest spend tonight in my room that I purchased for the weekend. Seems like another scam for them to get some money from you aside from what you’re already paying.

Tried Casa Cupola for the first time and found it to be a wonderful experience. Their staff was outstanding, as was my room and the many amenities they offer. In particular, their Sunday brunch was the best! Multiple pool areas, bar and restaurant so you really want for nothing. Will absolutely stay there again on my next visit.

This place is amazing! My partner and I celebrated our 26th anniversary. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The whole staff was warm and welcoming. Our villa was beautiful with awesome views. Felix arranged “Dinner Under the Stars”. The food was incredible and the night was romantic. Unforgettable!

We were in contact with manager Felix who provided shuttle transportation to the resort which we recommend. Boris, the manager of the property provided all of the maps and suggestions for store, markets, restaurants we needed to enjoy our stay. We had breakfast every morning that was delicious and our waiter Lalo was fantastic. The room was spacious clean and private. We look forward to stay there again on our next visit to PV. Plus we always had a rif=de available to wherever we wanted to explore.

This is the perfect quaint LGBTQ-friendly hotel on
a hillside overlooking the ocean in Puerto Vallarta. It is all the amenities - multiple pools and jacuzzis, including a club pool with restaurant and a rooftop infinity pool; full gym; full restaurant. Rooms are very comfy. Service is beyond outstanding - friendly, fast, courteous. Ubers are cheap. Also walkable to beach, but uphill walk on return.

This is a great little gay resort, about a 6 minute walk downhill to the bars and beaches of Zona Romantica and a quick ride up the hill. It is set into the hillside, so there's great views - and also stairs to get to places. The pools are well-maintained. Other guests were sociable. Hotel staff were professional and friendly. On-site spa and restaurant for those days you don't want to go anywhere.

The Casa Cupula Boutique Hotel was a great spot for my recent trip to Puerto Vallerta. The hotel is in a prime location - walkable to numerous restaurants, bars, shops and more. The hotel is tucked away up a steep hill, but the views make the short hike (5 min. max) worth it! The room was well-maintained, very spacious and cleaned every day. The staff here is incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. They provided me with local info and assisted with restaurant reservations and rides. They offer complimentary rides to places within the area - saving me money and time. Casa Cupula is a smaller property with limited rooms which makes for a quieter escape - all while being in the heart of the city. I recommend Casa Cupula to others and would absolutely stay there again.

The property is a little oasis away from all of the hustle and bustle of Los Muertos Beach. The facility itself is very nice. The restaurant needs to work on the buffet service more. The stairs are everywhere so you will definitely will get a leg workout every day.

Mucho amor en la Casa Cupula

This hotel is awesome. Not only are you close to everything Puerto Vallarta has to offer, it's secluded enough that you can head back to the hotel and have the quiet you're seeking on a vacation. The amenities are top notch, and I love the homey feel you get from this Gay Resort. Not to mention the staff couldn't be more accommodating. They will literally deliver anything at any time of the day! I'll be back and I'm telling friends!

Nice boutique hotel and very friendly/helpful staff. This was my first trip to PV and I had a great time. No complaints but be aware it is a 10 minutes walk to town and the hotel is atop a hill so the up and down will give you a workout. You can easily uber or cab it to places as well.

Beautiful facility and stunning location. The staff was extraordinarily courteous, friendly, professional and proactive. Gustavo led a great team. The views are pristine and the pools are really nice. they were very happy to give free rides into Puerto Vallarta central (about 6 hilly blocks away).
Unfortunately the room, which was large and comfortable, had a very noisy A?C system that didn't cool adequately, the toilet leaked water on the floor and the faucet for the sink was loose. Despite these easily fixable issues, the experience at Casa Cupula was great.

This is the best hotel/resort I have ever been to. The staff treat you like family, the grounds are quiet and very close to the downtown/beach area, and Casa Cupula itself is mesmerizing. In truth, I would have been very happy to have never left the resort area! You are truly pampered here. This is how you vacation and I cannot recommend Casa Cupula enough!

The hotel is nice, but its on a hill. If you walk from there to the beach you have to go down 112 steps and across a very busy road. The food at \"Taste\" , at the hotel was terrible. We sent it back and never went back. The staff is very unfriendly. I would not stay here again.

