The hotel is okay, but I had black mold in the bathroom, low water pressure in the shower so could as we’ll have showered in the sink and the gym was closed even though it was advertised. The breakfast was very pricy for what you got, 20€ for what you’d get for 8€ at other places.

I could stay here again as it is still so close to the work site and the beds were nice and there were no bedbugs but I wouldn’t recommend Holiday Inn if you have other alternatives.

The place was perfect for the price. The public transportation (tram) was close (200 m). Easy accession by car, close to the highway. Morning drilling in the building was little annoying. Hallways were worn out, but all was functional.

Reception was great very happy until we saw the very tired room although the bed was quite comfortable, the aircon didn’t work. The Expo had an all day and night rave or drum and base event and it lasted until 4.30 in the morning. Restaurant food and service was poor service had to be requested.
The best thing about the stay was the breakfasts which were bloody good. Access to the tram was very convenient.

the sofa which had been made into an extra bed had stains all over it

the car park is very much need of some work which you have to pay 18 euros for

Getting to the hotel as its on some kind of loop is hard as well

we only used it for one night as a base and it did just that

Staff are the best thing about this hotel. they are friendly, attentive and efficient. The Hotel itself is dated, showing sides of neglect (peeling wallpaper in room etc) and just tired. Its on an industrial estate with lovely views of an Ikea

The staff super nice and helpful. The train is just a couple of minutes walk away and takes you straight into town. The food and coffee were great. The esthetics of the hotel are on the older side but it was very clean so I did not mind. I think the only negative is the loop driving around to get to the hotel. The signs aren’t the greatest so you may miss it the first time. This is not the hotels fault though so nothing negative really to say about this place.

Standard. Entrance is good but rooms had several mosquitos and they are meant to be elimanatee before guests arrive. Instead we got told if had informed them they could have used treatmemt to try n get rid off them but was too late as we arrived past midnight for 1 night. No compensation given

Staff were great when we arrived at 10pm, checkin was smooth. The hotel has seen better days and just a bit run down tbh. Not much around the local area for breakfast so we opted for theirs, 19 euros per adult (pricey) but kids (i think under 11) are free... very good variety so we started the day well.
Big open air parking but why do you make us pay 7 euros? we're staying the night!
For one night, it's close to the beautiful ghent and reasonably priced but i wouldn't stay there for longer... needs a revamp!

I've stayed in this hotel a few times as it is convenient & have always found the staff friendly & approachable. The rooms are clean, quiet & air conditioned. They are, perhaps, beginning to show their age although I noticed that some rooms were having work done on them so may be being updated. As an English speaking traveller, my only real gripe is the lack of a decent English speaking TV channel (I think Al-Jazeera News was more or less the only choice). This may be a post-Brexit thing but some BBC channels, say, would be nice.

Unpleasant, outdated & expensive!

The very worst hotel I have stayed in for the cost. I paid 208euros without breakfast for a hotel that was so dated. Doesn’t feel like it has been decorated since 1980’s. Felt dirty and old fashioned. Nasty shower curtain, too hot and ridiculous price for a hugely outdated hotel. This is unacceptable from a major brand, in a significant city in 2023.

Very disappointed & usually Holiday Inn is a good hotel!
1st there was a big queue to check in which took 30 mins. That couldn’t be helped but the check in girl said I had to pay €10 as check in parking was only for 20 mins?
There was no mention either that you have to pay €10 day to park there?

In my room we only had 2 power points which were far away from our beds? We would be out working all day so would need to charge our phones & laptops over night and in case of emergency I want my phone by my bed? So we had to rearrange the room
When moving our beds the dust underneath was disgusting... the cleaner had obviously never hoovered under there!
Very surprised as Holiday Inn is usually a good hotel.

The rooms were tired and could do with a bit of an up date. Food was nice and bed was comfortable. There is an Ikea 400m away with their usual meatball food. There is nothing to do in the area around the hotel and if you are driving be very careful when driving around the “Loop” because if you miss your Turing you have to go around the “Loop” again!

