Note that Junior Suite 332 is above the hotel restaurant. They do drumming on Friday and Saturday evenings. You can hear it. The room is very spacious but it's not exactly female friendly - push button toliets that break your nails, manly smelling soaps, heavy doors, no light in the bathroom to put on makeup. The room is very dark and all the lights are \"eco\" so they turn on and off every few seconds sometimes. Once I was in the bathroom and all the lights went off entirely. At night the room is so dark. Would have loved more lamps. But the bed and pillows were so comfy, room service was good, mini bar was nicely stocked. Much of the staff are so sweet and wonderful. And it's a beautiful hotel overall. We had issues with the heat in our room (it got to 80 + degrees) and it took a good 36+ hours to get that fixed (which I just thought was way too long and we had to ask 3 times about fixing it).

Perfect location, walkable distance to all areas. Staff great. Very clean. Only issue was the electronic buttons in the rooms. Complicated, and often pressed on when wanted off, or vice versa. Same with toilet button for flushing. So small that a female's fingernail would be broken should she attempt to flush the commode. Really need to rethink those items.

What a wonderful hotel! We arrived exhausted after a lengthy redeye and the concierge and desk staff took great care of us, even allowing for a super early check-in (hours before the normal time). Through our 2+ day stay, we were treated cheerfully and conscientiously, and we found our room to be spotlessly clean, comfortable, and stylish. Overall, the hotel is a seamless blend of traditional and modern design, which we loved. The atrium is a wonder. We would stay at the Conservatorium again without hesitation and look forward to our next trip to Amsterdam!

Both restaurants were terrific. I had a party for six each night. I understand that the restaurants - as well as the hotel itself - will be under new management, by the Mandarin Oriental. This is a fine group, so I'm sure the hotel will continue to remain excellent. I'm planning another trip to Amsterdam in May, and this will be my only choice for hotels.

Most memorable stay

Wonderful stay in this world class hotel. Situated in the historic high end museum quarter, it was walking distance to the best of Amsterdam’s attractions.
We were greeted with smiles and French Champagne and promptly upgraded to a gorgeous junior corner suite. My husband felt very special on his bday as it seemed that the whole hotel knew it was his bday. We also found wonderful surprises in the room, hot air balloons, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and delicious treats.

Alina the consierge made our stay particularly memorable as she recommended the best restaurants and organised everything for us. She explained about Amsterdam and what we should not miss.
She honestly was the best consierge we have met during our 2 months travels and staying in 5 star hotels all over the world.

Thank you to everyone for making our hotel stay so special! We will be back!

On the whole this was a beautiful hotel and staff were mostly lovely. Shockingly, we did experience an extraordinarily rude waiter on the first morning - I’ve never experienced anything like it - fortunately other staff were lovely. Also when we arrived, there was a bit of a delay and we were asked to wait - we were offered complimentary drinks- a nice gesture but they took an age to arrive and we had to chase it up - not a great first impression.

One of my absolute favorite hotels

This is my 3rd time staying at this hotel (stayed twice for business and once on vacation, twice I had a normal room and once I had a suite) and it's one of my absolute favorite hotels anywhere. The staff are wonderful, always willing to help. The rooms are clean. The lobby is my favorite, great to just sit there and have a drink, sometimes they have music (piano). Breakfasts are amazing where you can choose the buffet (pastries and breads are divine). I've done room service after midnight and that's been great (cheese plate was delicious). Easy to book a taxi, has always been reliable and on time. I will say the suites are the best, it's 2 floors, 2 bathrooms, living room areas/couch and you have a nice view of the lobby from above. It's in the museum district and it's near the beautiful Vondel park so you can walk across the street to Van Gogh museum or a little further to the Rijks museum. Super safe neighborhood. Will definitely be back!

I've stayed here twice. It's a lovely hotel with a boutique feel. The rooms are unique. The staff are excellent, before, during and after your stay. The spa, is under construction, but you cam still get services. I would stay here again!

I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. We arrived 2 days late due after a horrible experience with American Airlines, including lost luggage. The Conservatorium gave us some clothes and toiletries. We liked it so much, we decided to stay there a couple days after the cruise to explore Amsterdam. The room they gave us was too hot and the moved us to a cooler room. Also, I hurt my ankle and they provided a walking cane for the day. I would definitely stay here when visiting Amsterdam.