This was my first time to Puerto Vallarta and first time staying at Casa Cupula. First the staff was amazing. Logan & Alex were super helpful and welcoming. The hotel is very unique and beautiful with great amenities for a private intimate feeling. The rooms were extremely nice and private, both clean and up to date with necessities. Wonderful experience with hotel and staff. Only issue was the lack of food service due to slow period. However, it turned into a positive as we were within walking distance of great restaurants in town. May not have tried them had the hotel restaurant been open. As others have mentioned, you have to be somewhat fit to manage the stairs in and around the hotel. There are many! Very lush and wet so recommend having insect repellent if you are sensitive to bug bites. Used it sparingly and still got bit but could have been worse. Highly recommend the happy hour at the Signature rooftop pool bar across the street, heading into town. Open to the public after 5:30. Incredible views! Overall we are glad we chose this hotel and would definitely return.

Lovely Home Base Resort on Rainforest Hillside

I wanted an LGBT-friendly resort within walking distance to many things, and with luxury that was affordable. My expectations were met. I really enjoyed sitting out on my balcony listening to the incredible thunder storms in the evenings! The gym is a bit basic. The pools are small but very nice for the most part, and very private. I went off-season, knowing it would be a bit empty and quiet. The entertainment system in room was great.

Logan wrote ahead of time to make sure he knew my needs and expectations before I arrived. I was impressed. They will customize your minibar. The whole property is lovely. Forest is amazing.

Restaurant: Juan was a continual pleasure to see and talk to. I ate my breakfasts there at Taste. I tried one dinner. I would not say the food was mind-blowing, but it is certainly better than average, and a good value for being right there. The hours were limited because it was off-season. To be fair, I did not get to try it that much and did not try lunch at all. What I can say is that everything I had was elevated in flavor and presentation. You push a button to get service at pools, it isn't really full service.

I did not see too many other guests (off season), and did not interact with them. Some guys were nude sunbathing (clothing optional pool) but it didn't feel cruisey. I really liked the hot tub with jets. The main pool is very small. The rooftop pool is smaller, but a lovely view. The third pool was kind of forgotten about, again, off-season.

I travel frequently but hadn't been to Mexico in several decades. Casa Cupula is very comfortable alla American; the staff super helpful without being intrusive...
It's true, the property is not in Old Town's gay epicenter which also makes it pleasantly set apart & serene... despite other comments, I found the walk from the beach stressless... alternatively, everything's truly a cheap taxi ride - just do it! ;-)

Take the good with the bad.

I would like to start this review by praising the staff at Taste. They provided excellent service and made us feel welcomed. Unfortunately the condition of the hotel made our stay a bit uncomfortable.

My partner and I were looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub however; it broke on our second day and was never repaired. The doors leading to one of the pools would constantly lock from the outside and my partner was trapped in that area on three separate occasions. Our air conditioner broke on the last night and we were rerouted to another room that wasn't completed serviced (I'll spare you the details) and then rerouted to a second room which was in great condition.

On the bright side; our toilet clogged one night but the staff were able to fix this problem within an hour. Gustavo tried hard to make sure that our concerns and experience was enjoyable and I thank him for his efforts. He worked hard to address what could've been a series of stressful situations.

There was one concierge whos snide comments and banter were not appreciated. His comments about other guest were disrespectful and made us uncomfortable. It also left me wondering what he said about us when we weren't around. Aside from this individual, the rest of the staff were respectful and polite. We love support small businesses, especially those that cater to the LGBTQ community. If we did not have to interact with the concierge described above then we would consider staying here again.

Good place for non-Spanish-speaking gay men but..

...it's a bit of a hike down into the Zona Romántica and QUITE a hike back up the hill to the Casa Cúpula. (In fairness, a cab up the hill costs about $US2.5o, tip optional.)

They have a great gym & 2 tiny pools, one \"clothing optional.\"

We felt a bit isolated. Not just because of the \"hike\" but because the Casa is really 3 houses truncated and not well connected to each other, with lots of stairs to climb. (Not for the the physically challenged.) And no central lobby or area for socialization, except around the \"clothing optional\" pool, which required lots of stairs to access.