This is not your regular Holiday Inn. The tariff is low to attract guests, so one is even willing to go off location from the center but the hotel itself is very disappointing.
That it’s relatively older doesn’t justify lack of upkeep. It can still be maintained well.
But the air con in my room was not working. When
I called the hotel staff to report it , looked like they knew about the issue because they showed up with a replacement fan & said there wasn’t any maintenance available at that hour to fix the issue ( 10pm )
Electric kettle in the room wasn’t working either !

This property does not really qualify as a four star except that it’s a check mark to all the amenities needed to qualify for making it so.
Not only is it in a physically run down condition it looks like it’s unable to maintain itself too.
The air con in our room was not working. When we called the staff to report it , they came prepared with a fan, almost expecting it not to work. And reported that maintenance was unavailable at that hour ( 10pm) and no other room was vacant to shift us either.
Of course the pricing is very cheap but you don’t want to say you get what you pay for to a Holiday Inn property. DISAPPOINTED !

Good, simple accommodation in a modern block. My room overlooked the central atrium where the restaurant and bar are.
Car parking outside.
Looks a long way out from the city centre but the hotel is located at the terminus of city tramline 1 which gets you right into the centre for €2 each way.
A good stopover when travelling.

This hotel was very good six years ago. The staff are still friendly, but the hotel has lost its way a little. Hard to put your finger on exactly what but i feel it is not as good as it used to be and we will now stay in the other holiday inn in ghent. Which seems to have got better and better.

It never mentioned to me in the past that we have to pay an additional charges when are booking in.Was asked to €3 each person for a city charge that everyone pays that while you are in Belgium.I slept at hotel in Brussels and was never been asked to pay any extra money so am demanding a full refund for €12 please thank you

It is clean nice big room and bath. But it's on this. 1 mile pkus loop where to enter or leave you have to go as round the loop at least once more if you miss your exot. They charge 10 to12 euros for parking and there arre no rrestsurants near by so you have to deal with the loop or pay (breakfast buffet 17.50 only option). Ill never stay here again. Meager fitness center.

It’s cheap, but that’s what you paid for

The usual holiday inn near an Expo. No lifts from parking, so need to carry up luggage. Rooms are decent. The staff very friendly. Towels are old and hard. Would probably crumble soon. All in all if you’re looking for just the night, this is okay. Don’t come with any other expectations.

Good sized room. A little dated but well equipped. Excellent hot and cold breakfast buffet. Plenty of parking (charge). The only issue here is the perennial summer problem of mosquitoes as a result of the water features on adjoining properties. This results in the need to keep windows shut. If you are aware and take precautions the hotel is a good and convenient place to stay.

Front desk staff unfriendly and argued with me that i booked through Expedia. Bathroom tile needed to be regrouted. Some missing, some black. Tub rusty. Carpet worn. Rediculous price for breakfast. Good selection but not for 19 euros. Best part was that it is very close to metro stop. Would stay elsewhere if we were to return to Ghent.

Staff at hotel were very helpful and friendly. Found the cleanliness of the hotel disappointing, room did not appear to have been cleaned very well and the sofa bed had not been prepared. Ate in the restaurant, food was very good but we were plagued by flies.

Interrupted in the morning by housekeeping despite Do not Disturb. Extra parking fees for hotel car park despite no alternatives. Housekeeping was not exceptional. Bath plug didn't fit. No plugs by the bed. Extortionate 17.50EUR per person extra for breakfast, despite fairly standard spread. No loyality points because booked through Expedia. Stayed to end of stay, but lodged complaint. Have stayed in better.

Hi. Had a great stay apart from the fire alarm going off in the night. I was on the third floor and used the stairs to get out of the hotel. Just some feedback would be that on the stairs it’s not clear to exit on level 1 to leave the hotel and a lot of people carried on the the lower ground floor. If it was a fire could of caused a dangerous tone delay in leaving the hotel.