We stayed at the Conservatorium on September 23-26.
The neighborhood around the hotel is very nice, and the hotel is close to museums.
We arrived at 9:30 am and the room was ready! great!
Our deluxe room was very spacious, clean, sleek and the bathroom as well. Surprisingly there were not many outlets for our phones, and computers.
Due to the lack of outlets, we needed converters. We asked to the front desks and they have them but for a price!
We tried to watch english speaking channels (CNN, BBC) but could'nt figure out. Asked front desk, they said we'll send someone. They never did.. After 3 days the TV was inoperable. We asked the concierge if he could print train tickets, he said yes, we went out, when we came out we requested the copies nobody knew about it. The concierge had left for the day. Expedia gave us a VIP access perks, we never received those.
The service was poor, all front desk employees too young or untrained to know what a 5 star hotel outstanding service is like.
Very disappointing experience ! I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. Overpriced with poor customer service.

We decided to have a staycation in Amsterdam and booked the rooftop suite. The room is amazing. The bathroom is probably the best I've ever had in a hotel. The bed... well, for the amount of money you spend, the bed could be more comfortable. Other than that, this hotel is amazing!

My husband and I travel extensively throughout the year, but we have never had a better hotel experience than the Conservatorium. The hotel's architecture is breathtaking, the rooms are modern and chic and the service is phenomenal. It is centrally located to all of the city's best museums and within walking distance to multiple (fantastic!) restaurants and parks. This is the only hotel we'll be staying in the future when returning to Amsterdam.

Check in was bureaucratic and slow. Then the staff tried to tell me I could not pay with a Visa debit card! We had to change lifts to get to our room. The room was a bit soul-less, very hard, and no comfortable sofa or armchair. The corridors were so dark and depressing that I could hardly navigate along them. We were unable to use the bar as they had let it out for a private party. At dinner, on the world's smallest wine list (9 whites only), the first bottle we chose was out of stock the second bottle was warm because it had not be stored in the fridge, and third bottle was not even on the list! A 5 star hotel at this price really needs to do much better. We will not stay here again.

Our daughter who had been recently recommended that we stay closer to the museums than the central canals - it was a great choice for us: walking distance to major museums, easy tram access, and relatively quiet. Upon arriving to the hotel our room was not ready and would not be ready for another hour after checking. We expressed that we were tired from our journey and would prefer to have a room right away. One of the front staff, Estelle, went above and beyond to accommodate our request. She was pleasant, informative and helpful and made us impressed with the level of service given at the hotel. She was a fantastic first impression and It didn’t stop there! The staff throughout our stay were very attentive, helpful and pleasant. It’s in a lovely location and also has wonderful food and a calming atmosphere. Well worth the price! Will stay again when in Amsterdam!

Firstly the hotel is set in a fantastic old building which has maintained character but obviously been modernised over the years - the balance is perfect. Location is excellent - easy to get to by public transport but also in a lovely part of the city with lots to see and do on your doorstep. The hotel facilities are also excellent - you want for nothing and the staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgable. They continued to help us with ideas and support even as we were checking out. We highly recommend this property - stay here, you will not be disappointed!

hotel itself was fine. given the ratings and the supposed luxury status that this hotel has, i had expected a much higher level of service. i arrived late in the evening and the key card to my room was not working and it took three different hotel employees to get me access to my room. after which, i was asked if i was planning on leaving my room for the rest of the day, which is annoying since that basically meant i was more or less locked in my room as it was made clear that i would have to go through the process of requesting access to my own room had a left it.

Too High Tech for its own good...

The hotel is very nice, the common areas are stunning.
We had a lot of problems with the gadgets in the room, nothing seemed to work. The cool TV in the mirror didn't work, the sound system didn't work, the USB plug didn't work, the phone they give you to take out and explore the city, was dead (because plugged into dead USB) and didn't work... We called 4x for assistance, they came (I assume) to the room when we weren't there but nothing was fixed. At one point a manager called, offered us a bottle of Champagne and said the \"systems were all new\" and she wasn't sure how to make them work. We declined the Champagne because we were headed out, she never offered again. Made the first day of vacation a bit stressful, we wanted to enjoy the room and the space and we just didn't. We had a duplex room, it is SMALL and not very functional.

We went in as Hotels.Com Gold with VIP benefits, we got no upgrade, even though everyday we were there we checked availability on both hotels.com and the hotels website and they had upgraded rooms available. They said they were FULLY booked all they could do was offer a suite for equivalent of $350/night.

Overall just a not great 5* hotel experience. I would suggest looking at The Pulitzer, we toured this property and will definitely be staying there in May when we go back to Amsterdam.

I found all the staff gave great attention to detail and they were extremely dedicated, kind and thoughtful. They always were there ready to help in every way.

From the minute I entered the hotel, I knew I was at the right place!

It felt safe too, I did enjoy the Brasserie evening meal on a couple of occasions.