The biggest problem for us, besides the \"hike\" was the room itself. Electrical outlets were old (mostly not 3-prong) and far-between. There was NO PLACE to put our suitcases except on the floor and no chest of drawers in which to put our clothes. There was not a single chair in the whole room, nor any surfaces to write on, place a laptop or lay out a book or a map. There was a pedestal with a lamp on it, on each side of the bed, but virtually no surface area for anything else.

The bathroom was tiny with old plumbing.

The ONLY ventilation came from the door to the room, which must be left open if you want any fresh air, which we did. The place has excellent security. A/C and a ceiling fan partially addressed this problem.

Bottom line: We felt cramped and isolated.

The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. Just a short walk down the hill to the beach. The restaurant is excellent, the shrimp tacos were my favorite! But most importantly the staff is the BEST!!! Special compliments to Christian, Ruben, and Juan...they made the stay absolutely unforgettable and were so helpful with anything we needed and were so pleasant and fun to talk to! The rest of the staff was incredible as well and so attentive! I will definitely come back and have already referred a few people.

The best part of Casa Cupula was the staff. That is not to say the hotel is not beautiful because it is. The rooms are all beautiful and all have great views. I stayed with 3 friends and each of their rooms were just as beautiful as mine. The restaurant has wonderful food and durning the day they serve at the pool. The diner menu is excellent. The owner is a friend man and talks to everyone and wants to know about your stay. During diner he will come up to your table and inquire about the food. Over the past 15 years I have stayed at other hotels and this was my first time at Casa Cupula but I will be returning!

Excellent Hotel and Friendly Staff

The hotel was located on the hill and had wonderful ocean and mountain views. The staff and concierge were excellent and were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Outstanding Luxury Gay Hotel

My husband and I just spent the past 4 days at Casa Cupula and we could not have been more pleased! The ocean view from our huge outdoor balcony was spectacular. The facility is outstanding with an excellent restaurant (Taste) and great pool and gym. But what probably makes this hotel the best is it's staff. Christian and Logan (concierges) go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. They made all our arrangements for us to go zip lining, scuba diving, afternoon massages, and even a romantic rooftop dinner with a private waiter. And Jesus and the rest of the front desk staff are amazing! Spectacular trip! We will definitely be returning to Casa Cupula next time!

Staff was wonderful and location was convenient. The friendliness of the people in PV was a pleasure and definitely makes you want to return. Would most definitely recommend Casa Cupula to others traveling to PV.

Great colorful hotel!

The property is beautiful. We were there in July 2015 and it was low season. The service was great. The staff was wonderful. SigiFredo was very helpful. Logan and Edwin were very helpful too. The only problem that we encounter was a \"bad smell\" out side room 243. I have no idea what it was. I think it has to do with them not opening the gate and since it is humid during this time of the year. The smell is strong. Besides this, everything was good. The hamburger that i had at the TASTE restaurant was one of the best!

Extremely Disappointing Experience!!!

Our room was badly decorated and didn't look like the rooms that were pictured online or rooms that we saw when we were there. We were under the restaurant and the noise each morning was extremely loud and went on for hours. Our room #102 had a broken valance that was hanging down and we saw roaches run across the floor on multiple occasions. When we first arrived \"Jesus\" told us the hotel was at 50% occupancy but when we asked him if there was another room he said only the suite was available for $108 dollars more each night. On our final night we had dinner at the hotel restaurant \"Taste.\" It was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. It took them a very long time to seat us, so they said they would buy us a round of drinks. When we finally were seated the waiter was abrupt and couldn't answer any questions about the menu. He would just say he didn't know and for us to read the menu. The food was very good but for some strange reason they allowed dogs in the restaurant. We were under the impression that these belonged to someone on the staff. We have dogs of our own so we love dogs but we didn't appreciate these two very large red labradors sitting by our table STARING at us during our ENTIRE meal and the wait staff not do anything to remove them. By the end of the dinner we were desperate to get out of there, so when we got our check and saw that they CHARGED us for the \"free\" round of drinks. Disgusted- we just paid and left. In a word- amateurish!