HANDY FOR GENT EXPO

Stayed here for one night ready to visit the Gent Militaria show. The room was freezing cold. Adjusting the heater controls helped a bit but it never did get really warm. My friend had the room next door and had exactly the same problems . It’s a difficult hotel to get to as you have to drive around ‘the loop’ , it’s poorly signposted so it’s easy to drive around in a circle two or three times before you actually spot the turn off for the carpark. Shame really as the hotel itself is very nice. The breakfast buffet had all you could wish for and the gentleman on reception was very friendly and accomadating.

Welcoming reception staff. Good sized room. Effective aircon. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast both variety and quality. Plenty of parking at modest cost.
The hotel bedrooms are showing there age a little. Creme colour schemes, dark wood finishes and muted lighting reinforce this but it was not an issue for us. Our room was clean and well equipped. Public areas were bright and comfortable. Will have no hesitation staying again.
The local area is still under development but this is easily outweighed by the convenience for the freeway and local tram for trips into town

Great hotel to break your journey when driving to Amsterdam. Free parking and very good breakfast. Ghent is a lovely city and the hotel is close to a tram stop allowing easy and low cost access. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated next to the Gent Expo so when there's no exhibition the rates are very good for the casual tourist.

Very disappointed.We were not told of extensive road and building work around the hotel. On first day we spent over an hour trying to go out of hotel to Ghent town centre.
It took another 30 minutes to reach town centre.No traffic . We did not realise hotel was so far from sites to see.

This hotel was nice. The only difficulty was booking in for three rooms, as they lost one for ten minutes and were difficult to rectify the issue. Once resolved we were happy the three rooms were together and not spread out. Beware that there is a small sign for car park as you go in, you have to go through the expo to get there and round IKEA so keep an eye out if busy when visiting. Breakfast was well worth it, such a wide choice for all allergies which is a rarity. This is a well recommended must for breakfast. Be aware they are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. Shame receptionists were not helpful and customer focused, unlike the bar staff and breakfast staff who were extremely helpful.

Hotel is clean, quiet, and safe. Outside of Ghent with a 5 minute walk to the tram which takes you right into the center of Ghent in less than 15 minutes. We felt perfectly safe during the 5 minute walk (very well lit) and on the tram either day or night. Would stay here again to avoid the higher hotel prices down town!

Tram it - don't taxi!

Holiday Inn is what's to be expected and handy only for those attending events at the Flanders Expo. Would not recommend taxi travel to or from the hotel as due to works takes ages and expensive - up to €35 (and you go around both the football stadium and Expo about 3 times). Take tram number 1 from St Pieters main station, only €3 (pay the driver) and 7mins.

We visit here at the time Ghent Militaria is on, but we also love to go into Ghent by tram which is outside the hotel. Ghent is beautiful. And at this time of year the Christmas market is on, and there is an amazing shop called Casa that has the most beautiful Christmas decorations, the highlight of our weekend is to head into Ghent by tram with our friends who are from across Europe, we all meet up at the hotel and have an amazing night in Ghent, we always find a great restaurant to enjoy a meal and share stories. Nice hotel in the middle of a building site!

I chose to stay here because I was attending the Davis Cup final, and the hotel is right next to the venue. Apart from that, I don't have much to say other than \"meh\".

Good hotel for flanders expo

Booked holiday inn because it is next to flanders expo
Hotel is not easy to get to and get away from in dark

Good choice when price is right.

Standard Holiday Inn accommodation. Slight confusion on arrival due to the relocation of the Expo Tram Terminus, would have been useful if it had been mention beforehand. Great standard of choice available for Breakfast.

Good location

The hotel had a good location for us, i bit hard to find the entrance, construction work going on, so had to drive a couple of rounds before finding it.
Breakfast is great, rooms needs updating.
